ANY CHART, ANY KEY COUNT
Your library stops being a key count.

THE CARD sits in OTHERS. Each click moves it on: off, 4 Keys, 5 Keys, 6 Keys, 7 Keys, 3 Keys. The dots under the multiplier say where you are.
THE CONVERSION follows the genre's shared standard, extended. The mod sets the target column count and the converter rebuilds the chart from it. Compressing anchors a lane. Expanding spreads it over a band, so a 4K chart uses all seven columns.
THE SAME CHART ALWAYS CONVERTS THE SAME WAY. The dice are seeded from the chart, so the server rebuilds what you played and prices it.
RANKED FROM DAY ONE. Score x0.90 when the conversion applies, pp off the difficulty measured after converting, and a board for the keys you played.
THE STARS FOLLOW into song selection, the pause screen and the results. The results say these scores can be reset if the conversion is updated.
ON A CHART THAT ALREADY HAS THOSE KEYS the card does nothing. No conversion, no x0.90, no token.
TESTED ON THE WHOLE LIBRARY: 4,078 charts, 16,371 conversions, 157 seconds. No note left the field and no chart converted into two different things.
WHAT A CHART PAYS, BEFORE YOU PLAY IT
The number you actually pick a chart by.

THE CARD IN SONG SELECTION gets a second row: ~~length, combo and creator~~ ⇒ plus Performance, Notes and BPM, with the pp in the site's accent.
IT FOLLOWS YOUR MODS, like the ratings on the carousel. 104 with nothing on, 109 with Hidden, 0 with Auto.
THE DOWNLOADS HOVER: ~~"1.69 · 2:48" next to a label that only said Difficulty~~ ⇒ one row per figure, each beside its own label, pp included. An unpriced chart shows one row fewer instead of a zero.
SORT THE DOWNLOAD BROWSER BY WHAT A MAP PAYS. Sets order by the ceiling of their best chart. It sits beside Difficulty.

Two screens, one catalogue, same questions.

THE FILTER ROW IS THE SITE'S ROW, control for control and in the same order: Show only, Sort by, Mode, Difficulty, Tags, Played, Favourites, Hidden. Downloaded goes last, since the site has no Songs folder.
SORT BY gets an arrow. The quietest sets, the easiest charts and the oldest uploads can reach the first page.
THE DIFFICULTY SLIDER: ~~an empty readout~~ ⇒ it says which difficulties it covers, and "and up" when a handle sits on the ceiling.
TWO KINDS OF LENGTH. A set has both: the track and the chart. Counting Stars is 2:51 of audio over a 2:48 chart.
THE TABS: ~~TOP RATED came back sorted by views, NEWEST MAPS by likes~~ ⇒ each tab sorts by its label.
THE SKIN EDITOR
One word per idea, and everything folds
138 controls, and you can shut the ones you are not using.

OPACITY, COLOUR, SCALE, OVERRIDE: ~~ALPHA here, TINT there, SIZE elsewhere~~ ⇒ one word per idea everywhere. The search still answers to the old names.
EVERY LABEL FOLDS, not just the sections. A thin line runs down the rows each one holds, so you can see where a subsection ends.
EVERY GROUP LISTS IN THE SAME ORDER: switch, scale, opacity, colour, textures, then the rest.
A ROW YOU CHANGED SAYS SO. It gets a faint wash, an accent rail and a reset icon after its title. One click puts it back, as one undo step.
PICK A TEXTURE BY ITS PICTURE, not by its filename.
A FOLD IS A ROW: ~~a filled plate with its chevron on the left~~ ⇒ the same shape as the rows it holds, chevron in the column every heading folds from.
Choose a beatmap, by set
Four thousand loose rows become eight hundred lines with cover art.

THE PICKER: ~~one row per difficulty, stopping at 200 with "narrow the search"~~ ⇒ one line per set with its cover, its creator and how many difficulties it holds. The whole library fits.
IT OPENS ON WHAT IS PLAYING, marked in pink. A search opens every set it matches and hides the difficulties that do not.
The glow up a held lane
It used to be the pressed colour at a fixed strength.

LANE GLOW is its own group under RECEPTOR, in every rhythm and melody lane and in both family blocks: SHOWN, COLOUR and OPACITY.
IT FOLLOWS UNTIL YOU MOVE IT. It shows the pressed colour and the game's own strength, and the reset icon puts either back to following.
One skin, two cameras
A 2D look and a 3D look, edited on their own.

SEPARATE 2D AND 3D is one switch under CAMERA. Off, a skin is one look for both views, which is how every skin behaves today. On, everything visual splits in two and the camera button picks what you see and what you edit. Name, tags and sounds stay shared.
THE CENTRAL NOTE gets the three things authors reach for first: ~~a SCALE whose Y changed nothing on screen~~ ⇒ THICKNESS, its own OPACITY following ALL NOTES until you set one, and its own picture. The same set again while a hold is down.
THE CENTRAL HOLD spans the field again, and its rows draw at the colour and opacity it uses.
A TAIL'S OPACITY is kept apart from its colour. Moving one no longer darkens the tails.
Offset and scale, one row each

THE PLAYFIELD BLOCK: ~~five slider rows for two ideas, with REFLECTION and WATER EFFECT in between~~ ⇒ OFFSET and SCALE as X, Y and Z fields you drag or type into, together under CAMERA. Z appears only in 3D.
EACH NOTE BLOCK splits into its parts, with everything a press changes grouped under HELD.
THE PP COUNTER: ~~hidden unless a skin switched it on~~ ⇒ shown in every skin that does not say otherwise. Settings → Visuals gets a PP COUNTER row with SKIN, ON and OFF.
THE PLAYFIELD, THE POINTER AND THE EDITOR

KEEP THE POINTER DURING A RUN. A row in OTHERS, on by default, read every frame, so unticking it mid-song hands the pointer back on the next one.
THE PLAYFIELD IS MEASURED BY ITS RECEPTORS, not by whatever hangs off a lane. FOLLOW THE LANES put the judgement text 27.69 px to the right at 1904 wide. It is 0.00 now, in both camera modes.
PUBLISH A WHOLE BATCH AT ONCE: ~~one difficulty at a time, about thirty seconds each~~ ⇒ sets in parallel and difficulties inside them. Measured at 45 difficulties a minute instead of two.
WHEN THE FIREWALL REFUSES AN UPLOAD the editor says so instead of showing a bare HTTP 403, and stops resending 50 MB for the same answer three times.
THE EDITOR AND THE GAME KEEP THEIR OWN BEATMAP INDEX. It lives beside the library it describes. A cold start is 84 s and the next one 0.99 s, where every launch used to re-read all 4,091 beatmaps.

