Based on your feedback, we’ve taken a close look at the Rio Campaign - specifically Match 2 in the campaign (Copa Da Festa) - and made significant adjustments to make the main progression smoother while keeping the challenge alive for completionists. We’ve also ironed out some annoying controller and UI bugs.

Here is everything coming in Patch 1.0.9:

Rio Campaign Balance (Match 2: Copa Da Festa)

Rebalanced Objectives: Main quest lines are now smoother and easier to complete, while side quests have been tweaked to offer a stiffer challenge.
Resource & Card Tweaks: Adjusted starting resources and rebalanced card effects gained during this scenario to give you a fairer start.
New Module - Specialist Training Center: You can now build this module to regain Specialists and keep your operations running!
Quest Overhaul: Changed various quest objectives, rewards, and completion conditions across the board.

Crowd Flow Improvements

Rio Crowd Routes: We’ve shortened fan marching routes and adjusted crowd barriers. Your fans will now move through the city faster, making crowd flows much easier to track and manage.

Bug Fixes

Controller Double Input: Fixed an issue where single button presses registered twice, causing menus to skip options or close unintentionally.
Stadium Mascot Bug: Fixed a glitch where placing the Team Mascot in certain stand sockets would consume your resources without actually placing the module.
Berlin Cable Cars: Fixed pathing and visual issues with the cable cars in Westend.
UI Polish: The Berlin city logo on the main menu's stadium select screen now displays in full, glorious quality to match the other cities.

We’ve completely reworked how Quests, Cards, and Economy interact in Campaign to make gameplay smoother, fairer, and more rewarding. The following changes apply to the first Campaign scenario (PGE Narodowy - Warsaw) - work on balancing the remaining parts of the campaign is still ongoing, and we will keep you informed as soon as they are available.

Core Rebalancing Philosophy:

Main quests are now tuned to be gentler. Simply completing the main questline will comfortably secure a Tier 1 scenario completion.
Side quests now offer steeper challenges for players aiming to hit higher Tiers, packed with significantly boosted rewards.
Reward cards earned from completing quests are now punchier and noticeably stronger than standard cards received from reaching new MR Tiers.
Active, temporary time-based buffs (~24-hour duration) now carry stronger effects than passive cards, rewarding active tactical play.
Groundwork has been laid to bring Club Traits directly into campaign gameplay, helping teach unique club identities and creating a more cohesive management experience across all modes.

Economy & Module Rebalancing

World Map Marketing: Reduced monetary costs of marketing campaigns across the world map by 25%.
MR1 Modules: Building costs reduced by 20%.
MR2 Modules: Building costs reduced by 20% | Base Revenue increased by 20%.
MR3 Modules: Building costs reduced by 10% | Base Revenue increased by 10%.
MR4 Modules: Base Revenue adjusted down by 20% to curb extreme late-game economy inflation.
Ultrabite Snack Stand: Received an additional dedicated revenue boost!
Pacing & Matchday Readiness (MR)
MR4 Acceleration: Increased MR point generation speed at Tier MR4 by ~40% (lowered threshold from 500 fan-needs to 300 fan-needs).
Match Inspection Quest: Doubled the MR points awarded upon completion.

Quest Adjustments & Fixes

Fixed an issue preventing Play With Purpose 2, 3, and 4 (Ultrabite / Froozle questlines) from triggering properly.
Ultrabite (Play With Purpose 1): Adjusted counters, lowered required Core Fans to 500, and updated objective text to clearly display the required module to build.
Besiktas Ultras Sector Request: Extended the time limit to give managers more breathing room.
Team Arrivals Quest: Clarified unlocking cable cars station objectives to streamline progression.

In this patch, we’ve also focused on squashing reported bugs, sharpening controller inputs during tutorials, fixing stadium visual overlaps, and refining crowd count calculations to keep your matchday running as smoothly as possible.

- Fixed the Warsaw campaign cutscene that failed to start and left the player stuck on a cutscene node.
- Fixed incorrect dialogue appearing after completing the Gunnesaurus vs Junior Eagles quest (option B).
- Added the missing quest name in the decision event for Final Marches (variant B).
- Fixed the missing Rio campaign name on the Scenario Roadmap screen.

It has been one week since the launch of Copa City. As this is our very first game, we want to start by thanking you for your support, engagement, and the invaluable feedback you’ve shared in your reviews - it means the world to us and shows us exactly what we need to improve. We released the game with great ambitions, aiming to bring a fresh perspective to the football gaming genre. However, the initial wave of negative reviews made it clear that the experience didn't satisfy the expectations. We have spent this past week actively updating the game and closely analyzing your feedback to understand exactly where we need to make adjustments.

Plain and simple, we could boil all the negative reviews to these points:

A tedious, mandatory tutorial and early campaign softlocks.
UI transparency and vague task instructions made it hard to understand the mechanics.
Frustrating failure mechanics that cut gameplay short without warning.
Mismatch between expectations and reality of the gameplay.

