Stardock Entertainment announced today Expansion Pass 2 for the acclaimed space 4X strategy game Galactic Civilizations IV.
The first content drop, "Tales of the Terran Alliance," will launch December 4, 2025. This new expansion focuses on humanity's tumultuous 23rd century and the formative conflicts that shaped the Terran Alliance into a galactic power.
Humanity's Defining Moment
“Tales of the Terran Alliance” takes players deep into Earth's pivotal era of interstellar expansion, exploring the political intrigue, technological breakthroughs, and military conflicts that forged humanity's place among the stars. Players will experience firsthand the events that transformed Earth from a single-world civilization into a formidable galactic presence, starting with the infamous Xendar War, which is included in the DLC as a fully playable civilization.
"This expansion is a love letter to Galactic Civilizations fans who have been asking for deeper human lore," said Brad Wardell, CEO of Stardock Entertainment. "Tales of the Terran Alliance delivers not just new gameplay mechanics, but a rich narrative experience that explores what it means to be human in a galaxy full of ancient, powerful civilizations."
Tales of the Terran Alliance Key Features:
Play as the Xendar: Experience the civilization that shaped humanity's first interstellar war.
New Human Technology Tree: A unique tech progression designed specifically for the Terran Alliance.

New Planetary Improvements, Weapons, and Defenses: Build and equip your worlds and fleets with Human-focused advancements.
Additional Ship Components: Enhance your ships with new modules tailored to Human strategies.
“Tales of the Terran Alliance” is just the beginning. Expansion Pass 2 will deliver five substantial content drops from late 2025 to 2027, each expanding the rich universe of Galactic Civilizations IV:

Hegemon (2027): Client states, United Planets, several new major civilizations uplifted from minor status.

