The mansion doors are open… and this time, you’re not entering alone. Co‑op mode for Ghoul Fright is officially in playtesting, and we’re inviting players to jump in, team up, and survive the most chaotic cartoon‑horror brawl we’ve ever unleashed. Up to 4 players can join forces.

Up to 4 players can join forces. Friends, strangers, or whoever dares to queue. Fight your way through escalating waves of ghouls that get meaner, louder, and significantly more unhinged every round.
What’s in the Co‑op Playtest
You and your squad will face 10 stages of increasingly aggressive ghouls. Every stage cleared earns you gold, which you can spend at the in‑game shop to buy wearable upgrades that boost your strength, defense, speed, and overall “please don’t let me die again” potential.
Expect:
Chaotic multi‑ghoul combat
Shared progression through waves
Team strategy… or total panic
Wearable upgrades that stack into wild builds
In‑game voice & text chat for yelling, laughing, and screaming together

Meet Walter Tayloo. The Man Who Refused to Stay Down
Every apocalypse has its heroes. Some are destined by prophecy. Others inherit legendary weapons or mysterious powers. Walter Tayloo got none of those. He grew up in the quiet Spanish town of Tocino, where life wasn't glamorous. Money was scarce, opportunities were even scarcer,

Walter Tayloo got none of those.
He grew up in the quiet Spanish town of Tocino, where life wasn't glamorous. Money was scarce, opportunities were even scarcer, and success meant working hard every single day. Walter dreamed of something bigger, not for fame, but for his family. He left everything behind and crossed the ocean to build a better future in the United States.
That future almost happened.
Starting with nothing, Walter worked whatever jobs he could find before opening a martial arts gym with his friend Juanes. There he mastered the devastating Kaichuu flying kicks, sharpened his boxing skills, and finally found the life he'd been chasing. He met Eriko, fell in love, adopted an energetic little chihuahua named Mike, and for the first time everything seemed to be falling into place.
Then the world ended.
An invasion of terrifying creatures known as the Ghouls swept across humanity, leaving destruction wherever they went. Walter lost everything in a single night, yet for reasons even he doesn't understand, the monsters spared his life.
That decision may become the greatest mistake they ever make.
A Hero Built Through Hard Work
Walter isn't a superhuman.
He's a boxer, a martial artist, a parkour instructor, and a dancer. His strength comes from discipline rather than destiny, allowing him to combine devastating punches, acrobatic movement, and legendary flying kicks into a fighting style unlike anyone else's.
He never wanted to save the world.
He simply refuses to let evil win.
What Drives Walter?
Walter's motivations couldn't be more personal.
Rescue Eriko, no matter the cost.
Discover what became of his family back in Spain.
Make the Ghouls answer for everything they've taken from him.
And maybe, if the apocalypse leaves any room for it, finally achieve the dream of building the successful life he always wanted.
The end of humanity is only the beginning of Walter's fight.
More Than a Fighter
Despite everything, Walter never loses the kindness that defines him.
He loves dogs and cats, enjoys action and strategy games, relaxes with cartoons, and could happily eat chicken ramen every day. Racing games, however, are another story. They stress him out far more than monsters ever could.
It's this balance of determination, humor, and compassion that makes Walter more than just another action-game protagonist. He's an ordinary man facing an impossible nightmare, armed with nothing but his skills, his stubbornness, and the people he refuses to give up on.

If you pick the second one, we have something for you.
THERE IS NO WAVE 11, THERE IS WAVE 27! (Endless Mode)
You wanted more waves. Here are all of them.

After you clear Wave 10, the counter stops pretending there's a finish line. Endless Mode drops you into a survival gauntlet where the Ghouls keep coming, harder and weirder, until you stop them or they stop you.
The wave counter goes raw - no more "Wave 7 / 10". Just Wave 27. Just Wave 42. Just however far you got.
Damage scales every wave - by Wave 11 the Ghouls hit you like they remember every insult you've ever thrown
The spawn tier rolls earlier - random mob mixes start kicking in around Wave 5, so even the build-up gets spicy
The leaderboards take any number — Wave 12, Wave 50, doesn't matter. Post your best run. Embarrass your friends!
The demo no longer has an ending. It has an exit.
HUNDREDS OF GHOULS, ONE FRAME (Performance Pass)
You can't have an Endless Mode if the engine quits at Wave 14.

