Added → New Biome "Halloween" (accessible via challenge mode, or sandbox mode. You will NOT be able to select “Halloween” biome via the main journey mode)
Added → New sandbox items (pumpkins, gravestones, spooky trees, candle variant items)
Added → New Boon "Replace": Discard the buildings you have the most copies of in your building bar, and draw 1.5 as many new ones at random
Added → New reward: camera filter, unlocked via challenge "Clairvoyage"

What is in the Free Seasonal Update?
We love Halloween and wanted to capture the essence of spooky season!
A new biome has been created called "Halloween" which features all the new sandbox items, new music, and it can be played via challenge mode or sandbox mode.
4 New Challenges, 2 rewards, and a new boon!
We thought we'd have a little fun and experiment with unlocking rewards for completing challenges, let us know if you liked, or disliked, unlocking rewards via challenges!
Ghost Whisperer - Starts with two statues with wisps. Your positive building scores will only count if you also score against a wisp.
Challenge REWARD! - Successfully score 5000+ points to unlock the Aviary Façade.
Clairvoyage - Play for the best Fortune Teller placement possible. Your building draw limit will never decline. Your highest Fortune Teller score is submitted to the leader board.
Challenge REWARD! - Successfully score 850+ points to unlock the Halloween Filter.
Can't Stop, Won't Stop - Travel over 10 islands but you only get 3 minutes per island. For each building scoring 20+ points you get an additional 10 seconds.
Industrious - Start with a building bar full of industrial buildings and plenty of boons to help you out, but earn no further packs.
NEW BOON - "Replace": Discard the buildings you have the most copies of in your building bar, and draw 1.5 as many new ones at random

Updated → The "Add Cliff House" boon now rewards 6 Cliff Houses, instead of 4.
Updated → Wall score against Houses and Mansions increased from 3 to 5.
Added → 4 NEW Challenges
Metropolis - A single island where your building draw limit never declines. Can you keep going until you run out of room?
Manufactory - No city in sight. Can you score high without any inhabitants?
Mt Roberson - With limited space, clever use of wall platforms and cliff houses is the key to higher scores.
Vanishing - Only 20 buildings can exist at the same time! When placing your 21st, your oldest will vanish.
Added → 6 new achievements/trophies to complete 🏆

There are 4 new challenges available, these challenges are here to stay so you can retry them whenever you’d like. All 4 challenges feature a weekly and global leader board too.
A Short Journey For those of us who want to play ISLANDERS: New Shores but may have a busy schedule, this is a shorter condensed version to play! How high a score can you get within 3 islands?
No Time To Dilly Dally You’ve got 30 minutes to score as high as possible, keep an eye on the timer at the top of the screen and prepare to play quickly!
Temple Trouble Build your city around placing your perfect temple, we have a high score temple placement so far of 1014 - we're keen to see what you all can do 👀
Fully Stacked If you had a perfect start to the game, all the buildings and all the boons available, what would you place first? You can't earn more buildings or boons, so plan carefully! This challenge will always start in the desert biome.
We’re ideally going to be adding more challenges with future patches, so let us know what you think to the challenges... who knows what the next challenge will be 👀

✅ This patch and new biome is now live on Steam (Windows)
⌛ The new biome is live on all platforms, but the latest patch fixes and additions are coming to PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo later on today. (Fixes coming soon™️).
⏳ Steam (Mac) is still pending previous patches, and will not receive the luminescent biome just yet. We’re sorry about the delay, and are working to resolve this ASAP!

What is the new biome?
The new biome is called Luminescent, inspired by Bioluminescence coastlines that light up the night!
In the new Luminescent biome, you can find:
- New trees (giant mushrooms!)
- New flowers that glow (based on real flowers, Firefly Petunias!)
- New blooming trees (giant mushrooms with glowing spots!)
- A beautiful new biome that seems to be in a perpetual night 🌙
- The new biome is available in 4 colour variations, red, blue, green and purple.

Where are the monthly challenges?
We wanted to share a quick and honest update about post-launch content - especially Challenge Mode.
As you may have seen, there have been some changes behind the scenes in the wider organisation, which have made things a bit trickier when it comes to planning out content updates. Team structures have shifted a little, and that’s had a knock-on effect on how quickly we can get things out the door.
That said, We are still here, still excited, and still fully committed to supporting ISLANDERS: New Shores long-term. We’re doing our best to navigate the changes in a way that keeps the game and the community moving forward.
Our hope is to roll out the first version of challenge mode in the next free content update, but we want to take this moment to ask: what kind of challenge experience do you actually want? High-score hunts? Creative goals? We’re all ears.
Drop your thoughts in the comments - we’re reading everything, and your input will help us shape what is next.

