We have officially kicked off Gamescom with our first The Division 2 panel, joined by Creative Director Yannick Banchereau and Game Director Alex Birzanu to take a look at what’s coming up next for The Division 2.
CROSSPLAY ARRIVES IN NOVEMBER
One of the most requested additions to The Division 2 is finally on the way: Crossplay launches this November.
Bringing Agents together across platforms has required significant work behind the scenes, including partially rebuilding the game’s online architecture. With Crossplay, your platform will no longer stand between you and other Agents, opening up matchmaking and allowing more of the community to play together.
When Crossplay launches:
All players will be migrated to the Crossplay environment.
Crossplay will be enabled by default.
Players can disable Crossplay from the Character Selection screen.
With Crossplay enabled, you can encounter and play with Agents from all supported platforms who also have it enabled.
With Crossplay disabled, you will only encounter players on your own platform.
Clans will be migrated to Crossplay, allowing Agents from different platforms to join the same Clan.
Clan capacity will increase from 50 to 100 members.
Leaderboards will be reset with the introduction of Crossplay, with Crossplay settings also reflected in leaderboard display.
Beyond making it easier to play with friends regardless of platform, Crossplay is intended to create a healthier matchmaking environment and reduce queue times across the game.
We’ll share more details as we get closer to its November launch.
YEAR 8 SEASON 3: RED HORIZON
Red Horizon launches August 27, bringing the Cleaners to Washington, D.C.
Following the events of Battle for Brooklyn, the Cleaners have lost their supply of purple flame and are heading to D.C. in search of a new source. Their presence will grow across the city throughout the season, with Cleaner activities, Elite Kill Squads, and more.
This season’s Modifier system centers on a new Pressure Gauge. Build it through combat, then experiment with different Active and Passive Modifiers to change how you use it.
The Dark Zone is also getting two major updates. Following community feedback, the Toxic PvE Dark Zone will become a permanent part of the game. On the PvP side, Blackout joins the rotation, removing the usual power restrictions and allowing Agents to bring the full strength of their builds into the Dark Zone, including SHD Watch bonuses, Expertise, and Prototype Gear.

A FIRST LOOK AT YEAR 8 SEASON 4
Red Horizon isn’t the end of Year 8.
During the panel, we shared an early look at what Agents can expect from Season 4, including the return of the Black Tusk and a hint at a possible “White Tusk” deployment.
Season 4 will also bring major changes to several of Year 8's endgame systems.
Prototype Gear is being reworked to give players significantly more control over how they progress and customize their items, reducing the system’s reliance on RNG. The changes will touch Expertise, Augments, and introduce new ways to fine-tune Prototype Gear.
Escalations are also evolving in Season 4. Season 3 addresses one of the biggest pain points by preventing tokens from being lost after a disconnect, but there’s more ahead. In Season 4, Agents will have greater control over the challenge and rewards of their Escalations, while changes to Mutators will make them more consistent and predictable.
We’ll have much more to share about Season 4 in the future.
OUR NEXT EXPANSION: ECHOES OF CENTRAL PARK
Finally, we revealed the title of the next expansion for The Division 2: Echoes of Central Park.
New York City has always had a special connection to The Division, but there is one iconic location we have never truly explored: Central Park.
During the outbreak, Central Park was used as a mass burial ground. Years later, what remains inside the park is unknown.
That question sits at the heart of Echoes of Central Park.
The expansion begins with a distress call coming from somewhere inside the park. Across the Upper West Side, rumors are spreading about what lies beyond its gates.
Agents will need to investigate those reports, prepare for what lies ahead, and eventually enter Central Park to uncover what has happened there since the outbreak.
Echoes of Central Park leans into a darker atmosphere, where fear can be just as dangerous as any enemy.
What happens when that fear begins to spread? And how do you fight something you cannot always see?

Gamescom gave us a lot to talk about this year. We shared more on what is ahead for The Division 2, including Crossplay, our next DLC, a first tease of Season 4, and, of course, Red Horizon. If you missed the panel, you can catch up on everything we covered here . Now it is time

MODIFIERS

The Cleaners are moving into Washington, D.C., and their presence will be hard to miss. They are becoming the main threat in Retaliations this season, with 95 Company Elite Squad becoming part of the threat.

Their growing presence sets the stage for this season’s Modifiers, and the heat does not stop with the Cleaners.

GLOBAL MODIFIER: UNDER PRESSURE

Under Pressure revolves around a Pressure Gauge that builds as you fight. Kills, headshots, multikills, Skill kills, Status Effect kills, fire kills, and kills made by other players in your group all contribute to the Gauge.

The more Pressure you build, the stronger the bonuses you receive.

By default, the Pressure Gauge provides Status Effects as its primary bonus. If Status Effects are not what your build needs, some Passive Modifiers can replace the Gauge's primary bonus with Signature Weapon Damage or Hazard Protection instead.

ACTIVE MODIFIERS

Your Pressure Gauge is also used to activate one of the season's three Active Modifiers.

Unlike previous seasons, this time Active Modifiers do not have a general cooldown. Once you have enough Pressure, you can activate one when you need it. The Gauge resets once the Active Modifier ends.

FIERY AURA

Secondary Attribute: Armor Regen.
While active, it gives you increased Armor Regen and Damage Resistance, with additional protection while sprinting. Enemies that get close to you are also set on fire the first time they enter the Modifier's range.
At higher levels, its defensive bonuses become stronger, and burning unique enemies can also regenerate Bonus Armor.

VICARIOUS COMBUSTION

Secondary Attribute: Headshot Damage.
Landing a headshot on an enemy that is already burning also applies Burn to nearby enemies. As the Modifier levels up, this effect reaches a larger area.
At its highest level, headshots can apply Burn directly.

SIGNED, SHIELD, DELIVERED

Secondary Attribute: Skill Efficiency.
While active, it improves your Signature Weapon performance, Shield Health, and Shield Active Regen. Kills made with a Signature Weapon, or while using a shield, refill your magazine without consuming ammo from your reserves.
At its highest level, these kills can also extend the duration of the Active Modifier.

PASSIVE MODIFIERS

Red Horizon comes with 20 Passive Modifiers, and they can help you adjust how Under Pressure works with your build.

Some can help you build Pressure faster or hold onto it for longer, others add new interactions with fire, Skills, grenades, shields, and Signature Weapons.