We spent this update teaching the game to not panic when the screen fills up. Mobs you can't see do less work. Lights you can't reach turn off. AI ticks that don't need to fire don't fire. None of it is glamorous, but together it's what lets the camera point at a pile of Ghouls instead of a slideshow.
Distant Ghouls stop checking line-of-sight past 60 units (unless they're already mad at you)
Shadows fade past 40 units — the back of the crowd casts less geometry per millisecond
Head-look targets cache for a fifth of a second instead of recalculating every frame
Stranded mobs auto-recover instead of standing in a corner stealing CPU
Procedural mesh chunks batch their destruction so a smashed wall doesn't smash your framerate
The hundredth Ghoul on screen costs us a lot less than he used to. You'll feel it on Wave 30!
MEET THE BAT (New Weapon)
We added a bat. Hits things. Throws good.

The Baseball Bat is a secret weapon you can use — 15 damage, clean knockdown, and the same satisfying thwock you remember from every parking lot you've ever regretted being in. Heavy enough to swing, light enough to throw. Ghouls don't see it coming back the second time either.

A wood bat is the simplest tool in the kit. It's also the one that ends the most arguments.

MORE THINGS TO BREAK (Destructibles)
Cardboard boxes — light, stackable, and aerodynamic when introduced to a foot
Wall Warnings — three new variants of the breakable wall texture set, so the perimeter doesn't look the same in every chapter
Wooden barricade walls — nailed shut, paint stripes, fully crumple-on-impact
Tutorial wall break sequence — the tutorial finale now teaches wall destruction in stages, one breakable at a time, instead of pointing at the whole arena and saying "good luck"
If it stands, you can probably knock it over. Try us.
TUTORIALS GREW ARROWS
Focused tutorials used to point at things. Now they point harder.

The new tutorial arrow bobs, squashes at the peak, and stays glued to the exact UI element you're learning about — your HP, your skill slot, your energy bar, whatever the tutorial wants you to look at. The arrow goes away the second you actually press the thing. Less reading. More doing. We've been working on this one since v031, and it shows.

This part isn't a joke. We're a small team. This is the last demo update before the full game. If you've made it this far in the changelog, you've already made our week. We added two buttons to the demo so it's easier to help us out without leaving the game:
A Wishlist button that opens the Steam page right in the overlay
A Support button that drops you into the place where you can help us keep making things and eat good pizza
Click either one if you've enjoyed yourself. Skip them if you haven't. Either way, thank you for playing!

(Under the hood, we also wired up Steam Input so your controller routes through Steam's remapping properly, fewer button-bind surprises across devices.)

DJScratch — for whenever the game very briefly wants to remember it has a sense of humor
Crashes / Explosions — destruction pack, custom-built for the finale too
NewCombat_MetalHit1 — a fresh metal-on-bone hit quietly slipped into the melee pool
LITTLE THINGS THAT MAKE A BIG DIFFERENCE
Localization — another full pass across English, Spanish, and Japanese for the new ending, endless mode, and tutorial arrows
Title screen polish — small touches, big vibe
Cutscene system refactor — every cutscene in the game now flows through the same playback pipeline as the demo ending. Cleaner code, more consistent timing.
Combat sensor + body joint tweaks — fewer "wait, that should have hit" moments
WHAT'S COOKING
We're not done. Two big things are still warming up:

Coop Mode — bring a friend. The infrastructure landed in this build, but playable coop tests are the next demo update. The full game will scale it up to four players doing the boot work together. The Ghouls are not going to enjoy this.

FrightGear — still the big one we've been promising since v031. The deep customization hub. The 3D preview rig you can spin around. The cosmetic overrides for when fashion beats stats. It's coming. It's getting prettier every week.
The demo had to end somewhere. You picked the only good way out.