THE BEATMAP BROWSER HAS THE GAME'S FILTERS: Played, Hidden and Favourites for a signed-in reader, Pending under Show only, a direction on the sort, and a difficulty range.
MODE splits into MANIA (all mania, 3K to 7K) and STANDARD. Sets whose charts carry a compound variant are reachable, and 3K is in the list.
A PLAYED SET SAYS SO on the row, in the gap that was already sitting between the title and the numbers.
THE DIFFICULTY CARD: ~~five figures on one line joined by middle dots, three of them unlabelled~~ ⇒ six numbers in two rows. The sixth is what a run of nothing but MAX would earn. Four layouts in the menu beside the title.
EVERY DIFFICULTY CHIP can read "4K · 104 pp", with a Show pp box beside the result count. The game's hover opens over it.
SORT BEATMAPS BY WHAT THEY PAY, beside Difficulty, and by either of a set's two durations.
KEY MODS ON A SCORE ROW: their own purple pill, x0.90 in the multiplier line, a row in the wiki's mod table, and "7K > 4K" beside the badge so a converted run does not read as a native one.
ALL RUNS joins Finished and Unfinished on the latest plays feed, on the home page and on the rankings tab. Both open on it.
THE LOGO TURNS ON THE BEAT while a page loads: ~~five equalizer bars~~ ⇒ the triangle, a third of a turn per beat, with a shockwave each time it lands.
THE RANK CHART stops disagreeing with the rank above it, which is what anyone who climbed after midnight was reading.
325 KEYS that shipped as English in the other sixteen languages are translated: the tournaments and review sections, the browser's filter labels, the judgement names, and Performance in every board and profile.
BUGFIXES

Hidden and Fade In draw again. A skin's blend was taking the fade shader off the notes on every repaint, in 2D and in 3D.
Both search boxes have a caret, and the field holding the keyboard says so.
Gameplay is its own tab in the settings rail instead of a fold under Skin. Note speed is not a variant of a skin.
The chart type filter in song selection applies on the tick, not on the way out. The library it filters is already in memory.
Lane edges, centre lines and the middle of a hold get the game's own picture back when a skin drops its own.
Typing in the skin editor no longer leaves the shortcuts listening.
Discord names built out of dressed-up letters fold back into letters the game can draw.
The four keys the new download filters added are translated into the other thirteen languages.
SEE YOU ON THE PLAYFIELD
Tell us how a 7K chart feels in 3K, and what it should pay. The conversion is frozen at V1 on purpose. The numbers it produces decide whether it stays there.

LONG NOTES, DRAWN PROPERLY
On the field
A head, a body that tiles up from the tail, and a tail. No stretched ribbon, no white slab.

THE HEAD STAYS ON THE LINE while you hold it: ~~an early press dragged the ribbon down to the line and left it there~~ ⇒ it sits on the judgement line until the tail arrives, then the whole note leaves at once.
AT 75%: ~~the ribbon swapped texture where the hold pays its credit, and read as cut in half~~ ⇒ the credit still pays there, and nothing on screen moves.
NO MORE SHAKE: the bar was drawn after the frame it measured, so a held head sat 16–36 px under the receptor and moved every frame. It now draws against the frame being drawn — measured at 0.0 px across thirty frames.
A SKIN THAT SHIPS BOTH END CAPS is drawn this way on its own, with nobody touching a row. Without caps it is the additive light it always was, so no existing skin changes.
In the skin editor
Six pieces for a long note, and a real switch for the pressed state.

OVERRIDE HELD NOTES sits in each of the three families — central, rhythm and melodic. Off, a hold looks the same pressed. On, the rows under it are what pressed looks like, and nothing else.
THE HELD WIDTH: ~~applied whatever you did, so every tail in every skin widened under your finger without anybody asking for it~~ ⇒ only when the override is on.
TWO OPACITY ROWS: ~~the tail's opacity only existed as the alpha strip hidden in the colour picker~~ ⇒ LONG NOTE OPACITY for the tail at rest, LONG NOTE HELD OPACITY for the moment your key is down.
SIX TEXTURES in all — start, body and end, plus the three held ones — and the tail's colour now reaches all three pieces while the chart is running.
EVERY SKIN ALREADY INSTALLED was read for what it was already doing and seeded to match. None of them look any different.
FIND A SKIN SETTING BY TYPING
138 controls across three tabs, and finding one meant guessing the tab and then scrolling.

A BOX UNDER THE SKIN'S NAME filters all three tabs at once, and the tab rail says how many matches each one is holding. If the tab you are on has none, the panel moves to one that does.
A ROW ANSWERS TO ITS HEADING as well as its own name, so "melody 4 colour" finds a row that is just called COLOUR.
CTRL+F puts the cursor in the box, ESC clears it, and a click on the playfield clears it and scrolls to the block you clicked.
EVERY HEADING FOLDS ITS BLOCK — the whole heading is the button. A search opens everything while it is up, and your folds come back the moment you clear it.
THE STATUS LINE: ~~"Up to date" sitting there whenever nothing was happening, which was most of the time~~ ⇒ it is simply not there until it has something to say.
THREE SWITCHES FOR THE SPARKS
"The particles when you press a note" turned out to be three different effects.