The default primary bonus of the Pressure Gauge is Status Effects, but with Passive Modifiers like New Formula: Beta and New Formula: Gamma, you can swap it for Signature Weapon Damage or Hazard Protection.

HOSTILE MODIFIERS

Hostile Modifiers will also play into the Pressure Gauge this season, with enemies able to drain your Pressure or make certain actions work against you.

Setting an affected enemy on fire is the only way to permanently remove or reverse the effect.

Draining Presence drains ammunition from your magazine and reduces your Pressure while the affected enemy is close to you.
Achilles' Heal restores Health to the affected enemy and nearby allies when you break their weak points or armor pieces, while also reducing your Pressure.
Thousand Cuts reduces your Pressure whenever the affected enemy hits you and applies a stacking Damage Reduction debuff.

NEW WEAPONS, GEAR, AND TALENTS

GEAR AND BRAND SET UPDATES

For Gear Sets, we are continuing to rebalance them around the idea that the more difficult a set is to use at its full potential, the more it should give back in return.

For Red Horizon, the updates focus mostly on Red Core Gear Sets, with Ortiz: Exuro and True Patriot also included. Blue and Yellow Core Gear Sets will be addressed in future updates.

Brand Sets are also getting some changes. Bonuses such as Shock Resistance, Health, Incoming Repairs, and Swap Speed are being removed, and Protection from Elites now added as a new Brand Set bonus.

We have also reorganized weapon bonuses so that, for each weapon type, at least one Brand offers that bonus as its 1-piece bonus and another as its 2-piece bonus.

There’s also one broader change to how we’ll handle Brand Sets going forward. Starting with Red Horizon, instead of adding new Brand Sets, we’ll add more Named pieces with Perfect Talents or Attributes to existing Brands.

WEAPON UPDATES

Steel & Sons ACR

Base Stability has been increased, reducing vertical coil.
Maximum stacks increased from 3 to 4.
Destroying an enemy weak point now causes them to take +30% Amplified Damage from you for 5s, up from 10%.

DETERMINED TALENT

Determined will now function like Perfect Determined, meaning a kill from a converted headshot will no longer trigger another guaranteed headshot.

The ability to chain body shots as headshots is not going away completely. That functionality is moving to the new Iron Will Exotic Chest through its Resolved Talent. Iron Will lets your next body shot count as a headshot without requiring a headshot kill first, and can be paired with Exotic MMRs or High-End MMRs using Talents other than Determined.

To support it, we are also buffing several MMR-related Gear Sets and Brand bonuses.

This weapon fires Dragon's Breath shells. Each shot has a 40% chance of applying Burn to the enemy.

Weapon Damage is Amplified by 50% of your Status Effect bonus.

Underbarrel: +10% Weapon Handling

Note: Fafnir’s Burn application is still affected by the usual Status Effect diminishing returns on enemies. Because of this, you may sometimes see Burn applied less often than the 40% chance would suggest.

RETALIATION

It's been one year since Retaliation launched, and to mark the occasion, you'll be able to take on a special Project Chain from September 8 to September 22.

The objectives will send you back into Retaliations against different factions. Each completed Project comes with useful materials and caches, with an Outfit Token waiting at the end as the main reward. You can use it to unlock one eligible outfit of your choice from the store.

And there’s more to earn during the first week. From September 8 to September 15, Retaliation Surge will be active, doubling the Retaliation Faction Materials you earn from all sources.

DARK ZONE AND PVP

Red Horizon brings Blackout into the Dark Zone rotation, and Toxic DZ remains as a permanent PvE variant.

Dark Zone variants will rotate weekly across DZ West, East, and South, with one PvE and two PvP Dark Zones available at any given time. Toxic and Balanced will remain active each week, while Blackout and Classic will alternate on a weekly basis.

TOXIC DARK ZONE

The Toxic Dark Zone is here to stay. With the Into the Dark seasonal Modifiers no longer active, we have made a few changes so it can continue as a permanent PvE Dark Zone:

Other factions can now appear in the Toxic DZ, including Black Tusk.
Sample Canisters and Surge have been removed.
Toxicity has been adjusted, and extracting your gear will now clear your Toxicity level.
Normalization remains active to scale players and their gear to level 40. However, PvP-specific overrides for talents, Gear Sets, skills, and weapons are not active, meaning these will use their PvE values against enemies. Prototype Gear will remain normalized, similar to Raids and Incursions.

REWARDS

Landmark chests in the Toxic Dark Zone now have 20% chance to drop a contaminated cache. These caches use the same special loot pool as the PvP Dark Zones, including Exclusive and Raid Gear Sets, legacy DZ-exclusive weapons, Named Items, and Exotic.

BLACKOUT DARK ZONE

(PvEvP / Non-Normalized / Global PvP Balance: Active / SHD & Expertise: Active / Rogue Protocol: Active)

For those of you who have been asking for a fully uncapped Dark Zone, Blackout is exactly that. It completely removes stat normalization, so you can use the full power of your build, including your SHD Watch and Expertise upgrades.

The zone is permanently Invaded, with Black Tusk as the main enemy faction, and you’ll also encounter tougher Veteran, Elite, and Named enemies.

Rogue Protocol remains active, and Global PvP Balance still applies to weapons, gear, and Skills. Prototype Gear and Weapons can also use their full base stats in Blackout. Their Augments, however, will still use the PvP-balanced values.

REWARDS

Blackout loot drops at Heroic quality, matching the other PvP Dark Zones. There is also a 20% chance to receive an additional contaminated item from the special Dark Zone loot pool, including Exclusive and Raid Gear Sets, legacy DZ-exclusive weapons, Named Items, and Exotic.

With Red Horizon, Ortiz: Reficere, Caduceus, and Nurse's Kneepads have also been added to the special loot pool for PvP Dark Zones.

Prototype Gear and Weapons can also drop as contaminated loot from enemies, with stronger enemies offering better chances and higher stat rolls:

Normal Enemies: 0.2% Chance for Prototype Drop - Mid Stat Rolls
Elite Enemies: 0.5% Chance for Prototype Drop - Mid Stat Rolls & 0.2% Chance for Prototype Drop - High Stat Rolls
Boss Enemies: 1% Chance for Prototype Drop - Mid Stat Rolls and 2% Chance for Prototype Drop - High Stat Rolls.

