We're still working away on Imagined Leviathans' development. In the meantime, we thought we’d give you a little insight into how the world and map building is doing so far...
Narrative Progression and the Map
As you may know already, Imagined Leviathans will be an open-world, explorative experience with lots to discover. Here's a look at the map!
The ‘Levels’ are going to be like branches on a tree, with Steelhenge at the center and each of the characters living at the map’s edges.
From Steelhenge, you'll be able to look out, see smoke on the horizon, and set out navigating the tundra towards it. Each branch broaches a different existential topic, personified through an NPC exposing the heart of its theme.
You'll be able to move the story forward by reaching out to each of these characters, trying to help them overcome their issues - their ‘personal leviathans’ - to draw them back to Steelhenge (thus finishing each ‘level’). The gameplay will put emphasis on story evolution rather than player evolution. You, the player, will be a constant - affecting change upon the world state.
The overall story arc of the game should serve to drive home the power of community...