HIT SPARKS: the burst the receptor throws at the moment you hit a note.
HOLD SPARKS: the jet it keeps up for as long as a long note lasts.
NOTE SPARKLE: the glint each note carries the whole way down — not a press effect at all.
All three start on, and a skin written before they existed reads them on, so nobody who touches nothing sees a change. Turn all three off and the field goes quiet: the receptors are flat bars of colour again and the note head arrives plain.
A PLAYFIELD WITH NOTHING IN THE WAY

THE MOUSE POINTER HIDES while a song is playing, and the corner buttons go with it — they come back the moment you are not playing.
THE GAME HAS ITS OWN POINTER: ~~the Windows arrow~~ ⇒ the logo's triangle, from the splash screen onward.
THE BEATMAP BACKDROP has one switch that turns it off, on a row of its own.
H HIDES THE HUD in a replay and while spectating.
DRAG THE PLAYFIELD where you want it instead of moving sliders, and every marker piece can be dragged — not only the health bar. The timing bar and the pp a run is worth are pieces a skin can place too.
SONG SELECT

FILTER BY TAGS, the same way the download browser does — the chart tags, on the list you actually pick from.
THE OTHER FOUR BOARDS are in the dropdown that used to hide them.
THE PREVIEW FOLLOWS THE RATE, so a chart you are about to play at 1.4x sounds like it.
THE CHAT WINDOW MOVES

DRAG IT AND RESIZE IT, and it comes back where you left it.
EACH DM'S FACE on its channel tab, so a row of tabs is a row of people.
SEND A BEATMAP IN A MESSAGE, and open one that arrives.
THE BEATMAP EDITOR

DRAG A LONG NOTE'S ENDS instead of retyping its duration.
UPLOAD A WHOLE MAPSET from the editor in one go.
THE CAMERA PERSPECTIVE is remembered between sessions.
THE BEAT DIVISIONS are drawn on the lanes they divide, and only as far as the view can reach.

A CHART'S BOARD can be narrowed to a country, to your friends, to one speed or to one mod.

THE PROFILE SAYS WHAT YOU ARE DOING, not just that you are online, and the badge opens the map it names.
ETTERNA joins the profile links, and the rhythm-game links carry their real logos now.
TOP PLAYS reaches the second hundred, the latest plays feed refreshes itself, and the country table says which keymode it is counting instead of always 4K.
THE STREAK says when the day turns over, and what to do about a day that has not counted yet.
THE PP RECALCULATION PANEL: ~~a panel you had to read to know where you stood~~ ⇒ retired, and the page simply says how full your pp window is.
THE WORLD RANKING can show the players it hides, when you ask it to.
BUGFIXES

Typing in the skin editor no longer plays the chart underneath — searching for "spark" used to press whichever lanes S, P, A, R and K were bound to.
Escape from a text field clears the field instead of closing the editor.
A hold's spent and failed ribbons keep their texture when you change skin without leaving the song.
The two ends of a long note survive the skin under them being rebuilt.
Last song's answer no longer puts its event cursor back on this one.
The game opens on its menu until the four notes are worth playing.
Spectate says why the picture stopped, not just that it did — and says what the player you are watching is doing, not only their name.
A long note is called one thing everywhere in the game.

PLAY ON THE TIMING YOU KNOW
Pick the game you came from
Settings → Gameplay → JUDGEMENT TIMING, or the first screen you see on a new install.

TWELVE PRESETS: Lynium Classic, osu!mania OD5 / OD8 / OD10, Quaver Chill / Standard / Strict, Etterna J4 / J5 / J6 / J7, and StepMania / ITG. The ms values are printed on every one.
THE COMPARE STRIP draws two window ladders on the same scale with VS between them, so you can hold any preset next to the one you are on before you commit.
NEW PLAYERS GET ASKED in the first-run wizard, which now also has a Back button for the whole thing.
Your score does not move
Every hit is judged twice — once on Lynium Classic, once on the preset you picked.

LYNIUM CLASSIC DECIDES your score, your submitted counters, your accuracy, your pp, your health and the Full Combo and Perfect Clear tiers.
YOUR PRESET DECIDES the judgement popup, the accuracy on the HUD and the hit-offset graph on the results screen.
SO IT IS RANKED ON DAY ONE. No multiplier, no Unranked tag, and Custom is ranked too. Clearing your mods does not clear it, because it is a preference and not a mod.
THE ACCURACY PILL: ~~a bare percentage~~ ⇒ the percentage and the preset's code, so a screenshot says what it was played on.
THE RESULTS SCREEN keeps ranked accuracy as the headline and gains two lines under it: the accuracy on your preset, and Wife3 reported at J4 so it means the same for everyone.
A REPLAY OR A SPECTATED RUN carries the preset it was played on, not yours.
Or write your own

CUSTOM gives you four sliders — MAX, Perfect, Excellent and Good. Acceptable and Miss are fixed at 125 and 175 ms in every preset, custom included.
SAVE IT WITH A NAME and it joins YOUR PRESETS, loadable from anywhere in the list.
THEY ARE FILES, written into a JudgementPresets folder. Drop somebody else's in and it is there next time you sign in, the same way a skin is.
THE CHOICE FOLLOWS YOUR ACCOUNT, not the machine. It is the one preference that describes the player rather than the hardware.
IMPORT A SONG, GET A CHART
Drop an mp3 into the editor in Standard mode and the grid comes back full.