Exotic Component drop rates match the other PvP Dark Zones:

Challenging Landmark Phoenix Crates: 33%
Challenging Landmark Bosses: 40%
Heroic Landmark Phoenix Crates: 40%
Heroic Landmark Bosses: 48%

GLOBAL PVP BALANCE

Our Global PvP Balance work continues in Red Horizon with another round of improvements.

The goal remains to make PvP fights less about taking someone down instantly and give you more time to react and fight back. We also want more Talents, Weapons, Skills, and Set Bonuses to feel worth using, rather than having the same few choices

Skills have received adjustments to both their base values and how they scale across Skill Tiers. These changes apply to Conflict and all PvP Dark Zone variants.

Gear Set and Brand Set bonuses have also been adjusted separately for PvP where needed. New Talents have been balanced for PvP as well, together with adjustments to some existing outliers.

QOL AND UPDATES

PVP STAT DISPLAY

PvP weapon damage values will now be displayed directly in your Inventory alongside their PvE values. Your stats will also automatically switch to their corresponding PvP values when entering a PvP environment.
You can now test PvP Normalization stats and Global PvP Balance overrides directly in the Shooting Range by enabling the PvP settings before heading into Conflict or the Dark Zone.
The Inventory Normalization button will be temporarily unavailable while we make updates to the UI.

BLUEPRINTS AND LOOT

True Patriot and Ongoing Directive materials and blueprints have been added to the General Loot Pool.
The following blueprints have also been added to the General Loot Pool:

- Concentrated Company
- Core Strength
- Ortiz: Reficere
The following blueprints are now available from Inaya*:

Caduceus and Nurse’s Kneepads have also been added to Targeted Loot.

Gear, Weapons, Talents

Fixed an issue with the Tinkerer Mask's "Abridged" Talent working across different weapon types. [TCTD2-1405]
Fixed an issue with the Tech Plate and Nanite Carrier dropping or spawning as Prototypes with incorrect Talents.
Fixed an issue with the Whiplash Exotic Pistol and Underboss Exotic SMG missing their Reconfigure Blueprints. [TCTD2-4729][TCTD2-6102]
Fixed an issue with Prima Donna stacks transferring to the Gear Shift Named LMG. [TCTD2-6056]

Broken Rain Incursion

Fixed an issue where one of the Beaver collectibles could appear floating in the air. The Beaver has been moved to a nearby location.
Fixed an issue with the mission objective not updating after defeating the Chainsaw boss in Broken Rain while wearing the Dilemma Gear Set and Turmoil Kneepads.

UI

Fixed an issue with menus becoming inaccessible after being forced out of the Deconstruct Confirmation pop-up.
Fixed an issue on PlayStation with confirming a Commendation also equipping its Arm Patch due to both actions being bound to the X button. [TCTD2-54]
Fixed an issue with the Skins and Dyes submenu in the Apparel section not allowing manual scrolling by dragging the scroll bar with the mouse.
Fixed an issue with the Mega Map displaying an incorrect timer for free Classified Assignments. [TCTD2-6076]

Missions and World

Fixed an issue with fire and its effects remaining active longer than the corresponding visual animation. [TCTD2-166]
Fixed an issue with Mari Singh being missing from East Mall.
Fixed an issue with players being able to clip through an environmental door at the Toxic Alley Control Point. [TCTD2-1585]

Other

Fixed an issue with Into the Dark Season bundles purchased on Steam appearing as not owned in the in-game Store. [TCTD2-4499]
Fixed an issue that could cause players on Steam Deck to be kicked by EAC. Easy Anti-Cheat should now work correctly on Steam Deck.
Fixed an issue with Kitsune Event Caches preventing players from opening Gear Caches.

CLASSIFIED ASSIGNMENTS

Two new Classified Assignments will be available during Red Horizon: The District Mall Inferno on August 27 and The Georgetown Dead Zone on October 15.

The first sends you to the District Mall after Agent Felix McNally is attacked while trying to recover broad-spectrum antivirals, with the Cleaners closing in and an unknown assailant linked to a SHD anomaly still unaccounted for. The second takes you into an area of Georgetown completely uncovered by the SHD network, where a JTF engineer team sent to install new tech has gone missing.

Classified Assignments can be accessed through the dedicated Assignments tab on the map once they become available. Access unlocks at Level 30, and Assignments can be purchased and launched from there.

SEASON PASS

The optional Season Pass is available to all The Division® 2 players starting at Level 1 for 1000 Premium Credits ($9.99 or your regional equivalent) in the in-game Store. While the Season Pass is accessible from Level 1, some of the rewards will be usable only when you reach Level 40.

NEW BROKEN RAIN INCURSION

Hurricane Morgan is closing in on rural Pennsylvania, where the Rikers have seized the Steel Creek Dam and Hydroelectric Power Plant, one of the last functioning power stations on the East Coast.

With the reservoir rising and the facility at risk, Agents must breach the Rikers’ fortifications, take down the four leaders controlling the stronghold, and secure the dam before the storm causes catastrophic damage.

Two special Arm Patches will be available to mark the launch of Broken Rain:

Complete the Incursion within the first 24 hours to receive both the Golden Beaver Arm Patch and the Silver Beaver Arm Patch.
Complete it within the first 7 days to receive the Silver Beaver Arm Patch.

To allow time for everyone to log in after maintenance on August 11, the reward window will begin one hour after the servers come back online. We will confirm the exact start and end times on @TheDivisionGame.

Prototype Gear can be used in Broken Rain, but its stats will be fully normalized. This means Prototype Augments will be disabled, and Prototype stats will be reduced to their minimum values. The same system is already used in Paradise Lost, Operation Iron Horse, and Operation Dark Hours. Keep this in mind when preparing your build for the Incursion.

One of the standout rewards in Broken Rain is Steel & Sons ACR, an Exotic Rifle exclusive to the Incursion.

Destroying an enemy's weakpoint causes them to take +10% Amplified Damage from you for 5s.

PvP Version:

This weapon deals +3% Amplified Damage per stack.

There are two ways to earn Steel & Sons ACR: a chance from the final reward chest after a full completion, or from bosses during repeat runs.

Final Reward chest:

Each of your characters is eligible for one roll from the chest per week.
Eligibility resets with the global weekly reset.
Completion time and individual performance do not affect the drop chance.

Additional clears:

You must be present when the boss is defeated to be eligible for the drop.
You can repeat the Incursion as many times as you like throughout the week.
The drop chance remains the same with each attempt.

