You can now talk with people in the same world while you build, explore, or simply spend time together!
🎙 Voice Chat
You can now have a conversation without leaving MEs.
Voices respond to the distance between you and other people
Nameplates show who is speaking
Voice Chat stays connected when MEs is in the background
Voice Chat volume can be adjusted separately from other audio, up to 200%
We have already been using it during our weekly Open Studio sessions—walking through worlds, building things, and talking in the same place without opening a separate Discord call.

🕺 Emotes and a more useful chat
You can now trigger emotes through chat and react with movement to the people around you. Command suggestions now include search and highlighting, so features are easier to find.

The new /here command lets you share your current location in chat, so other people can teleport directly to you.

🧍 VRM 0.x and Spring Bone support
VRM 0.x avatars can now be uploaded and used directly in MEs, without converting them to VRM 1.0. This makes it much easier to bring many older avatars into MEs.
We have also improved the experience of finding, saving, and wearing avatars:
Bookmark avatars you want to return to
Click to Equip: inspect a compatible VRM Patch in-world, then click Equip to wear it immediately

It’s hard to believe that the year is already coming to a close — and what better way to wrap it up than with our biggest MEs update yet.
This update introduces a feature we’ve been excited to finally share: VRM avatar support.
Along with new creative tools, improved camera functionality, new worlds, and a special collaboration.
Let’s take a look at what’s new.
🌟 New Features (MAJOR UPDATE)
🧍 VRM Avatar Support (NEW)
You can now upload VRM avatars directly into MEs and use them as your in-world avatar.
Bring your favorite VRM character into MEs to explore worlds, meet others, and experience the platform in a more personal way.
※ For recommended formats and troubleshooting, please refer to the MEs Manual.
⚡️Direct Cast (Quick Import)
Adding patches to your world is now much faster.
With this update, you can now import files directly into the world:
Press N while in WORLD
Select any supported file
The file will be imported instantly as a patch in your current world
This makes iteration faster and keeps you focused on building, exploring, and experimenting without breaking your flow.
📸 Camera Mode
A brand-new Camera Mode lets you move freely through the world and capture photos, videos, or livestream footage from custom angles.
Adjust:
Field of View
Roll
Exposure
and frame your shots just like a real camera.
🎨 Colored Text Patch
The existing Text Patch has been upgraded — you can now change text color.
This opens up new possibilities for notes, messages, poetry, signage, and spatial storytelling inside your worlds.

We’re excited to introduce a special avatar collaboration with artist Genie.
Experience a unique avatar that blends Genie’s creative vision with the MEs world.
🌍 New Worlds

A limited-time Christmas World is now available.
Take a quiet moment, wander through the space, and enjoy the holiday atmosphere in MEs.
🧍 Avatar Showroom World
We’ve introduced a new Avatar Showroom World, designed as a space to showcase avatar collaborations.
This world features the Genie collaboration avatar, allowing you to view and experience the avatar in a dedicated environment before using it in MEs.

How is January almost at an end already? The time flew by, maybe because we were working on another fun update for you all. 🥰 This brings some features that we’re super duper happy to share with you, alongside some bug fixes that provide for a smoother MEs experience. Read on ahead for more info!
New Features
Nameplates
Traversing the online worlds of MEs? Working together with a small team on a project? Losing yourself in a creative vortex? Today’s feature is for you! (and anyone else reading this)
With nameplates, your username will be displayed above your MEs Chan for everyone else to see and know who you are!
Camera Spring Arm
The camera movement in MEs is more fluid now and isn’t rigidly stuck to MEs Chan. Experience the smooth nature of third person movement across our worlds!
Patch Placement Adjustments
While in a patch placement state, you can hold the V and F keys to move patches closer/further away from you. We hope this additional functionality enables you more creative control over your MEs world designs moving forward.
Bug Fixes & Improvements

ESC key functionality is no longer blocked by the Brush Tool being open.
You can now interact with a Browser Patch even if you didn’t place it.
Ctrl [Windows] & Cmd [Mac] keys now also work for multi selection in the MIND.
MEs should no longer require double clicking of keyboard buttons to perform any functionality.
MEs Chan will respawn as expected after multiple despawns.
Videos in the Manual World should now play consistently.
The multiline text entry in the Text Chat has been adjusted to work without spaces.
Visual adjustments to SFC & Gallery001 Worlds.

As for MEs, we have our first update of the year to share with you all, so read on ahead for the tasty patch notes and the fixes to MEs! (Note: do not actually print and eat this without consulting a doctor first)
Bug Fixes & Improvements

General backend improvements to MEs.
Casting and inspecting patches in the Keio SFC Twin Campus world works as expected.
Patch uploading was improved to prevent uploading corrupt files which would crash MEs.
Set the default window size to “windowed” on Mac to prevent a crash when alt-tabbing.
File picker will only show files types supported by MEs when importing to the MIND.
Adjusted the Text & Browser patch material exposure to improve readability.
Removed a rogue plane that made it’s way into the Higher Garden world.
Camera zoom has been disabled in the MIND when placing a text patch.
Multi line support implemented within the Text Chat input window.
Deleting multiple selected patches from the MIND works as intended.
Added a notification about our servers being at capacity when trying to join a cloud world.
MIND will import the correct patch after deleting a different patch.
You can no longer stack multiple messages during the login process.
Repeated login requests should no longer be occurring on the same machine.
Known Issues

If a patch fails to upload to a cloud world, it will get removed from the MIND. Please re-import your patch into the MIND when this happens.
As always, there’s more fixes, improvements and new features incoming. Please keep an eye on our Discord server for upcoming events later this month.
We’re very excited for everything we have planned this year, and hope you join us for our virtual adventures.