We wanted to get the first official patch out ASAP and we're hoping some of the hard hitters for bugs and feedback are addressed 🪲

✅ This patch is now live on Steam (Windows)
⌛ This patch will go live on PlayStation and Xbox later today.
⏳ These fixes will be included in a later patch for Nintendo Switch and Steam(Mac) - thank you for your patience!
Fixed → Issue in a rising island generator where buildings placed on stones in the water would rise above the stones.
Fixed → Weekly leader board not being centred around users on PS5.
Fixed → Blooming trees from using a blossom boon would not follow rising islands.
Fixed → Issue where the building from using duplicate or bargain was not rewarded if it was your only remaining boon but still had at least 1 unopened boon pack in the bar.
Added option to settings menu to use instant advanced tooltips on mouse hover.
Added option to settings menu to use a persistent toggle for tooltips when playing with a gamepad.
Added user option to enable hovering placed buildings in the world and get a tooltip with the building name (PC only).
Added the camera to tilt slightly vertically in Photo Mode, get those overhead shots!

🛠️ Hotfix #1 – Patch Notes
We’ve already rolled out a small hotfix based on your early feedback:
Adjusted: Brightness slider range reduced for better usability and control.
Fixed: Twitch connection status now updates correctly if the Twitch window is closed while connecting.
Fixed: Undo bugs related to Sacred Rocks that could incorrectly increase or decrease score permanently.
More fixes and improvements are already on the way.

We’ve got some exciting news for handheld players – ISLANDERS: New Shores is officially Steam Deck Verified!
That means the full game (coming 10th July!) and the demo available now have been tested to make sure they run smoothly right out of the box on Steam Deck. And we’re happy to say it plays great – this chill, score-based city builder is right at home in your hands.
We wanted to share a few tips if you’re curious about performance, battery life, and settings. Of course, you don’t need to tweak anything if you don’t want to – the game runs beautifully on default settings – but for those of you who like to optimise, here’s what we’ve found during our own play sessions:
Default Experience
High Graphics Preset
1280x800 resolution
Capped at 60fps
Smooth and responsive – perfect for on-the-go relaxing builds
~3.5+ hours battery life on our older Deck
Power Saver Option
Low Graphics Preset
TDP limit to 4W
Manual GPU clock ~300MHz
Refresh rate capped at 40Hz
In-game v-sync set to 30fps
~5+ hours of play on a full charge
If you’re new to tinkering with Steam Deck settings, don’t worry – you don’t need to adjust a thing. But for those of you who love to fine-tune, there’s room to stretch battery life even further while keeping things running smooth.
And don’t forget – the demo is live right now! If you want to get a feel for how it plays before launch, it’s a great time to jump in and build your first island 🌴

Once ISLANDERS: New Shores is released on July 10th 2025, we have a few cool updates planned to release each month for the rest of 2025… for FREE!

Welcome back ISLANDERS fans to a fresh updated demo!
We took all of your feedback onboard from the 1st demo, and the devs have made multiple changes we think you’ll be pleased to see implemented into the new demo.
The demo is remaining open until ISLANDERS: New Shores releases (Summer 2025), keep your eyes peeled for exciting news coming soon…
So, what has changed in the updated demo?
Balancing Adjustments:

Fortune Teller: Score per building reduced from 3 → 2
Aviary: Max score increased from 100 → 125
Lumberjack: Penalty adjusted from -5 → -4
Bargain: Count reduced from 2 → 1; penalty increased from 4 → 5
Score Multiplier: 0.5 → 0.6
Reroll Charges: 4 → 5
Wisp: Score lowered from 5 → 4
Nature Interaction: Increased from 2.5 → 3 score
UX/UI & Visual Adjustments:

Replaced icon-based tooltips with default text (a highly requested change!)
Slight UI color tweaks to improve score preview visibility
Adjusted tint color to reduce confusion during illegal building placements
Improved wall platform placement for smoother gameplay
General polish and bug fixes

Demo Specific Updates

New island variations
Larger islands
Slightly extended gameplay (still limited to 3 islands!)
New “Duplicate” boon introduced, replacing “Bargain”
4 new buildings: - Temple - Harbour - Verdure - Guild Hall
New gameplay element: - Sacred Rocks