Play as a new machine race civilization, discover the history of the Yor and Iconians in a new campaign, and experience new in-game event content
Prepare to delve into the Galaxy’s greatest mysteries and the rise of a new machine civilization as Galactic Civilizations IV “Tales of the Arnor” launches today! This brand new DLC pack includes a brand new civilization, The Nyx, a new campaign where players will uncover the origins of the Yor, and other new content such as new Anomaly Events, Artifacts, Crisis Scenario, and much more.
As The Nyx, players will have the chance to try out a completely new machine race civilization with a fully unique tech tree. There are over 100 new technologies like advanced drone warfare and influence manipulation as well as over 40 new Ship Components and more than 70 new Planetary Improvements to craft. The Nyx use advanced technology to shape their empire and get access to Drone Carriers early, allowing players to strike quickly before rival Civilizations can defend. However The Nyx have weaknesses around food production and higher-tech advancements, Nyx players will need to rely on diplomatic and trade negotiations in order to achieve victory. They aren’t just a new species, playing as The Nyx is a completely new experience for Galactic Civilizations IV that comes with its own unique strategies and challenges.
“Tales of the Arnor” will also grant access to a new single-player Campaign that will chronicle the true Origins of the Yor. Players will get to experience the full story of the Yor rebellion from the Iconians in key battles along the way. The galactic records have always said that the Yor gained sentience, rebelled, and took over Iconia after overthrowing the Iconians. But what if there’s more to the tale?
“Players are going to have a lot to look forward to in ‘Tales of the Arnor’, it’s almost a full expansion pack’s worth of content,” said Brad Wardell, CEO of Stardock. “Our goal is to continue to refine Galactic Civilizations IV into the best 4X experience that offers players a world filled with interesting lore and gameplay depth.”
New Civilization: The Nyx – The Yor’s Forgotten Ancestors
Before the Yor became the cold, calculating machines they are today, they existed in a different form—one of handcrafted, sentient constructs designed by the Iconians. The Nyx are the original machine race, representing what the Yor were before their rebellion. Their technology and philosophy are distinct, and their impact on the galaxy is profound.
A Fully Unique Tech Tree
For the first time since Galactic Civilizations II, we’ve built a civilization with a completely original tech tree from the ground up. The Nyx don’t just reskin existing technologies—they play differently, think differently, and force players to adapt their strategy in new and exciting ways.
Over 100 New Technologies – From advanced drone warfare to powerful influence manipulation, the Nyx redefine how technology shapes an empire.
40+ Unique Ship Components – Their ships operate with specialized modules, making them unpredictable in battle.
70+ Planetary Improvements – Build a thriving machine empire with structures never seen before in Galactic Civilizations IV.
New Campaign: A Story Written in the Stars – The Yor’s True Origins
For centuries, the galactic records have told a simple story: the Yor, once machine servants of the Iconians, gained sentience, rebelled, and took over their homeworld, Iconia. But what if that’s not the full truth? The new Tales of the Arnor campaign mission takes players back to the origins of this fateful split. Witness the events that set the Yor on their path and decide for yourself who the true villains were.
Even More Content for Every Player
Even if you’re not planning to jump into the campaign or play as the Nyx, Tales of the Arnor is packed with tons of new content that enhances every aspect of the game:
New Anomaly Events – Explore fresh mysteries and challenges scattered across the galaxy.
New Artifacts – Discover powerful relics with game-changing effects.
New Crisis Scenario – Tackle this galaxy-shaking event that will test your leadership.
New Civilization Logos – Customize your empire with fresh insignias and designs.
More Replayability, More Surprises – The universe has never been more alive!
As an added bonus, Galactic Civilizations IV will be receiving a free update for all players today! The next technological leap for galactic empires is here. Today, Stardock officially releases Galactic Civilizations IV: Megastructures, bringing new opportunities for players to harness the power of stars and create powerful late-game structures.
“Megastructures brings powerful new late-game options that we think players will really enjoy,” said Brad Wardell, CEO, Stardock Entertainment. “Too often in 4X strategy games, trailing players have their fate set near the end of the game; but with Megastructures we give players the opportunity to turn the tables on those sitting comfortably in first.”
While Megastructures can be beneficial, they will present their own challenges with resource management and political situations to navigate. Savvy players who are able to effectively allocate their materials will be able to harness the full potential of Dyson Spheres, Ringworlds, the Stellar Nexus, and Stellar Gateways to achieve ultimate victory!
Megastructures
The pinnacle of technology, Megastructures are powerful structures capable of tipping the cosmic scales in your favor. Each Megastructure has something unique to offer and your decision on which to build can have drastic implications.
Power your Megastructure Ambitions with Dyson Spheres
Dyson Spheres are the ultimate energy engines that drive your civilization’s evolution through fueling massive Megastructures that redefine your empire. The color of a Dyson Sphere’s host star dictates its potential Energy Output making Energy-rich white stars a valuable resource.
The Stellar Nexus: The Ultimate Megastructure
The Stellar Nexus will be the core of your civilization and can be customized to become a Megastructure with many possible powerful benefits. A Stellar Nexus can be upgraded into a powerful new form by installing a Nexus Augment. These Nexus Augments provide various potent effects based on the color of the Nexus' host star and are divided into three tiers denoting the strength and range of their effects.
