New Landing Sites are now available in the Fungal Depths Region, where strange readings have been recorded in the caverns. Whether you’re looking to head out on a Free Roam Expedition to gather cave supplies or prepping for a Voidbreak Offensive, this intel should be valuable. Suit up and get ready to delve into the depths!
THE FUNGAL DEPTHS
This Region opens up Expeditions to a sprawling underground cavern system comprised of hard and rocky terrain that is slow to deform without Utility Mod upgrades. Many bioluminescent fungi and flora populate the area, which almost make up for the lack of light from the surface.
Preliminary scans have revealed landmarks that may be worth exploring. There are multiple massive spore formations around sink holes that connect the surface world to the network of natural caverns, posing a challenging climb to get out of if you were to fall in. There’s also a mysterious hovel dubbed as the Pickle Witch Hut by previous exploratory teams, but we’re unsure what that means or who the Pickle Witch is. The Shroomling Village is also of great interest, likely the source of those strange readings.
NEW MISSIONS & GEAR
Astroneers embarking on Voidbreak Offensives have new Blueprints to unlock! Those who help reestablish the Comms Relay in the Tangle will earn a Blueprint for the Air Cannon Nozzle, a significant upgrade over the Air Blast Nozzle. There are also Blueprints for the Climb Speed Mod V2 for faster climbing and the Goop Gel Mod that makes you extra bouncy when you’re Gooped up or you cross Gooped surfaces.
As for those looking to investigate the strange readings in the Fungal Depths, you stand to unlock Blueprints for the versatile Multi-Liquid Hose Nozzle (which shoots any liquid you last stood in), the Swim Speed Mod V2 for even faster swimming, and the impervious Power Shield Mod to divert all damage to your Power supply (so don't run out!).
SHROOMLING VILLAGE
There’s something eerie about this village. It’s not the first time Shroomling habitation has been found. Intrepid explorers who have delved into the depths of Tephra have already found a few dens, but nothing quite as big as this village. Shroomlings might show an interest in you if you come visit, but they’re perfectly content to just creepily stare at you. It’s the peculiar altar at the center that seems rather ominous... is it for worship?
DEEP CAVE EXPLORATION
You’ll inevitably end up delving into caverns if you come to explore the Fungal Depths, so there are a few tips spelunking Astroneers should keep in mind. As noted, the terrain can be significantly harder down here, so if you’re looking to create your own shortcuts or try to dig your own exit, you’ll need to bring a Hard Terrain Mod or the EXO Multi-Tool Amplifier.
You could find either of these Mods if you complete the Tangle’s Excavation Field Ops or unlock one of these Blueprints if you work through the Crew Members’ Missions in the Sinking Reef. Even so, some caverns can be surrounded by Undiggable Terrain, so trying to dig up a shortcut may not always be an option.
DEALING WITH HAZECAPS
One particular hazard to be wary of in the Fungal Depths is the Hazecap. Any Astroneer who has delved deep enough into the caverns of Tephra may have already run into some of these, but they’re much more abundant in this Region.
These hazards surround themselves in a dark hazy aura of spores that can bypass Astroneer suits to quickly begin slowing you down and obscuring your vision, damaging you over time. They can be lethal if you don’t step out of range or deal with them fast enough.
These effects can be prevented by getting yourself Wet, but you could also just eliminate the Hazecap through standard forms of damage, such as fire or directly digging them up. After eliminating a Hazecap, their spore effects still linger for a time, so you may want to wait a bit before crossing through. And while fire might do the job, it will also temporarily disperse the spores into an even greater area for a short time, so it’s not recommended.
SPHALERITE
MALACHITE
CLAY
RESIN
COMPOUND
AVAILABLE RESOURCES
Each Region has different Resources; some are even unique to only one Region on the whole planet. The Fungal Depths allows prospecting Astroneers to find deposits of Sphalerite, Malachite, and Clay, in addition to Resin and Compound, which are common to all Regions.
LOCAL CREATURES
Due to the barren surface and restrictive network of hazardous underground tunnels, only a few creatures have managed to survive here. The Shroomlings are most at home here and are, in fact, thriving. Spewders have also been found nesting in this Region, especially around the spore formations that lead underground.
This is only a preliminary report of what can be found within the Fungal Depths. There’s sure to still be plenty more to discover, so gear up and venture forth! Feel the Force!

