Our Kickstarter campaign is now over and we’re still reeling from the amount of support we received. We raised just over $21K USD against an initial goal of $15,000 - which makes us 140% funded. We did not know if that was possible when we launched. You made it possible.
We want to say thank you properly here, in a space where we can take a little more time with it. Every backer, every person who shared the campaign, every person who wrote about it or told a friend or posted about it somewhere - you are part of this now. We will not forget that.

Where we are in development
Hollow Home is in its final stage of development. We are closer to being finished than we have ever been. The Kickstarter funds will go toward the additional polish and content we outlined during the campaign, including the stretch goal that we reached with the help of our backers - two new in-game outfits for Maksym.
We will continue to post development updates here as we move toward release. There is still a lot to share before the game is out, and we want to bring you along for as much of it as we can.

A lot has happened since the last update so we wanted to sit down and tell you about all of it properly.
Ukrainian Games Festival
The Ukrainian Games Festival started today. If you have not taken a look yet, we recommend doing so - there are a huge number of games to discover, significant discounts on games, major announcements and several big releases all happening as part of the festival. It is one of our favourite moments in the calendar and this year it feels particularly meaningful to us.
We are very proud to say that Hollow Home is participating, and to mark the occasion we have released the most substantial update to our demo since Next Fest.
What is new in the updated demo
This new, updated demo is a big step from the last playable version with significant changes - this is not a minor patch! This demo is meaningfully closer to the full version of Hollow Home that will be released later this year. Here is what has changed.
The biggest change - Action Points are gone.
This is the most significant design decision we have made in a long time. We have removed the Action Points mechanic entirely. Your primary resource to manage is now Maksym's daily Resolve. We thought carefully about this for a long time and we believe it makes the game feel more natural, more emotionally grounded, and more in keeping with the kind of experience we are trying to create. We are very curious to hear what you think about it.
Controller support
The updated demo now has full controller support. We are particularly keen to get your feedback on this one - how does it feel to play? Does it work the way you would want it to? Please let us know.
An improved save system
Saving is now significantly faster and save files are considerably smaller. This was something we knew needed work and we are glad to have it in a much better place. Again - please try it and tell us how it feels.
Real radio broadcasts from Ukrainian Radio
We mentioned this in a previous Kickstarter update, but we want to talk about it here too because it matters to us. We have partnered with Ukrainian Radio - Ukraine's public broadcaster since 1924 - to include real archive recordings in the game. When the invasion begins in Hollow Home, players will hear actual broadcasts from Ukrainian Radio as they were transmitted on the real days of the full-scale invasion. We are deeply grateful to Ukrainian Radio for making this collaboration possible.
Other changes & updates
There are also a number of smaller improvements, bug fixes and general polish updates throughout. We will not list all of them here - the best way to find them is to play.
Please download the updated demo on Steam, try all of it, and tell us what you think. Your feedback at this stage genuinely shapes what we do next.
Where we are with development
Hollow Home is in the final stage of development. We are closer to being finished than we have ever been, and we cannot wait to finally show you the full game.
Our Kickstarter campaign is still live and is now fully funded - something we are still a little amazed by. We are currently making progress toward our first stretch goal: two new in-game outfits for Maksym. If you have not yet backed the campaign or shared it with someone who might care about it, there is still time.

This is not the end. It is the beginning of what we can now make together.
Stretch goals - two new outfits for Maksym
With the campaign funded, we are excited to announce our first stretch goals. If we can go further, we will be adding two brand new outfits for Maksym - additional ways to personalise your experience of the game. We will share more details on these as we get closer to the goal. Keep sharing the campaign. Keep telling people. Every backer from here brings us closer.

The campaign runs for 20 days, ending August 24th, with a goal of $15,000. Every penny raised goes beyond the baseline - toward the extra layer of polish, the deeper content, the version of Hollow Home that we believe this story deserves.
The rewards
We wanted the rewards for this campaign to feel as connected to the game and to us as possible. Some of what is waiting for you on the campaign page: your name in the credits, a postcard signed by the whole Twigames team, the chance to name a cat that appears in the game, a custom graffiti design placed in the game world itself, and an “Azovstal“ bracelet, forged from the last batch of pre-war steel. Head to the campaign page to see the full breakdown of tiers and everything included.
What we are asking
If you believe in what we are making, please back the campaign. Every contribution at any level is a genuinely meaningful thing for a small studio working in the circumstances we are working in.

We started making Hollow Home in 2022, in the months after the full-scale invasion began, and we have kept making it because we believe it is a story that people should hear. Today we get to see that there are other people who agree.

Hollow Home will be part of Steam Next Fest, running June 15–22. It's one of the biggest celebrations of upcoming games on Steam, and we're proud that Maksym's story will be part of it. If you know someone who should meet Maksym, fest week is the perfect time to tell them.

You don't have to wait for the fest. If you haven't tried Hollow Home yet, the free demo is available right now on the demo page. Play the first days of Maksym's story: a 14-year-old boy, alone in a city under siege, learning to survive through the people he meets. There are no weapons and no battles in Hollow Home. There are only choices, and the weight of what you decide.

We're happy to announce that Crunchy Leaf Games, an indie publisher based in Berlin, Germany, has officially joined us as the publisher for Hollow Home.
Having a dedicated publishing partner allows us to focus on what we do best: making the game. We're grateful to have found a team that believes in Maksym's story and understands why it matters.
Our vision for Hollow Home hasn't changed. We're still the same team, telling the same story, with the same heart. This partnership gives us more resources for development, marketing, and polish, so we can deliver the experience you deserve. The game is coming to PC via Steam later this year.
We're proud that Ukrainian games continue to grow despite the difficult circumstances our country has faced. Your wishlists, feedback, and encouragement mean the world to us and keep us going.