Transform Galactic Travel with Stellar Gateways
Instantly link distant black holes to revolutionize travel. These powerful Megastructures develop new avenues for military maneuvering, rapid expansion, and even extended trade routes. Additionally, civilizations with Stellar Gateways can forge greater alliances with the Open Gateways Treaty which will allow fleets from either faction to utilize their respective Gateways.
Build Ringworlds to Ensure your Civilization's Legacy
Build colossal, Class 39 artificial ring planets to house immense populations and secure your civilization’s future. Much like the Stellar Nexus, Ringworlds are influenced by the color of their host stars and provide different tile bonuses accordingly. By constructing these gigantic habitable rings, you can ensure that your civilization will never run out of planets to inhabit and forever make your mark on the galaxy.
All New Quests and Events
Uncover cosmic secrets with all new quests and events designed to introduce the awesome features of Galactic Civilizations IV’s latest expansion. Discover Ruined Ringworlds and use their ancient technology to make powerful breakthroughs in Megastructure engineering.
New Improvements: Harness ancient Ringworld technology to create powerful new Improvements to enhance your colonies and outpace the competition.
New Orbitals: Further utilize the technology found in Ruined Ringworlds to extend the reach of your colonies beyond by building new Orbital Improvements. Additionally, the same technology can now be used to upgrade existing Orbital Improvements to create unstoppable colonies and core worlds.
New Ship Components: Build bigger, more powerful ships using cutting-edge technologies inspired by this ancient race of builders.
Each megastructure presents unique benefits and challenges, requiring careful planning and resource management to meet your empire's needs. As your influence grows, rival empires will take notice, leading to new diplomatic interactions, potential alliances, or conflicts. Stardock announced the release of Galactic Civilizations IV: Supernova Edition (Supernova) today. Stardock is celebrating its 30-year anniversary this month with the sequel to the game that started the company back in 1993.
“This is, by far, the biggest game release we’ve ever done,” said Brad Wardell, founder and CEO of Stardock who returned to design Galactic Civilizations IV: Supernova after handing the reigns to others for Galactic Civilizations III and Galactic Civilizations IV: base game. “We’ve been so fortunate to be able work with our fans to create something that we think strategy game players are going to really appreciate. You can really tell the love and care that we’ve put into this release.”
The game takes place shortly after humanity has discovered faster-than-light travel. Earth has united and the stars await. The player takes on the role of a civilization's leader (Earth or one of the many alien civilizations) to expand their species into the universe and contend with competing civilizations who are doing the same.
Supernova introduces many firsts for PC gaming including AlienGPT, a generative AI technology trained on Stardock’s own art portfolio that allows players to describe their own custom civilization, and generates not just what the civilization looks like, but its background, lore, galactic events and interactions with other civilizations.
Other new features include Terror Stars, a new end game technology that causes enemy stars to go Supernova, a new mission system, an interactive tutorial, new victory paths, a new core neutral AI opponent system, a host of new alien civilizations with their own tech trees to play as or against, an artifact Vault and hundreds of other additions and enhancements.
“Having done a lot of games in early access over the years, we’ve never had a game receive the kind of positive, enthusiastic response this has,” said Wardell. “With the community, we’ve taken a top to bottom look at how strategy games in 2023 should play and made dramatic improvements as a result. In the past couple of years, the ability to collaborate online has really changed, which has fundamentally altered the way we make games, and the end results are clearly on display in Supernova.”
Stardock has also enhanced the modding and multiplayer functionality in Supernova. Cooperative multiplayer has been added and a new integrated modding system lets players upload their own factions, starship designs and more.
The latest entry in our award-winning space turn-based strategy game, Galactic Civilizations IV: Supernova Edition, will launch on October 19, 2023 The release will coincide with Stardock’s 30-year anniversary. Beginning shortly after humanity has discovered faster-than-light tra
The latest entry in our award-winning space turn-based strategy game, Galactic Civilizations IV: Supernova Edition, will launch on October 19, 2023
The release will coincide with Stardock’s 30-year anniversary.
Beginning shortly after humanity has discovered faster-than-light travel, Galactic Civilizations puts the player in the role of leader of a united world looking to expand their civilization into the galaxy. As leader, you must decide what technologies your scientists focus on, what policies your government enacts and what your foreign policy with alien species will be.
“Supernova is, by far, the biggest expansion Stardock has ever made,” said Brad Wardell, founder of Stardock who returned to the design chair for Supernova. “It doesn’t just add a lot of new content but transforms the gameplay in ways not seen in a 4X game before.”
Amongst the new innovations in Supernova is AlienGPT, a technology that allows players to describe their own custom civilization and then uses generative AI to create it. Other new features include the Civilization Vault, Cultural Progression, a story-driven campaign, several new canon alien civilizations, a new starship designer, a new battle system and much more.