We’ve been teasing big changes coming to STARSEEKER, and the Voidbreak Update is the first major step toward these changes! In addition to opening new Landing Sites in the Fungal Depths Region and starting a new Region Rally today, we’ve also introduced our first two Voidbreak Offensives, activities in a new cooperative game mode!
Keep reading to learn about the new antagonistic forces of the Void you’ll be facing as well as more changes coming to the game in future updates.
The Voidbreak Update is a Major Update for STARSEEKER. We’re addressing feedback about the game and making significant changes to its core design to better keep you engaged in what you’re doing, more easily find other players to play with, and get a better sense of the impact your efforts are making in this world.
Big changes like these can’t be done easily in one fell swoop, so consider this update as a first step toward this new vision for the game, with much more to follow in the coming months. With this new vision in mind, the team has been working hard at pulling forward content we originally intended to add later in the development timeline, as well as new ideas.
We're really excited to get this content into players' hands! That said, we still need additional rounds of iteration, and we want your feedback to guide us in the right direction. Whatever your thoughts about this new content, please share it with us on our Discord or any of our social channels. Know that we'll be carefully looking through it all to keep refining and making improvements.
LIVE Steam Sale!
To coincide with the release of the Voidbreak Update, STARSEEKER is currently on its first Steam sale! Starting today, September 2nd, and ending September 8th, both the STARSEEKER base game and the Engineering Pack are now 20% off. Additionally, if you own ASTRONEER, then you already have a 15% discount on STARSEEKER, which adds up to 35% off for you!
ASTRONEER is also on sale at 75% off as part of the Steam PvE Survival Crafting Fest, which also ends September 8th, so it could be a good time to grab both or convince a friend to join you.
A NEW INTERGALACTIC THREAT – THE VOID
We've talked about our intent to introduce this game's antagonist much sooner than we originally intended to make it clear that Astroneers are pushing against something threatening that will push right back. That's the Void, a perilous cosmic entity that consumes all by corrupting anything it comes in contact with, especially life forms.
The Void is the final evolutionary state of LRDs, those mysterious monochromatic marbles. Once awakened, it stops at nothing to devour everything around it. Even the terrain becomes an extension of the Void, slowly spreading farther as it devastates the planet.
Tephra isn't the only planet in danger. The very existence of the universe depends on defeating the Void. The Starseeker is the first EXO crew to understand how deadly the Void is, and it's up to everyone on board to stop its spread.
Voidlings
Spawned by the Void, Voidlings are the first Void entities to be introduced. These little one-eyed blobs may not seem like much of a threat by themselves, but getting swarmed by a bunch of them or getting jumped by one while your attention is divided can spell the end of any Astroneer.
Void entities all aid in the spread of the Void in different ways. In the case of Voidlings, that comes as the ability to burst into Void puddles that corrupt both the terrain and any Astroneers the Void comes in contact with.
To defeat them, most Nozzles and damaging Canisters should do the trick, but SPA Water is the bane of the Void, so it will be most effective against them and the Void they spread. Those disturbing purple eyes are also sensitive to Astroneer scanners, so scanning a Voidling will make the eyes pop for a quick take down.
Void Terrain
The spread of the Void threatens to engulf everything, including the terrain itself. Void Terrain appears to be covered in a monochrome swirl sludge, like an LRD spill. Void entities will do their best to spread Void Terrain, so you should do your best to clear it.
When you find growing tendrils of Void Terrain, use your scanner to identify their source. You should be able to find red spheres underground, LRDs and their decoy signals. These Void Terrain tendrils will continue growing and spawning Voidlings if left alone, but severing a tendril from its LRD origin will temporarily stop its spread and prevent Voidlings from spawning on the severed portion. As with Void entities, SPA Water can easily cleanse this corruption, but you can also deform the Void Terrain with your EXO Multi-Tool at the expense of slowly gaining some corruption.
To fully clear this Void Terrain, you must eliminate the LRD that is causing it. LRDs encase themselves in Undiggable Void Terrain, but these shells are ruptured by the tendrils of Void Terrain that grow from them. Follow the tendrils and track them back to their source. Destroy the LRDs with either SPA Water or terrain deformation, and you’ll also cleanse some of your own corruption.
Void Corruption
Coming into contact with the Void can create a buildup of corruption that progressively cuts down your health. Your health bar will be reduced more and more, replaced with Void corruption that limits your maximum health in stages until there’s almost nothing left. It won't outright take you down, but it will leave you very vulnerable to incoming attacks.
You can use SPA Water to cleanse yourself and your Squad, but SPA Water can only do so much. There are five stages of corruption, and being exposed to corruption can push you into further stages. SPA Water can only cleanse the corruption buildup that would push you into the next stage. After reaching a stage of corruption, there’s no way to cleanse it, only returning to the Starseeker will restore your health to normal.
VOIDBREAK OFFENSIVES
Bringing players together around shared goals is when STARSEEKER shines the most, and that’s what Voidbreak Offensives are meant to prioritize. Voidbreak Offensives are a new type of Expeditionthat represent a new game mode. You can launch from the station and be matched with other players into an instanced scenario in which only your Squad will be present, unlike Free Roam Expeditions, which are the traditional way of playing STARSEEKER that you’re already familiar with.
There are different Voidbreak Offensives you can choose from, each in a set location with goals to accomplish. This mode will present players with a greater challenge. It’s possible to fail Voidbreak Offensives if your whole Squad is wiped out, so you’ll have to prepare properly with some of your best gear in order to improve your chances of success, but know that failure will damage your gear and lose your unequipped inventory.
The Command Table
Launching into an Expedition is now done on different sections of the Starseeker bridge. You can still use the Launch Terminals at the bottom of the bridge to go on free Roam Expeditions. To launch into a Voidbreak Offensive, use the new Command Table, right where the planetary hologram next to Captain Jupiter used to be.
You also have the option to enable matchmaking for both modes now. You're not forced to match into a Squad or bring your own Squad to play Voidbreak Offensives, but the difficulty is tuned around Squads, so solo players will have a really challenging time.
And for those who may be wondering, we'll continue to support Free Roam Expeditions. They’re still a great way to gather resources, complete Tasks, and are generally a more chill way to play the game. Keep reading to learn more.
Earning Rewards
Voidbreak Offensives are meant to be a repeatable source of valuable rewards, which may see some further iteration in future updates as we add more ideas we’re working on and respond to feedback. Succeeding will reward everyone in your Squad with Credits, rarer resources like Carbon Fiber, and new Framework crafting items.
There are Mod Frameworks and Nozzle Frameworks. As their names suggest, they are used in crafting Mods and Nozzles, respectively, and are necessary components for crafting advanced gear. The newest Blueprints in the game for the most advanced Mods and Nozzles will be unlocked with these rewards, as well as new gear that we’re actively developing now.
A Starseeker supply drop has been compromised. Retrieve the components, then use them to print and install the Comms Relay atop the highest spire.
VOIDBREAK OFFENSIVE – UPLINK
This Voidbreak Offensive brings you and your Squad into the Tangle Region, pitting you directly against the Void and other local fauna caught in the crosshairs. Creatures like Boghounds and Spewders will be as aggressive as ever, so plan for a tough fight in addition to bringing enough SPA Water to deal with the Void.
The Starseeker has been picking up strange readings from the caverns of the Fungal Depths. Investigate the source and bring back a sample for further study.
VOIDBREAK OFFENSIVE – CORE RETRIEVAL
This Voidbreak Offensive calls you into the cavernous maze of the Fungal Depths, where Shroomlings sing an eerie song amongst hazardous spores that are influenced by the Void. To what end? It’s hard to say. But it’s clear that the Void is benefiting from it, so it must be stopped.
Be wary of singing Shroomlings that make it to their places of worship; they’ve been known to cause Delirium. The whole Squad can fall to Delirium without the chance to revive, so watch each other’s backs and clear out those Shroomlings!
Speaking of the Fungal Depths...
NEW LANDING SITES – THE FUNGAL DEPTHS
Expeditions can now land directly in the Fungal Depths Region! This dark and barren land may be inhospitable on the surface, but underneath there’s a sprawling cavern system of hardened terrain filled with bioluminescent fungal life. Pack a Hard Terrain Mod and look out for Spewders or dangerous hazards, especially Hazecaps.
As mentioned earlier, Free Roam is how we’re now referring to the original way of playing Starseeker that you’re already familiar with. There's less pressure in Free Roam Expeditions, which are well suited for gathering resources, exploring, and hanging out with your Squad.
Speaking of Squads, this Update also introduces Matchmaking settings for Free Roam, letting you match into a Squad of other players looking to do some Free Roam exploring. Of course, you can also disable Matchmaking in this mode if you feel like heading out solo, though you might still run into other players roaming nearby.
We have some exciting plans for Free Roam that will also be bringing the Void into this mode, along with new ways in which you can contribute toward leaving a lasting mark on the world. This is part of the changes where we want to show players the impact they’re making with their Expeditions, and we hope to share more details on this soon.
New Blueprints
Since we’re no longer introducing new Missions, you may be wondering how Blueprints are earned now. All new Blueprints in this Update are earned with the first successful completion of each Voidbreak Offensive. Here’s the list:
Air Cannon Nozzle – Uplink
Climb Speed Mod V2 – Uplink
Goop Gel Mod – Uplink
Multi-Liquid Hose Nozzle – Core Retrieval
Swim Speed Mod V2 – Core Retrieval
Power Shield Utility Mod – Core Retrieval
In future updates, we’ll be changing how previous Blueprints are earned so that new players have a consistent experience. As for all of you who have already unlocked plenty of Blueprints, those won’t be going anywhere, so don’t you worry. We also have plans for new content that will replace Missions, so more information on that soon.
"FUNGUS AMONGUS" REGION RALLY
With a new Region opening up, we’re starting a new Region Rally today! Crew Members are calling for Cave Supplies to stock up on valuable minerals and gather new research samples. Cave Supplies are found in any of the deep caverns of Tephra but are most plentiful in the Fungal Depths. Make sure your faithful EXO Multi-Tool is good to go, pack a flashlight, and delve in.
The Challenge
There's a wide variety of Cave Supplies that the Crew Members are looking for, each contributing one point toward the Community Goal. Generally speaking, as long as you only find it in natural caverns or damp dark places, it should count. The full list includes:
Jelly Bulbs
Inkcap Spores
Digested Alloys
Radiant Resins
Helicores
Crystal Clusters
Gluodes
Make sure you leave plenty of Backpack space on your next Expedition! There are some nice rewards for all who participate, so make sure you contribute at least a few samples.
Start Date: Today! September 2nd, 2026. Starting at 11 AM PST, or after maintenance is done.
End Date: Sunday, September 6th, 2026. Ending at midnight PST.
Open the DAD menu and under "Objectives," look for the "Event" tab to track progress.
The Rewards
The more progress the players make toward completing the Region Rally, the more reward tiers will be unlocked for all participating Astroneers! Please note that it can take a few minutes after reaching a milestone for the reward to show in your Inbox.
Tier 1 at 20% of the Goal – Firefly Visor
Tier 2 at 50% of the Goal – Shroomhead Hat
Tier 3 at 100% of the Goal – Deep Light Palette
Repeatable Stretch Goal Rewards: These will award all participants with a Delver's Pack each time a stretch goal is reached. This pack includes: 1x Climb Speed Mod V2, 5x SPA Water Canisters, and 25 Credits. The Climb Speed Mod V2 is only earnable the first time; the following stretch goals still grant the SPA Water Canisters and Credits.
UPCOMING EXO OUTLET FEATURED OFFERS
As a heads-up, next Wednesday, September 9th, featured items in the EXO Outlet will have a Credits discount! So, if you have your eye on any of these cosmetics to add to your Customizer wardrobe, it may be worth waiting a bit. Like every other currency in STARSEEKER, Credits are earnable-only.
The Clowder Emporium
As a preview of the next visits from Felix, the Clowder Emporium will bring new cosmetic items this month. Starting with their visit next month in October, we’ll begin to add cosmetic items from past events.
We also made the decision for new items added to the Clowder Emporium to stay in the Emporium, rather than being on rotation as communicated previously. So, if you don't have enough Baubles for something you want, you can just save up for the next visit.
PATCH 1.2.0 – IMPROVEMENTS AND BUG FIXES
There was a lot of work going into this update to add the new Voidbreak Offensives and Matchmaking infrastructure, as well as all the surrounding features that came with them. We’ll continue to iterate on all this as your feedback begins to come in. Even so, we still managed to tackle a lot of bugs and improve the overall quality of the release alongside this new content. Here are the highlights:
Balance Changes
AG-18778 – Changed the Lasso and Shock Lasso Nozzles behavior so that they can no longer latch on to other players.
Developer Note: This feature was being used to grief players, so we felt it was best to remove it. If you experience any griefing, remember you can report them in-game. Go to the Social tab in the DAD menu, select the profile of the offending player, and select Report Player.
Reduced the radius of the blast created by destroying a Null Field. Successfully eliminating one shouldn't feel like you’re being penalized now.
Made changes to Shock effects so that they now impart a little more Fatigue Buildup and reduced the time needed for Lassos to lock on to targets.
Developer Note: We noticed some feedback about the utility of the Shock Lasso that we hope these changes will help address.
Changed the duration of the Burning Status Condition from 5 seconds to 10 seconds. This also results in doubling the Fatigue Buildup by the end of the Status Condition.
Improvements
AG-18500 – Added a Health bar for other members of your Squad that shows under their names when their Health is below 100%. This is to help give better awareness of Squad Health when using healing.
AG-18498 – Changed the Sell action when trading with Crew Members so that it now sells the whole selected stack by default. There’s now a secondary action to “Sell Some” noted in the bottom right corner of the window UI that lets you select the specific amount you want to sell.
AG-16993 – Made a change so that the button/key to open the DAD Menu is now the same one used to close it for both controllers and mouse & keyboard.
AG-18058 – Added an error message that now pops up when you try to equip a second Utility Mod of the same type.
AG-19270 – Made improvements to buffs affecting swim speed so that they now also improve swim speed while ascending and descending.
Bug Fixes
General:
AG-18818 – Fixed an issue where sprinting while carrying heavy items wouldn't cost Stamina.
AG-19260 – Fixed an issue where the station highlight signs would not always display player characters.
AG-12701 – Fixed an issue that would cause Carrotling Health bars to show while they were being held.
AG-19213 – Fixed an issue where the Resolution Scale setting could be reset despite still showing the selected value in the Settings menu.
AG-18310 – Fixed an issue that could cause controls to become unresponsive after cancelling a friend request when playing on the Nintendo Switch 2.
Fixed various other VFX, display, and animation issues.
User Interface:
AG-18808 – Fixed an issue that was causing the Refiner UI to show the same side tab options as the Printer UI.
AG-15364 – Fixed an issue that was preventing Field Mission: Elevation Readings from correctly displaying on the Mission tab in the End of Expedition screen.
AG-18835 – Fixed an issue where returning from an Expedition with no items in your inventory could show “Items Recovered” instead of “Items Lost” in the End of Expedition screen.
AG-19049 – Fixed an issue where Landing Site waypoints would disappear after rejoining an Expedition a player disconnected from.
AG-19110 – Fix an issue that would still show the Expedition countdown message while having the Planet View map up on the station.
AG-16858 – Fixed an issue where the waypoint for the Altimeter during Field Mission: Elevation Readings would sometimes disappear.
AG-18707 – Changed the notification message for unlocking multiple Community Challenge rewards at once so that it’s clearer now.
AG-18649 – Fixed an issue in the Customizer UI where examining an item and then exiting the examine view would not keep the highlight on the same item that was examined.
AG-16201 – Fixed an issue where the Expedition loading screen animation could momentarily show the icon of the Dropship heading in the opposite direction than intended while playing on the Nintendo Switch 2.
AG-18333 – Fixed an issue present in Russian language where the “Keyboard/Mouse Mapping” header text in the Settings Menu would overlaps with the description window.
Stickers & Achievements:
AG-19025 – Fixed an issue that was preventing the Golden Pathos achievement from being granted for completing a Mission chain.
Developer Note: We’ve retroactively granted this achievement to everyone that should have earned it. Thank you to all who reported this issue!
AG-19078 – Fixed an issue where using Super Medi-Mash would not count towards progress for the Wince and Repeat Sticker.
Expeditions:
AG-16727 – Fixed an issue where the pod with the Elevation Console for Field Ops: Elevation Readings sometimes wouldn’t spawn on Undiggable Terrain.
AG-18338 – Fixed an issue with Field Ops: Creature Wrangling where it could grant its rewards twice for a single completion.
Missions:
AG-19237 – Fixed an issue where the Claws Out Mission wasn’t granting the Anti-Shock Screen Blueprint with its rewards.
Developer Note: We’ve also retroactively granted this Blueprint to everyone that should have earned it by completing the Mission.
AG-19235 – Fixed an issue with the set of rewards of Science Officer Jessandra’s Safety Loop Mission, where it was granting the Shock Lasso Blueprint despite that also being the reward of the previous Mission.
KNOWN ISSUES
Edit: The following issues were reported after the release of this update, and we’ll be working to address them in future updates.
AG-19319 – Comms Relay Parts can fall through the floor and terrain in the Uplink Voidbreak Offensive.
AG-19578 – The Overachiever achievement for those who complete all other achievements is not being granted as intended.
AG-19575 – All player nametags are being shown all the time at both the station and on Expeditions.
AG-19558 – The on-screen message for failing the Core Retrieval Voidbreak Offensive is showing a placeholder "You Died" message.
The following are some of the most relevant issues that have been reported by the community and we’re already working to address.
AG-12481 – Gliders aren’t applying Palette colors as intended. This is a bug and not intentional.
AG-4484 – Gliders can sometimes stay unfolded while transitioning into a climb or during the climb over animation.
AG-11032 – The Expedition launch screen can often repeat a Squad member’s name and make it appear as if the Squad is larger than it is.
AG-17103 – Player character’s right hand appears dislocated when previewing some cosmetics in the Customizer and the EXO Outlet.
AG-18354 – Controller button mapping changes are reset when closing and relaunching the game.
AG-18208 – Movement keys cannot be rebinded for Mouse & Keyboard controls.
In our previous Hotfix, we messaged the fix we implemented for bug number AG-17822. This fixed an issue that could result in a number of encounters to spawn in a broken state, resulting in unresponsive, floating, and/or invisible creatures and hazards. If you’ve continued to run into similar issues following this hotfix, please send us a bug report with any relevant details: [email protected]
Tips & Workarounds
You can change your Display Name by opening the DAD menu and in the Social tab selecting your username under Squad Members. This will open your Player Profile where you can find the Change Display Name option.
If you’re experiencing connection issues on the Nintendo Switch 2, try going to your Switch’s “Settings”, select “Date and Time”, and in that menu make sure “Synchronize Clock via Internet” is toggled on.