BROKEN RAIN EVENT PASS

The Broken Rain Event Pass will be available from August 11 to August 25, with new JTF-themed outfits.

OUTFIT TOKENS

The premium track also introduces Outfit Tokens, a new currency that can be used to unlock selected outfits from the Store.

One Outfit Token unlocks the full outfit, even if you already own some of its individual pieces. Look for the Outfit Token icon to see which outfits are eligible. If an outfit can be unlocked with more than one currency, you can choose between an Outfit Token, Premium Credits, or Textiles.

INTO THE DARK STRETCH GOALS

The Into the Dark Stretch Goals track opens on August 18 and will remain available until the end of the season.

Once you reach Tier 100 of the Season Pass, you can continue progressing through the Stretch Goals track and earning additional rewards.

The track includes Standard and Prestige Caches. Prestige Caches appear at Tier 10 and are earned through the same progression, but guarantee some rewards that only have a chance to drop from Standard Caches and increase the chances of additional bonus drops.

PVP UPDATES

Y8S2.3 continues our work on PvP with changes to Dark Zone loot, another round of balancing, and new Shooting Range options to help you test your builds before heading into PvP.

DARK ZONE LOOT

Loot across the Toxic, Classic, and Balanced Dark Zones will now drop at Heroic quality.

In Classic and Balanced Dark Zones, Elites and bosses will also have a 25% chance to drop an additional item from a special contaminated loot pool. As with other contaminated loot, the item must be successfully extracted before it can be used.

When an additional item drops, its category will be selected according to the chances listed below. Each item withing a category has an equal chance to drop.

GLOBAL PVP BALANCE: PHASE II

The second phase of our PvP balancing focuses on Gear and Brand Set bonuses, Prototype Augments, and several individual talents.

Gear and Brand Set bonuses have been adjusted to give you more room to experiment with different builds, while bringing some of the strongest and weakest options closer together.

Prototype Augments have also received their own PvP values, in preparation for upcoming PvP content where Prototype Gear will be available. These changes reduce some of the more extreme damage and survivability combinations without affecting how the Augments perform in PvE.

Several talents have been adjusted as well, particularly where their performance created unusually large advantages in PvP.

SHOOTING RANGE PVP SIMULATION

You can now test how your build will perform under PvP rules without leaving the Shooting Range.

Two new control panels let you switch Normalization and Global PvP Balance on or off. Your stats will update automatically depending on the settings you choose.

Normalization applies the rules used in normalized PvP, including SHD Levels, Expertise, and Prototype Gear normalization.
Global PvP Balance applies the PvP values used for gear, talents, and Prototype Augments.

With Normalization enabled, the damage shown against targets will reflect your damage against another player. Turn it off to return to your regular damage against NPCs.

FIXES

Fixed an issue where audio sounds (gunshots, explosions, various FXs) could no longer be heard after extended play sessions. [TCTD2-2074]
Fixed an issue with Classified Assignment displaying previously unlocked Collectibles as available rewards for other Agents. [TCTD2-148]
Fixed and issue with Agent Kelso following the Agent in the Grand Washington Hotel mission without opening the door leading to Eleanor Swayer. [TCTD2-1913]
Fixed an issue with an enemy appearing in an unreachable area in Potomac Event Center mission. [TCTD2-5314]
Fixed an issue with Global Directives changing the displayed XP rewards for Raids and Incursions, despite not applying to these activities. [TCTD2-176]
Fixed an issue where entering Descent automatically claimed Event Pass rewards, preventing them from appearing in the player’s inventory.
Fixed an issue with the Breathless Pants clipping through vanity jackets.

DUST STORM EVENT

Summer is in full swing, and it’s time to experience New York as you have never seen it before.

From July 21 to August 11, defeat powerful enemies, collect exclusive loot and navigate hazardous weather conditions in the Dust Storm Event. All players who log in to the game during the event period will be granted the Parched Mask as a free reward.

As part of the celebrations, access to the Warlords of New York expansion will be free for all players for the duration of the event.

Event participation will require a character level of 40 and completion of the Warlords of New York campaign.

DUST STORMS

New York is experiencing turbulent dust storms, obscuring target visibility and ramping up the tension, heightening the risk of hidden enemies. There are two variations of the storm effects:

Calm Dust Storm

The default weather system upon loading into the New York map, obscuring sightlines and keeping you on your toes. The Calm Dust Storm will last up to 18 minutes before intensifying. Note that this timer will restart upon each login.

Raging Dust Storm

The Raging Dust Storm kicks things up a notch, further limiting visibility and buffeting agents with intense wind noise to disorientate you for a tense 8-minute window. This provides the perfect cover for constant ambushes from squads of enemy Dust Devils.

After the Raging Dust Storm has passed, the weather may return to either a Calm Storm state, or a brief respite of clear, sunny weather to allow you to get your bearings and prepare for the next fight.

DUST DEVILS

Dust Devils are group of Rikers that saw the perfect opportunity to seize on the chaos of the storm and use it for their own gains.

Dust Devil Kill Squads spawn on a 6-minute timer in groups of 4 named enemies, that will actively hunt you down. The Dust Devils are using the storm to their advantage with multiple modifiers, so be sure to close the gap:

Status Resistance Modifier

0% Status Resistance if Agents are between 0-25 meters

80% Status Resistance if Agents are further than 26 meters

Decrease Damage Dealt

Reduces damage by 20% to Agents between 5-25 meters

Reduces damage by 50% to Agents further than 26 meters

Increase Damage Taken

Takes 50% more damage from Agents between 0-10 meters

Takes 20% more damage from Agents between 11-25 meters

Plan your attack carefully and make use of positioning to maximize the effectiveness of your close-range tools.

During the Raging Dust Storm enemies spawn continuously on a short cooldown until the Raging Dust Storm subsides. Up to 6 enemies can be active at any one time- kill them fast enough and you can defeat up to 48 enemies in a single Raging Dust Storm.

Make sure to keep moving, as spawns will not trigger if you are stationary.

BACKUP ARRIVES

Cause enough trouble for the Dust Devils, and they’ll call in the big guns. Once you defeat enough enemies and near the threshold of 50 kills for a boss spawn, you will receive a prompt to Call for Backup. Make your preparations, as the event bosses are on their way:

Pall hides in the storm as a sniper using Sniper Turret and Decoy tech, while being invisible to Pulse scanning.

