Steam Cloud saves can now be controlled via the Steam client — Previously, the only way to enable or disable Steam Cloud Saves for BG1:EE, BG2:EE, and IWD:EE was within the Gameplay Options of the games. Now, Steam Cloud Saves are controlled by the Steam client and the individual game properties settings.
New localizations — We added the following community-translated languages to Siege of Dragonspear: Chinese Simplified, Korean, and Russian. Note: the Korean translation is currently 89% complete.
SoD language switch — Switching to the SOD campaign will now only display languages where SOD was translated. Previously, the game always displayed the full list of languages that BG1’s base game supported. If you are playing BG1 or The Black Pits in a language that SOD doesn’t support when you switch to the SOD campaign, the game will change the language to English automatically.
Dynamic language support — We made changes to allow easier language updates and additions in the future.
Chinese font change — At the request of the Chinese localization volunteers, we have changed the font for Chinese.
Font Size saved per font language — The Font Size zoom setting is now saved per font language.
Indexing Fix — Resolved an off‑by‑one error in rebuilt BIF files that affected some community tools.
Added Apple Silicon support — With native support for Apple Silicon, on Mac devices you can expect faster app launch times, overall improved performance, and faster rendering. In addition, laptops will benefit from lower power consumption while playing, leading to longer battery life.
(FYI) Android Modding now works — This update resolves a bug that caused incorrect permissions, preventing access to game files on Android via PC or file browsers.
(FYI) iOS Modding now supported — The game on iOS now stores and reads data from a location visible to standard file browsers. You can manage saves and other files directly on your device or by connecting it to a computer.
If you have enabled Steam Cloud Saves with the Gameplay Options setting, Steam Cloud Saves will continue to be enabled for you. Please note that with this in-game option enabled the game will sync your save games with the Steam Cloud Saves even if this option is disabled within the Steam client Cloud Save settings.
If you disable the in-game Steam Cloud Saves option, this option will no longer appear in the options menu. To enable Steam Cloud Saves, you will need to use the Steam Account and Application settings. See Steam Account and Application settings for Steam Cloud Saves.

Your feedback since February has been invaluable—please keep it coming as you try out the latest fixes and features.
The short version: this is a polished release candidate for the 2.7.3 patch across Baldur’s Gate I & II and Icewind Dale: Enhanced Editions. If testing goes smoothly, the full release is planned for late June.
🛠 Patch Notes
Indexing Fix — Resolved an off‑by‑one error in rebuilt BIF files that affected some community tools. Thanks to @argent77 for identifying the issue
SoD Language Handling — When switching to the Siege of Dragonspear campaign, the game now shows only the languages SOD actually supports. If your current BG1/Black Pits language isn’t available in SoD, the game will automatically switch to English
iOS Restore Purchases — The “Restore Purchases” button has returned to BG1 and BG2, allowing the game to sync with Apple’s purchase history. It was unintentionally removed in version 2.5
iOS File Extension Fix — .iwddata files are once again recognized as valid Icewind Dale files. Directly copying files into user‑accessible directories is now the recommended approach
Mobile Keyboard Improvements — The UI now shifts so the text cursor remains visible above the virtual keyboard, preventing cursor loss and mis‑registered taps on both Android and iOS
Android Foldable Support — Fixed UI scaling and touch‑input issues on foldable and tall‑aspect devices. The game now properly resizes when the device’s screen configuration changes
Android DLC Display Fix — BG2’s Fists of the Fallen DLC now correctly shows as installed. DLC in BG1 and BG2 will display “Installed” after purchase rather than simply disabling the Buy button
Android Character Export — Exporting a character now also places the file into the user‑accessible directory
Android Override Folder Optimization — Fixed long boot delays caused by large /override/ folders in 2.7.2 beta. Importing is now manual via an in‑game UI instead of automatically triggered at startup

[BG1, BG2 & IWD] Fixed the 2.7.1.0 issue where English and other Latin-script languages would appear in ALL CAPS.
NOTE: If you played in a language that appeared in all-caps in 2.7.1, you must make a manual edit to the Baldur.lua file for this fix to apply.
Baldur.lua file can be found at /Documents//Baldur.lua Ex. “C:\\Users\\\\Documents\\Baldur's Gate - Enhanced Edition\\Baldur.lua”
These steps are only necessary if you are experiencing the all-caps bug.
Option 1 (if you do not make personal edits to Baldur.lua)
Delete your Baldur.lua file, the game will recreate it with correct values
Option 2 (if you have edits in Baldur.lua you wish to keep)
Open Baldur.lua in a text editor
find all lines like the one below and delete them (a “Fonts” line that uses “STONESML”):

We’re excited to announce a new beta test for our upcoming 2.7 patch for BG:EE, SoD, BGII:EE, and IWD:EE. We’ll begin testing on PC, Steam only, as it’s the most technically convenient for us, and later bring the update to mobile as well.
We know it’s been a long wait since 2.6 (and for iOS players, since 2.5). We’re truly sorry it took this long. With 2026 marking 14 years since BG:EE first launched on PC, we want to thank you for staying with us on this journey.
Before diving into the patch notes, we’d like to share our design philosophy for future Infinity Engine updates at this stage of the games’ life cycle.
Our goal is to keep these classics running smoothly amid evolving technical requirements and operating systems on both PC and mobile. Unfortunately, we don’t have the resources to update the console versions: those would require extensive certification processes we can’t currently support. We also want to update PST:EE on PC and mobile in the future, but because it’s on a different patch level from BG and IWD, it might follow later.
We’re focused on improving the overall quality-of-life experience. That’s why the 2.7 update introduces proper cloud saving and native support for Apple Silicon Macs.
We’re also finally able to bring community-created localizations into the games. We know this took far too long, and we appreciate your patience. The good news is that adding new translations will now be much easier on our end, so future community-prepared localizations can be integrated more smoothly.
Everyone at Beamdog is, first and foremost, a fan of these legendary games. It’s an honor to continue supporting them nearly 15 years after the Enhanced Editions, and more than 25 years after the original Baldur’s Gate.
IE 2.7.0.0 Patch Notes
Dynamic language support. We have made changes to the BG1:EE, BG2:EE, and IWD:EE games to allow easier language updates and additions in the future. These updates should not require a patch on most store fronts and we should be able to update most games on an ad hoc basis. Launch the Beta on Steam

Verify that the Steam cloud save options work as expected
Verify macOS versions run as expected on Apple Silicon
Provide the following feedback (if appropriate for your device)
Windows - I am able to play the game and use cloud saves
MacOS (Intel CPU) - I am able to play the game and use cloud saves
MacOS (Apple Silicon CPU) - I am able to play the game and use cloud saves
Linux - I am able to play the game and use cloud saves
I was able to play the game, but don't use cloud saves (please note platform)
I was NOT able to get the start screen (please explain)
I was able to start the game, but there is an issue with cloud saves (please explain)
How to opt-in and verify in-game you're running the correct version:
In your Steam Library, Right-Click Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition and choose “Properties”
Click on the Beta Tab
Choose the road_to_2.7 in the drop down menu
If you don't see the road_to_2.7 in the drop down menu, please restart Steam
In-game, on the main menu, you will see that the build is 2.7