FOUR DIFFICULTIES, generated together: Easy 1K-3K, Normal 2K-4K, Hard 3K-4K and Expert 3K-5K. Save all difficulties writes them as one set with the audio beside them.
TEMPO, OFFSET AND THE DOWNBEAT are found for you. No more nudging an offset by hand before you can start.
THE DRUMS DECIDE THE RHYTHM LANES: kicks to the centre, snare and crash to the sides, and a beat with no drum under it stays empty.
THE MELODY IS LAID OUT LIKE A KEYBOARD — low notes left, high notes right, lane boundaries placed where this song's pitches actually fall.
EVERY TIER AIMS AT A STAR RATING and tunes its own density against the game's own calculator until it lands within 0.15★ of it.
THE GENERATOR PANEL lets you move the tier, the rhythm keys, the melody keys and the density, and regenerate without leaving the grid. Three seconds for a three-minute song, and the editor stays usable while it works.
YOUR DAY STREAK IS IN THE GAME
The site has counted it for months. The game never said a word about it.

A FLAME AND A NUMBER on your profile card, and a full-screen card at the end of a song showing the streak, the week so far and what the day paid.
A DAY IS A SONG FINISHED and not failed. Signing in does not count, and neither does a run you walked away from.
PROTECTORS: you start with one, and the cap goes to two at fourteen days. You earn one back every seven days, and you can buy one for 500 Lynium Points.
THEY SPEND THEMSELVES the moment you come back — nothing to equip. Two missed days with one protector is not enough, so nothing is charged and the streak resets. And if a streak does break, you keep the protectors you had.
[Website] A flame beside every name on the rankings board.
THE IN-GAME RANKINGS WINDOW: ~~a second copy of the leaderboard, with its own pages, drifting away from the real one~~ ⇒ removed. The rank on your profile card opens the board it is showing on lyniumgame.com.
AUTOPLAY GETS A TRANSPORT BAR
Watching a chart play itself used to be all or nothing.

THE SAME BAR A REPLAY HAS: restart, −5s, play/pause, +5s, a timeline you can seek and a clock.
SPEED FROM 0.50x TO 4.00x, moving while you drag it, with presets at 0.50, 1.00, 1.50, 2.00, 3.00 and 4.00.
TONE FOLLOWS SPEED is a switch. Above 2.00x the tone rides the clock and the switch says so.
FROM THE KEYBOARD: , and . move the speed by 0.05, / puts it back to 1.00x, space and the arrows do what they do in a replay.
THE REPLAY BAR gains the same speed control, capped at 2.00x so a replay stays watchable at pitch.
A SLIDER FOR HOW SOLID A NOTE DRAWS
Asked for in the Discord, and it was one number away the whole time.

OPACITY joins the skin editor under Lanes → All notes, from 0.00 to 1.00, starting at the value the game has always drawn.
BRIGHTNESS: ~~a swatch that also carried how solid the note was, with nothing saying so~~ ⇒ TINT, multiplied over the note art, with opacity as its own row underneath.
Nothing new is written to a skin file and no existing skin changes — a skin with no opinion still draws exactly as it did.
FADE IN AND HIDDEN WORK IN 2D NOW

FADE IN: ~~above note speed 40 the band ran past what the 2D camera can draw, so the screen edge did the hiding and the mod did nothing — while still charging its multiplier~~ ⇒ the band is measured against what the camera can actually show, so a higher speed gives you a tighter Fade In instead of no Fade In.
HIDDEN had the opposite fault — its far edge overflowed and the track went blank for the whole corridor. Its near edge never moved and still does not.
[Website] WHO FOLLOWS YOU
Two numbers on a profile that were never anything but numbers.

BOTH ARE BUTTONS now, opening a dialog with a Followers tab and a Following tab.
EVERY ROW IS A PLAYER: name, flag, icon, level, when they were last here, and their position and pp on the board you are reading. Somebody with no position on that board says so instead of showing a zero.
BUGFIXES

A spectated run goes on the board under the name of the person who played it, and pays them their pp the same as a run played here.
The spectator room is named after the player being watched, so the rail never shows two rooms called the same thing.
A gif you upload to the chat animates, and a picture that arrives without its size gets measured.
An image that does not go through says what actually went wrong.
A link in the chat can be pulled out instead of read off the screen and retyped.
Song selection is sent the map you clicked, not the one that happens to be playing.
Importing a .lyn puts it in the folder the rest of the game reads, and a second version of a song is asked about instead of refused.
PAUSE WHEN UNFOCUSED is read again, instead of every run pausing on alt-tab.
The keybind labels stay off a run nobody is playing.
A tooltip with no room to open stays on the screen, and has a name, a border and room to breathe.
Song selection's mode row sits on the same ground as the filters beside it.
[Website] The runs that died on a chart appear under the ones that cleared it, with what happened to them instead of an empty medal.
[Website] A beatmap page draws the real background, not the 480x270 thumbnail.
[Website] A note is written on the chart it is about, the bar moves its pin, and the pinned list folds away behind a Show.
[Website] The country filter has its flags and its names, and offers every country the board has.
[Website] The Friends board has its second half back.
[Website] The online count is the people who are here, not everyone who signed in this hour.
[Website] A Steam name that needs four bytes per character arrives in one piece, and the names that had already lost one were repaired.

Spectating
Right-click a name in the chat, hit Spectate, and you are in their run.

THE FEED: their playfield, their score, their combo, their accuracy, rebuilt from a snapshot once a second. Your health bar cannot fail — it is not your run.
JOINING LATE is fine. The session rewinds to where they are and carries on from there.
THE BEATMAP DOWNLOADS ITSELF if you do not have it, with a progress bar and a Stop button.
BETWEEN RUNS a card says what they are doing and on which chart. When they finish you get their results screen; when they start again you are already there.
A CHAT ROOM PER PLAYER, down the left of the field, so everyone watching is in the same conversation.
Who is watching you
An eye in the corner, and the names on the pause screen.

WHILE YOU PLAY: a quiet N watching badge in the lower left. No sound, no animation.
ON PAUSE: their names, over the beatmap card. Click one to open the profile.
ALLOW SPECTATORS is a switch in Settings → Others if you would rather play alone.
EVERY PLAY IS A REPLAY
The replay
Every run records its inputs — about 15 KB, judged at the recorded millisecond and not at the frame it draws on.

