Our item server has been under some strain as new players (and old ones) kept joining the game this weekend (and have continued into this week). This resulted in interruptions to the service this past weekend.
The server has remained up and stable since Monday, but it is still working through a backlog of connections/requests and it may take some time. We are continuing to monitor the situation and seeing how we can improve things.

With our balance tweaks, we aimed to polish up some of the remaining things the State of the Game survey showed as important.
The Glock on the Glock 18 and Riot Shield tandem was a bit scattered on its shot, something a SWAT cannot afford! The spread was reduced to make the gun a tad more reliable
The FAMAS is an interesting gun to play with, but couldn’t compete with high-tier shotguns. Reducing its price makes it a weapon available in earlier waves
The HRG Stunner needed a buff on its regular fire mode damage, so we applied it! Enjoy the carnage, Stunner fans.
Regarding the Firestorm perk Skill, it now makes the ground fire last for longer in addition to the fire spray weapons range increase. Firewall much?
Last but not least, the SWAT can now benefit from its Assault Armor each wave, not only at the beginning of the game.

Hunt them down on the new Bounty Hunt Weekly Mode and make some good Dosh. However, we must warn you that the longer it takes you to take down the Bounties, the more dangerous they’ll be.
Try out the brand new HRG 93R, a burst-fire backup pistol. Tired of your old 9mm? This new handgun weighs like a butterfly but stings like a bee. Make sure you check it out on your Perk menu.

The current Weekly Outbreak rotation will continue working as usual, updated weekly. Weekly rewards will only be granted if the Current Weekly is chosen. Playing any custom Weekly Outbreak won’t grant any reward.

We agreed that the heavily requested ability for players to set their Weekly Outbreaks is a must. The Weekly Selector is now in the game! Choose your favorite Weekly Outbreak to play, or find any specific match in the server browser from our expansive list of Weekly Outbreaks.
Regarding balance, we have made tweaks in some weapons following the feedback from the Community:
The Killerwatt was powerful but could be more comfortable to use. We sped up its alt-fire charge rate, increased the default fire mode damage, and made it easier to control while alt-firing.
The Head Hunter and the Reducto Ray had a shared problem: it took too long for Zeds with altered sizes (either heads or full bodies) to return to their original state. Now, recovery rates are sped up.
Also, the crosshair was enabled for the HRG Vampire, which is always handy!
We heard your feedback regarding the ammo price for one of the most ammo-consuming perks of the game, the SWAT. We hope players enjoy the ammo pricing adjustment.
Many players also expressed that these 3 Support skills weren’t being used as they did not feel enticing enough alternatives to their counterparts. We believe these additions will make choices more interesting for players. The addition of real-time reloads for mag-feed and non-mag-feed guns will allow players to fire off more shots in real-time when supports find themselves in need of more ammo.
Player input suggested that Acidic Rounds was a skill that caused more harm than helped the cooperative playstyle. We’ve taken that feedback and revamped the skill, maintaining the poison theme: now the darts shot from Medic weapons cause more damage and break the Zeds’ poison resistance quicker, allowing the Medic to help in specific situations instead of poisoning Zeds in unwanted scenarios.

Your feedback was heard, and we made the 93R a more viable alternative to the 9mm. With less recoil and a bit more damage per bullet, it should be a great backup option!
All the sound issues of the MG3 were also addressed, and the alt-fire cone was reduced 10º. Now it’s a bit less necessary to get at point-blank distance to cause big damage.
Last but not least, Armor Piercing Shot damage buff was increased an additional 5% to make the skill more attractive!

It’s your best mate, Foster. We’re looking for the brave, possibly demented few willing to volunteer for our most dangerous mission to date. Deep in the Bavarian Alps lies a WWII-era mountain stronghold. Why is this of interest to us? Well, it’s the last known location of the infamous Dr. Hans Volter. (And who knows? Possibly Renfred.) Appropriately, the locals call it “Castle Volter.”
This will be a must-visit sight for fans of ribbed vaults, flying buttresses, hidden rooms, and science untethered from all moral and ethical considerations.
Most significantly, we now know the secret behind Herr Volter’s surprisingly spry, death-defying existence, and it’s not just sleep, exercise, and diet. Here, the original Hans is being kept in stasis so that his own organic matter can be used to create a brood of crumb-snatching little Hans Juniors forever and for all time—unless, of course, we do something about it.
So what’s say we finally put an end to Dr. Volter and his little science experiment? It’s time to consign him to the dustbin of history along with the rest of his old kameraden. It won’t be easy. I can’t guarantee you’ll come back alive, but don’t worry about it: what with modern cloning technology these days, death is only temporary anyway.

