We've pushed a big stability and polish pass to One Lonely Outpost: safer saves, a long list of crash fixes, and dozens of quality-of-life improvements across quests, gameplay, and performance. Here's everything in this update:
Saves
Your save can no longer be corrupted or lost if the game crashes or closes mid-save. Saves are now written safely, and a backup is kept automatically.
Crash Fixes
Fixed a crash when interacting with an Omninac incubator.
Fixed a crash that fired repeatedly once all scheduled mail had been delivered.
Fixed crashes in daily weather generation when a season had no weather deck, or an empty one.
Fixed a crash when starting drone fishing in water with no available fish.
Fixed crashes when powered structures (cookers, fabricators, the omniforge, generators, animal houses) were set up with a missing part.
Fixed an animal spawning into an area that had not finished loading.
Fixed errors when interacting with pet houses.
Progression & Quests
Fixed a softlock where quitting during certain story conversations could permanently stall a quest after reloading, including the questline that unlocks the mine. Quests now remember that a conversation finished.
Fixed input freezing after a cutscene ended unexpectedly, which could leave you unable to reach the end-of-day screen.
Fixed menus becoming permanently inaccessible (a softlock that previously forced a manual quit).
Gameplay
Festival celebration rewards are no longer lost when your inventory is full. Overflow rewards are now delivered to your mailbox.
Reloading a save no longer duplicates placed objects such as pet houses and items.
Your money can no longer drop below zero.
Weather effects now play correctly. Thunder, lightning, rain/snow/dust, and solar storms were previously not appearing.
Your companion now settles when you approach it, so you can interact with it instead of chasing it, and it no longer steals the interaction from the tile you're trying to use.
Bug catching now shows clear feedback (a red cursor) when a bug is spooked and can't be caught.
Animals are less likely to escape fenced areas, with tighter wandering and no more slipping diagonally through fence corners.
The Omnitool's gust no longer destroys placed objects.
Gifting an NPC no longer consumes your only copy of a key or lore item.
Settings & UI
Volume and other settings now reliably save between sessions.
Removed a leftover "Errr" placeholder shown for unbound keys on the controls screen.
Performance
Fixed lag and stutter that built up over long play sessions and previously cleared only after a save-and-reload.
Text
Fixed player-facing spelling (Synthetic Meat/Milk, Piranhafish, Xenoarchaeology, and more).

What consoles are launching?
Nintendo Switch, Xbox X/S, Xbox One, and PS5
Why is PS4 not listed?
Unfortunately, we won't be releasing on the PS4.
Does this mean PC is in 1.0?
Yes! With the conclusion of the story and the game's arrival on console, the PC version has also officially launched into 1.0 and is no longer an Early Access title. If you haven't played yet - now is a great time to dive in and get the full experience?

Here's the list of fixes coming just in time for the holidays:
🌩️ Thunderstorm SFX is now affected by sound settings
⚡ Thunderstorm damage to objects has been reduced.
🥚 Updated descriptions for Fossilized Egg and Skull
🛠️ Omni-tool upgrades are now applied instantly.
🐞 You can no longer interact with wildflowers while a bug drone is selected.
🗺️ Resolved object placement issues on map borders.
🌱 Fixed growth time display for seeds—green thumbs rejoice!
🌽 Fixed descriptions of most crops; they should no longer be the same as their seeds.
⭐ Collecting a crop from an incubator now properly awards an Omnistar.

First, we want to thank you for your incredible support and patience. Your feedback through our Discord and Steam Discussion boards has been invaluable in shaping the game and guiding our development throughout Early Access. We know we’ve been quiet as a dev team, but we’ve been hard at work crafting something truly special for you.
Today, we’re excited to celebrate the release of the Act II Update!
⚠️ It is recommended that you start a new save with this update. ⚠️
This marks a monumental milestone in the game’s journey, bringing a wealth of new content, features, and improvements. From new characters and quests to new systems and mechanics, this update is packed with exciting additions.
But this update isn’t just about expanding the world — it’s about bringing your feedback to life and ensuring an experience that’s both exciting and rewarding. Whether it’s fixing lingering bugs, adding game-changing systems like marriage, teleportation, and gene-splicing, or introducing exciting new areas like Harlow Wilds and Crystal Forest, we’ve worked tirelessly to deliver Act II to One Lonely Outpost.
Here’s everything you need to know about Act II in a nutshell:

5 New Characters, Landers, and Marriage! Meet and recruit 5 new characters, each with unique storylines and quests. Propose to one of the 9 eligible NPCs and celebrate with a wedding cutscene!
15+ New Quests to advance the story, unlock new features, expand your colony, and deepen relationships.
2 Stunning New Maps, New Resources & Teleportation: Explore the resource-rich Harlow Wilds and the beautiful Crystal Forest and unlock the ability to teleport across the map.
Seasonal Overhaul and Dynamic Weather Systems: You can now experience FULL SEASONS! We have introduced dynamic weather, fully seasonal crops, and visually updated the whole world for each season! It’s important to note that crops now ONLY grow in their proper seasons; planting out-of-season causes withering!
Gene Splicing and Updated Mechanics: You can now create 5 new and unique crops that are only available through gene-splicing! We can’t wait for you to discover the vast amount of combinations possible as you unlock these new crop seeds. Each one has its own rarity - who will discover the LEGENDARY grade crop first? We have also added new ways to upgrade your Omnitool!
New Festival and Minigame to bring life to your colony. Celebrate Colony Founding Day with new NPC interactions, decor, and even fireworks! Learn a new way to harvest and grow crops outside of their season with the new tending minigame.
Steam Enhancements: Though they may seem small - their value is not! Cloud saves, trading cards, and achievements are now live!
Polished UI, Quality-of-Life Improvements, and Bug Fixes to create a smoother experience overall.

New Content & Features

5 New Characters
Kai, Sydney, Stellan, Johnny, and Norm
Norm introduces weekly restrictions on colony policies. However, if you’re clever, you might find that a well-timed cake can persuade him to loosen those rules!
2 New Maps
Crystal Forest and Harlow Wilds
Includes new mining resources, new flowers, new fish, and new wildlife.
2 New Minigames
Tending: Take control of your crop growth in a whole new way. Success in this minigame means your crops will take just five days to grow, regardless of the season, giving you more flexibility in planning your harvests.
Gene-Splicing: Using your gene-splicing machine, powered by a reactor, you can experiment with combinations of seeds, fish, and insects to create five unique crops, each with their own rarity!
Full Seasons
Each season comes with its own unique crops, weather patterns, and environmental changes. Crops now grow only in their proper seasons, requiring careful planning to avoid withering fields. However, the stunning seasonal visuals—from snow-covered buildings in winter to lush greenery in spring—make it all worthwhile.
Dynamic Weather Patterns
Experience heavy snow and torrential rain alongside the existing weather patterns.
Sandstorms can sweep through and clear pests from your crops while Solar Storms add an extra layer of strategy by damaging machinery, which can be repaired using a toolbox or the Maintenance Minigame.
Omnitool Upgrades
Laser
Lucky Laser: Increases the chance of rare rocks dropping by 5%.
Salvage Module: Allows 100% resource recovery when destroying placed objects.
Spray
Nutrient Gel: Reduces crop watering time by 30%.
Pressure Matrix: Extends the spray cone by 1 tile.
Manipulator
Flora-Locator: Extends manipulation cone length by 1 tile.
Nutrient Integration: Instantly waters irrigated fields.
Gust
Hypercompressor: Extends the gust cone length by 1 tile.
Artifact Bonus: Doubles the chance of finding items in sand mounds.
Marriage Mechanic
Propose with a wedding band to one of nine eligible NPCs: Aaron, Eve, Linny, Sydney, Sally, Fadhili, Dirk, Johnny, or Stellan.
Celebrate the union with a wedding cutscene!
New Festival: Colony Founding Day
15 New Quests: Finish out the story!
Teleportation: Unlock the ability to go from one side of the map to the other instantly!
Quality of Life Improvements & Bug Fixes

Quests & Rewards
Players noted missing rewards for some previous quests and events. These now grant rewards, which will arrive via mail
Updated quest descriptions to make objectives clearer, and improved Fadhili’s barks for better interactions.
Players will now receive an email notification when Linny and Duyi open their stores.
Early Game Adjustments
Aaron now opens his lander earlier, so players can visit without time constraints.
The main story will now proceed even if the player hasn’t grown their first plant, preventing potential progression blocks.
Expanded Content & Balancing
Added 33 new recipes for dishes, including special NPC rewards tied to relationship levels.
Balancing adjustments: Farm plants now drop seeds less frequently, but harvest and dish prices have been increased to compensate.
Colony Upgrades
Fadhili’s house now features an upgrade board, allowing you to build new colony features like lamps, alternate lamps, bridges, and stone paths.
UI Overhaul
A complete rework of menus, including the Main Menu, Options, Save Profiles, Character Creation, Equipment, Calendar, Quest Window, Mail Window, and Omninac Window, ensuring a cleaner and more intuitive interface.
Controller Support: We had great feedback about improving controller support!
Fixed issues with the Maintenance Minigame, ensuring smooth operation even in sabotaged conditions.
Tutorials support scrolling via controller
Addressed various input issues, such as:
Seamless transitions between controller and keyboard on the Day Summary screen.
On the color customization screen, the game now clearly highlights selections
Correctly displaying and updating UI icons.
Ensuring the mail window doesn’t open automatically at the start of a new day.
Fixing functionality for "Deliver quest item" and "Order" commands.
Shopping cart improvements: You can now remove individual items without accidentally clearing the entire cart.

