We are currently working on another update, which will bring you the long-awaited multiplayer, as well as further improvements, especially in terms of quality of life.
At this point, it is too early to give you an exact date, but we are currently expecting a release later this year. Keep an eye on the Steam News and our official channels so you don't miss any further information!
To set us apart a little from other serums, and also to make it clear that the project is continuing, we have decided to give the game a name that better reflects what Serum is all about: Serum: Toxic Survival.

We’re excited to reveal our latest content update for Serum, this adds more of the road map content we revealed during the early access launch. Patch 6 is quite possibly our biggest update so far, and brings a lot of new player focused enhancements, and brought about some fixes that should iron out those performance issues some players were encountering. Tackling optimisation fixes was a much larger task than we first anticipated since it meant really getting under the hood of he game.
In addition to the new content, and performance tweaks, we’ve also been able to implement lots of other fixes to the game as well, and these addressed areas such as item storage, Inventory, missing localized text, UI and visual elements which should also make a big difference.
In patch 6 we’ve added Steam achievements and there are 23 to obtain in Serum. These achievements include various tasks such as finding the Pilot, defeating the formidable Alpha Wolf, recycling 100 items to gain valuable components, collecting all available files in the archive, and utilizing the Absorber 30 times among many others to obtain.
Based on player feedback you’ll be pleased to know that the Player difficulty level can now be customised giving you the option to adjust the level of challenge you’d prefer. Included in this latest content patch are Combat traps providing you with even more tactical options against the creatures that roam Serums dangerous world.
Lastly, we’ve also added additional language support in addition to the 9 languages the game currently supports,

COMBAT ESSENTIALS GUIDE
The test of a true survivor is their ability to handle threats, in Serum you’re going to come up against many different kinds, all hell bent on your untimely demise. Here’s some combat essentials to keep you safe.
Choose wisely – Use the right type of weapon against certain adversaries, the bow is great at creating distance between you and danger, but a machete blade deals a hefty blow up close.
Upgrade – Utilise serum and components to upgrade your weapons as soon as you can, things like serum enhanced arrows can make a real difference in combat.
Timing – Tentarats spit a toxic substance, so time your attacks carefully before they can muster up another dose to fire at you.
Combine weapons – Use your bow to initiate a first blood strike at distance before using melee weapons to finish the kill up close.
Spear it – The spear has been trusted for centuries, it will also serve you well in Serum as a mid-range weapon to use, especially against Fog wolves.
Use Cover – Cars, barricades and trees can provide essential cover from line-of-sight attackers, use cover to avoid confrontation or as a protective barrier from danger.
Beware of pack animals – Pick your fights carefully, some mutated creatures attack in packs, getting overwhelmed you’re as good as dead.
Tread lightly – Craft Serum blends to enhance abilities that can provide essential boosts, a silent stalking ability to reduce noise for example can be a lifesaver.
Night vision – Create a serum brew that lets you see in the dark, get the advantage in low light situations.
Block and Dodge – Utilise your melee weapons to block and dodge lethal attacks to stay in the fight longer. Look for patterns in the attack to defend against and time your blocks.

We’ve been quite busy these past few weeks since launch and are pleased to announce that patch #5 is now live for Serum. This latest patch brings in fixes for localization on languages, freestanding absorbers for wilderness cleansing and an updated trap system, as well as music and sound effects in boss arenas and other fixes.

New trap system - ghost red/green notifying the possibility of putting a trap in a right place
Toadstool and Blind Frog are now highlighted red when using the Masking skill

Quest page no longer displays future objectives (previously the page listed a whole quest chain instead of only the current part)
Fixed Gate puzzles player snapping on interaction (player body is no longer visible when solving a gate puzzle)
Free-standing absorbers - these absorbers heal and remove wildness only ; they do not remove or add the Timer,

Patch #4 is now live for Serum, this latest patch addressed a number of fixes and improvements including accelerated rotation to improve faster player response on controller, a fix for reappearing notes, recipes and blueprints, optimised non-streaming textures for improved performance. Combat Improvements:
Players can now interrupt attack animations to perform a block with all weapons (visual animation may appear disrupted during this action).
Stamina Adjustments:
Reduced stamina consumption during sprinting.
Quality of Life Updates:
Added a "Store All" button to storage for transferring entire stacks of items.
Weapons can now be rotated in the wheel menu for easier selection.
Reduced the time required to complete gate puzzles.
Added a hotkey for quickly using healing items (middle mouse button).

Today, we wanted to share the content and features still to come for Serum since we know that timely updates, fixes, and implementing community feedback are important to you, the player.
By far, the biggest decision has been to give co-op more time in development and integrate this later than planned within the early access window. While this may be disappointing to many of you, we feel it’s very important we can deliver updates and game content that live up to players' expectations because sacrificing the quality of the game is something we very much want to avoid.
The Serum roadmap below highlights the continued work going into Serum in the weeks and months ahead, leading up to the Version 1.0 release.
Quality of Life Fixes
First and foremost, our focus is to implement a range of quality-of-life improvements for players as one of our first tasks on Serum. This includes bug fixes and additional languages and translations, and we’ll continually look at player feedback to implement these so that the player experience in Serum is optimised.
As our early access journey gets underway next on our list will be achievements as we know that rewarding player interactions and milestones is important. We’ll also be looking to implement a UI revamp to ensure that it’s consistently intuitive for players as they brew, craft and upgrade in the game.
Further down the road, the roadmap also plans on introducing new combat options with combat traps allowing players to expand their arsenal of weapons with passive capability to trap adversaries in the game world.
New Biome
Canyon will be the third biome for players to explore in addition to ground zero (the node), the forest area and the swamp maps that are currently available. Canyon will introduce some new challenging adversaries and a new level boss creature to defeat as part of the game's narrative. This is a dry, arid location that will challenge the player with additional side quests to seek out survivors and reveal much more about the mutagen storyline.
Co-op mode
Co-op mode for up to 4 players gives survivors an opportunity to tackle Serum’s infected denizens as a team with friends. Player resources will be shared, and by working together, players can create their own strategies to maximize their effectiveness in the Serum world.
Of course, early access will see our ongoing work to balance the game, add new features, tweak existing ones, and optimize the overall game. Community feedback is still important, so do talk to us via Discord. We are listening.