Black Lung acts as a tank, using an LMG to lay down heavy fire and is supported by an Artillery Turret.

Both bosses will spawn simultaneously, for groups and solo players. Pall and Black Lung can spawn in any weather condition, so long as the Dust Devils Named Enemies kill threshold of 50 Named Enemies is reached.

Upon being defeated, each boss will drop a Storm Key, as well as a unique mask on first defeat.

EXPLORATION

It isn’t just the weather that has seen a change; the storm has brought new environmental decorations, and some intriguing caches.

Throughout the New York map you will encounter 20 hidden caches of loot, split amongst the decorated areas- destroy them to be rewarded with the same gear found within the Event Vendor Gear Caches. The Dust Devils will repair these caches, allowing them to be interacted with again after each daily reset.

Keep your ears open- the limited visibility in the storm can make visual identification tricky, so be sure to pay attention for the distinct audio cue played by the caches.

The Dust Devils aren’t ones to forgive your interfering with their loot, however: interacting with a cache prompts a group of Named Enemies to prepare to ambush you.

THE SCOURED HUNTER

Rumors have reached SHD that the dust storms hide an even greater threat, attacking sporadically once a Raging Dust Storm has subsided, preying on weakened Agents. Reports say that they can be identified by their distinctive mask, and are in possession of Storm Keys.

EVENT VENDOR AND CACHES

After amassing your stock of keys, it’s time to head to the Haven settlement. Residents of Haven have updated their decor to combat the dusty conditions, and the Event Vendor has been given a refresh.

The Event Vendor will be your main hub for redeeming keys.

You can get Storm Keys by:

Defeating Dust Devil Kill Squads

Defeating Dust Devil Bosses

Defeating The Scoured Hunter.

Keys are guaranteed scaling with difficulty:

Normal: 14 Kills

Hard: 14 Kills

Challenging: 12 Kills

Heroic: 10 Kills

In addition to this is the Daily Boost: every day, the first 150 kills will have the requirement for a key reduced by half. The Daily Boost resets 24 hours after the first event enemy squad you kill.

Apparel Caches contain only vanity items, with no duplicates, so every key spent gets you closer to completing the full collection:

Vagabond Outfit (glasses, shirt, pants, boots)

Parched Outfit (headgear, shirt, gloves, pants, shoes)

Breathless Outfit (headgear, shirt, gloves, pants, boots)

There are 43 items in total, and collecting the full set will reward you with the new Black Blizzard Scanner Pulse Skill VFX. Apparel Keys can also be purchased with Premium Credits.

GEAR CACHES

Gear Caches bring a mix of returning and event-specific loot, including Named items, Exotics, and a rare chance to obtain Prototype gear.

REALISM MODE COMEBACK

Realism Mode returns, running for the duration of the Dust Storm Event.

For those that missed it the first time around, Realism Mode is a limited time experience that lets you enter New York and see what it means to operate as a Division Agent in a more grounded and unforgiving way, where every decision matters.

It’s a separate character journey that takes place throughout the Warlords of New York campaign. Warlords of New York is accessible to everybody throughout the Dust Storm Event, giving everyone the chance to step into Realism Mode during the celebration.

At its core, it’s about immersion and tension. Fights are faster and more lethal for both agents and enemies. Mistakes carry weight, but victories feel even more satisfying.

You’ll notice the interface has been reduced, placing more emphasis on reading the world around you. Ammo is recovered directly from defeated enemies, and while skills remain powerful, their longer cooldowns and added risk make them tools best saved for critical moments.

Gear and weapon bonuses reflect the physical nature of what you wear, with heavier pieces providing increased protection at the cost of mobility, while lighter gear favors speed and flexibility at the cost of survivability.

This refresh brings new rewards, too: players who complete the Liberty Island mission will be rewarded with the Salt Flat MK46 LMG Skin, while those that are brave enough to complete it with a Hardcore Character will also be awarded the Kill Count skin, also for the MK46.

Alongside this, the earlier Realism Mode rewards return too: Arid Forest Camo for the KSG Shotgun and the Concrete Camo for the Police M4 should you complete it with a Hardcore Character.

Previous Realism Mode characters have been removed, with all players starting the experience from the beginning.

CREATOR COLLABORATION: NGN, CHARLES AND FILIPERAAAMOS

We’re also launching a new Creator Collaboration with NGN, Charles, and FilipeRaaamos, with their own activities and rewards from July 21 until August 11.

HOW IT WORKS

Each creator introduces their own Project Chain, taking you across different areas of New York, and asking you to complete activities in specific Named Zones.

New steps unlock daily, with each project building on the last. You can progress at your own pace, once a project becomes available, it remains accessible until the event ends.

You can focus on a single creator or work through all three, depending on how you want to approach it.

PARADISE LOST UPDATE

The Paradise Lost Incursion is getting a refresh on July 21, with a new Exotic Weapon. The Incursion will also now allow the Ambush and Assault Global Events to be active in the Incursion. This is with the aim of allowing those that have yet to engage with Incursions to have a helping hand when tackling the content for the first time and give them a fighting chance in securing the new Exotic weapon.

RAGE HARVEST GLOBAL EVENT
The hunt does not end with the Event Pass. From June 30 through July 7, Rage Harvest puts you against enemies that grow stronger as they build Overheal. Every Star earned during the event will also contribute 50 XP toward the Dead by Daylight Event Pass.
With the Global Event active, all enemies enter the fight with Overheal, giving them additional protection and increased damage. When they hit you, they restore any missing health and armor before building even more protection. The more they accumulate, the tougher they become and the more damage they deal.
But the strength they steal can become yours. As you damage enemy Overheal, you gain Rage and receive bonuses to your Weapon Damage, RPM, Weapon Handling, Critical Hit Chance and Critical Hit Damage.
Rage thrives on pressure. Stay on the offensive to keep building power, but slow down for too long and it will start to fade.
GUARDIAN ANGEL
The longer you stay on the offensive, the more likely you are to take a hit. Guardian Angel is there when your armor finally gives way.
When your armor is fully depleted, Guardian Angel activates automatically, briefly making you immune to damage and Status Effects, clearing any already affecting you, and increasing your movement speed.
Once triggered, the effect needs time to recharge, so it will not be available every time your armor breaks.
RAGE HARVEST MILESTONE REWARDS
Keep harvesting Rage, and the rewards will follow. The 10-tier track includes Named Item Caches, an Exotic Cache, and the Rage Harvest Mask.
Rewards can be claimed throughout the event. Any rewards left unclaimed will be delivered to your mailbox.