Let your mind wander between the fragments displayed in this museum designed by Soh Tomioka. How will you piece the story fragments together?
Invite a Friend
You can now invite your friends to join you digitally in MEs! Click the Invite a Friend button, fill out a short form and explore digital worldlings together once your friend signs up✨

Mimi’s Slightly Sleeping Forest - Artist Open Studio Series
Continuing our Artist Open Studio Series, we have a dual world designed by Kageyema. Join Mimi and her animal friends in exploring a dreamlike forest during the day, or travel through the rainbow portal to see it at night time. Why not have a picnic in this colorful landscape?
park - Artist Open Studio Series
Our second Artist Open Studio Series world this week was designed by Bubuchiyo Find a collection of three dimensional structures scattered across the virtual park resembling ancient ruins.
Bug Fixes

Adjusted the Profile page skin Images to display correctly
World Detail menu no longer duplicates delete buttons
Japanese localization updates
Mac no longer interferes with control/command keyboard shortcuts, allowing for language input switching
Known Issues
We’re still working on finishing the fix for the placement of patches within large cloud worlds.

Today’s update continues our long standing tradition established just last week 😅
We’re very proud and excited to share a World that’s been in the works for a couple of months now. Let’s not delay any further, onto the update!
New Features
Keio University Shonan Fujisawa Campus Digital Twin World
This digital twin world is our most technically and visually impressive world yet, created directly in collaboration with Keio University and Softbank. The concept behind the world was to create a computational knowledge base playground — to build and expand upon the last 33 years of SFC and its projects. Students and faculty members can shape the school’s culture by treating the world as a blank canvas, but everyone is welcome to peruse, and experience a digital twin of this sophisticated and modern university campus.
Japanese Localization
MEs has been fully translated into Japanese! You can change your language between English and Japanese in the settings, and interact with MEs how you prefer!
World Controls Dropdown Menu
You can access all the world controls from a dropdown menu. This will be expanded in the future with additional functionality and options for all your handy world management.

Minor updates and fixes to MEs chan skins
Audio patch Play/Pause no longer restarts the audio
No audio rolloff when placing an audio patch
Text patch auto focused keyboard input on creation
Search auto focuses keyboard input on open
World Browser visual updates
Adjusted Avatar images in profile screen
Fixed manual world ambient audio
Known Issues
Placing patches in a cloud SFC World is only possible by using the Search (”Tab” key) function. Casting from the MIND will not work. A local SFC World works as expected.
Due to a Mac related update, your local worlds won’t display in the World Browser on a Mac. Cloud worlds are not affected in the same way so if you want to ensure no progress will be lost, create a Cloud World. We’re working to get this resolved as fast as possible and apologize for the inconvenience 🙇‍♂️
Placing Audio patches in cloud worlds can cause severe crashes. While we investigate the cause & fix it is recommended to not place any audio patches in cloud worlds for the time being.
Using AirPods on a Mac will cause MEs to crash. We are investigating this issue, but for now recommend keeping your AirPods disconnected from Mac when launching MEs.

New Features
Cloud Ovum World - Artist Open Studio Series
We are thrilled to unveil our first world created in collaboration with an artist! Designed by MIQ, the Cloud Ovum World invites you to experience life as a vessel floating above the clouds. Please look forward to more artist world releases in the future!
Manual World
For all newcomers to MEs - learn how to use MEs while playing MEs! Create your own Manual World to learn the controls, interactions and functions of MEs by yourself or with your friends online! Revisit it any time to remind & refresh your memory.
To access the manual world:

Open MEs
Once loaded press “Q” to open the menu
Navigate to “WORLDS”
Click “Add World”
Select the Manual World, create and enter the world
World Browser
The WORLDS menu is now split into two separate tabs; FEATURED WORLDS and MY WORLDS. My Worlds functions just as how you’re used to it - you can find a collection of the worlds you created. The Featured Worlds tab will be updated to a hub in the future for a variety of world categories, but for now you can learn more below.
Featured Worlds
Featured Worlds are worlds anyone within MEs can access - no access code is necessary! Jump in and experience these worlds with other players. Please note that all featured worlds are set to view only. You will not be able to place or move any patches. You can expect many more featured worlds in the future…
UI Updates
In addition to a fade in animation for all worlds in the World Browser, cloud worlds will display a cloud icon to differentiate them from local worlds. The World creator’s username will also be displayed below the world title in the browser.
Text Patch Improvements
Both types of text patch are now double sided! You will no longer be surprised by a text patch appearing suddenly - it will clearly announce it’s existence no matter which way it’s facing. Additionally, the camera will ignore the text patch and not zoom unexpectedly when walking through a text patch.
Bug Fixes