BOOMS THAT BOOM (New Explosions)
Explosions used to be a pop. Now they're a punch in the gut.

The camera doesn't just shake, it lurches. Your view doesn't just flash, it bulges outward like the air itself got slapped. The sound stack now layers a low rumble, a mid crack, and a high sizzle, so every detonation hits like three explosions wearing one trench coat.

Chain reactions got tidier too. One bomb lights up the next, the next lights up the next, and somewhere down the line a Ghoul is having the worst Tuesday of his afterlife. Dominoes. Built by you. Knocked down by you!
HEAVY CHARGE HITS LIKE A FREIGHT TRAIN (Power Boost)
A LITTLE boost of luck and surprise for every heavy punch attack.
Crowds of Ghouls now regret standing close to each other.
GHOULS COME APART NOW (Gibs and Body Pieces)
A death is a souvenir collection.
Zombies now drop heads, hands, and feet when properly dismembered — three new gib pieces to send bouncing off the walls
Skeleton skulls finally behave like skulls. They roll. They bounce. They settle. No more bean-bag heads — these are bones now, and they act like it.
Cracks now appear in the map when you smash Ghouls or objects, you did this!
Bloodless creatures stopped accidentally painting the walls red — they get their own gore palette now. Respect the lore and the walls.
OUR EARS WERE TIRED. WE FIXED IT. (Audio Pass)
Combat got loud. We made it possible to keep your hearing.
New Audio system: "Reduce Loud Combat" — softens the screamy high frequencies during dense stomp-and-explosion sequences. Voicelines stay crisp. Your roommate stays asleep. Everyone wins.
SFX click-glitches during dense play — fixed. Overlapping sound effects now wait a microsecond before retriggering.
Subtle natural pitch variation on impacts — combat sounds less robotic, more alive
New dedicated bone-smash sound — skeletons finally sound like the bag of dry sticks they always were.
Doppler warble during camera shake — gone. The audio holds steady while the camera goes feral.
A new little menu pop on UI confirmations so the shop feels tactile
TUTORIALS THAT POINT AT THE THING
We replaced wall-of-text tutorials with focused callouts. They highlight the exact piece of HUD they're teaching about, point an arrow at it, and dismiss the moment you actually do the thing (like, you know, pressing the skill key). Less reading. More playing. Imagine that.
THE HUD LEARNED MANNERS
Total Ghouls counter on the wave HUD — you finally know exactly how many of them are left to break
New Warning texts with a glow-up — before starting the wave you will know how strong you are, and so the Ghouls..
Skill unlock prompts in plain English: "Skill point available! Press 1, 2, 3 or 4 to choose a Skill." No more squinting at vague icons.
LITTLE THINGS THAT MAKE A BIG DIFFERENCE
Teeth debris is no longer faintly pink. Teeth are white. We double-checked.
Training dummies stopped bleeding when you hit them. They're dummies. They don't have blood.
Title screen, Credits, and the CRT intro all got light polish changes
Localization — every new shop, wave, and tutorial line is now in English, Spanish, and Japanese
MORE Ghouls to fight — Higher waves is a constant ambush from the Ghouls.. harder to survive!
COMING IN THE NEXT UPDATE
We're not done. Two things are warming up in the back room:
Demo Grand Finale — A great final encounter before closing the demo, with optional infinite survival Wave scoring.
Fright Gear — a much deeper customization hub than what the FrightShop can show you. Gear AND cosmetics, layered together. A 3D preview rig you can spin around to admire your own outfit. Filters so you actually find what you own. Cosmetic overrides that let you hide a gear piece behind something that looks better, because honestly, fashion matters when punching Ghouls.
Coop tests are coming. You've spent the last update watching the Ghouls coordinate against you. Soon you'll be the ones doing the coordinating, bring a friend, share the boot work. We'll be opening Coop up for testing in the next demo update.

You bled for the coins. You bought the gear. Now go ruin their day.