Shepherd XP Boost
Runs June 30 – July 7
Earn three times the usual Shepherd XP when answering calls for backup, helping you gain endorsements and increase your Shepherd level faster.

The Division 2: Into The Dark

After the events of last season, the pressure from Black Tusk has eased around D.C., giving the Division a chance to turn its attention back to threats closer to home. The Hyenas have taken advantage of that opening. Reports indicate they have developed a new Potent Spice formula

After the events of last season, the pressure from Black Tusk has eased around D.C., giving the Division a chance to turn its attention back to threats closer to home.

The Hyenas have taken advantage of that opening.

Reports indicate they have developed a new Potent Spice formula, one that makes their fighters more resistant to pain and harder to bring down. The source appears to be a chemical compound recovered from the Dark Zone, now being stored and moved through new Hyena outposts inside the area.

That same compound could be used by the Division for something very different: medical support for civilians and Agents still holding the city together.

Your objective is to enter the Toxic Dark Zone, disrupt the Hyenas’ operation, and recover Sample Cannisters before they can be turned into something far more dangerous.

PVP ENVIRONMENT IMPROVEMENTS

Into the Dark includes the first step in a broader update to the PvP experience, with changes applying across Conflict and all Dark Zone variants.

For this first phase, the focus is on Weapon and Gear Talents. The goal is to reduce the gap between overperforming and underused options, create more room for different builds, and improve the overall PvP balance.

This is part of a longer process. Future PvP updates are planned to look at Skills, Attributes, Status Effects, and other areas that affect the competitive experience.

GENERAL DARK ZONE UPDATES

Entrance turrets have been adjusted to better prevent door camping by dealing additional direct Health Damage to hostile Agents within range.
Agents now receive a brief invulnerability window when entering the Dark Zone, giving them time to load in and assess their surroundings. This protection ends early if the Agent moves or fires their weapon.
Across all Dark Zones, Landmark activities have become more rewarding. Landmark Chests now refresh more quickly, and Dark Zone Keys have a higher chance to drop from Landmark Bosses and Named enemies.

EXOTIC COMPONENT DROP RATES

Exotic Component drop chances from Landmark Chests have been increased:
- PvP Dark Zones: 40%
- Toxic Dark Zone (PvE): 25%
In the Balanced and Classic Dark Zones, Landmark Bosses now also have a higher chance to drop Exotic Components:
- Challenging Landmarks: 33%
- Heroic Landmarks: 48%

This variant plays closest to the current Dark Zone experience. Rogue Protocol remains active, Invasions continue to function as they do today, and Agents keep the benefits of their SHD Watch and Expertise progression.

TOXIC DARK ZONE

(PvE / Normalized / Global PvP Balance: Active / SHD & Expertise: Active / Rogue Protocol: Disabled / Season / Toxicity)

The Toxic Dark Zone is a variant specific to this season, directly connected to the Cleaning up the Streets Global Modifier.

This version of the Dark Zone is a shared space for up to 12 Agents, designed for those who want to experience the area without the same PvP pressure. Rogue Protocol is disabled, Agent damage is turned off, and you can group up with up to 3 other Agents through the standard party system.

Toxicity covers the entire zone and builds over time, applying hazardous effects the longer you stay inside. To reduce it, you’ll need to activate Surged Active Modifiers, and leaving the Dark Zone completely clears it. Checkpoints and Safe Houses pause the buildup and freeze your current Toxicity value.

Global PvP Balance also applies in the Toxic Dark Zone, allowing builds to follow the same PvP ruleset used in other Dark Zone variants. This should make moving between PvE and PvP variants feel less abrupt, without requiring a full build rethink.

Sample Cannisters can be found in the Toxic Dark Zone as contaminated items, meaning they must be extracted before they can be claimed. Calling the Extraction Helicopter requires a Stabilization Agent, which has a chance to drop from Landmark Chests and Landmark Bosses.

Hunters in the Toxic Dark Zone now guarantee 1 Exotic Component when defeated and have a dedicated 2% chance to drop Eagle Bearer or Ravenous.

BALANCED DARK ZONE

(PvPvE / Normalized / Global PvP Balance: Active / SHD & Expertise: Disabled / Rogue Protocol: Active)

The Balanced Dark Zone is for those looking for a more competitive PvEvP experience, with high-level normalization based on the Conflict ruleset.

SHD Watch and Expertise bonuses are disabled, making the experience less dependent on long-term progression. Rogue Protocol remains active, contaminated loot is still at stake, and extractions can still turn into a fight.

To make this variant more rewarding, deconstructing contaminated items inside the Balanced Dark Zone grants double DZ Currency.

DARK ZONE VENDORS OVERHAUL

Dark Zone vendors have been updated with new cache options focused on progression, crafting, and build improvement. Vendor costs have also been adjusted across all Dark Zone entry points.

Each vendor now offers different cache options:

DZ East: Recalibration Cache (40 DZC) and Optimization Caches (60 DZC).

DZ West: Exotic Component Cache (120 DZC / 4 Items) and Reconstructed Cache (180 DZC).

DZ South: Prototype Core Caches (125 DZC) and Prototype Caches (260 DZC / Higher Chance for Better or Perfect Stats).

GLOBAL MODIFIER: CLEANING UP THE STREETS

The Hyenas have pushed their Potent Spice experiments further, using the Toxic Dark Zone to store and move the chemical compounds needed to produce it.

Your task is to recover Sample Cannisters from Hyena activity and stop those materials from feeding back into their operation.

Once secured, Sample Cannisters can be used in two main ways:

Contribute Sample Cannisters at the seasonal vendor to increase the Sample Size bar and unlock stronger High Quality Munitions bonuses.
Active Modifiers can automatically consume Sample Cannisters on activation to trigger a more powerful Surge version of their effects.

SEASONAL VENDOR AND HIGH-QUALITY MUNITIONS

The seasonal vendor is located in the Base of Operations, next to the Specialization table.

At the vendor, you can contribute Sample Cannisters to increase the Sample Size bar. As the bar progresses, it unlocks additional High-Quality Munitions bonuses for the season.