A few troublesome bugs have popped up following the release of the Sinking Reef Update, so we're issuing a few bug fixes and changes to address them.
PATCH 1.1.1
This Hotfix addresses some funkiness that was happening for a number of encounters during Expeditions. Bog Hounds should no longer attack you telepathically or in ghostly invisible forms. Hazards and wreckage should also be responsive again. We also addressed a couple more issues and removed Missions that were never finished or intended to be added to the game, so apologies on any confusion that might have caused.
BUG FIXES
AG-17822 – Fixed an issue that could result in a number of encounters to spawn in a broken state, resulting in unresponsive and/or invisible creatures and hazards.
AG-17382 – Fixed an issue that was preventing uncompleted Missions from the State of Flux Community Challenge from being cleared from your list of active Missions following the end of the event.
CHANGES
AG-19092 – Removed defunct unfinished Missions that at one point were intended to be associated with the Fungal Depths Region and were mistakenly made available with the Sinking Reef Update.
AG-19120 – Removed a Malfunctioning Demolition Device that could spawn within range of a Landing Site in the Sinking Reef Region.
KNOWN ISSUES
Due to a bug, the “Cultural Exchange: Elysium Science Lab” Task, available during the Pulp Friction Community Challenge, cannot be completed.
Follow our STARSEEKER social channels to keep up with the latest news. If you run into an issue while playing the game, please send us a bug report with as much context as possible:

After a few days of having some fun in the sun exploring the Sinking Reef, Astroneers should be feeling nice and recharged. So, isn't it great timing for Ensign Carl to suddenly make it back to the station with a bundle of rowdy Carrotlings!?
Get the lowdown on this new Community Challenge so you can come in nice and prepared for some Carrotling mayhem.
Ensign Carl could use some help
Hiya! Mr. Jupiter wants us to make buds with Carota, and that's one thing I know heaps about. I could handle it on my own, but the Cap doesn’t think I can do it solo, so I guess we're partners.
"PULP FRICTION" COMMUNITY CHALLENGE
For the duration of this new Community Challenge, Ensign Carl will be present on the Starseeker along with a few troublesome Carrotlings, namely the Carrotling warlord himself, Lord Carota! You'll be able to find them to the left side, facing the bridge where Captain Jupiter is, next to JAM-BX.
Speaking of Captain Jupiter, he may have his doubts about allowing these creatures on the station (as well as a fair share of blame to place on Carl), but something good may yet come out of all this. Lord Carota has been babbling an awful lot about "Marbles" and may turn out to be a goldmine of intel. You've proven to be very reliable, so you're being tasked with helping establish a diplomatic relationship with him and his Warbundle.
The Challenge
Lord Carota will recognize your efforts by rewarding you with Barcodes of Honor, earned by completing his Missions or any of the new Tasks added for this event. Each one of Lord Carota's Tasks will earn you 1 Barcode of Honor. In addition, as you earn his trust, his Missions will progressively grant more and more Barcodes of Honor.
There are some nice rewards for all who participate, so make sure you contribute at least a few Barcodes of Honor.
Start Date: Wednesday, August 12th, 2026. Starting at 10 AM PST.
End Date: Sunday, August 23rd, 2026. Ending at midnight PST.
Open the DAD menu and under "Objectives," look for the "Event" tab to track your progress.
The Rewards
The more progress the crew makes toward completing the Community Challenge, the more reward tiers will be unlocked for all participating Astroneers! Please note that it can take a few minutes after reaching a milestone for the reward to show in your Inbox.
Tier 1 at 20% of the Goal – Sticker Shock Visor
Tier 2 at 50% of the Goal – Carotene Spirit Palette
Tier 3 at 100% of the Goal – Loose Leaf Hat
Edit 2: The blog copy has been corrected to reflect the actual order these items will be awarded in. The in-game Objectives menu tab still shows rewards in an inaccurate order.
Repeatable Stretch Goal Rewards: These will award all participants with a Frequent Shopper's Pack each time a stretch goal is reached. This pack includes: 1x Super Fire Canister, 5x Stim Packs, and 25 Credits.
Can you befriend Lord Carota?
THE LORD CAROTA offers DISCOUNT ALLIANCE. But you, PITIFUL SHOPPER, must prove your worth to earn Fearsome LOYALTY REWARDS. Bring merciless diplomacies! LIQUIDATE CARROTLINGS! No refunds, no remorse.
New Missions
A new Mission Chain is available for the duration of this Community Challenge. Start by going to Captain Jupiter to be debriefed, and you'll be pointed to where Ensign Carl and Lord Carota can be found with a few Carrotlings from his Warbundle. Complete their Missions before the end of the Community Challenge to befriend the Carrotlings and earn the Warcry Emote on the final Mission!
New Tasks While Supplies Last!
Lord Carota has also issued a wide array of violent new Tasks to be completed for the duration of this Community Challenge. They're all aimed at helping Lord Carota secure more power for his Warbundle (and granting an outlet for his hatred of Shroomlings), each rewarding you with 1 Barcode of Honor. Just like regular Tasks, they also have Credit bonuses for the first time you complete each one, so make sure to try different ones!
If you're the kind of Astroneer who likes tossing Carrotlings around like footballs, then hey, at least now you have a reason for it! But don't worry, you still get to try and be friends with some of them.

Thanks to the intrepid exploration of all Astroneers, new Landing Sites have been made available in the Sinking Reef Region! New Missions are already being issued by Crew Members itching to hear about what discoveries lay within this unfamiliar corner of the planet. Suit up for your next Expeditions and be ready to get wet!
THE SINKING REEF
This Region opens up Expeditions to a heavily eroded ocean front. The Sinking Reef is characterized by coral structures jutting out from the ocean floor that skirt beaches and create impressive surface structures to explore.
Preliminary scans have revealed landmarks that may be worth exploring. In addition to the beautiful coral scenery, more wreckage of the ESS Elysium has been identified, including the ship’s Medical Bay and its Gravity Ring, which is mostly submerged. Sea Labs with valuable salvage have also been found around the ocean floor, so prepare to go underwater and report your findings to the Crew Members aboard the station.
NEW MISSIONS & GEAR
Investigations into the whereabouts of missing Crew Members have led us to the Sinking Reef, where we hope to shed light on some of the disturbing findings in their recovered Data Logs. Look to Science Officer Jessandra, Captain Jupiter, and JAM-BX for Missions that will reward you with Blueprints to new technology for your Loadout.
The advancements you can unlock here will allow you to swim faster and even dash underwater, not to mention the general improvements that V3 Mods will bring to your Health, Power, and Stamina. You can also unlock Blueprints to new Gadgets like the Vacuum Canisters to pull in creatures and objects, and you know what's even better than a Lasso Nozzle? A Shock Lasso! Both utility and defense in one neat little package.
UNDERWATER EXPLORATION
Much of the wonders of the Sinking Reef extend well beyond its surface, with many of its secrets hidden underwater. With the aid of the Swim Dash and Swim Speed Mods, which are now craftable after earning their new Blueprints, Astroneers are able to dive for much longer than ever before (it also doesn't hurt to bring Stim Packs and a Stamina Mod, since swimming can really tire Astroneers out!).
Keep an eye out for tunnel-like currents and circular Fling Rings to get an extra speed boost while diving. You’ll also want to look for nearby Air Bubbles, which can be a blessing when you’re too far from the surface to swim up before running out of Stamina.
SEA LABS
The ESS Starseeker forward team set up portable Sea Labs underwater to try and track more Elysium wreckage in the Sinking Reef, but they've fallen into varying states of disrepair since then. Sea Labs aren't limited only to the Sinking Reef, though; they can be found all around the oceans of Tephra.
There may be valuable discoveries to be found here, or at the very least precious salvage. Just be careful when attempting to explore them, since they can be quite hazardous.
NEW HAZARDS
The submerged ruins of the Sea Labs can be treacherous. In no small part, this can be attributed to Malfunctioning Arc Welders. They're similar to their Demolition Device counterparts, but they can also be found underwater. Instead of blowing you up, they're capable of shocking you or anything unfortunate enough to approach them. This can be especially problematic when you’re fully surrounded by water.
Along with Snag Vines that have managed to grow underwater, these hazards may now be found throughout the oceans of Tephra, so be careful when diving deep.
COBALTITE
QUARTZ
GRAPHITE
RESIN
COMPOUND
AVAILABLE RESOURCES
Each Region has different Resources; some are even unique to only one Region on the whole planet. The Sinking Reef allows prospecting Astroneers to find deposits of Cobaltite, Quartz, and Graphite, in addition to Resin and Compound, which are common to all Regions.
LOCAL CREATURES
Some of Tephra's most iconic and peculiar creatures can be found on the partially sunken and eroded surface of the Sinking Reef, including Carrotlings, Bog Hounds, Brutoliths, and Grab Crabs. There have also been reports of Ghost Tails, but they aren't prevalent. Marine life is largely harmless, but you should still keep an eye out for the previously mentioned hazards while underwater.
This is only a preliminary report of what can be found within the Sinking Reef. There’s sure to still be plenty more to discover, so gear up and venture forth! Feel the Force!