FROM THE RESULTS SCREEN: a REPLAY button in the footer, whenever a recording exists for that run.
FROM A LEADERBOARD: a replay icon on any row whose score has one, in the game and on the site.
THE TRANSPORT BAR: restart, −5s, play/pause, +5s and a timeline you can seek. Notes, score and health rewind with it.
A replay submits nothing, does not count as a play and does not mark the beatmap as played.
Notes pinned to a moment
Say something about the drop, and it appears at the drop.

WRITING ONE pauses the replay; posting it resumes. Two hundred characters, because it is read while a chart scrolls under it.
THEY CROSS THE FIELD at the moment they are about, up to fourteen at once, and never over the judgement line.
COMMENTS ON / OFF sits on the HUD if you would rather watch clean.
[Website] The same notes fly across the chart preview on the beatmap page, with a mark on the scrubber for every moment somebody stopped at, and a Pinned to a moment list beside the thread.
EASY AND HARDER
Two mods that rewrite a chart toward the star rating you ask for.

A TARGET SLIDER shares the top row of the Mods panel with Speed, from 1.0 to 12.0. Turn either mod on and the panel prints the chart's real rating next to the one it reached — measured, not promised.
EASY only touches the sections above your target: it aligns staggered releases, thins streams keeping their shape, undoes jacks and separates stuck notes.
HARDER raises the sections below it: chords on accents, notes under long notes, longer streams, subdivisions the chart already uses.
NOTHING IS INVENTED. Every new note lands on a time the phrase already uses, and never makes a jack faster than the fastest one in the original.
BOTH ARE UNRANKED for now. The play is stored, but it pays no pp until the server can verify the new rating itself.
THE RATING YOU PLAY sits next to the published one, struck through, everywhere the two differ.
QUICK SETTINGS ON THE PAUSE SCREEN
Turning the music down used to be a trip into Settings and back.

AUDIO: music volume, hitsound volume.
VISUALS: background dim, saved per beatmap, with a ↺ beside it whenever it differs from your global.
GAMEPLAY: 2D/3D camera, note speed, fixed note speed.
NOTE SPEED: ~~applied when the beatmap restarted~~ ⇒ applied while you watch, paused.
BEATMAP VIDEO: a new switch, remembered per beatmap, that only appears on maps that have one.
THE MODS BUTTON: ~~the same magenta as Skin, cloned from its row~~ ⇒ the blue of its own panel.
THE CHAT OPENS IN THE PRESENT

A COLD OPEN: ~~the hundred oldest messages still alive, then another hundred every three seconds — the first thing on screen was five days old~~ ⇒ the last fifty, and you are already caught up.
#SCORES: a new room, bridged both ways with the Discord score channel. Post in either and it lands in both.
THE ROOM RAIL SCROLLS, so a new room or DM no longer draws itself on top of the one below.
THE UNREAD COUNTER: ~~a 30 px disc that split "99+" across two lines~~ ⇒ the same pill the tabs use, on one line.
READ MARKS land where you actually read to, so a room stops coming back unread on every launch.
NEW: a lime badge behind the name of anybody whose account is under a week old, in the chat and on the site. Rank wins, so a moderator still shows MOD.
A NEW VERSION, WITHOUT INTERRUPTING THE SONG

A pill in the lower right says a new version is waiting and that a restart applies it. Dismiss it and it stays gone for the session.
It never appears during a run or inside the editor.

YOU GET TOLD when somebody comments on your beatmap, replies to your comment, mentions you, pins a note on your chart, follows you or likes your map.
EVERY ROW LANDS ON THE COMMENT, not on the page: the site works out which page holds it, scrolls to it and rings it.
@MENTIONS: type @ in a beatmap comment and the names come to you. Up to ten per comment.
The free like the game grants at ten attempts deliberately does not notify. "Liked your map" should mean somebody meant it.

THE BOARD PICKER: ~~one rank, and it was always the 4K one~~ ⇒ three pills — 4K, 7K, Standard — each carrying its own global rank. Rank, country rank, pp, accuracy, top plays, grades and both charts follow the one you pick. Play count, ranked score, level and followers stay career totals.
FIVE MORE PLATFORMS: Quaver, Malody, TikTok, SoundCloud and Ko-fi join the link catalogue. Paste the whole address and it gets trimmed for you.
STEAM: a chip on every profile, taken from the account you already sign in with — nothing to type. There is a switch in Privacy if you would rather it were not there.
LAST SEEN: ~~read off the login timestamp, so a profile said "last seen 37m" for somebody who was playing right then~~ ⇒ the most recent of your heartbeat, your last score and your login. The ranking boards' green dot got the same fix.

Stars, BPM and a note count never told you how a chart actually plays.

A SCROLLING PLAYFIELD on every beatmap page, running with the song and drawn to the game's own geometry — the same lane spacing, the same judgement line, the same truncated scroll speed the client uses. It starts on arrival, muted, with the speaker on the preview.
2D OR 3D, whichever you'd rather read. The flat field, or the runway.
SCROLL SPEED AND DIM are yours to move, and the whole thing goes fullscreen.
THE COVER SITS BEHIND THE LANES — and the beatmap's video, on the sets that have one.

Search plays the beatmap it landed on, not the one before it.
A run that was just played gets its Replay icon without being asked twice.
Fixed note speed holds still when a rate mod moves the clock.
A failed download says so, to you and to the server, instead of failing quietly.
A replay is kept as carefully as the score it belongs to, so the game stops claiming one was saved when it was not.
Every one of the 15 locale files carries the same 1,507 keys again — the chat, DMs, Easy and Harder and the editor now speak all of them.