High-Quality Munitions is a temporary buff granted after contributing Sample Cannisters. While the buff is active, you benefit from all bonuses currently unlocked through the Sample Size bar. Each reload consumes one stack, and the buff ends once all stacks are depleted.

ACTIVE MODIFIERS AND SURGE

Active Modifiers return with a new Surge mechanic.

When you activate an Active Modifier and have enough Sample Cannisters in your inventory, they are automatically consumed to trigger a stronger version of that modifier.

Surged Active Modifiers improve the base effect, add extra bonuses, or reduce certain drawbacks depending on the modifier used. Inside the Toxic Dark Zone, activating a Surged Active Modifier also helps reduce Toxicity.

Active Modifiers can also be upgraded, improving effects such as cooldown, duration, or Surge cost.

The three Active Modifiers this season are:

Invincible - focused on healing, armor repair and temporary damage reduction.
Pneuma - focused on weapon swap speed and stacking bonuses based on weapon types.
Vicarious - focused on skill efficiency, skill damage, and supporting your allies with repairs and healing.

PASSIVE MODIFIERS

There are 9 Passive Modifiers, split into three categories: Gadgets, Resistances, and Offensive.

They can help you reduce Surge costs, improve your resistance to Toxicity and Status Effects while inside the Toxic Dark Zone, increase how many High-Quality Munitions you can carry, and give you new ways to debuff enemies.

HOSTILE COUNTERMEASURES

These modifiers can make enemies harder to ignore and more dangerous if left alive. Inside the Toxic Dark Zone, they can also interact with Toxicity, making certain enemies a bigger threat the longer you stay exposed.

Folie à Deux - When the enemy first takes or deals damage, a timer starts and their damage increases over time. If the enemy dies after that timer ends, the modifier can transfer to another nearby enemy.
- In the Toxic Dark Zone, it can also increase Toxicity for nearby agents.
Plague Doctor - Grants health regeneration to nearby enemies from the same faction.
- In the PvE Dark Zone, agents within its radius gain Toxicity over time.
Soporific - Can apply Lethargy debuff when damaging an agent. While affected by this debuff, incoming damage has a chance to inflict Disorient Status Effect. Killing a Soporific enemy removes the debuff regardless of its remaining duration.
- In the PvE Dark Zone, Toxicity increases whenever Soporific triggers Disorient.

Successfully completing the Climax Mission on Master difficulty for the first time guarantees the Exotic SMG “Underboss” as a special reward. It can also drop at any difficulty, though with lower chances. The higher the difficulty, the better your odds.

Shooting an enemy with this weapon applies a mark. You can only apply one mark at a time. Shooting another enemy will transfer the mark.

This weapon deals +20% Amplified Damage to marked enemies. The bonus is increased by 5% for each extra mark on the enemy other than your own.

ESCALATION

Escalation Completion rewards now grant +1 Exotic Component for each Escalation Tier, starting at Tier 5.
Prototype targeted loot drops have been added back to Escalation chests.
Tier 0 rewards now 1 token per player.
Several Escalation mutators have been updated.

Current Escalation mutators include:

Harvester - Regenerates Armor and Health when dealing damage. Can be disabled by damaging the enemy with a grenade or applying any Status Effect.
Suppressor - Charges an EMP blast when damaged, then releases it once fully charged.
Aid Specialist - Repairs the armor of nearby allies when they are heavily damaged.
Hot Foot - Standing still builds up a charge. Once full, you are shocked and take damage.
Unyielding - Cleanses Status Effects once when the enemy reaches a set Armor or Health threshold.
Variety Pack - Repeated kills with the same weapon reduce that weapon’s damage until you switch weapons.

PROTOTYPE GEAR

Augment upgrade costs have been adjusted to be cheaper on initial levels and more expensive on later ones. Maxing out one item cost remains as 31 Prototype cores.
Augment reroll cost has been reduced and now caps at 6 Prototype Cores, starting from the 3rd reroll.

RETALIATION

Hyena Kill Squads can now ambush you during Retaliation. Stay alert.

COSMETIC AND STORE UPDATES

The Purple Flame outfit now changes color when paired with the Phoenix Hunter Mask, shifting from purple to red for a new look. The Purple Flame outfit will be available in the store until June 23.
The art team has also added new tech that allows compatible masks to be worn under a veil, giving you more ways to customize your outfit.

Several store improvements have also been made for Textiles:

Textile prices are now shown more clearly across bundles, individual items, Skill VFX, Exotic weapon skins, and other store categories.

Textile currency is now visible in bundle views when items can be purchased with Textiles.

Some bundles can now be purchased with either Premium Credits or Textiles.

Bundle prices now better reflect items you already own, with adjusted prices shown before purchase.

Textile-only items and Textile-only bundles are now supported.

CLASSIFIED ASSIGNMENTS

Two new Classified Assignments will be available during Into the Dark: Conspiracy Zone Hideout on June 16 and McMillan Reservoir Assault on July 21.

The first assignment follows an unknown piece of Division tech repeatedly pinging the SHD network from the Conspiracy Zone entertainment complex. The second begins with an urgent request for backup after a fellow Division Agent is injured and trapped while investigating an SHD network anomaly at the McMillan Reservoir.

Classified Assignments offer a more contained experience, with a stronger focus on exploration and storytelling. If you enjoy digging into locations and uncovering what happened there, these are worth checking out. You can search for collectibles, including echoes and audio logs, and earn additional rewards such as themed backpack trophies and named item drops.

Classified Assignments can be accessed through the dedicated Assignments tab on the map once they become available. Access unlocks at Level 30, and assignments can be purchased and launched from there.

SEASON PASS

The optional Season Pass is available for all The Division® 2 players starting at Level 1, priced at 1000 Premium Credits ($9.99 or your regional equivalent) in the in-game store and it’s available to everyone. While the Season Pass is accessible from Level 1, some of the rewards will be usable only when you reach Level 40.

Additionally, players can opt for the Premium+ option, available for $29.99 or your regional equivalent, which bundles the Premium Season Pass with multiple rewards, offering even greater value.

Once you reach Tier 100 of the Season Pass, this extension track becomes accessible, giving you the opportunity to continue earning additional rewards. As always, everything in Rise Up Stretch Goals is available on the free track, so no Premium Battle Pass purchase is needed to take part.

This extension features two cache types, the Rise Up Cache and the Prestige Rise Up Cache. The Prestige version is earned in the same way as the standard cache and appears as the Tier 10 reward on the track, but it offers stronger guaranteed rewards and improved chances for bonus drops.