"LIFE'S A BEACH" REGION RALLY
The Sinking Reef is the first Region we’ve opened up new Landing Sites for since the Tangle, and this time we’re opening it up right away! We’re using a new type of Community Challenge to help reward your exploration of this Region called Region Rallies.
To prepare for the unfamiliar Region, Crew Members have asked every Astroneer aboard the Starseeker to bring back various organic samples found among the beaches and deep oceans throughout Tephra. Put on your favorite swimsuit (of the space variety) and dive in!
The Challenge
There's a wide variety of organic samples that the Crew Members are looking for, but generally speaking, as long as you find it on the coast or underwater, it should count. The full list includes: Coilcup Husks, Bristle Bulbs, Star Shells, Floral Corals, Seamelons, Glimmerstones, Algae Bulbs, Glow Bulbs, and Kelp Bulbs.
Make sure you leave plenty of Backpack space on your next Expedition! There are some nice rewards for all who participate, so make sure you contribute at least a few samples.
Start Date: Today! August 5th, 2026. Starting at 11 AM PST, or after maintenance.
End Date: Sunday, August 9th, 2026. Ending at midnight PST.
Open the DAD menu and under "Objectives," look for the "Event" tab to track your progress.
The Rewards
The more progress the crew makes toward completing the Region Rally, the more reward tiers will be unlocked for all participating Astroneers! Please note that it can take a few minutes after reaching a milestone for the reward to show in your Inbox.
Tier 1 at 20% of the Goal – Bubble Head Visor
Tier 2 at 50% of the Goal – Lily Livery Hat
Tier 3 at 100% of the Goal – Little Daddy Mask
Repeatable Stretch Goal Rewards: These will award all participants with a Swimmer's Pack each time a stretch goal is reached. This pack includes: 1x Swim Dash Mod, 5x Swim Boosts, and 5x of the new Vacuum Canisters. The Swim Dash Mod is only earnable the first time; the following stretch goals still grant the Swim Boosts and Vacuum Canisters.
New Suits – Aquatic Drip
The drip is quite literal with these new cosmetic additions to the EXO Outlet! The shop has been updated with a new set of aquatic-themed cosmetics as permanent additions, all available for Credits. These include the Aquanaut Suit and the Scuba Suit, perfect for your next watery Expedition. Like every other currency in STARSEEKER, Credits are earnable-only.
It's also worth noting that we've decided to leave the Stellar Suit in the EXO Outlet a while longer, for those of you still looking to earn enough Credits to get it. And as a reminder, once the Stellar Suit does leave the EXO Outlet, it will still return to the Clowder Emporium in the future and will be available for purchase from Felix for Baubles.
UPCOMING COMMUNITY CHALLENGE: PULP FRICTION
The Carrotlings have been extra rowdy as of late. They may be a silly/violent bunch, but maybe they know something we don't. Starting August 12th, shortly after the Sinking Reef Region Rally, we’ll start a new Community Challenge to try and gain some intel from them. Diplomacy is not the first thing that comes to mind when thinking about Carrotlings, but maybe we can find a good liaison to help with that. More info coming next week!
PATCH 1.1.0 – IMPROVEMENTS AND BUG FIXES
The focus of this update was primarily on delivering new Region and Mission content to players, so there are fewer live bugs fixed in this update than in the Astral Flux release.
Much like the Art team in the last release, the UI team did a big pass on visual issues across all parts of the UI, and especially on the Customization Closet. Meanwhile, the UX team has cooked up various improvements based on your feedback and you will start seeing those hit in the next two updates!
As always, we are keeping an eye on your reports and trying to address issues as quickly as we can alongside delivering new content, so please keep the reports coming to help us prioritize. Here are the highlights:
Improvements
General:
Made improvements to character movement so that it now feels more natural while gliding and aiming to throw an item.
Repositioned a Malfunctioning Demolition Device in the Tangle Region so it no longer spawns on the very edge of a cliff.
Bug Fixes
General:
Fixed a number of crashes across PC and consoles, including a PS5 specific crash.
Addressed an FPS drop that players were experiencing when opening the Customizer on the station.
Fixed an issue specific to the Nintendo Switch 2 where deforming terrain on the planet would create missing voxel pieces.
Addressed a number of visual issues with flora spawning above the terrain and appearing like it’s floating.
Player Customization:
AG-17949 – Player Customization items now show up in their correct positions in player profile pictures and highlighted in station screens.
AG-17430 – Fixed an issue that was preventing the “Explorer” Animation from looping its Walk and Run cycles when toggling it in the Customizer’s Expression tab.
AG-18598 – Fixed an issue that was preventing swapping between the Animation and Emote categories in the Customizer’s Expression tab.
AG-18268 – Fixed an issue that was causing the preview area in the Customizer to get out of sync after opening and closing the “Examine” view in the EXO Outlet.
AG-17996 – Fixed an issue that was maintaining the same character orientation when previewing items in the EXO Outlet, exiting it, and re-entering it.
UI:
AG-17955 – Fixed an issue that could cause the Account Linking option to be highlighted after closing the Player Info window in the Main Menu’s Game Settings.
AG-18339 – Made a correction to the Crew Member Mission interaction buttons so that they display in green rather than red.
AG-18485 – Fixed a visual issue on consoles where accessing the Settings from the Main Menu would show no highlight of the selected option in the Visuals tab.
AG-18009 – Fixed an issue that would prevent player characters from displaying on the station screens when getting highlighted for earning a Sticker.
AG-18650 – Fixed a visual issue in the EXO Outlet, where switching between tabs would show the UI dashing in from beyond the intended UI boundaries.
AG-14736 – Fixed an issue where there were no assigned keys in the bottom UI of the EXO Outlet for navigating between tabs while using Mouse and Keyboard.
AG-18308 – Fixed an issue where there was no assigned button to confirm and close the pop-up message for using the EXO Outlet for the first time.
Fixed – Get Fluxed Palette
In our most recent Hotfix, we messaged that players who completed Ensign Blandrew's Mission Chain would be receiving the Get Fluxed Palette reward in the next content update. That's this update! So as long as you completed all Missions of the "State of Flux" Community Challenge, up to the "Splashdown" Mission from Muriel, then you should now have this Palette waiting for you in your Inbox.
If you didn't manage to earn it this time around, then don't worry. It will return in the future to the Clowder Emporium and be purchasable from Felix for Baubles.
KNOWN ISSUES
The following are some of the most relevant issues that have been reported by the community and we’re already working to address.
AG-19025 – The Golden Pathos Achievement that asks players to complete a Mission Chain currently can’t be earned. Once we issue a fix for this, we’ll make sure to grant it to those who should have earned it.
AG-17103 – Player character’s right hand appears dislocated when previewing some cosmetics in the Customization Closet and the EXO Outlet.
AG-18354 – Controller button mapping changes are reset when closing and relaunching the game.
AG-18208 – Movement keys cannot be rebinded for Mouse & Keyboard controls.
Tips & Workarounds
If you experience any griefing from other players, remember you can report them in-game. Go to the Social tab in the DAD menu, select the profile of the offending player, and select Report Player.

Hey all! Joe here with a developer update! It has been only two weeks since our last game update, but enough has happened behind the scenes that we wanted to bring you all up to speed on the things that are coming to the game.
As Adam mentioned in ‘State of the Game’ a few weeks ago, (watch above) we took your feedback to heart and immediately got to work on making big changes to the existing plan to double down on the areas where you are having fun and pull back on the places where you gave us good feedback. We are not quite ready yet to put out the fully revamped roadmap, but I do have some cool updates I want to share:
WHAT WE HAVE BEEN UP TO
We are working to bring more interesting and engaging content to the world. This new content will sit alongside the current Expedition structure, offering more collaborative, goal-oriented, repeatable gameplay. If you got to play the new Drill Field Op, that is absolutely a first look at what we are thinking... more challenging content that requires you to plan and collaborate. You might fail, but you will learn and come back even stronger.
Here are some fun screenshots that will help you understand where some of this content is going, as well as an early look at some potential changes to the station...
That being said, content like this needs an existential threat. We were always planning on introducing an "enemy" into STARSEEKER, but your feedback made us take a hard look at the timeline for when we planned to roll out these new entities. We will have much more information about them in our next Developer Update, but above is another image to get your imagination going...
I think it goes without saying, but all of this is in active development and subject to change. Still, we love when we get to share images that let you in on how things are going. Now let's talk about tomorrow’s update.
UPDATE 1.1.0 – SINKING REEF
Tomorrow is our next content update to the game: The Sinking Reef Update. This will unlock new Landing Sites in the Sinking Reef Region, new Crew Member Missions with new gear to unlock, add underwater Sea Lab landmarks to explore, and bring various improvements as well as fixes to the game.
Crew Member Missions
The Sinking Reef Update is the last content update to the game before we start adding some of the ideas in our pivot mentioned above. As we prioritize this new content, we'll be putting other content on the backburner for us to reassess later. Crew Member Missions are included in this, so the Missions added by this update are likely to be the last Crew Member Missions we add to the game for a while.
We're not getting rid of narrative!!! We will be exploring different ways to bring worldbuilding to players. As always, we will be paying close attention to your feedback and continuing to iterate.
FUTURE UPDATES
What is next? Expect a fully rolled out roadmap for the rest of the year alongside our next game update, coming in LATE AUGUST! It will include the first versions of the above content and a LOT of big changes so we can all playtest and the team can take feedback to keep growing the game.
Don't expect completely final implementation, this stuff was going to come out months from now and we pulled it forward because it was in line with what we were hearing from you all.
Okay, that is everything for now! The team has been working really hard to make sure you all know that we are committed to this game, and we will keep taking your feedback as we go further into Early Access. Talk soon!
We're a few days into the State of Flux Community Challenge and Astroneers are doing a great job at supplying the ESS Starseeker with precious Astral Flux fuel! That said, a couple of issues have come to light since this release, so have a look below at how we're addressing them.

That said, a couple of issues have come to light since this release, so have a look below at how we're addressing them.
Get Fluxed Palette Reward
Normally, players should be earning the Get Fluxed Palette for completing all of Blandrew's Missions, but a bug is preventing this from happening. In response, we will be granting this Palette to all players who completed these Missions with the release of our next content patch.
For now, aim to complete all Missions as normal if you want to earn this Palette. The final Mission you need to complete is the "Splashdown" Mission from Muriel.
Team Blandrew Mission
For the "Team Blandrew" Mission, the description reads you need to reach Bronze Tier or higher, but it's currently only registering as completed if you specifically reach Bronze Tier. Given the duration of the Community Challenge and other updates that are in the works, we won't be able to fix this before the end of the event.
Instead, we recommend teaming up with friends who know you're trying to get Bronze or completing the Field Ops quickly before other players show up. Make sure the drill reaches the first Bog Hound encounter and then let them destroy it. Since there's only one Mission requiring this, you'll only need to do it once.
PATCH 1.0.10
This Hotfix makes it so that the Field Ops: Drilling variant that spawns Null Fields embedded in hard terrain won't trigger any more. In the future, we'd like to update our activity UI to give some information about the challenge in advance so that you can better prepare before launching on an Expedition.
CHANGES
Made a change so that Field Ops: Drilling no longer spawns in one of two variants, one of which included Null Fields embedded in hard terrain. This Field Ops now spawns only in one variant, and Null Fields will no longer appear.