Looking at these rough edges, we have to admit that we were too optimistic with the initial price tag. The current state of the game just doesn't justify it yet. We love this project, and this is our honest attempt to make things right, lower the barrier of entry, and - most importantly - rebuild your trust. Effective today, we are permanently lowering the base price of Copa City on Steam with changes to other platforms pricing on their way.

However, it’s not all bad. Over the last 7 days, we’ve been listening, rolling out fixes, and watching a dedicated core of players dive deep into the actual systems of Copa City. Seeing you master the matchdays despite the onboarding hurdles shows us that the core game we built is worth fighting for.

Refunds & Restitutions

Steam Players: Valve will be refunding the price difference directly to the Steam Wallets of everyone who already purchased the game at the higher price point.

What’s Next for Copa City?

We are not giving up on this game. We want to continue developing this project, and we deeply appreciate the support we’ve received from those of you who see the potential in what we’re building.

Copa City is our first commercial release and we are honored and humbled that you trusted us and purchased our game. We are currently working on important changes to the game's structure, onboarding and game modes. We want to take the parts you enjoy the most and flesh them out to provide the best football match organization game possible.

Here is our immediate roadmap:

Next Days: Another batch of stability fixes, the launch of our Online Wiki to help you with the game systems, and possibility to start the campaign without completing tutorial.
July: UI overhauls + "Chairman Pass" free content update - our response to the community members who asked for more relaxed and free experience.
August: In-game Codex System, a brand-new tutorial, and further UI polish.

We will continue to roll out bug fixes and general polish updates on a regular basis. To track our progress, check the upcoming Wiki for live status updates on these commitments. Regular updates are also coming directly to Steam News and our social media channels.

A quick note on DLCs:
The promised Fluminense and Panathinaikos DLCs are still in active development. However, we want to make sure the foundation of Copa City is rock solid before expanding. Our priority is fixing the base game first, and we will roll out the DLCs only when the core experience is where it needs to be.

Today's update introduces a series of important fixes and improvements aimed at eliminating bugs and enhancing the overall stability of the game. The patch covers a wide range of game aspects:

Interface localization issues and other strange information that sometimes popped up on the UI.
Audio getting a bit of love, mostly regarding voice-overs and dialogues.
Some of the troublesome quests will now work properly, mostly in the campaign.
Maps and stadiums receiving more polish and bug fixes, mostly related to asset placement and graphical glitches.
Pedestrian logic in several districts in Rio has been fixed, so they will now walk on more natural paths (and not on water).

Having a live, active community means we have the direct player feedback needed to see exactly how the game lives up to the expectations. We are taking this feedback seriously and are immediately focusing our efforts on refining the experience and delivering a better game.

While we are excited to see players diving into the matchday logistics, we recognize that the initial onboarding experience has been bumpy for many of you. A large number of the technical issues and friction points reported were a direct result of players getting stuck or feeling lost without clear direction on what to do next. We are sorry for the frustration this caused, we are working on smoothing out the onboarding and the new update allows you to start a Single Match mode without finishing the tutorial in the Campaign mode.

Our philosophy moving forward is straightforward: we are reading your reports, we are analyzing where the progression blocks occur, and we are getting straight to work to make the gameplay loops clearer and more intuitive.

Today's patch focuses on stabilization, fixing blockers, unlocking requested features, and cleaning up UI elements.

Looking ahead, a few players recently pitched a great idea to us, and we are already working on incorporating an option we codenamed 'Chairman Pass'. We are shaping it into something we think you will really enjoy, giving you more freedom to play exactly how you want. It will be coming in the near future, and we will share more details soon.

New Update - UI Tweaks, Tutorial Polish, and QoL Improvements!

Launching the demo early allowed us to squeeze in some major fixes reported over the weekend just before Steam Next Fest kicks off.

We have just deployed a fresh weekend update focused on smoothing out your gameplay experience, improving the UI, and fixing bugs. Here are the key changes we are introducing today:

• Enhanced Tutorial Highlights: We have added new visual highlights throughout the tutorial to guide you more effectively.

• Stands Management Camera: Added camera acceleration while in the stands management mode in Stadium.

• Stadium Tooltips: We have added and corrected various tooltips around the stadium.

• Default Quality Settings: The game will now automatically boot up in "Medium" quality settings by default instead of "Low".

• Module Rotation Fixed: Rotating modules and using keyboard shortcuts on the grid now work flawlessly without any issues.

• Responsive UI: We have implemented small UI tweaks to make the overall interface much more responsive.

• Accessible Time Controls: Time controls are now conveniently visible directly from the building panel view.

• Additional Hints: We added extra helpful hints to guide you along the way (for example, clicking on the volunteer module during their recruitment process).

• Notification Visuals: The color for tutorial notifications and hints has been changed from red to blue for better readability.

• Grid Visibility: The building grid zone is now fully visible right from the moment you enter Build Mode.

In addition to these core improvements, we've fixed over 70 other bugs, including numerous adjustments.
