2026 Update!

I am back with a new Update! This one adds new features and fixes some ancient bugs. I am also working on adding Steam Workshop and Modding support. THE GAME FUNCTIONS 100% NOW.

(Sorry that it took so long, I had an awful time removing the old multiplayer system and it broke things that I hadn't even touched for like 4 years!)
Added New Payphone System
Updated map details
Cleaned up the Main Menu
Fixed bugs
Added Sensitivity Slider to Settings
Added new Interactions
Updated the Interaction UI
Removed useless Junk
Fixed the MiniMap
Fixed the Media Player in game
Settings looks a lot nicer now too
More common to find loot in trashcans
A random song will play now when loading into a mall
Resetting collectable progress now works
ATM's have been tweaked
New Mall Decorations (return of Marble pillars)
All graffiti locations are now accessible
New Jump sound
Music system rework
Potential 'softlock' has been removed
Tweaks to the starting tile
Updated Loading Screen
New Tutorial System
I am working on some more content for this game so be on the look out!

To celebrate the new year I have a new update for you!
Sunset Mall has been overhauled in this new update, adding levels, and achievements as well as removing some annoying stuff that honestly, should not have been added in the first place!
Here are some things I have added:

A tutorial (finally)
4 Story levels (more coming soon)
Tons of new achievements
New NPC's
New Malls
New stores
New custom mall tiles (such as art galleries, sitting areas)
An overhauled spawn system, enemies will now spawn at elevators found around the map
An endless mode (you may remember this as the old-school Sunset Mall mode, I made it better)
+ More!
I am also working on a few other things for the game such as elevators that will allow the players to move between floors, and I will be bringing back multiple storey malls too just after I fix some issues in the back end!
I have been reading the recent reviews and I completely understand your problems, I hope this update has fixed most of if not all of the issues and we can work towards making the game the best it can be going forward, I also hope to see you guys in the Discord server!

Thanks for keeping up with the game. This might be the last update (not confirmed) but I am sure to have other games out in the future and this will not be the end of Sunset Mall!

Hello everyone,
This new update brings a lot to the game and also correct a few areas where the game has gone wrong in the past. As you all may know this game was more of a showcase of my abilities as I progressed through my game development journey. I have changed and tweaked the game so much. Added and removed so much as I have learned new things and new ways of fixing issues. I am glad to have gotten the game to where it is and as such I am now officially moving onto the next project!
This project will be spoken about in more detail in the official Sunset Mall Discord server so be sure to check there when you can!
Here is a quick breakdown of the new stuff!

+ Add 50+ new texture types to the mall!
+ Tweak Shopping Mode so that it will load a random Mall
+ Add a new system for collecting and listening to music
+ Re-work the Soda system, it is now easier to collect and using Sodas
+ Add new Shoppers around the mall to talk too
+ Add new quotes for shoppers
+ Add 4 new tracks
+ Tweaked the outside of the Mall
+ Added new cars around the Mall to interact with *not drive*
+ Added new items and bring retired items back
+ Added 7 new Mall Layouts
+ Added 'End of Life' support just to be ready. (Do not worry that wont be for awhile)

- Removed Multiplayer, it was buggy and unused. (I will soften the blow in future announcement)
- Removed some unrelated content
- Removed default cube Mall
- Temporarily Removed 2nd Story just while we test the new layouts!
Thanks for the continued support towards the game, I look forward to bringing more games out just like it in the near future!

Here are some quick fixes:

Fixed spelling issues
Fixed Sale Items bug
Added more shoppers and shopper quotes
Made unique Shopper quotes more common
ATM's now have a 30 second cooldown instead of 60
Mugger hitboxes are now smaller
Muggers now take less money
Mugger top speed is now lower
Fixed all achievement errors
And now here are some new things:

Hitting a Mugger with Soda 3 times will knock them out, causing a despawn
A 'Safe Zone' has been added around players to make it harder for Muggers to spawn near them
Muggers will now stay stationary for a small time after mugging to allow you to get away, make use of this time to gain lots of distance!
NEW VENDING MACHINES
Vending Machines now have a UI with different buttons and different Drink Prices.
As of now, 2 New Drinks have been added to the Vending Machine
Current Drinks:

Root Beer, does a lot of damage if thrown, but is very slow and heavy in the air
Energy Drink, does little damage but flies really fast
Sunset Cola, a healthy balance of speed and damage
All drinks as of now will boost the player if drank, energy drink of course being the best for this and root beer being the worst. cola again being the healthy balance!