Our first content update for STARSEEKER is now available! In addition to various improvements and bug fixes, we’ve started the new State of Flux Community Challenge with some cool cosmetic rewards to unlock, as well as the new limited time Field Ops: Drilling event to help you all make progress together.
Before digging in (pun intended), we have some updates to share on the STARSEEKER Early Access development plans.
It’s now been over a month since STARSEEKER launched in Early Access, and there have been many lessons learned as well as feedback for us to take in. Creative Director Adam Bromell is tackling some of these topics in the above State of the Game video, the first in what will be an ongoing series to keep you all up to speed.
One thing we want to highlight in particular is that we will be making changes to our previous Roadmap. Much of the content we already had good progress on will still be getting added to the game, but we’re prioritizing content and changes that we think will best address what we’ve learned these past few weeks.
We’ll have more to share once we have a proper breakdown to explain what we have in mind, along with a new Roadmap.
Region Rallies
Community Challenges as a whole will also be evolving over time compared to our first iteration with the Tangle. For starters, we’re distinguishing Community Challenges from events tied to new Regions.
These will now be called Region Rallies, and they will be geared more towards exploring the unlocked Regions rather than working toward unlocking them. Our next one is coming up not long after the State of Flux Community Challenge, so more on that soon. For now, let’s talk about the Astral Flux Update!
The ESS Starseeker’s Flux Drive is in desperate need of fuel, so it’s up to the whole crew to pitch in and scour the planet Tephra for Astral Flux to contribute. It may look like candy, but don’t eat it! It’s powerful stuff.
The Challenge
Astroneers are being called to help collect and contribute any and all Astral Flux! Some of you may have already been stockpiling Astral Flux, so this is the time to use it! Don’t worry about saving more for later. Astral Flux's main purpose is fueling the engine. There are some nice rewards for all who participate, so make sure you contribute at least a few nuggets.
Open the DAD menu and under "Objectives", look for the "Event" tab to track your progress.
The Flux Drive
You may have noticed that the Flux Drive, the engine at the very center of the station, has been suspiciously empty so far. The circumstances that led to this fuel drought are still unknown and being investigated, but now that the crew is rallying around the call for Astral Flux, you’ll start seeing the Flux Drive come to life with your contributions.
The Rewards
The more progress the crew makes toward completing the Community Challenge, the more reward tiers will be unlocked for all participating Astroneers!
Participation Reward – Space Bandit Mask
Tier 1 at 20% of the Goal – Star Wrangler Hat
Tier 2 at 50% of the Goal – Skybreaker Visor
Tier 3 at 100% of the Goal – Aurora Palette
And for all the go-getters out there, we’ll also have repeatable stretch goal rewards for the duration of the Community Challenge. These will award all participants with an Overachiever's Pack each time a stretch goal is completed. This pack includes: 1x Disposable Air Cannon, 5x Excavation Canisters, and 25 Credits.
New Missions
You’ll now be able to find Ensign Blandrew toiling away at drear... I mean, doing very important work, by the bridge where Captain Jupiter is. He’ll have new Missions to assign you during the event, and though Blandrew may be difficult to work with at first, completing his Missions is worthwhile for the sweet new Get Fluxed Palette final reward.
Edit: Currently there's a bug present that's not granting the Get Fluxed Palette. We'll grant this item to all who earned it in our next content update. Find more information here.
Stellar Suit
You may be looking now for the best suit to use with all the new cosmetics you can earn during the Astral Flux Community Challenge, which is why you can now find the brand-new Stellar Suit available at the EXO Outlet for 2,000 Credits. Like every other currency in STARSEEKER, Credits are earnable-only.
If you’re unable to acquire this suit during the Astral Flux Community Challenge, don’t worry! You'll be able to use Baubles to purchase it from Felix at the Clowder Emporium in the future.
FIELD OPS: DRILLING
A new limited time Field Ops activity is now available for the duration of the Astral Flux Community Challenge! Alongside other Astroneers, you’ll be able to leverage a massive drill (lovingly dubbed Drilliam by Muriel) to extract large amounts of Astral Flux, along with additional resources if you do a good job at keeping it cooled down and well defended.
Navigating to the Lagoon
After completing some of Blandrew’s Missions, he’ll direct you to use the EXO Drill Rover to help gather more Astral Flux. Once you track this Mission, you’ll have a marker during your Expedition to show you the way to the Field Ops: Drilling on a large island to the northeast of the Wetlands or northwest of the Tangle.
You don’t need Blandrew’s Mission to run this Field Ops, but the Mission marker can be good to help you navigate there the first time. Using the Air Blast Nozzle in combination with a Dash Mod can be a good way to make fast progress through the water, but you didn't hear that from me.
Overheating
As the EXO Drill Rover drills its way through hard terrain, it will begin to overheat. A large canister in the rear corner has a meter to help you track this. Make sure to bring a Water Hose Nozzle, Water Canisters, or anything that can apply the Wet condition to the drill. This will keep the drill running efficiently, so you don't need to do repairs on the go.
Defend the Drill
There are various hazards on the path of the EXO Drill Rover that you’ll need to clear to ensure it keeps running. Things might differ from your previous run, stay alert!
Null Fields embedded in hard terrain can stop the drill in its tracks, so come prepared! Null Fields can be dug out with Excavation Canisters, or you can Goop up the area and throw Fire Canisters to blow them up (just be careful).
Explosive Kablooms may be growing on the path. Try grabbing or lassoing them with the Lasso Nozzle after they’re dug out to dispose of them.
Malfunctioning Demolition Devices may also bombard the area, so running ahead of the drill to break them down can be very helpful.
The drill knows where it's going but has no regard for what may be in its path, including Boghound Burrows, angry Brutoliths, or even Carrotlings with the insane idea of bringing you Kablooms. Make sure to keep the drill defended, especially when it stops to recalibrate its path; it won’t move until nearby nests are broken down. It will take multiple Astroneers to face off against these creatures, so keep that in mind before starting the Field Ops.
Rewards
Once the Field Ops has ended, interact with the drill to claim heaps of Astral Flux nuggets as your reward. The further you manage to keep it cooled down, repaired, and well defended, the greater the rewards. Even if the drill breaks down and the Field Ops ends, make sure to still claim the Astral Flux you managed to mine.
Doing a good job at escorting the drill can also make it pop like a piñata with nuggets of other resources. The further you’re able to get the drill, and the more Astroneers participating, the more resources will pop out every time it survives an encounter. Just like a piñata, these are up for grabs for anyone who claims them first.
PATCH 1.0.9
This update features approximately 300 bug fixes across all areas of the game. We tried to tackle some of the most visible issues you’ve reported as well as tidy things up in areas we knew needed another pass. If you don’t see a particular issue you were hoping would get addressed, don’t worry! Some things take more than a quick bug fix to resolve, and we’re working on other UX improvements (looking at you, Stash!) alongside new content for future updates. In the meantime, here are the highlights of this patch:
Creatures
The Creatures team dedicated a chunk of time this update to addressing issues in all areas of the Creature system. Creature Spawners and habitats were a big area of focus, ensuring that Creatures spawn correctly, and their homes and nests react appropriately to interactions from Players. As a part of this, Creature behavior and their response to combat were revisited so that Creatures behave more reliably when waking/sleeping, attacking, or healing.
Player interactions with Creatures also received a pass, fixing several cases where sedation, scanning, and items like the Energy Leash, Camouflage Mod, and Spa Water would fail unexpectedly. Carrotlings won’t wake up so easily now and will also give a bit of a warning before entering their Enraged state. We even reminded Bog Hounds that they do, in fact, like to eat Life Fruit!
As this is one of the most complex systems in STARSEEKER, we will continue monitoring for major issues and improving all things Creatures.
Improvements
General:
Dropping an abundance of loose items in the station can cause performance issues for all players present in that instance. To address this, we’ve added a timer to remove these items after enough time has passed, 15 minutes for loose items, 30 minutes for deployable Gadgets like the Trampoline. Please be kind and don’t litter.
Developer Note: To clarify, trading stuff on the station is perfectly fine; the issue is dropping large numbers of items and letting them sit there. We’ll monitor to see if these times feel like they strike a good balance at addressing the issue and not becoming an inconvenience. We have a few other fun ideas on how we’d like to tackle this.
We’ve added more triggers to respawn players into the station if they manage to exit the intended station boundaries.
Developer Note: We’ll continue to tackle locations where players can sneak past the station walls to mess around in space and have a poke around. Even if you do manage to clip through, you should now get respawned.
To avoid confusion, we’ve updated the names of Ooze Balls and Ooze Bushes to Boingle Balls and Boingle Bushes.
Developer Note: The old name gave the impression that they might be a source of Goop, so hopefully that’s clearer now.
Seamelon Blorbs should spawn more often now in underwater biomes.
Player Customization:
All owned Palettes can now be applied to Dropships!
Developer Note: We always intended to enable this feature; it just took us a bit longer to polish the results for all Palettes.
Made improvements to how cosmetics preview and apply in the Customization Closet and the EXO Outlet.
Made improvements and implemented clearer messaging for purchases and discount displays in the EXO Outlet.
Bug Fixes
General:
Fixed a number of crashes across PC and consoles.
Developer Note: We will continue tackling the most commonly reported crashes with each update we put out. Unless there’s a crash that’s very well understood and identified by the community, we will likely keep this general line in patch notes going forward to summarize stability work.
Made various art improvements to address collision, spawning, VFX, animation, and texture issues throughout the game. Thank you, Art team!
Fixed a number of localization issues across all languages, including missing translations and corrections for clarity and grammar.
AG-18319 – Fixed an issue where service to Steam players would get interrupted during Steam’s regular scheduled maintenance on Tuesdays.
AG-17694 – Fixed an issue that could cause EXO Caches to sometimes fall through the floor of the Science Lab in the Tangle and become unreachable.
Developer Note: This issue was also occurring at the Elysium Bridge in the Wetlands. We believe this issue has also been resolved, but please let us know if it happens again at either location after this patch.
AG-18214 – Fixed an issue where the Malfunctioning Demolition Device near the Elysium Bridge would destroy itself with its own projectile’s area damage.
AG-18428 – Fixed an issue that prevented Spa Water from sedating exhausted creatures and would heal them instead.
AG-17456 – Fixed an issue where players on the Steam Deck would see a black screen after viewing the introductory cinematic for the first time.
AG-17847 – Fixed an issue where players without a Squad would get a “Departed Squad” notification when selecting the Main Menu option in Settings.
AG-17945 – Fixed an issue that was preventing vendor NPCs from displaying their vending dialogue when attempting to buy or sell to them.
AG-18186 – Fixed an issue that caused the Creature Wrangling Field Ops activity to display the incorrect text.
Expeditions:
AG-17141 – Fixed a rare but extremely frustrating issue where players would receive a Failed Expedition result even if they successfully left the planet on a Dropship, damaging their gear and losing their items.
Developer Note: We now more thoroughly examine player logs upon returning to the station to ensure successful Expedition tags are appropriately caught.
AG-16968 – Fixed an issue where players would sometimes be unable to launch a solo Expedition due to a "Waiting For Squad leader" error message.
Developer Note: This bug has been haunting us since our pre-release playtests earlier in the year. We believe we have addressed the root cause but do let us know if this is still happening to you!
AG-15680 – Fixed an occasional but very annoying issue where the player's Backpack would show only one slot for storage and one slot for mods after traveling down to the planet.
AG-18243 – Fixed an issue where Bytes, Credits and Baubles counts would show up as 0 in the player’s DAD menu while on planet.
AG-16956 – Fixed an edge case issue where a different mod become displayed as "Broken" instead of the mod that actually broke after Players rejoined an Expedition following a game crash.
AG-16947 – Made changes so that when a player is downed, disconnects the game on purpose, and then rejoins, they will remain downed instead of getting a free revive.
AG-18188 – Fixed an issue where the introductory cinematic played again right after landing on the planet.
AG-17928 – Fixed an issue that prevented players from transitioning properly out of the loading screen when traveling to the planet.
Gear & Progression:
AG-18353 – Fixed an issue where Super Water Canisters would not grant progress for Missions or Tasks with an objective to use a Water Canister.
AG-12185 – Fixed an issue that required controls input to transition from gliding into a wall to climbing when using the Glider. This should now happen automatically.
AG-17510 – Fixed an issue where the Air Cannon would not bounce back projectiles.
AG-16874 – Fixed an issue where a player's character would crouch when running out of Power while using the Camouflage Mod.
Stickers & Achievements:
AG-18425 - Fixed an issue where PS5 players hadn’t received their Trophy for completing the Tutorial during a pre-release playtest. On the next log-in, these players will receive their missing Trophy.
Developer Note: Thank you for your patience while we dug around in some platform code to isolate the issue. Going forward, the game will regularly check for missing Trophies (and Achievements) to make sure that any missed awards are granted upon the next log-in.
AG-12954 – Fixed an issue where using the respective liquid from the Multi-Liquid Hose would not count as progress for the “Super Soaker” or “Slime Sorry” Stickers.
AG-18370 – Fixed an issue where using Disposable Nozzles to apply Status Effects would not count as progress for Stickers that track applying Status Effects to Creatures.
Player Customization:
Fixed a number of UI navigation and input issues that were affecting presentation in the Customization Closet and EXO Outlet menus.
AG-17805 – Fixed an issue that would cause a player to run into another when trying to perform a synced two-player emote while down on the planet. Now you can Hug anywhere!
AG-9958 – Fixed an issue where Hats and Masks would disconnect from a player's helmet and bob around when moving around.
AG-18297 – Fixed an issue where players couldn’t directly apply a cosmetic item in the EXO Outlet menu right after purchasing it.
KNOWN ISSUES
The following are some of the most relevant issues that have been reported by the community and we’re already working to address.
AG-18313 – Sometimes the EXO Drill Rover in the Field Ops: Drilling activity can stop moving at an unintended location. In the meantime, this can be fixed by deforming the terrain underneath it with the EXO Multi-Tool.
If you want to change your Display Name, you can do so at any time. Simply open the DAD menu and in the Social tab select your username under Squad Members. This will open your Player Profile where you can find the Change Display Name option. No need to contact our Support team for this. :)
If you’re playing on the Nintendo Switch 2 and are experiencing connection issues, this tip will likely resolve that issue. Go to your Switch’s “Settings”, select “Date and Time”, and in that menu make sure “Synchronize Clock via Internet” is toggled on.