Although the fourth quarter may feel a ways away yet, it's a lot closer than you might think. We know many of you have been itching for an answer on console release and I'm excited to finally share some more solidified information on it!
Q4 will be a big quarter for the game as localization and console porting will officially begin. That means the game will be heading very quickly to a 1.0 launch around that time. 🎉
This doesn't mean for sure that consoles will be launched in the fourth quarter as porting and approval can take some time, but we will definitely be keeping you updated with official launch dates as soon as we have them!
If you haven't done so already, we would love to see your honest thoughts on the game with a Steam review. Reviews can make a huge difference for indie games and we love seeing what you think!

With all the new wildlife running around, make sure you don't forget about your very own pets or livestock back on the farmstead.
Been itching to date your favorite colonist? Wait no more! Profess your love and spend time with the romanceable colonist of your choosing.

New Features & Improvements
Added new quests and cutscenes; the story continues!
Added a new NPC, Sally
You can now explore the upper part of her lander, too!
Added a new quest which can be used to begin dating an NPC (requires 60 relationship with a romanceable NPC and will only start after Sally arrives)
NPC relationship window now displays a blue square if you already gave that NPC a gift this week
Added livestock, it unlocks after the “Alien In A Paddock” quest. Cow and Chicken can be purchased from Dirk. Robo versions of these animals can be purchased from Aaron
Added a new region: Vulcan’s Summit. You can find new resources there, like Tungsten Ore or Alexandrite Ore, and find a new wild animal, Pyre Impling!
You can now purchase smaller versions of wildlife animals from Dirk (after completing his pet quest) and keep them as pets in a Pet House. They can be petted, you can also tell them to follow you!
You can now receive more Biology stars by visiting Dirk with a wild animal
To prevent locking player’s Biology progress, all wildlife will temporarily spawn regardless of the season
Added an upgrade board which will be available next to Fadhili’s house, which will appear after building a Colony Hub. Using it will let you build Hot Springs in Vulcan’s Summit - they restore your stamina and prevent it from dropping while you’re using them
Added multiple visual updates to seasons
You can now harvest wild flowers (with four different rarities) and plant them yourself on your farm: Moonflower, Astrom Blush, Calypso Thistle, Crystalline Thorn
You can now use flower seeds on flower pots
Added new fishing drones and fish species; it’s now also possible to fish in Open Waters and The Depths
Manual saves are now displayed in the order of creation, from newest to oldest
Updated fishing summary screen, multiple caught fish of a single species are now displayed as a single entry
Added two new fences and a couple of decorations to Aaron’s and Dirk’s stores
Added ruins in Inanna Falls
Bug Fixes
Clicking info popup on the left side of the screen now always opens a correct tab
The UI will now display more than one (up to three) items obtained from breaking a rock in the mining minigame
Adjusted text in Unrefiner tutorial

We know you guys are itching for new content while the team is hard at work on fixes and general improvements. It might not be new content in the way you are hoping, but today we bring something to share that we think is pretty exciting - a UI overhaul is in the works!

Although this is very much still in progress, we wanted to share it with the community and get everyone's thoughts. Two of the main goals with this are to make menus easier to read and make them easier to navigate (especially with controller!).
If you haven't done so already, we would love to see your honest thoughts on the game with a Steam review. Reviews can make a huge different for indie games and we love seeing what you think!

Improvements & Changes
Improved NPC reactions to gifts by adding preference hints and descriptive reactions to disliked gifts (based on category, taste and style)
Disliked and Hated gifts are now displayed on the NPC relations screen; these will update every time an NPC receives a new gift from you (do note, however, that not every gift will display for every NPC)
It is no longer possible to bind movement keys to any other action
“Generate power” objective of “Reliable Food Supply” quest was updated to be more descriptive
Stores that sell items can now be quickly identified by a Shop Sign in front of them
Added a confirmation button for entering and leaving buildings (can be turned On and Off in Options)
Updated Help tab in Omninac to not describe mechanics that are not yet implemented
When starting a new game, the player can now select if tutorials should be displayed or not (can also be changed in Options)
Adjusted Linny’s shop tab description
Community Box no longer affects relations (this is a temporary change)
Bug Fixes
It is no longer possible to manually delete the save when you’re playing on it
Added missing names to Notazebrafish and Bowfish
Adjusted SFX in the maintenance mini-game
Aaron will now correctly sit on the chair
After starting a new game, game logo will now not disappear so abruptly
Fixed an issue that could cause the NPCs to enter dating status without a reason
Added missing icons for button prompts
Fixed dialogue in Elisha’s quest
Incorrect Bauxite Ore icon is now fixed on older saves
Sprinklers no longer activate during the rain