Seven rooms, the people in them, and whatever you feel like sending.
The window

A CARD, NOT A CURTAIN: it sits in the corner with the game still visible behind it, and expands to fullscreen when you want it to.
ONE ROW PER MESSAGE: avatar, name, badge, country flag and time, grouped when the same person keeps talking.
DATE SEPARATORS: Today, Yesterday or the date, in your language and your timezone.
SEND STATE: grey while it goes out, red with the reason if it does not. Right-click to retry, discard or copy.
READING OLD MESSAGES: the view stays where you left it, and a pill counts what arrived and drops you back to the end.
MENTIONS tint your line and colour the chat button while the window is closed.
THE ONLINE COLUMN: who is here, their flag, their world rank and what they are doing right now.
Seven rooms, mirrored to Discord

THE ROOMS: Global, Español, Português, Русский, 简体中文, 日本語 and 한국어 — the same rooms as their Discord channels, seen from two windows.
WHAT YOU SEND is posted to Discord signed with your own name, not as a bot.
WHAT ARRIVES comes with its author's avatar and a Discord mark beside the time.
THREADS hang indented under the channel they came from, with their own unread counts.
REPLIES: right-click a message and answer it, with the quoted line above yours.
PRIVATE MESSAGES: open one from a name, and close it when you are done.
MUTING A ROOM stops it notifying you. It keeps receiving.
What a message can carry

IMAGES: attachments arrive as thumbnails you can open at full size, and a + in the composer sends one from your disk.
EMOJI: the colour set Discord draws, with a 56-emoji picker.
SERVER EMOTES draw inline, mid-sentence — animated ones actually move, and so do gifs.
LINKS to a beatmap or a Workshop skin unfold into a card.
BADGES: supporter, admin and moderator, behind the name.
HUGE FPS IMPROVEMENT
A run draws twice the frames it did. Most of it was work nobody could see, charged every frame anyway.

A MISSED NOTE: ~~left its particle system ticking for the rest of the song~~ ⇒ shut down like a hit one
THE TIMING TICK: ~~was created and destroyed on the HUD canvas once per note, forcing a full rebuild each time, with about fifty alive at once~~ ⇒ its own nested canvas
THE CHAT COSTS NOTHING WHILE IT IS CLOSED: no rows built, no gifs decoded, no textures held. It wakes when you open it, and lets go when you close it — 30 MB, not 146.
WITH IT OPEN: 5.2 ms for a message that arrives, 4.52 ms to rebuild the layout, and 115 graphics on screen at a time — a window of forty rows that grows as you scroll up, and only the ones you can see are alive.
THE UNREAD BADGE waits until the song is over, and keeps counting while it waits.
THE DOWNLOADS BROWSER ASKS WHAT A CHART IS
Five filters, and none of them said what you were about to download.

TYPE: the 37 chart tags the website has always filtered on are now in the game, in the same four groups — Patterns, Long notes, Shape and Content — several at a time, matching all of them or any of them.
HIDE A BEATMAP SET: don't like a set in the search? Right-click it ⇒ Hide beatmap set, and it never shows up again. The mark lives on your account, so it stays hidden on any install, and the Hidden sets filter is where you take it back.
MODE: ~~4K and 7K shared one entry~~ ⇒ 4K only and 7K only ask for one, exactly as song selection already did.
SEVEN FILTERS, TWO ROWS: what the maps are on top, your relation to them underneath.
FOUR NOTES BEFORE THE MENU
The loading gap is a chart now. Miss all four and it still lets you in.

THE BOOT: ~~a spinning triangle and a tip in the corner~~ ⇒ four notes on four lanes, played with A S J K
THE WELCOME is the mark and one line, centred, and it draws its own translations.
THE INTRO SCENE is gone, and the horizontal logo takes its place.

THE CHART LINE now says the star rating, the length and the date, next to the mapper.
AN UNRANKED RUN says so in the pp slot instead of showing a number nobody will keep.

BUGFIXES

A short hold is no longer lost by letting go early: under two beats the head press is the whole judgement, so dropping it costs the rest of the combo instead of the note. Holding it out still pays every mark, and no chart's maximum combo moved.
A second sign-in no longer logs the first one out.
A play the server refused for its own bad count is kept instead of thrown away.
A run is judged on the mods it was played under, and Auto travels with it so the server can refuse an autoplay itself.
A shared link opens the thing it names.
The music player clears all of itself, not just the part that looks like it.
A song keeps its own name, and stops being cut at fifty characters.
The beatmap editor works before the beatmap has a name, and asks before you leave with unsaved work.
A hold's tail stopped burning at the note's alpha.

The game says what happened on a run, not only what scored.
A short audio no longer announces every note it throws away.
The share button stopped outranking the one beside it.
A long translation no longer breaks a menu label in two.
The video and the hit sounds come across with the beatmap.

[Website] The board's movement arrow refuses to be drawn across a change of pp formula.

The weather reaches the glass in front of you, your library remembers where you have been, and every screen behind the language picker finally answers in the language you picked.
SIX NEW MODS
No Miss does not care how ugly you play, only that you keep playing. SSS or Nothing will end a run on a note you hit well — just not well enough.
Three ways to lose
No Miss, Perfect and SSS or Nothing share one card in Others. Clicking it cycles off ⇒ No Miss ⇒ Perfect ⇒ SSS or Nothing ⇒ off, with a step dot for each. Each one sets a bar and ends the run the instant you drop under it.

