TeamSnowball, the production company, conducted a one-on-one interview with prof. MoonBillion, the general production manager, to help users answer their questions.
Q: First of all, could you introduce yourself?
A: We're the predecessor, or should I say predecessor. I was the director of Project Glass at TeamSnowball, a multinational team. I'm still
production, planning, and AD for Glass 2. My old nickname was 月天先生, now Prof. MoonBillion.
Q: The news of Glass 2, the sequel to Glass, has many players excited. From the brief information released, it seems that the game will be very large. In particular, the scenario of more than 100,000 characters stands out, does this mean that it is a story-oriented game?
A: When we made the previous game, Glass, the overall worldview of the glass world was established.
However, since the game concept of Glass was a very casual game, we focused on the smallest unit of the world, the story of each character, rather than the development based on the world. However, in Glass 2, we wanted to introduce users to the world of Glass in earnest. Why the world of Glass came to be. We wanted to increase the understanding and immersion of the game by showing the stories of each of the female heroines trapped in the glass world and their intertwined stories. Naturally, the amount of scenarios increased, and the production cost became very high.
Q: I understood this to mean that you wanted to tell a story based on the world of the Glass World. Is this the same reason why you abandoned the first-person perspective of the first movie and tried a third-person perspective with a protagonist named Aaron?
A: The hedonist class, which is responsible for rescuing the Glass Maiden who is trapped in a glass cage, was planned from the beginning, but in the previous game, Glass, we tried to leave this role to the user. However, in order to convey the scenario of the worldview of Glass 2, which is the production direction of Glass 2, we thought that a character with a pre-established image of a hedonist and an erotic was necessary rather than a colorless and odorless protagonist.
This is something that our Chinese writer MIGUO-kun has been advocating for a long time. Aaron, who appears in this role, has already established stats and personality. His stats and personality are already established. Players will be able to make him behave in their own way with a bit of optional progression.
Q: The voice actors involved in the production seem to have impressive credentials.
A: We have a lot of scenarios, and the dialog between characters makes up over 90% of it. For the basic premise of telling the story, full voice was not an option, but a necessity. Full voice is very expensive, but we wanted to use proven voice actors to elevate Glass 2 to a higher level. HONEY BOMB, a company we've worked with for many years, was a great help. The voice recording process went smoothly without any hiccups or issues, and we were very pleased with the results.
Q: I'm sure there will be different gameplay to meet the female heroines and glass maidens, but has the gameplay changed at all?
A: It can be said that we tried to make a big change in the gameplay. We chose to use solitaire gameplay, an element that hasn't been done before in similar genres. Most of the people who make games of this type try to avoid putting a lot of stress on the user, and this has become a common perception among game developers in this genre. In the early planning stages of Glass 2, this concern was raised and casual huddle games such as picture matching and three-match puzzles were considered, but in the end, Snowball chose solitaire. What we were most concerned about was the fusion of puzzle games with the essentials of H-games, and consideration for users who have never played this type of game before.We also paid a lot of attention to the H play aspect, whereas in the previous game you could only watch the heroine's desires, this time you can actively participate in them, (Many thanks to the development team for their hard work) and "that element" that many users wanted was also included! Q: This is the most important question. How faithful were you to your original role?
A: Thank you for your question. We spent the most development time with the illustrators who worked on the previous game, Glass, as well as new illustrators. Top-notch animators brought it to life. It's probably fair to say that we put the most effort into it since it's a game of its genre. For Glass 2, we used the best animators and directors, and this time we had a specialist who was only responsible for conceiving and directing the scenes. He has been immersed in the genre for more than 40 years and provided us with many nods and ideas, which I think helped us achieve a higher level of quality.(This is the guy who wrote this interview, the silly guy who says there's no one more knowledgeable than him when it comes to sex positions. But he was so helpful that I'm going to affectionately refer to him as RSM - Real Sex Machine.)
Q: What would you say to the many users who are looking forward to Glass 2?
A: With our own IP, we've made a game that people say was a masterpiece. I want to make a game that is praised by users. We started making this game with the idea that it was a great game. That's not to say that we didn't put our heart into the previous game, but the environment to make the game was slightly better than then, such as production costs and development period.
