We just released Sun Down Survivors Patch 1.4: Final Boss update, now available on Steam! This patch includes a final boss and cutscenes for the game’s ending, some game rebalances, and more!
Before we get too into the updates and changes, we’re super excited to announce that Sun Down Survivors is participating in the Shoot ‘Em Up Festival this year! Sun Down Survivors will be on sale for 25% off from September 25th to October 2nd!

Without further ado, let’s jump into the new update!
First and foremost, Sun Down Survivors now has an ending and more replayability! If you can survive through all four seasons, you can now face off against the mighty Demon King himself — King Minos! Can you defeat Minos and restore peace to the world of Sun Down before it’s too late?

The End:

Added a final boss after you defeat Winter: Minos, the Resurrected Demon King
Added a cutscene after you defeat Winter
New Effect:

After defeating any seasonal boss, the Skill XP Magnet is triggered
Collects all current XP from across the map and brings it directly to you
Balance:

Added Difficulty Modes:
Year 1 - Easy
Year 2 - Moderate
Year 3 - Hard
Year 4 - Challenger
Increased likelihood to get upgrades for skills that have already been obtained
2 and 3 Star Monster Camps are more challenging
Adjusted Monsters to scale better with difficulty over time:
Mammoth, Stampeding Giant Boss- 2000 Health -> 2500 Health
Torgo, Sandy Fortress Boss- 5000 Health -> 6000 Health
Hatorbee, Shinobee Assassin Boss- 90 Damage -> 100 Damage
Bulky, Permafrost Moose- 50000 Health -> 35000 Health
Bulky, Permafrost Moose- 250 Damage -> 120 Damage
Fall Slime- 300 Health -> 275 Health
Mole Monster- 700 Health -> 600 Health
Fire Octopus- 475 Health -> 450 Health
Squid Monster- 700 Health -> 600 Health
Magic Bee Monster- 800 Health -> 700 Health
Winter Slime- 1000 Health -> 900 Health
Winter Slime- 100 Damage -> 90 Damage
Leaf Lion- 275 Health -> 300 Health
Leaf Lion- 100 Damage -> 95 Damage
Snow Bro- 1400 Health -> 1100 Health
Snow Bro- 125 Damage -> 100 Damage
Winter Penguin- 1750 Health -> 1400 Health
Winter Penguin- 125 Damage -> 110 Damage
Midnight Bat- 2500 Health -> 2000 Health

Bug Fixes:

Fixed issues causing players to lag in Winter
Fixed issues with the cliffs changing seasons before the environment

It's Director Bruce with a patch to rebalance the whole game, fix some bugs, and add dozens of points of polish to the game!
While Sun Down Survivors started as a game that was incredibly difficult, as time has gone on, players have improved dramatically-- even new players, who have gained EXP through playing other games across the genre.
So while a lot of these balance changes are targeted towards making the game difficulty curve slightly smoother, they also just make game more difficult to accommodate all the extra level ups players have had across the genre. Survivors genre games are simply just more fun when the game challenges you to make tough decisions and try new different builds or characters.
Along with this patch to rebalance the game, for next patch, we're also going to be adding in a final boss and add more depth to the game to make more deep builds. We can't wait to show you what we're working on!
Balance Changes:

intimidation Spell is now only available on Darius
Increased Elite Shadeclaw HP from 1200 -> 1400
Increased Mammooth's HP from 2000 to 2500
Slightly Increased Mammooth's movement speed
Lion HP 250 -> 275
Fire Octopus HP 425 -> 475
Mole HP: 600 ->700
Yellow Ghost HP: 100 -> 115
Fall Slime: 275 HP -> 300
Torto (Wave) HP 350 -> 375
Angry Dog HP 275 -> 300
Top Off: 25 HP restored per level -> 20
Bulk Up 40 Max HP -> 35 Max HP
Vitality(2) from Medium Difficulty Camps 70 Max HP -> 50
Bugfix: Hand of Gold(2) from Medium Difficulty Camps now correctly grants 6%
Chicken Friend(2) from Medium Difficulty Camps: Grants 2 Chickens for 20% reduced damage -> 22% Reduced Damage
Chicken Friend(3) from Hard Difficulty Camps: Grants 3 chickens for 10% reduced damage -> 20% Reduced Damage
Hand of Gold: 8% Chance to drop 5 gold -> 9%
Might(3) From Hard Difficulty Camps: +24% damage -> +20% damage
Vitality(3): 100 Max HP -> 60 Max HP
First Strike: 30% Increased damage to targets who are full HP -> 25%
Pets:

William Scale's arrow projectile speed: 10 -> 13
Pet Stormy Damage 5 -> 6
Pet Spirit Fox Damage 4 -> 5
Aluvius Speed: 6 -> 7
Aluvius Attack Range: 14 -> 17
Gems:

Gem Nodes drop 15-25 gems -> 10 gems
Monster dropped gem nodes drop 20 gems -> 10 gems
Seasonal Quest Rewards:

implemented dozens sound effects for UI, many spell FX, and pets!
implemented a slightly smoother camera
Bugfixes:

Leaving the house should now more reliably load correctly
Resolutions are now forced to be 16:9 such that all UI elements will fit on the screen without being cut off
Hand of Gold(2) now correctly grants 6% chance to gain 5 gold

We just released Sun Down Survivors Patch 1.2: Characters and Content Update, now available on Steam! This patch includes 2 new unlockable characters, post-game leveling up, more abilities to unlock, seasonal map art, and more!
Let’s jump right into the new patch!
A nice fall day with a perfectly timed arrow.
Character Updates:

Artemis, the Amari Bounty Hunter
Start with Hunter’s Arrow, an arrow that can hit multiple enemies in a row
Jas, the Master Summoner
Start with Aluvius, a pet that automatically deals massive damage with a bite
New House Interiors and Exteriors for Artemis and Jas
Updated Portraits for Lucia and Darius
Updated Lucia Character Sprite
Fireball is now exclusive to Lucia
Sword Thrust is now exclusive to Darius
Hunter’s Arrow is now exclusive to Artemis
Characters can now be unlocked using Gems
Characters now have idle animations when standing still
Weapons Rack:

Players can now use the Weapons Rack in their house interior to upgrade stats permanently across all runs
Stat Upgrades can be done up to 11 times, depending on the upgrade
Gems are required to train up your stats, so make sure to collect any that you find!
Gems can be collected by killing monsters or mining
New Spells and Cards:

Added in new Pets:
Stormy, the Angry Cloud
Crumble, the Tough Bodyguard
William Scale, the Handsome Archer
Spirit Fox, the Arrow apparition
Tutty, the King Turtle
Added Seasonal Rewards obtained by surviving through the next season
Added Unique Romance Cards you receive by romancing May and Ethan
Quests:

Added new Quest System to improve on tutorials and add minor objectives throughout the game
Complete quests to obtain extra money or gems
Balance:

Buffed monsters and monster spawn rates
Adjusted day and night time lengths
Monsters now generally move faster
Bosses now generally move faster
Adjusted spell damage and attack speed of multiple spells
Other Changes:

Added new Wheat Cannon
Added Pig Barn Animal
Added new foragables around the map
Added seasonal variants to the map
Added new buff items to the Shop
Updated fishing spots for clarity
Added SFX for dialogue
Added more SFX
Added a pettable cat in each player house
You can pet the cat for 25 extra health before every run