Last week, we reported on the Fall Field Improvements coming your way, and today? Some new tools for your trade. Horzine knows in these darkest hours, mercs need the right equipment to succeed and are providing new gear to get the job done.
Enter the Tier 5 MG3 Shredder. This gun is reliable and devastating. It’s no wonder it has been used by militaries worldwide for over 70 years. This fast-firing full-auto machine gun will have Commandos lining up zeds to watch them fall. Featuring a 100-round belt firing 7.62x51mm NATO ammo, mercs finding themselves in an imposing crowd of zeds will rise to the occasion using the alt-fire to activate Shredder rounds that fire in fragments spread in a wide cone formation at a cost to the fire rate, ammo consumption, and damage. Anything caught in these iron sights will have nothing left to experiment on.
Mercs need a weapon that’s there for them day and night, and the off-perk 9mm Pistol has always been there in the most grim of times. But why not get the drop on your targets with the new HRG 93R Pistol? The choice between the classic 9mm and the new HRG 93R will be available in the Perk setup menu.
Lock it in before the chaos of the first hoard is on its way. Next time you head into the field, consider dismantling zeds with a barrage of less accurate, but possibly your style, burst fire with a larger 30-round clip. Can you ever have too much of a good thing? Two fistfuls are better than one. Like the 9mm Pistols, these can be dual-wielded too. Upgrade it up to 4 times for maximum wreckage. They’re guns; you know what to do with ‘em, boys and girls.

Bounty Hunt Weekly Outbreak
Horzine is locating and targeting zeds exhibiting advanced behaviors in this new mission for mercs code-named Bounty Hunt and is looking for fearless mercs to step up! These zeds are more formidable and have developed different instincts, making them harder to take down. Upon discovery, the first oddity our research has uncovered is that these zeds flee when approached. Unlike their counterparts who attack endlessly, seeking out any life to extinguish without concern for themselves, these zeds run away. This sign of self-preservation isn’t the only new concerning behavior! Reports claim they began requiring more firepower as those in the field killed more of their surrounding mobs. It’s as if the extermination of their fellow clones triggers a heightened state. Those who have made contact with these strange zeds also claim them to be more aggressive, dealing more damage as the mindless hoards dwindle. The team recommends dealing with these specific zeds as soon as possible to prevent these effects.
Not all zeds types exhibit this behavior. The reconnaissance informs us they can only confirm Rioters, Quarter Pounders, Gorefiends, and Scrakes. To make further endangering your lives worthwhile, Horzine will reward Dosh per Bounty Zed kill to each member of squads on these missions. However, to keep your focus on these dangerous new threats, there will be no dosh reward for the Non-Bounty Zeds. Don’t worry! There will still be a general Dosh reward for the squad at trader times. To increase security for each merc that steps up, the HUD will reflect how many Bounty Zeds are left and mark them according to the threat level.
Each merc that can successfully meet this challenge will receive 500,000 Vault Dosh and a new look for their Desert Eagle!

Weekly Mode Selector
Tripwire and Saber have enjoyed bringing new unique, and exciting ways to play Killing Floor 2 with the editions of The Weekly Outbreaks. Since the first Weekly Outbreaks edition in the 2017 Summer Sideshow, 21 modes have been dreamed up and added to the game! Just as it sounds, these modes rotate weekly. That’s a lot of time for players to wait for their favorites to be active. Now players will be able to choose their best-loved Weekly Outbreak anytime!
Now, after choosing “Weekly” as the game mode, players can select which Weekly Outbreak they want to play using a dropdown menu. The menu will include a “Current Weekly” option to highlight which Weekly Outbreak is active per the regular rotation. Only current Weekly Outbreaks will grant the Weekly Outbreak Rewards.
FIND A MATCH:
This option prioritizes finding a populated weekly server regardless of the type first. If it needs to perform a server takeover to give the player a weekly server within their region, it will then set to the current active weekly index rather than any hidden preference set within Create a Match or Solo.
CREATE A MATCH:
Creates a match with the chosen Weekly Outbreak, taking over an existing empty server enabled for takeover based on the requested Weekly Outbreak chosen.
SOLO OFFLINE:
It lets you play locally in Solo mode for any Weekly Outbreak. Pick your favorite one using the selector (same filters as Create a Match).
SERVER BROWSER:
Allows the player to search for a specific weekly mode, showing an icon in the main list and indicating the weekly that the Server hosts within the details.

The current Weekly Outbreak rotation will continue working as it was, updated weekly as usual. Weekly rewards will only be granted if the Current Weekly is chosen. Playing any custom Weekly Outbreak won’t grant any reward.
Weapon Balance Changes
The Killerwatt was powerful but could be more comfortable to use. We sped up its alt-fire charge rate, increased the default fire mode damage, and made it easier to control while alt-firing.

The Head Hunter and the Reducto Ray had a shared problem: it took too long for Zeds with altered sizes (heads or entire bodies) to return to their original state. Now recovery rates are sped up.

Perk Balance Changes
We heard your feedback regarding the ammo price for one of the most ammo-consuming perks of the game, the SWAT. All the ammo now costs 10% less (except for the HRG Nailgun).
Many players also expressed that 3 Support skills weren’t being used as they did not feel enticing enough alternatives to their counterparts. Those have now been updated as follows:
Player input suggested that Acidic Rounds is a skill that caused more harm than helped the cooperative playstyle. We’ve taken that feedback and revamped the skill, maintaining the poison theme: now the darts shot from Medic weapons cause more damage over time, allowing the Medic to help in specific situations instead of poisoning zeds in unwanted scenarios.