There are a lot of key changes in this update that came directly from your feedback and suggestions. Enjoy some light from lamp posts, fish the shallows with less worry, save your game at any point, and so many other smaller tweaks to make your settling on this foreign planet better.
If you were thinking about getting the game, now is a great time to do so as we are part of the Steam Winter Sale! From December 21st until January 4th, the game will be on sale for 20% off! Now you can save your game at any point without having to go to sleep to end the day! Just open your Omni-Tool and head over to the options tab to save over or load from an existing save.
The fishing mini-game has been revamped and no longer has the slider after dashing to catch the fish. There are also new warnings to make sure you don't miss your drone running out of power!
The decorative lamp posts are no longer just pretty to look at - they actually produce some light! Spruce up your farmstead with lighted pathways - without the need for a power source!
Improvements & Changes
it is now possible to manually save your game
updated tutorialization: moved some tutorial windows around so they no longer pop up randomly, added some clarification to existing tutorials. More to come, and any feedback is welcome!
from 0 to 2 rocks and minerals will regenerate in each region every day
from 3 to 5 sandmounds will now regenerate after a sandstorm hits a region
added “low power” notification for the fishing drone, with SFX
improved the fishing drone notification that is displayed when its almost completely out of power; also added SFX for it
added visual information that helps identify points at which you change regions
removed slider from the fishing mini-game
added coloured borders to Blueprints (Blue: usable item, Red: decorative item) during crafting
lamps are now a light source
Bug Fixes
buying an OmniTool upgrade through NPC Order will no longer make it unusable
a cutscene with Jim-bob and Elisha will no longer cause a time skip
opening options or inventory now prevents tutorial windows from popping up
fixed an issue that would sometimes make the game swap between two different energy bars
destroying rocks with an improved laser now displays a correct number of resources that will be obtained
changing seasons no longer causes plants to become translucent
fixed the UI display of “Activating the Cryo Vault” quest
fixed seed descriptions tooltips; they now display correct values
fixed looped SFX that could persist after one of the cutscenes with QWERTY
fixed a rare situation where the player could delete his own save while it was loading by clicking very quickly on the delete button

Unrefiner Implementation

As promised, this update corrects the issue where the new and shiny unrefiner turned into a cooker upon placement. Additionally, the running toggle that was introduced in the last patch can now be rebound on the keyboard!

Introducing the Unrefiner! Now you can take your refined items such as silicone and revert them back to their original state. That's some fancy technology.
Improvements & Changes
Added V-Sync to prevent screen stuttering on some hardware configurations
NPCs will now kick you out of their lander when its their scheduled time to sleep
NPCs will close their Landers at set hours
Added highlights to menu buttons
Visual adjustments to a waterfall in Inanna Falls
Autosave profile is now marked as such on profile selection screen
Player name and planet name now have a character limit
Added some missing icons to items
A couple of quests that previously had no rewards, now do
Added rebindable keybind for run/walk speed toggle
The player can now complete deliverable quests for an NPC one by one instead of having to deliver everything at once
Bug Fixes
Unrefiner no longer turns into a cooker upon placement and is fully implemented IMPORTANT NOTE: If you’re playing on an older save and already have a bugged Unrefiner that turns into a Cooker, you will need to go to Aaron and purchase a blueprint for a new one.
It is no longer possible to get out-of-bounds by eating food items while changing locations
Popups with new e-mails no longer disappear immediately
Fixed an issue that caused the game to become unresponsive during Elisha’s quest
Fixed an issue that could prevent the NPCs from arriving on time
Adjusted the interaction range of Fadhili’s house entrance
Season change will no longer cause the Community Box to display negative number of days
Fixed collision on a rock in Seaside Nexus
You will no longer receive thanks for Community Box challenge from an NPC that haven’t arrived yet
Fixes to Aaron’s cutscene

Movement Speed Changes & Piranha Drone Fix

The last patch addressed the memory leak and stutter problem, but many of you reported issues with creating the Piranha Drone and the unrefiner with the update. This patch will let you craft your Piranha drone without issue.
As for the unrefiner, it isn't technically implemented in the game yet despite the PGP mailing you one along with the blueprint. Someone at PGP must have snuck it into the outgoing mail without us knowing. The unrefiner will be fully implemented in the next update!

You can now toggle movement speed between a walk and run by pressing Left Shift or L3 on controller. This will be rebindable on keyboard in the near future.
