By now you’ve probably figured out that the game is about a Hand. The handsome, funny, helpful and (mostly) handy HAND.
But there wouldn’t be much of a game if everything was happy and problem-free, so who would be the hands' natural enemy? Well, the answer is simple, feet of course!
Originally the feet were just ordinary, eye-less feet. But one late night I smacked on some googly eyes as a joke, and it just looked way too funny to be without, I just had to keep the eyes.
I considered adding eyes to the hand too, but it looked really weird, and the hand is mostly facing(handing) away from the camera so it doesn’t have the same impact anyway.
The eyes made the feet look kinda friendly though, I was ok with that but it kept bothering me slightly. But then, much later, the idea popped up, add eyebrows, that should make them look more sinister. Said and done, now the feet have eyebrows.
Something that is easy to miss, and not very visible in the trailers (since I’m just that good at the game! ;) ) is that the Hand gets a new band-aid each time it respawns, it's a fun little detail that still adds a lot to the game I think. Especially when you reach the end of a difficult level with band-aids all over the Hand. :D
And now for something unrelated to body parts, I’m also working on a proper level for the car, the previous level was more a tech demo than a fun level. Here’s a quick gif of that. :)