We’re fast approaching our first content update for STARSEEKER next week! This is bringing some fun content and good improvements, partly based on player feedback and bug reports. Some content is shifting around compared to what was shown in our first Roadmap, and we’ll have more news to share on that soon. In the meantime, the ESS Starseeker has a new visitor for you to meet.
Some of you may have heard rumors here and there about Felix, wondering who they are and where to find them. This enigmatic merchant comes and goes at their leisure, and this is the first week you’ll be able to find them on the station!
WHO IS FELIX?
That’s a really good question. Whether they’re a friend or a foe remains to be seen, though they have proven to be helpful to Astroneers. If you missed our first STARSEEKER comic, follow the link to have a read and take a guess at what their intentions might be.
Read the STARSEEKER Comic Issue #1 – "The Devil You Know"
THE CLOWDER EMPORIUM
When Felix is on the ESS Starseeker, they run a shop called the Clowder Emporium. They will visit the station every month for one full week, so you have this time to peruse their wares and purchase anything that strikes your fancy with your hard-earned Baubles.
The shop is impossible to miss, just look for the colorful curvy structures that have popped up out of...somewhere.
SPEND THOSE BAUBLES
If you’ve found odd-looking Baubles while on Expedition and wondered what they might be for, the answer lies with Felix. Baubles are currency you can use to purchase items only at the Clowder Emporium. Like every other currency in STARSEEKER, Baubles are earnable-only.
Gadget Blueprints
Felix will always have Blueprints available for you to purchase and be able to craft some fun Gadgets of your own. These include:
Boom Box: “Music emanation device for aiding in Astroneer social bonding.”
Party Popper: “Handheld explosive for expressing congratulatory sentiments.”
Trampoline: “Athletic enrichment device composed of highly elastic polymers.”
Fireworks: “Pyrotechnic device intended for celebratory activities.”
Rotating Stock
In addition to their standard inventory of Blueprints, Felix also brings a rotating stock of items that change every time they visit. Often, this will include rare cosmetics. It’s also an opportunity to find items you might have missed out on when they were first introduced, like cosmetics originally available during Community Challenges.
HUG EMOTE
One cuddly item you’ll find during Felix’s first week at the station is the Hug emote. Just as it sounds, you’ll be able to hold your arms out for a hug, and anyone will be able to interact with you and complete that hug. Best of all, anyone you hug gets to keep the Hug emote!
So, odds are that you won’t need to buy it, but even if you somehow miss out, it will eventually return to the Clowder Emporium.
KNOWN ISSUE
Currently, the Hug emote and other synced two-player emotes aren’t working correctly while out on an Expedition, though they do work fine on the station. The team discussed holding back this emote until the bug was fixed but ultimately decided to let y'all hug it out on the station. We have a fix coming in our first content update next week.
No time like the present! Start seeking those Baubles out on your Expeditions and trade them in for anything that catches your eye in the Clowder Emporium. And remember to Hug your nearest Astroneer!

Greetings, Astroneers! We have another patch out today to get some more bug fixes and improvements added. In addition to this, we’re granting a missing reward some players have been reporting.
MISSING BACKPACK V3
We’ve seen players reporting not getting their Backpack V3 reward by completing the “Dig Deep” Mission from Captain Jupiter, and we have a fix for that going out today alongside this patch. For all affected players, you should look at your INBOX once you log back into the game to claim this missing reward.
We’ve identified the cause of this issue and it shouldn’t be a problem moving forward.
ICYMI: TANGLE UNLOCKED!
That’s right, our first Community Challenge has concluded, and as a result new Landing Sites in the Tangle are available! This was a good test of our unlock systems and we will be making adjustments based on feedback for future Community Challenges. Thanks to everyone who submitted Task Tokens over the week and keep the feedback coming!
PATCH 1.0.8
This patch focuses on another batch of bug fixes we wanted to get out in advance of our first major update. The bulk of the bugs addressed here are in the UI system, but a few other improvements are included as well. Below is a full list of what is included:
BUG FIXES
General:
AG-18176 – Fixed one of our most commonly occurring crashes on the Xbox Series X|S.
AG-18037 – Fixed an issue that was preventing players from appropriately getting progress in Tasks and Missions that require splashing another player with a SPA Water Canister.
AG-18198 – Made corrections to where the SPA Water Nozzle and SPA Water Canisters unlock in player progression.
Developer Note: 18037 and 18198 address two very commonly asked questions in our Community Discord. Before unlocking the Tangle, these recipes weren’t shown in Printers. While this is moot now that the Tangle region is unlocked, it’s still worth issuing a fix in case this becomes relevant again in the future.
AG-18259 – Fixed a major issue where certain Stickers, like “Ship Faced,” “Biologee Whiz,” and “Plantihero” would revert their progress upon server travel.
Developer Note: This seems to have been occurring with Stickers which shared progress with another activity. We’ve hardened the system so that Sticker stats increment and retain their progress correctly even if a similar Task or Mission has been completed.
AG-17862 – Fixed an issue where certain audio tracks would continue playing after landing on Tephra.
User Interface:
AG-18212 – Palettes that cannot be equipped on your Dropship no longer show up in the Customization Closet.
Developer Note: The ability to apply any owned palette to your Dropship will be included in an upcoming update! In the meantime, we don’t want to confuse players by showing palettes that cannot actually be applied.
AG-18223 – Fixed an annoying bug where players would unintentionally purchase the “EXO Suit” in the EXO Outfitters instead of their intended suit selection.
AG-18053 – Fixed an issue where Opening and Closing the “Examine” view with certain visors equipped would cause the player to lose input in both the EXO Outfitters and the Customization Closet.
AG-18177 – Fixed an issue in the Customization Closet where the View Store button can sometimes go missing.
AG-16972 – The “Team Up” ping is now visible to players not in your Squad.
Developer Note: The goal of the “Team Up” ping is to signal that you would like to squad up with players you encounter on the ESS Starseeker or on the planet. That doesn’t work too well when only your existing squadmates can see it! There are some distance and timing limitations on the ping to prevent spam, but with this change you should now be able to clearly signal that you’re LFG!
AG-18035 – Fixed an issue where certain resources could not be pinged on the Planet View map.
AG-6239 – Fixed an issue where the UI prompt to interact with Inventory systems would linger on screen for PS5 players.
AG-18255 – Fixed an intermittent issue where opening the profile of a player you searched for by name would not work.

Great job, Astroneers! You’ve all worked together toward a common goal for the good of the whole crew and unlocked new Landing Sites on Tephra, directly in the Tangle! Crew Members are already eager for us to report as much as we can about what surprises this new corner of the planet might reveal, so it’s a great time to go on an Expedition!
THE TANGLE
This Region opens up Expeditions to a dense jungle area with a centralized plateau that’s characterized by its network of waterfalls and the small cavernous chambers that run throughout it. In addition to the hazards you might already be familiar with from the Wetlands, new creatures stalk the Region, so keep your eyes open!
Preliminary scans have revealed some landmarks that may be worth exploring, including strange-looking rocky spire formations, a steep hilltop with what appear to be fortifications and reports of Carrotling gatherings, and more wreckage from the ESS Elysium that’s of high interest to the crew. Report your findings to the Crew Members aboard the station.
NEW MISSIONS & GEAR
With a new Region to explore, the ESS Starseeker’s Crew Members are at the ready to assign you new Tasks on the Taskboard and new Missions with whole new rewards, as long as you have completed all their Missions in the Wetlands.
Driven Astroneers with luck on their side may have already found some Gliders inside of EXO Caches in the Wetlands or swam all the way to the Tangle, but now you're able to earn the Glider and its crafting Blueprints just by completing your Missions!
In addition to Gliders, new technology may be uncovered! Whether from discoveries on the planet or new Blueprints granted by Crew Members, you’ll find new gear to help with your climbing, moving more stealthily, deforming harder terrain, and new Nozzles for your EXO Multi-Tool! (like a lasso and a way to shoot Spa Water!)
Field Ops – Excavation
It seems that not all of the ESS Elysium wreckage is above ground; some of it has been lodged underground by the impact of the crash. Once you locate the wreckage, keep an eye out for the Inner Door Controls to initiate the Ops and help excavate the door consoles to valuable spoils until the timer runs out; other Astroneers may lend a helping hand. This will reward you with valuable gear and consumable items.
DOLOMITE
QUARTZ
MALACHITE
RESIN
COMPOUND
AVAILABLE RESOURCES
Each Region has different Resources; some are even unique to only one Region on the whole planet. The Tangle allows prospecting Astroneers to find deposits of Dolomite, Quartz, and Malachite, in addition to Resin and Compound, which are common to all Regions.
LOCAL CREATURE – GHOST TAIL
The Ghost Tail is a close genetic relative of the Bog Hound. However, what it lacks in the bulk of its evolutionary cousin, the Ghost Tail makes up for in its stealth. This creature’s impeccable camouflage allows it to become nearly invisible so that it may strike ferociously and without warning.
Ghost Tails are lethal killers and should be avoided at all costs.
LOCAL CREATURE – SPEWDER
The Spewder is a persistent insectoid species known for its proclivity to spew Goop projectiles on anything and everything.
This creature has been observer displaying a “celebratory dance” when it covers a target in its Goopy disgorgements.
This is only a preliminary report of what can be found within the Tangle. There’s sure to still be plenty more to discover, so gear up and venture forth! Feel the Force!