NO MISS: any Miss ends the run — every other judgment survives. It is the results screen's FULL COMBO! made into a rule.
PERFECT: an Excellent, a Good, an Acceptable or a Miss ends the run. MAX and Perfect both survive, because the game weighs them the same 300 — this is PERFECT CLEAR!, the SS grade.
SSS OR NOTHING: only MAX survives. A Perfect ends the run. The only mod in the game that can kill you on a note you hit well.
WHAT THEY COST: nothing. ×1.00, no Unranked pill, so the run still counts and still ranks.
WITH NO LOSS: mutually exclusive in both directions — turning either on turns the other off.
AN ORDINARY RUN: unchanged — still 10 health a miss out of 150, so it still takes fifteen misses to lose one the old way.
And three that rewrite the chart

MIRROR: the lanes are flipped left to right. It counts on the boards — the chart is the same one, read from the other side.
RANDOM: the lanes are shuffled. Unranked, because what you played is no longer the chart the mapper wrote.
NO LONG NOTES: every long note becomes a normal one. Unranked, for the same reason.
EIGHTEEN MODS, EIGHTEEN ICONS
Opening Mods used to mean decoding a wall of three-letter codes. Now every card wears its own face.

TELLING MODS APART: ~~a two or three letter code and a hue — ICS, HYS, NLN, a legend you had to learn~~ ⇒ eighteen mods, eighteen drawn icons, each tinted to that mod's own colour
THE PANEL: ~~amber chrome, which is Increase Speed's own colour — it made that one card look permanently pre-selected~~ ⇒ blue on near-black, and a glyph tile on every section heading, chevron up for the mods that raise your score and down for the ones that lower it

A chart that a mod rewrites is rewritten before the first note falls, not while it is already falling.

The star rating measures the hard part now
The old rating divided by the mean of every gap between notes. A mean tells you how dense a chart is on average, which is not what makes anyone fail. RUSH E measured 103 ms when three quarters of its gaps are 47 ms or less. Its densest seconds are within 3% of a vibro chart's — 44.7 notes per second against 46.0 — and yet they scored 5.05 and 5.66.

The server decides what a play is worth

WHO COMPUTES PP: ~~the client sent its own number~~ ⇒ the server recomputes accuracy and pp from your six judgment counts, and rejects a payload claiming more judgments than the chart has objects

THE HEADLINE IS THE POSITION, not the pp — it is the only number there that compares you to other players instead of to a scale that moved for everybody at once
PLAYS THAT PAID NOTHING now pay. In the profile above, three separate charts went from 0pp to 184, 209 and 248.
A RETRY TAKES FIVE SECONDS
It took twelve and a half. Nearly eight of those were silence.
Restarting does not restart — it reloads the whole scene. Measured end to end, from asking for the retry to touching the first note, with the chart and the audio already in memory:

A NEAR MISS COSTS ONE NOTE, NOT THREE
The miss was right. What happened after it was not.
A press between 125 and 175 ms out is a miss — that part is correct, and it is what osu!mania does with the gap between its last scoring window and its miss window. What it did not do was retire the note.

THE LANE AFTER A NEAR MISS: ~~stayed dead until the note was overdue by min(gap to the next note, 175) ms — about 345 ms after a press 170 ms early~~ ⇒ the counter moves on the press, the same way a hit moves it, so the next note in that lane answers immediately
WHAT THAT COST YOU: ~~on a sixteenth stream at 180 BPM one mistimed key also swallowed the two or three notes behind it — forty health off a bar of a hundred and fifty, for a single press~~ ⇒ one press, one note
A PRESS FURTHER OUT THAN 175 MS: still ignored, exactly as it always was
THE HEALTH BAR REMEMBERS THE HIT
The red block behind your health was always there. You had just never seen it.
The same hit — 45 damage out of 150 health — one frame later on top, a third of a second later underneath.

RED ON SCREEN AFTER LOSING 30% OF YOUR HEALTH: ~~0.3% of the bar~~ ⇒ the whole block, held still
THE WHITE BAR FALLING: ~~0.50 s at one flat speed~~ ⇒ 0.30 s, out-quad — it leaves with the hit and settles

DYING MID-ANIMATION: ~~the red froze wherever it had got to, over an empty bar, for the whole defeat screen~~ ⇒ both bars land at zero
THE RED ON A NOTE YOU HIT: ~~healing snapped the red straight to the new value while the white bar still took 0.30 s to get there, so a red edge reappeared and ran on every note you hit~~ ⇒ only damage can put the red ahead — healing drags it up with the white bar, a frame at a time, never past where the white already is
THE TWO BARS: ~~were not drawn the same length~~ ⇒ they are

WITHOUT AN ACCOUNT: you read all of it — the reaction pills are counts and the composer is the way in
DELETING: soft, by the author or a moderator, and a deleted comment with live replies stays as a headstone so the thread still reads
THE PAGE: ~~header and leaderboard~~ ⇒ difficulties as a strip, the board across two thirds, the conversation down the right — and a wide screen is finally allowed to be wide

VOTING FROM THE SITE: ~~the game already wrote to the ratings table, but the site had no door~~ ⇒ like and dislike over the leaderboard, on the difficulty you are looking at, and it shows up inside the game

The restart key no longer counts stray taps toward a restart nobody asked for.
The results screen waits for the server's pp instead of counting up to the wrong number.
A board shows the run it actually ranks, not whichever tied row came back first.
Ranking movement arrows are drawn against a week ago, not against yesterday.
The game stopped assuming a set's audio is always an mp3.
The link listener is let go when the game closes.
The music player finds a song by either of its names.
The player bar lights on the beat, and a set row shows its tempo.
Song selection loads the covers the scroll is showing, not the ones around the selection.
Discord says which beatmap you are playing.
[Website] A beatmap page no longer opens on "beatmap not found" for a moment — it plays a loading animation and then loads properly.

THE RESULTS SCREEN
Everything the game knew about your run, and none of it on screen.
The old screen was a grid of labels and values with the score at the bottom, and size was the only hierarchy it had. This one is a new scene, generated rather than restyled, and it lands one block at a time: the header, the score, the stats, the six judgments one by one, and last the accuracy curve drawing itself from left to right.

PERFORMANCE POINTS: ~~already calculated, already sent to the backend, already ordering the World Ranking — never shown at the moment you earned them~~ ⇒ under the score, on every run
YOUR TIMING: ~~each note's offset was computed and thrown away~~ ⇒ a full-width accuracy graph for the whole song

Zero misses and twenty misses used to produce the same screen.
There was no concept of a Full Combo anywhere in the code. Now there are three nested tiers and only the highest one shows.