MEs process correctly terminates on Quit
Camera no longer collides with patches in the MIND
The date on worlds and text patches doesn’t set itself to 1970 anymore
World Details no longer gray out when viewing other worlds
Rotation axis don’t reset on each right click
Edited opacity in the profile menu
Increased base size of browser patch
Fixed MEs chan collision on browser patch
Rotation tool displays correctly on browser patch

Aside from the features mentioned in the last Steam update, you can expect to be hearing from us about this in the near-ish future:

As the months are getting colder, it’s the perfect time to get cozy and creative! Since the update last month, we’ve been busy at work on new features, fixes, and some cool future plans to help you achieve those comfy winter creation vibes. 🥰 Read on for changes below!
New Features
Simple Text Patch
When first placing a Text Box Patch, you will now be presented with the Simple Text Patch first. This lets you put text in the world without any background. Make your text pop and comment on your surroundings! (Tip: Emojis also work!)
You can still access the original, larger text box by clicking the Text Box button.
New Worlds
Fantastic Desert
Originally featured in the 2023 MEET YOUR ART FESTIVAL art exhibition, the Fantastic Desert is now accessible by all MEs users! Peruse the crystal glistening desert and let your mind wander amidst the absence…
Updates and Improvements
Multiplayer Collision
MEs Chan can now collide with image and model patches in multiplayer cloud worlds! Climb towers of your own creations, jump on tables or beds or whatever other 3D object you import! Cross a bridge, walk up some stairs, or slope your images to walk upon your art.
Brush Tool Fixes
The Brush Tool has been re-examined and refactored to work as expected both in both multiplayer and single player.
Patches Disappearing
There was an occasional gnarly issue of your patches turning invisible in the MIND and in WORLDS - no more!
Rotation Feature
The Rotation Feature receives another face lift! While rotating you will now see a rotation widget to help you understand the rotation axis. While holding down the right mouse button, press the 1, 2, and 3 keys on your keyboard to switch rotation axis. You can also press “R” to reset the rotation back to it’s default position
Updated UI Look
Our user interface now has stylish rounded edges for your viewing pleasure.
WORLD Detail Menu Opens Before WORLD Load
You can now preview WORLD information before you enter - ensure you’re joining the right world and avoid an unexpected surprise!
Patch Placement Camera Update
The camera enters a focused mode while placing a patch to allow for finer control and more overview.

Tutorial World
A tutorial world to introduce new users to MEs and it’s functionality is in the late development progress.
New Worlds
We mentioned collaborating with artists in the patch notes above… Hopefully that’s enough of an indicator for what’s to come next. Keep those eyes peeled! 👀
Privacy controls
We have implemented the backend to support this functionality, the next step is to feature some view only worlds. More on this soon!
Server Improvements
A lot of time over the next month will be dedicated to server improvements to ensure more people can use MEs - don’t worry, there’ll still be a stream of new features and improvements!

Hello, MEs creators, we hope all of your summers are off to a great start as we bring you this latest update to MEs!
Version 2023.6.1 includes these new updates:

Unreal 5.2: MEs is now running off the latest release of the Unreal Engine! This upgrade allowed us to fix some existing bugs, as well as to bring support to Apple Silicon devices.
New Seed World: Explore the beautiful new world, Under the Light, "a research laboratory for faint life forms".
Patch Rotation: The previous version of patch placement did not allow for rotating the patch to certain orientations. Now, while holding the right mouse button, you'll be able to smoothly rotate the patch in all 3 axes.
Patch Collision: Additionally, all placed patches now have collision enabled. Use your imported objects to create stairs and bridges to reach new heights and corners of your worlds!
Batch Import: When importing files to the Mind, you can now select multiple files to import at once.

Hello from O you beautiful people! We have another update for MEs that we hope will improve your overall idea organization experience.

We have added the ability to Move a patch after its initial placement. All you need to do is approach it in your Metaverse world until it is selectable, then press P. We have further improvements to this feature coming soon so watch this space.
If you travel to the Settings Menu via our Pie Menu, you are now able to select a new location on your Hard drive to store your MEs files. Just be sure to select an empty folder to prevent overwriting anything else that already exists there. And don't go renaming those files that MEs is storing for you, or it will lose track of them.
We also have several UI improvements and bug fixes that are always being caught thanks to everyone's great feedback so be sure to keep it coming. These include fixes to the Pie Menu animations, and an anti-alias issue for Text Patches and URL Patches.

We're excited to release another MEs version 2023.5.1 to you budding creators. We think there are several updates this release that you'll love. Here are the details:

MEs Early Access is now available for Mac users on Steam!
Discover three new seed worlds, including Gallery 001, Altered Path, and Senkai.
Improved patch placement will make it easier for you to position patches exactly where you want them.
Data validation has been added to help prevent errors and ensure that the game runs smoothly.
We've also added a crash report system to improve our bug-fixing capacity.
We hope that these changes will make MEs an even better tool for you. If you have any questions or feedback, please don't hesitate to let us know on Discord or through email at [email protected]. Thanks for continuing to use MEs!