Hello, Astroneers! We hope you’ve been having fun with STARSEEKER over the weekend. We’ve got a new Patch with some performance and stability fixes we wanted to get quickly into the game, and also some answers to share for some recent community questions.
Over the weekend, Creative Director Adam also shared another update on behalf of the team that’s worth a read, if you haven’t seen it yet.
CROSS-PROGRESSION WHEN OUT OF PARITY
In our previous Patch Notes, we called out that the Patch will take a bit longer to go through certification on Nintendo, leaving the system temporarily out of version parity. We shared a warning about issues that may be incurred by playing on the Switch 2 if you’ve linked other platform accounts and wanted to explain that a little better.
What does “Out of Parity” mean?
This happens when one platform is on a version number different from other platforms. It’s often caused by taking longer for a Patch to be certified by the platform.
Can I still play on a platform that’s “Out of Parity”?
Yes! You should have nothing to be concerned about; you just won’t be able to play with players on other platforms during this time. The only exception is the following question.
What happens if I have Cross-Progression enabled and I play on an “Out of Parity” platform?
If you have linked your platform accounts to enable Cross-Progression across platforms, and one platform is out of parity, we recommend playing only on the platform that is up to date during this time. We don’t expect any permanent harm to your account or your character progression if you do otherwise, but you may encounter some weirdness in your Mission and Tasks progress during this time. This should return to normal once parity is restored.
What happens to cosmetics and other items I earn while I play on an “Out of Parity” platform?
Those will all be saved as normal and be available across platforms without issues. The only instance where something is saved to only one platform is when buying a Supporter Pack, due to platform limitations.
THE ENGINEERING PACK
We’ve seen some questions about why the "Miner Miracle" Sticker is added to your Stickerbook once you purchase the Engineering Pack. This is because the Palette in this Supporter Pack has three different versions that are intended to be unlocked as you make progress in this Sticker. The more resources you mine, the more progress you would make toward unlocking the "Dirtier Work" Palette, and ultimately the "Dirtiest Work" Palette.
Given the confusion we’ve seen around how this works, we’ve decided to instead simply grant all three Palettes immediately to anyone who has purchased this Pack or buys it in the future. The "Miner Miracle" Sticker will remain, but no rewards will be tied to it anymore. We think this is a fun mechanic, but we missed the mark on having the proper UX to explain the sticker-based gameplay. This change will go into effect today.
We will go back to the drawing board to rethink the idea of progressive Palettes, and you may see this again in the future as part of a Community Challenge.
TANGLE COMMUNITY CHALLENGE
And in case you missed it, tomorrow marks the start of our first Community Challenge! Starting Tuesday, June 16th at 8AM PST, players will be able to pitch in together toward completing this challenge and unlock a new Region, the Tangle! Keep an eye on the big screen in front of the Flux Drive at the center of the station for updates!
PATCH 1.0.7
We have a small but important patch for you today. On Friday, we issued a partial fix to a “memory leak” that was occurring when players interacted with the DAD and Stash UI systems. This patch delivers a fuller fix for this issue and should be a noticeable performance improvement on all platforms. Below is a full list of what is included:
Nintendo Delay: The Nintendo Switch 2 version of the game will continue to be out of version parity until Patch 1.0.7 is released on the platform. The latest news we've received tells us that we should expect this to go through around the middle of this week. We’ll share messaging on our social channels once the update is going live.
Cross-Progression Warning: If you play on the Switch 2 and have more than one Platform linked for cross-progression, then we recommend playing only on the platform with the latest version of the game available. Avoid playing on the Switch 2 only in this case, until the latest patch has released on Nintendo.
Cross-Play Warning: While the Switch 2 version is mismatched to other platforms, multiplayer won’t work across platforms to the Switch 2.
BUG FIXES
AG-18028 – Implemented a fuller fix for the UI memory leak that could occur when interacting with DAD and Stash UI systems.
AG-18027 – Fixed an issue that was showing incorrect messaging on the launch screen when the game is in planned maintenance mode.
AG-18206 - Fixed an issue where players were getting stuck in the game’s startup flow when rejoining after a server crash.

STARSEEKER has been in your hands for a couple of days now, and we have spent a lot of that time reading and hearing from so many of you. The reviews, the threads, the videos, the comments under the videos, Discord, everything. A launch is the moment you find out which parts of what you built landed the way you meant them to and which parts didn’t. Some of what we have heard is hard, and some of it is fair, and the fair parts are the ones I want to talk about here.
This is not a full accounting of everything. It is the handful of things that came up the most, where I think you deserve a straight answer from us rather than silence or a defensive crouch.
The single-player tag
This is the one I want to lead with, because it is the one where some of you spent money on an impression we gave you and then took back.
At launch, STARSEEKER carried a Single Player/Solo tag, and we pulled it about two hours in. You can absolutely play STARSEEKER on your own, and we wanted solo players to know they were welcome. But the game is built as a solo-but-shared experience, and "Single Player" set the wrong expectation for what that feels like.
The part we got wrong most is that we pulled the tag quietly, with no note. A silent change to something you based a purchase on is a bad way to handle it no matter the reason, and that is on us. Intent is not the point when someone feels misled, and I am sorry to the players who do.
So here is what solo actually looks like. There is no offline, disconnected STARSEEKER. You can play without friends or squadmates, queue for an Expedition and go it alone, but there will always be other players around you. The station and the planets are built to foster community and camaraderie as you play, which means STARSEEKER will always be a connected, online experience. There is a quote from another blog I wrote that is worth sharing here:
"When people ask why I wanted this to be the next game from System Era, this is what I tell them: I wanted us to make a video game that gives our team and our players something to be a part of together. One built on ethical sustainability for the people making it. One that fosters community and camaraderie among the people playing it. One that is deliberately built to demonstrate what can happen when people act selflessly and lead with generosity. Our next game had to be STARSEEKER for any of that to be possible."
I understand that means STARSEEKER isn't for everyone. If you bought it thinking it was an offline single-player experience, I'm sorry, and if you're able to, please refund it so you haven't spent money on something you didn't want. That was never our intention, and we'll see you back in Astroneer or in a future game from System Era.
On “micro-transactions” and “MTX”
We said STARSEEKER would have no microtransactions. We then put a cosmetic supporter pack in an in-game store on launch day. To some of you, those two things contradict each other, and I understand why.
When we said, “no MTX”, we meant something specific, and we assumed the word carried that meaning to everyone. It doesn’t. For a lot of players “MTX” just means “a thing in this game I can pay additional money for,” and by that definition a supporter pack qualifies, full stop. We also called out the existence of supporter packs ahead of launch because we wanted to be transparent about them. Saying, “no microtransactions” in one breath and “here comes a supporter pack” in another landed as contradictory rather than transparent.
So let me skip the word and describe the actual thing: STARSEEKER’s supporter pack (and any future supporter packs) are cosmetic only. They are sold once at a fixed price, on the platform store. There is no premium currency, no loot boxes, battle passes, no recurring spend, and nothing that affects play gated behind a purchase. The items offer new things to wear or extend the look of suits you already earn by playing the game normally. That is the whole model. To us, that is the standard we are holding ourselves to. "No MTX" was us saying we’d never have any monetization model where small, individually priced in-game cosmetic things are purchased for a premium currency that has a direct impact on the game’s economy, progression, and game play.
We see where that’s gone wrong and going forward will speak to our model plainly with a better understanding of how this is seen and felt by other players.
This isn’t ASTRONEER 2
A lot of you came in hoping for ASTRONEER 2, and I get the disappointment when that is not what you found.
STARSEEKER is its own game, set in the same universe, built around an entirely different core idea. We have been saying that for a while, but a launch is louder than any interview, social media post, or upload to YouTube, and I would rather say it once more clearly than assume it landed. ASTRONEER is still in active development with an engaged community of players, and STARSEEKER is not a replacement for it. STARSEEKER is a different thing we wanted to create. Whether it is for you is a fair question to ask, and the game itself is the best answer I can offer.
Server issues
Some of you couldn’t get in, or got dropped on the first day just hours after launch. That really sucks. That is the worst possible time for it to happen, when are you excited and ready to play, and we know it.
We’ve since addressed the issue and should not see that particular problem happen again. In the meantime, anyone who tried to or successful were able to play in the first day of the game being live should have the following items waiting for them in their STARSEEKER inbox:
300 Credits (normally earnable and used on cosmetic unlocks)
500 Bytes (normally earnable and used on Printing new items)
Power Mod V1
Stamina Mod V1
I know this doesn’t take back the time you lost waiting on us to solve the issues, so consider a token of our appreciation for your patience while we got that sorted. If you’re someone who left a review regarding this issue, if it’s fixed for you and you’re enjoying the game, it would mean a lot for you to consider updating your review letting folks know you’re able to play STARSEEKER.
Where this leaves us
I want to be clear about what we are and are not changing, because “we hear you” is worth nothing if it's vague.
What we are fixing is how we handle this. The silent tag changes, the confusion around how we describe the business model, and the server stability. Those are on us, and we’re actively addressing them now.
What is not changing is the game we set out to make. STARSEEKER is a connected, online, shared experience, and the model is what it is: buy the game once with completely optional cosmetic supporter packs, nothing that touches play. We are not turning it into an offline game, and STARSEEKER is not Astroneer 2. I want to be honest about that rather than make promises we can’t keep just to win people back. If it isn’t the game you were looking for, I understand completely, and hope we make something down the road that is.
Thank you to everyone who took the time to write their feelings on the game, positive, constructive, or otherwise. We’ve read it all. Keep it coming. We are listening, and we are just getting started.

STARSEEKER: Astroneer Expeditions is out now and it’s been exhilarating to see so many Astroneers jumping into their own Expeditions! As can happen with new game launches releasing simultaneously across multiple platforms, we experienced some extended server downtime on launch day, but we’ve had servers back up and seem to addressed those initial troubles.
We apologize for the inconvenience and really appreciate everyone's patience while we smoothed out the launch day bumps.
To help make up for that lost time, we have sent a special gift to everyone’s in-game INBOX with the following items:
300 Credits
500 Bytes
Power Mod V1
Stamina Mod V1
This bundle of items will be granted to anyone who logs into the game before Friday, June 12th, at Midnight PST.
We hope you continue to enjoy playing STARSEEKER and we look forward to sharing more of what we have prepared for future updates.
TANGLE COMMUNITY CHALLENGE
Many of our Beta playtest players have been asking when the Tangle Community Challenge will return, and the answer is... Tuesday, June 16th at 8AM PST!
For new players who are just jumping into STARSEEKER, Community Challenges are just what they sound like. Astroneers aboard the ESS Starseeker must all work together toward contributing the Challenge’s requested items in order to unlock a new Region. In this case, that’s the Tangle!
When a new Region unlocks, the whole community gains access to new Missions, new craftable items, and new adventures! You’ll learn more about it as we approach its release.
PATCH 1.0.6
For our first post-launch patch, we focused on addressing some of our most common crashes and connection issues, as well as a couple of places we saw performance dips in the game. This patch also includes a handful of gameplay updates, bug fixes, and even a few bits of polish!
Nintendo Delay: Patch 1.0.6 will be delayed for the Nintendo Switch 2, instead, this platform will be updated to Patch 1.0.5. We’ll share messaging on our social channels once the update has passed certification and is going live.
Steam Store Tags: Shortly after launch, we decided we should remove the “Single Player” tag from the game since it was misleading players on what we meant. While you’re able to queue alone for Expeditions and are never forced to join a Squad of other players, you do need to play online and other players will always be around you.
BALANCE CHANGES
AG-18011 – The objective for JAM-BX's Mission 'Let's Get Clinical' no longer requests an item before its crafting Blueprint has been unlocked.
Developer Note: While most players were getting through this Mission by stumbling upon the required item in caches, the intended experience is that players are able to craft an item before it becomes required for Mission progress. Except for Ensign Muriel’s Missions. She’s just eccentric.
IMPROVEMENTS
AG-17900 – To assist with readability, Crew Member Mission text now stays on screen longer.
AG-18086 – To assist with wayfinding, the type and size of waypoint icons have been adjusted in the Tutorial for the Depot and the Landing Zone.
BUG FIXES
Addressed our most common GPU start up crash.
Added a number of fixes for observed server crashes.
Fixed a common source of performance decline encountered during Expeditions.
Fixed a common source of performance decline on the ESS Starseeker, when rendering the player’s avatar on the station signs.
Fixed an issue that showed unreleased cosmetic items in the Customizer. Nothing to see here, move along.
AG-15001 – Made improvements to address an issue where players can appear invisible to their squadmates after landing on Tephra.
Developer Note: This bug has been harder for us to pin down, and we’ve issued a number of fixes for it over the course of Beta testing. We may need to continue deploying fixes until we fully resolve the problem.
AG-4153 – Fixed an issue where synced emotes were not properly showing across different clients.
AG-11707 – Added missing Crew Member idle animations.
AG-17894 – Fixed an issue that could allow players to move around while in a downed state after opening Planet View.
AG-18028 – Made improvements to address a UI memory leak. Additional fixes will come in future patches, but this should reduce the occurrence.
AG-17906 – Fixed an issue that could cause cinematics to stretch on ultrawide monitors. They are now properly locked to a 16:9 ratio. No more Widestroneers.
AG-18144 – Fixed an issue that was preventing all three Palettes included in the Engineering Pack from appearing in the in-game EXO Outlet preview.
PATCH 1.0.5
Since there will be a delay for getting Patch 1.0.6 certified by Nintendo, today’s patch will bring the Switch 2 version of the game to version 1.0.5 instead, with the following changes. We’ll share messaging on our social channels once the update has passed certification and is going live.
BALANCE CHANGES
AG-17880 – Moved the Backpack V3 reward out of the Wetlands Mission chain to later in the player progression.
BUG FIXES
AG-16156 – Fixed the ‘Fit Check’ Sticker notification so it no longer triggers with every completed Expedition.
AG-15094 – Fixed an issue affecting the progress bar on “Press and Hold” actions on the Nintendo Switch 2.
AG-17966 – Fixed an error that would not properly track ownership of the Engineering Pack cosmetics across different platforms.

