🩸 Improved Player Hit Feedback - Taking damage now feels much more impactful! Player hits now include blood spurts, new hit sound effects, and a blinking health bar, making it easier to instantly recognize when you've taken damage during chaotic battles.
⭐ Experience Bar Feedback - Your experience bar now blinks whenever you gain XP, giving you clearer visual feedback as you fight enemies and progress toward your next level.
👹 Boss Damage Feedback - Boss health bars now blink when bosses take damage, making your attacks easier to track and giving boss fights more satisfying visual feedback.
💀 Updated Boss Intros - Boss encounters now feature updated introductions with new text overlays, giving each encounter a little more impact before the battle begins.

Here’s what’s new:
🎮 Controller Update - Remapped the controller buttons to make game play feel smoother, easier, and more enjoyable for players. The new layout should feel more natural in combat and help make the overall experience in Monster Portal more comfortable to play. ⚔️🔥✨
🎮 Controller Rumble - Controllers now support rumble effects, adding extra feedback and immersion to game play.

It was an awesome launch and I continue to make the game even better with more feedback! Here are some updates below, and I am hoping to implement steam leader-boards soon so that it can be more competitive with other players since this is a solo player game.

Game mechanics update!

Game now pauses when pressing [TAB] so you can take the time arranging your gems and reading about their spells/abilities, not having to worry about the chaos going on around you.
Updated the tutorial and GUI to help inform the player more on the mechanics of the game.
Added some new features to hopefully help the player understand how to bring out the bosses.
Further balanced monsters.
Added some lighting effects

Zoomed the camera out. Will help with three things: Gives player more vision of map to help orient themselves and see things to access. Adds more monsters on screen to add more chaos. There is now more room for GUI elements to make the screen feel less cluttered. ------ Fixed obj

Fixed the pressing "e" crash while in chaos totem.
Updated most font for legibility.
Updated the tutorial.
Made the hero starting AOE lighting bigger to start.
Made first level easier to access boss hint to guide players.

Added option for random starting gems so now you can play the game with the main three characters and different starting gems.
Made it so you run into less things and get stuck less.
Updated the gem store.
Chaos totem spawns more often on each level.
Chaos totem now displays 12 options as well as being mandatory. Also added new options.
Updated loot boss attacks.
Updated mage attack on 2nd level.
Added more sound effects.
Updated enemy AI.
Updated tutorial at the beginning of game.
Changed 2nd level boss attacks and added lighting effects to aoe attacks.
Added lighting effects to level 3 Minions.
I am excited for the release on March 5th and will continue to update the game or fix things that people run into! Looking forward to it!

I had debated this for awhile and finally decided to pull the trigger on it. There are many major updates and bug fixes to the game as well as 7 new gems!! Also changed a game mechanic where passive slot gems can refresh when not in active slots so you can real-time flip back and for to fully utilize your spells! It is a fun mechanic that engages more gems and is skill based in the heat of battle to know which spells you need and when.
Updates:

Added 7 new unique gems that can only drop from monsters/bosses/or paths
Created new particle effects for the new gems as well as implemented them into level up choices (can't buy in the store)
Made it so gems new can refresh while in passive slots
Added text below gems when on the ground to reference what they do
Fixed Greedy and Death Eater path bugs
Updated 2nd level with how boss comes out
Fixed bug with 1st level boss
Updated concept art in game and on steam store
New trailer on steam store
Updated menu screens
Capped how many monsters can spawn in a room at a time to help with lag issues
Balanced final boss and added final monster portal to also defeat with final boss fight
I am working to fully release the game in September tentatively. Either way I will continue to work on it and make it better. I appreciate all reviews and feedback! Thank you!

I have been working a lot on the overall mechanics of the game!
~ NEW ~

You now receive 3 options when you level that you can choose to upgrade. They range from gem upgrades for every gem, leveling aspects of your given character (like speed, sprint duration, health, health regeneration, etc), or receiving 1 random gem!
This really adds a lot of dynamic game-play and increases the depth of your character depending on the base path you take when choosing your character before each game!
There is new music, updated particle effects, and much more!
Monsters now slightly increase as you level to balance the game and the base speed of everything has increased.
I have updated the main splash screen and character select screen as well.
There are also numerous bug fixes and code optimizations!
Please feel free to play and let me know what you think! Any bug fixes you report or ideas you have would be great to hear! It has been fun continuing the work on this game and I am not done yet!