FULL COMBO! — no misses. Green.

A grade you cannot reach by being accurate.
MAX and Perfect are both worth 300. A run that is entirely MAX and a run that is entirely Perfect are therefore the same 100% and the same SS — accuracy has no way to tell them apart. SSS is decided by a different question: was every single note inside ±50 ms?

THE CONDITION: ~~unreachable — the sprite existed and the letter function never returned it~~ ⇒ IsMaxScore, the strictest thing the game can measure

The slider was moving between the indices of a hidden fifteen-entry dropdown — 10, 20, 30 and so on. Anything in between was rounded off, and a saved 37 was written back as 50 the moment you pressed Play. In memory and in the config file.

Every screen was telling you how long the mp3 was.
All four difficulties of a set announced the same number, because that number came from the audio file. It now comes from the notes — first to last — per difficulty.

SONG SELECTION: ~~an empty top-right corner~~ ⇒ a glass card with LENGTH, MAX NOTES and CREATOR
SORTING: ~~five criteria~~ ⇒ seven, adding Beatmap length and Audio length
THE PAUSE CARD: ~~2:51 on Counting Stars [4K EZ]~~ ⇒ 2:48, the chart. On GHOST the gap was thirty-five seconds.
ON THE SITE: in the listing, on Top plays and on every difficulty row. A set whose charts disagree shows a range — FREEDOM DiVE reads 2:25 - 4:19.

Three filters that could not filter, and one line of magenta to tell you that you already owned something.

DOWNLOADED (new): all, hidden, or only downloaded — resolved on the server. The code had been sitting commented out in three branches against a toggle that was never wired up.
PLAYED (new): all, played, not played. The row only knew how many times everyone had played a set, never you.
A SET YOU OWN: ~~a 4px magenta hairline and grey text~~ ⇒ the row goes green, a DOWNLOADED pill sits over the cover, and the download cloud becomes a check

SYNC FIX
The change you cannot see, and will feel on the first frame spike.
A run used to keep two clocks. One read the song and judged your hits. The other added up wall-clock time, frame by frame, and decided where the notes were drawn. While the machine kept up, they agreed by luck. One stutter and they stopped agreeing — and the drawing clock never caught back up, so the notes stayed out of sync for the rest of the song.
There is one clock now, and the audio is the truth.

A brand new Beatmap Editor
The editor was rebuilt from scratch. The playfield now reads exactly like the one you play on — same lanes, same notes, same feel — so what you build is what you get.

The music, drawn behind your notes. A live spectrum sits under the playfield, mirrored from the centre and lined up with your offset, so placing notes stops being guesswork. Toggle it from the SPECTRUM chip.
Beats numbered down the side of the playfield, counted straight through the song instead of restarting every bar. Toggle it from the BEATS chip.
2D and 3D views with redesigned view controls, and readouts that tell you which camera mode is on and what the zoom is.
A note density strip you can drag aside — and bring straight back — so it never fights the playfield in 3D.
Beat offset stepping right at the top of the panel, and beat lines thinner and easier to read through.
A line picker that only offers the lines your layout actually has, with rest zones sized to the lanes.
No more freezing on beatmaps with a lot of notes.
Timing, metadata and uploading
Every editor dialog was rebuilt in the screen's own language.

Timing Points was rebuilt, and kiai times are now editable — add one at the playhead and set exactly where the song flashes.
Metadata and Design dialogs redesigned, and beatmap metadata now actually saves.
The upload window is finished: a proper overwrite sheet when you replace an existing map, real progress while it transfers, and a clear ending when it lands.
The metronome's beat lights sit centred on their own rail.
Test play, without losing your work
Test play now tells you exactly what it is about to do. Save and test writes to disk; test without saving plays the beatmap exactly as it sits in the editor and leaves your changes untouched when you come back.
Song selection, rebuilt

It opens on the song that is already playing — no jump, and no white flash on the way in.
The screen is put together before it is revealed, so you stop seeing it assemble itself.
Much faster with big libraries. Ranking rows are pooled and the screen waits for your selection to settle before it fetches anything.
Search, ordering, grouping and variant filters right at the top, with the world ranking and your personal record for the selected map down the left.
Favorites
Like a beatmap and actually find it again. Hit the heart on any map, then use the Favorites tab to pull the list back up. Add to favorites also lives in the right-click menu, alongside Edit and Delete.
World Rankings, redesigned

A completely new leaderboard — 4K, 7K and Standard, with country flags, ranked play counts and performance, paged all the way down.
Your position is pinned to the bottom, however deep in the table you are.
Filter the rankings by name.
You no longer need to be signed in to look. Rankings are now visible to players without a session.
Finding and downloading beatmaps

The whole browser was redesigned — Top Rated, All Beatmaps and Newest Maps, with ranked-only, sort and mode filters.
Plays and likes on every row, and the real key counts of each difficulty in the set.
Latest downloads at a glance, with anything still transferring pinned on top.
A Featured Today panel on the left, and an empty downloads list that finally gives you a way out.
Home, account and store

A Featured Beatmaps panel on the home screen, cycling what was just uploaded and what is most played, with plays and likes.
The music player's song list was redesigned.
The account panels were rebuilt, and registration works properly.
Account recovery works end to end — request a code, use it, set a new password, sign in.
The store and the icon picker were redesigned, and both actually work.
Global messages are cleaner and easier to read.
Gameplay fixes

Escape pauses again, including over the pause menu, and the pause screen says what it should.
The washed-out playfield is fixed. The lane glow was blowing out the lanes during a song — lanes now read clean at every difficulty.
Break markers and the in-game leaderboard were fixed.
Blank song covers no longer show up.
Every build is stamped, so bug reports can be matched to an exact version.
