It's been a while.
There have been no updates for an entire year since I put aside working on this game, but over this past month I've cooked up a big new update, bringing some much needed features and improvements. This does not mean regular updates are back, but I might continue dropping some sizeable content from time to time.
That being said, there are some big features in this update, so here goes:
The most requested feature is here. Coming hand-in-hand with offline mode, you can now play on your own against bots, even without an internet connection (Just make sure to run the game at least once while online).
The bots are not near-sentient, highly intelligent chess computers. What they do is move and shoot, the only crew they use right now are captains and helmsmen. However, they are not to be underestimated either and whether or not they are a worthy opponent you'll have to find out for yourself.
They are also available in multiplayer, you could even fill your lobby up to the full 10 player limit with them. They make their own loadouts, adhering to the budget and settings set by the host. Recommended gamemode for playing with bots is Domination.
The bots have names chosen at random from a file containing 80 popular Victorian names. You can also modify this file to add your own names. It is located within the game install directory under "PDSG_Data/SavedData/botnames.json". In multiplayer lobbies, the names are picked from the host's file.

Finally you can exchange all those duplicates for 5 wood each! If you think that's not a lot, don't worry, chest prices have also dropped down another 5 wood, making them 15 each. So one match and one salvaged ship or crew are enough to get your hands on a new one.

In the shipyard there is now a checklist you can open up for a quick overview of all the ships and crew you own, as well as all those you have yet to find.

I never intended on adding this, but here it is. The mouse cursor can be moved by joystick and some keybinds exist for comfort.
[Right Stick] - Move cursor
[A] or [Y] - Select with cursor
[Left Stick] - Move game view
[DPAD Up/Down] - Zoom in/out
[B] - End action or end turn
[Start] - Open/Close Menu
Apart from these much-requested features there is a whole bunch of smaller fixes, changes and additions. The full patch notes are listed below.
For the first time, PDSG is getting a discount. And this won't be the last time either, keep a look out for future steam sales or events.

I am very glad to tell you all this project that has been in the works for a while is finally releasing publicly. The next few weeks will be gathering feedback and bug reports to improve the game.
This means bugs or unintended behaviours can occur, in a worst case hindering the game from progressing. In this case please open a thread in the steam community or head to the Discord server. I will do my best to prevent it from happening again in the next update.
Apart from taking a small break (excluding fixing bugs), I will be working on adding more features to the game such as a text chat, better turn end confirmation and also more random island variants.
I hope everything works as planned,
be sure to check the tutorials before playing (or find them in the in-game menu in case you need to look something up).
Have fun!