The day is finally here! We've just released our most requested features and improvements, and Hollow Home is now live in the Ukrainian Games Festival 2025! Plus, we have some exciting events coming up where you'll be able to experience our game around the world.
We're thrilled to be participating in the Ukrainian Games Festival 2025 happening right now on Steam (August 14-21)! This incredible celebration of Ukrainian game development is in full swing, and we're honored to be part of it.
Our brand new trailer has just launched alongside the festival - experience Maksym's story like never before!
The most exciting news? Our major demo update is live right now! Based on your feedback, here's what's now available:
Your #1 request is finally here! The updated demo now features a complete save system, so you can continue Maksym's journey without starting over each time.
We've implemented significant optimization improvements for smoother gameplay across all systems. Enjoy better frame rates and reduced loading times!
Along with the major features, we've added various quality-of-life improvements and polish touches that make the experience even more immersive.
But that's not all! We're also excited to announce our participation in two major international events:
Gamescom 2025 - We'll be showcasing Hollow Home at one of the world's biggest gaming events. If you're attending, come find us and experience Maksym's story firsthand!

This is a milestone we could only dream of when we started this journey, and it’s all thanks to you. Whether you’ve been with us since the very beginning or you’ve just discovered Hollow Home, we want to extend a warm welcome and a huge thank you for your support. Every wishlist, every comment, and every bit of feedback means the world to us. It’s your passion and enthusiasm that keeps us going, even on the toughest days.
We have some exciting news to share as we’re currently working behind the scenes on a Kickstarter campaign for Hollow Home.
While we’re not quite ready to reveal all the details just yet, we wanted to give you a heads-up so you can be among the first to know when we launch. Welcome to our second devlog. Today, we want to share more behind-the-scenes content with you.
Location and Character spotlight!
Introducing new character concept, Fox Fin. Their character has experienced first-hand the consequences of war. A wound to the head that's bandaged up, and military outfit, strongly suggests their involvement in the defense of their home country.
Another new character is Kolia Shvets.
Moving on to new locations, we would like to introduce three new places.
The Basement, where players will be able to take refuge and rest in between the stress and pressure of war. Providing a safe pit stop between the chaos going on upstairs, the basement can function in many different settings. As a shelter for people, kitchen, supply and food storage, or anything else that is currently necessary. We want to show you the area we took refuge in and slept in to protect ourselves ad our loved one from the chaos on the surface.
Another two places are the corridor and storage shed. We're not quite giving away where this corridor belongs, the church? Community Hall? That's for you to find out when you play our game.
The shed of course serves as a storage for the most important tools and items. Any supplies, spare parts, tools, metal scraps, it's all gathered there to help residents in their everyday tasks.

Today, we want to share a new location with you and its new inhabitant.
Location and character spotlight!
Today, we want to give you a sneak-peek of a new location that you'll be able to find within the Hollow Home world. The church is the first out of few new locations that players will find in Hollow Home's universe.
There are many different places of worship around the world, and our culture is no different. All religious places have one thing in common... a Reverend.
Along with the new location concept, we would like to introduce its resident. Dressed in traditional clothes and religious precious stones, he'll reside in the building and carry out church service and attend visitors and their spiritual needs.
In hard times, a little hope and uplifting spirit is what we all need. This provides a safe space for everyone to catch their breath at during the hardships they face.

The first new character we're happy to show you a glimpse of is Dmytro Verba. Dressed in a warm jacket and heavy boots, Dmytro is an outdoor photography 📸 fan, but recently he diverted to photography that focuses on documenting the surrounding war.

Today, we want to share some recent events we’ve recently attended. In August, we attended the largest gaming expo in Europe, Gamescom. We were there as part of the Polish Indie Booth with Galaktus Publishing, where a lot of you came and played our game or decided to play our demo online. Our team is glad that many of you enjoyed the demo, whether at the event or at the comfort of their home, and we can’t wait to provide you with further development.
Quick repack and a couple of days after returning from Gamescom we flew out across the ocean for PAX West. Where again, we gathered a lot of attendance from our audience and gathered a lot of feedback that we are looking over and considering for our future game development.
Today we are even further across the globe. We’re in the land of cherry blossoms, at Tokyo Game Show, Japan. Hollow Home will be at TGS until Sunday 29th of September and for anyone visiting come and see our booth at location A43. We’re very grateful that we managed to attend three major events across the world in the space of less than six weeks, and we hope our audience was able to visit our booth at any of these locations.

To celebrate the Ukrainian Games Festival 2024, we’ve added a Ukrainian localization to the Hollow Home demo. This was made possible by the collaboration with MK:translations and thanks to Indie Blast at Games Gathering 2024.
The exclusive demo of Hollow Home offers two hours of gameplay, showcasing the first two days of Max’s journey. You'll experience the outbreak of war and get a glimpse of what the full game has to offer.
The Hollow Home demo is available only until the Ukrainian Games Festival 2024 ends on August 26. Don’t miss your last chance to play the newest version with Ukrainian localization.

Additionally, we are going to be present at this year's Gamescom, August 21- 25 in Cologne, Germany, where Hollow Home will be a part of the Polish Indie Booth, Hall 10.2, Booth E-069.
We’re very excited to announce that for the duration of the Ukrainian Steam Festival and Gamescom, we’ll be releasing an exclusive demo of our game that will be available for a limited time only.