ESCALATION

Escalation Tokens will no longer reset at the end of the season.
While our original plan was for Escalation Tokens to reset with each new season, we have since moved away from this decision. Any Escalation Tokens you have earned will remain available after the season ends, so you can continue using them in future updates.
Gear Mod and Skill Mod Targeted Loot in Escalation will now provide drops.
Drops will use Heroic-level roll chances from Tier 0 to Tier 4, and Legendary-level roll chances from Tier 5 onwards.

OTHER

Improved the Matchmaking Station menu in the Base of Operations and Safe Houses to make the Retaliation matchmaking option easier to find. [[u]TCTD2-375]
Field Proficiency Caches can now be opened without the hold animation.

FIXES

Fixed the issue where ECHOs collected before Y8S1.2 did not count toward the “Library of Congress” Classified Assignment collection progress. [[u]TCTD2-3225]
Fixed the issue where overly bright lighting could appear in The Summit on PlayStation 5.

Fixed the issue where the same hold input could be assigned to both “Escalate Mission” and “Open Global Events,” causing a double input conflict on keyboard and controller.
Fixed an issue where the “Busy Little Bee” Talent could grant a higher damage bonus than intended.
Fixed the issue where the Big Alejandro Blueprint could not be obtained from the NY Kill Squad Cache.
Fixed the issue where aiming down sights with the Agitator Exotic Weapon could incorrectly force a scoped-in view. [[u]TCTD2-3201]
Fixed the issue where Master difficulty could fail to appear when switching between Manhunt Climax Missions located in the same area. [[u]TCTD2-119]

KNOWN ISSUES

Enemy NPCs affected by regular fire from exploding canisters, weapons, or skills may not display the purple flame VFX or Corrosion debuff icon, even when Corrosion is active.

Brooklyn Celebration Event Pass
The Brooklyn Celebration Event Pass will be available from May 21 through June 4.
All Agents can earn free rewards, with the option to unlock additional premium rewards for 100 VC. Progress is tied to regular play. Earn Season XP to move through the Event Pass and use Global Event Stars to speed things up.
The reward lineup features outfits inspired by familiar faces and factions tied to New York and Brooklyn.

Corrosive Shell Global Event
Available from May 26 through June 4, Corrosive Shell is a new Global Event built around Status Effects, explosive reactions, and maintaining momentum.
During the event, hostile factions are protected by a volatile chemical plating known as a Corrosive Shell. Enemies protected by the shell will glow with a purple aura and deflect most regular bullet damage, making them much harder to take down through direct fire alone.
To break the shell, hit enemies with Status Effects. Bleed, Burn, Blind, Ensnare, and other Status Effects can all do the trick. Environmental hazards count too, so a nearby fire canister can be just as useful as your own skills, grenades, or gear setup.
HOW CORROSIVE SHELL WORKS
Breaking a Corrosive Shell triggers a corrosive blast around the enemy.
This blast applies the Corrosion debuff to everyone caught in its radius, including you. For Agents, Corrosion temporarily lowers max armor until you leave combat. Enemies that survive are set on fire for 6 seconds, and this is your chance to finish them off.
Defeating a corroded enemy during this window grants Corrosive Momentum, a powerful buff that gives you:
+50% Weapon Damage
+25% RPM
+25% Status Effect
+50% Reload Speed
Corrosive Momentum lasts for 20 seconds, and defeating another corroded enemy refreshes the buff.
To gain Corrosive Momentum, you need to deliver the finishing blow yourself while the enemy is corroded. If the enemy dies from fire damage, another source, or another player’s kill, you will not receive the buff.
If a shielded enemy survives, their Corrosive Shell will regenerate 15 seconds after the initial shell meltdown. This timer includes the time they spend on fire.
In co-op, groups can combine Status Effect builds and work together to keep the Corrosive Momentum active.
CHALLENGES AND REWARDS
Corrosive Shell includes a set of optional Global Event challenges.
Six challenges unlock each day for the first four days. Once unlocked, they remain available until the event ends, so by day four all challenge sets will be active at the same time.
You do not need to manually activate or claim them. They progress automatically as you play.
These objectives are optional, but they are a good way to earn additional Global Event Stars. Stars earned from both Ambush and Corrosive Shell can be used at the Seasonal Vendor, progress the Global Event reward track, and contribute to the Brooklyn Celebration Event Pass.
Make it through the Corrosive Shell chaos, and there is a new reward waiting at the end – the Corroded Mask, earned by completing the event track.
One More Thing...
While you enjoy the celebration, remember that Brooklyn may not be as quiet as it seems.
Starting May 26, new activity has been detected beneath the city. Agents returning to the area may come face to face with the Phoenix Hunter.

This update brings a new vendor to the game: the Escalation Requisition Vendor. Here, you can exchange Escalation Tokens for Prototype Gear rewards. You can find it in the Base of Operations, next to the Escalation panel.
The Escalation Requisition Vendor offers three different types of caches:
Prototype Random Cache
This cache is always available for sale.
Opening this cache rewards one Prototype item of any type.
Prototype Gear Cache
This cache is part of a daily rotation.
Every day, it features a different equipment type in Prototype quality.
Opening this cache rewards one Prototype item of that specific type.
Items obtained from this cache have a higher chance of getting better rolls.
Prototype Weapon Cache
This cache is also part of a daily rotation.
Every day, it features a different weapon type in Prototype quality.
Opening this cache rewards one Prototype weapon of that specific type.
Items obtained from this cache have a higher chance of getting better rolls.
Note: There is no limit for how many caches you can buy from the Escalation Requisition Vendor, and this feature is available to Level 40 Agents.
CLASSIFIED ASSIGNMENTS
Starting May 12, a new Classified Assignment, The Capitol Anomaly, will become available.
ISAC has flagged another SHD network anomaly connected to lost Agents, leading you to the headquarters of The Capitol Globe, one of Washington D.C.’s former major newspapers.
If you enjoy digging into spaces, following clues, and discovering things you might normally miss during regular missions, The Capitol Anomaly is worth checking out.
Keep an eye out for collectibles such as ECHOs and audio logs, plus additional rewards including themed backpack trophies and named item drops.
Once available, The Capitol Anomaly will appear on the map for players who have reached Level 30. Access can be unlocked directly from there, and owners of the Season Pass Bundle will already have it included.