STARSEEKER: Astroneer Expeditions is now available on Steam , the Xbox for PC App, Xbox Series X|S , PlayStation 5 , and Nintendo Switch 2 in Early Access! We’re both incredibly excited and terrified... Terrixcited! No, that doesn't work, but you get the point. If you’re jumping
If you’re jumping into the game for the first time, then make sure to check out our New Cadet Primer so you start off on the right foot. And we still have a lot of fun stuff going on to help celebrate the launch! Check this guide so you don't miss out on anything!
A RETROSPECTIVE ON HOW WE GOT HERE
System Era’s Creative Director, Adam Bromell, has been dreaming about bringing STARSEEKER to life for around seven years now, and the time has finally come! What started as his passion project is now out in the world for everyone to enjoy. To commemorate the launch, he shared in a new blog how we got to where we are today, bringing this game into reality.
STARSEEKER is launching in Early Access. This means there’s still a lot more to come to the game, and that will be in no small part thanks to our ongoing communication with our community. To quote Adam:
“What you’ll find on day one is the starting shape of the game. What the launch on June 11, 2026 represents is the beginning of the conversation we have been wanting to have with you for a long, long time. The game will grow. It will adapt. The people who come in on day one are participants in what comes next, not an audience for a finished thing. We have been building toward this moment since 2019. Now we get to find out what it becomes.”
The following are some of the most common issues that have been identified in the game and are being targeted for fixes in an upcoming patch.
Occasional server crashes may occur, and we are working to address them as we find them.
Developer Note: Reconnect to Expedition when prompted. If reconnecting doesn’t work and the game pushes you back to the Start menu, continue through the menu options to reload into station.
Performance stutters have been observed during Expeditions. We will continue working on addressing them as we find them.
The rendering of player avatars on the station signs of the ESS Starseeker can cause performance stutters.
AG-15001 – There’s a chance that going on an Expedition can result in not being able to see your Squadmates, despite being on the same Expedition as you. Restarting an Expedition has a chance of not triggering this issue.
AG-16156 – The ‘Fit Check’ Sticker notification is mistakenly triggering with every completed Expedition.
AG-15094 – The progress bar on “Press and Hold” actions on the Nintendo Switch 2 can appear to stagger, but this is only a visual issue, continue to press and hold as normal.
AG-17966 – The Engineering Pack can mistakenly be labeled as owned across different platforms despite only owning the cosmetics on one platform.
AG-17900 – Crew Member Mission text can disappear too quickly to be read.
AG-18086 – The type and size of waypoint icons for the Depot and the Landing Zone in the Tutorial appear smaller than desired.
AG-4153 – Synced emotes sometimes don’t show properly across different clients.
AG-17906 – Cinematics are stretched wide on ultrawide monitors rather than have a fixed aspect ratio.

Greetings, cadet! If you’re reading this, then it means you must be a new recruit of the ESS Starseeker. This vessel is a state-of-the-art space station with advanced space travel capabilities created by EXO Dynamics and entrusted to the heroic Action Science team of the Fronteer Force.
Your job is to serve as the boots on the ground for the station’s planetary Expeditions, forwarding the goals of the crew's mission, so let’s run you through the basics.
JUMPING RIGHT IN
All Explorer Class Astroneers must undergo basic training, even if it's just a refresher. A standard athletics course, scanning new discoveries, harvesting resources with your trusty EXO Multi-Tool, you know, the basics. I trust you’ll get through it with no trouble; you’re an Astroneer, after all!
After basic training, you'll start your new life aboard the ESS Starseeker! Now, the vast size of the station may be overwhelming at first, but you should become acquainted with it in no time. Ensign Muriel will be waiting for you nearby to help bring you up to speed on what you’ve missed.
MISSIONS AND TASKS
Sure, you just got here, but I know you must be itching to go on an Expedition! However, before you go, you’ll want to make a visit to the various Crew Members to accept new Missions and check the Task Board for new Tasks you can fulfill while you’re planetside.
Missions are generally assigned by Crew Members and will help you build Reputation with them. Tasks are repeatable jobs you can take that earn you additional Reputation and help fulfill the many needs of the space station. Both will give you helpful rewards upon completion.
EXPEDITION TIME!
Once you’re ready to deploy on an Expedition, head toward the giant planetary hologram and use a Launch Terminal to prepare for launch. You can choose to venture out by yourself, but it never hurts to have a Squad of other Astroneers watching your back.
Exploration
Whether it’s the wreckage of an old EXO Dynamics crash or a mysterious tunnel filled with subterranean life, there are always new discoveries to be made.
Gathering Resources
Planets are teeming with valuable resources and salvage to claim, good for crafting new gear. Use the Scan Pulse and gather what you can with your EXO Multi-Tool.
Creatures & Hazards
There’s plenty of flora and fauna to encounter on your Expeditions, both harmless and quite dangerous. Be ready to sedate or neutralize any troublesome creatures.
Field Ops
Make sure to also keep an eye out for Field Ops, special objectives that other Astroneers on the planet can help with and work together for tougher-to-get rewards.
There’s plenty to do on the planet and you only have 30 minutes of oxygen available before you need to return to the station, so don’t be afraid to plan for multiple Expeditions to fulfill your goals. Check your Missions and Tasks on your DAD (Digital Assistant Device) and prioritize resources to gather, discoveries to scan, or creatures to encounter.
ENDING AN EXPEDITION
There’s something to be said about just jumping in without a plan and seeing what you stumble upon (something especially fun with other Astroneer friends), but you’ll get the most out of an Expedition by completing as many Missions and Tasks as possible.
Once the display on the back of your backpack is near empty, your oxygen is starting to run out. Open the Planetary View map by hitting Up on your controller’s directional pad or the M key on your keyboard to find the nearest Landing Site and summon your Dropship to return to the Starseeker.
BUILDING REPUTATION
When you return to the station, you’ll earn Reputation, Credits, and any other rewards based on your completed Tasks and newly earned Stickers. You’ll also see your earned Bytes based on how much you’ve scanned.
Lost Gear?
It’s possible some of your gear may be lost upon return, as it might have been a Disposable Nozzle (good for one Expedition), or it got damaged if you were downed. It's may still be worth holding on to them since you can repair them for cheaper once you unlock their Blueprint.
Your Stickerbook
Check your DAD and admire your collection of Stickers; find which ones to aim for next. Each commemorates an accomplishment and has its own rewards.
Your accomplishments will go a long way toward building Reputation with Crew Members, such as Captain Jupiter, Science Officer Jessandra, and JAM-BX. Completing their Missions will earn you more rewards and unlock insights about what’s going on with the ESS Starseeker and the overall mission.
REAPING THE REWARDS
You can earn Bytes, Credits, and gather a good number of Resources on a successful Expedition, all of which you can use to further improve your loadout for your next Expedition or maybe unlock snazzy new cosmetics. All of these currencies and cosmetics are earnable-only; there are no monetary shortcuts.
Speak to the Crew Members
Make sure to turn in your completed Missions and collect your Reputation rewards. You can also sell them items you gathered for Bytes or more resources.
Check the Printer (Spend your Bytes)
On either side of the Launch Terminals, you’ll find Printers next to Stashes and Refiners. Check the available Blueprints and set your new loadout goals.
Visit the EXO Outlet (Spend your Credits)
Astroneers love expressing themselves, and no doubt you’re no different! Check the EXO Outlet vending stations and try on a new look in the Customizer.
Contribute to Community Challenges (when Active)
Keep an eye on active Community Challenges and look for requested items. Simply deposit them at the Community Challenge Depots by the Task Board consoles.
Feel free to also join in on the shenanigans of other fellow Astroneers. The Starseeker is the heart of our crew and there’s usually someone making their own fun nearby.
ONBOARDING COMPLETE
And with all that, you’re now ready to chart your future Expeditions! Go and make us proud! Oh, and don’t forget to pack some Medi-Mash and check in with your DAD.
We’ve got plenty of surprises and fun goodies for you to seek out this week! But let’s start by sharing the exact release time we’re targeting, so you can mark it on your calendars. STARSEEKER RELEASE TIME STARSEEKER is releasing June 11th at 10 AM, Pacific Time. You can use a ti

STARSEEKER is only a couple of weeks away from launching in Early Access, so in order to help us test the game’s servers we’re doing one final playtest! Starting Friday, June 5th, at 8:00 AM PT, the STARSEEKER Network Test will be open to all players looking to try it out for free! If you like what you see, don't forget to wishlist the game!

HOW TO PARTICIPATE
No registration is needed this time, simply look for the “STARSEEKER: Astroneer Expeditions [Network Test]” App on the digital store of your platform of choice: Steam, PlayStation Store, Microsoft Store, and Nintendo eShop. You can install it as soon as the playtest begins, and then you’re all set to start playing!
What is a Network Test?
As the name suggests, the main goal of this playtest is to test how far we can push our servers so we can work out any issues ahead of the launch on June 11th. The more people playing the game, the better! Since this is the primary focus, this playtest will be significantly shorter than past playtests, lasting only two days and ending on Sunday, June 7th, at 8:00 AM PT.
And just like with the Open Beta, this playtest represents a slice of the full game. This means that much of the narrative, events, progression, items, and available planet Regions will be held back, so we don’t spoil all the fun for the game’s proper launch.
Note: Even though we’re very close to launch, this is still just a preview of the game, so things might still change between what you see during the playtest and launch day.
LAST CHANCE FOR THE RETRO SUIT!
If you missed the Open Beta, then here’s one last chance to earn this unique STARSEEKER suit! We’re offering the Retro Suit as a show of our appreciation for all playtesters helping put our game through its paces and who shared valuable feedback.
Even if you have participated in previous playtests, we still recommend participating in the Network Test to ensure we have validated your player data. Participating in the playtest will allow us to grant the Retro Suit directly into your game account, which will carry over into the Early Access release on June 11th.
You’re eligible to receive this suit if you participate in any STARSEEKER playtest, including:
The Network Test
The Open Beta
Previous Closed Playtests
TWITCH DROPS RETURN
We’re also bringing back our Twitch Drops rewards! This is not only another chance to earn the Palette we had available last time but also complete the set with a new Visor and a regal Hat (also known as a crown)!
Keep an eye out for Content Creators playing the game and streaming on Twitch during the playtest. Twitch Drops will be enabled until two weeks after launch!
Twitch Drops Start Time: Friday, June 5th, at 8AM PT
Twitch Drops End Time: Thursday, June 25th, at 8AM PT