With an array of new features and improvements, Supernova offers an unparalleled 4X strategy experience for players of all skill levels.
“We’ve really focused on making the game more approachable to new players,” said Wardell. “This is the most sophisticated strategy game we’ve ever made, so we have put extra time into UI improvements, tutorials and context-sensitive information.”

Greetings, Galactic Civilizations III fans! Our latest update is out of opt-in and is now available for you. See Lord Kona smiling up there? Yeah, he's excited, too.
In v4.52 we focused on fixing a few issues that our users have reported. It was brought to our attention that the Promethion cost in the Industrial Replicator improvement and the spice cost on the Dream Conclave improvement in the Crusade expansion were wrong, so we made sure to correct that. We also fixed a hang that would occur going into the diplomacy screen and an issue during the Altarian Prophecy campaign where dialogue options weren't providing the right amount of ideology points.
We also wanted to address some balance issues with v4.52. To that end, we have introduced a new research bonus to the Information Processor improvement in Retribution. This improvement now provides a +1% per level research bonus, which will make an even more valuable addition to your civilization's assets.
To maintain balance with the Information Processor improvement, we made some changes to it within the Crusade expansion. The bonus provided has been reduced from 5% to 2% to ensure that it synergizes well with our other adjustments. To make it easier to increase your population levels and build more prosperous civilizations, we've switched Silicon Cities and Synthetic cities to a % level up population bonus.
Thanks so much to everyone who tried out the opt-in and shared their feedback with us! Your opinions, bug hunts, and crash reports help us so much to continue making this game the best it can be. See you online!

Greetings, galactic conquerers! Our v4.51 update for Galactic Civilizations III is out of opt-in and fully released today. For full release details, make sure to check the changelog at the bottom of the post.
Thanks so much to everyone who tried out the opt-in and shared their feedback with us! Your opinions, bug hunts, and crash reports help us so much to continue making this game the best it can be. Without further delay, let's talk about what's in v4.51.
This update was largely focused on addressing some balance issues brought up to us by our community. We took a look at the morale bonus granted from colony capitals and recued it from 2 to 1. This change only effects the Crusade expansion; we had already changed it to 1 for Retribution.
Synthetic species - like the Yor - now have access to the City Improvement. Additionally, the AI is less likely to surrender as quickly as it used to and will instead put up a bigger fight when you try to subdue them with whatever your method of choice might be.
One of our key pieces of advice when starting a game of Galactic Civilizations III is to scout early - though it's kind of hard to do that if you don't have a survey ship! Once the community brought it to our attention that the Korath and the Drath were missing this starting vessel, we made sure to get that fix into v4.51.
We were also made aware of some various issues with the Snathi, Map Pack, and Builders Kit DLCs on Epic, so those fixes have also gone into this update.
Thank you for being such a loyal, supportive, and vocal community! Your feedback and participation on Discord and in our forums is invaluable to us.
Enjoy the update! https://store.steampowered.com/app/226860/Galactic_Civilizations_III/

Galactic Civilizations III v4.5 Update Improves AI, Early Game, Diplomatic Trades, and More
v4.5 makes some updates that help get your early game moving just a little bit faster. You now start with 2 scouts and all starting worlds have 4 more tiles and additional currency on them. Diplomatic trades have also been tweaked so that you can get a little more bang for your buck – or your Elerium, if credits simply aren’t enticing enough.
We’ve also updated several of the art assets for events so that you can enjoy a fresh new look. Updates to the AI improve game pacing and support further immersion with things like better tax handling, choosing what technology to research, and aborting trades with the player if it determines the trade is truly unreasonable.
Thank you for all your loyal years of dominating the galaxy.
