✨ UniDuni releases in 7 days — December 9th on Steam! ✨
We’re finally reaching the finish line, and we want to take a moment to thank every single one of you. Your support, comments, wishlists, and encouragement carried us through a journey that wasn’t always easy. It’s been a very tough ride as game developers — especially considering the state of the industry over the past few years. But despite everything, we survived, and we’re stronger than ever.
To be very honest, we’re not great at the social media game. We just try to show up, do our work, and hope it reaches the people who need it. So if you’re reading this: thank you for existing. We know you also have your own battles, and yet you’re here with us, in this exact moment in time. That means more than we can express.
After years of effort, learning, setbacks, and small victories… UniDuni will finally release. See you on December 9th.

Hi, guys, I hope you all are safe and sound during these tiring times. I’m Heitor Dias, UniDuni Creative Director and I will update our development process in Clops Game Studio.
Firstly, I would like to apologize to all of you that were waiting for some more consistent type of news regarding the game. I promised to deliver a devlog as soon as possible in our Discord, but that “soon” wasn’t really that fast as I expected and intended. Nonetheless, you are always free to interact with us in the way you feel like it, be it email, twitter, discord, etc.
The primary big news I must say is that we had to postpone the game release to 2022. We know that delays are not the greatest thing to deal with, but we firmly believe that we have to deliver the best game we can and try not to rush it. We are considerably far in development and have a comfortable schedule to launch the game this year, if nothing majorly unexpected happens.
To add a bit of context to that, we at Clops Game Studio are a very small team of passionate developers with almost no resources. We know that we could do better about our communication and we are trying our best to assure it, however, as we have to assume a lot of different concurrent tasks, we unfortunately have to sacrifice something to improve other aspects.
During the end of 2021 we were nominated to the “Sense of the wonder” prize at the Tokyo Game Show, because of that we got to participate in the event, it was a dream coming true, however a lot of work too, hahaha. I’m the head of the development team and I was the only person fully dedicated to UniDuni development since 2019, however, I'd depleted my saving funds and that made me have to work on other projects as did the rest of the team. That slowed down our progress a bit, but we are already back at a nice flow of work. Don’t worry, the game will be released!
That said, let’s begin:
Game dialogues/interface localized in 9 languages: English, Brazilian Portuguese, Spanish, French, German, Russian, Japanese, Chinese (simplified) and Korean. Most of it is already implemented in game. We had to fix and adjust some terms as they were implemented.
Pixel Font system overhaul: we now have specific fonts for eastern and western different characters;
UI adjustment to display controller input equivalent;
Input system rework, all controller options should now be possible to use, even if non standard ones. We also added the possibility to manage your controllers on the pause menu during the game;
Rework of the “hop on your friend system”, now it’s easier and faster;
Addition of the possibility to skip the intro cutscene;
Minor sprite and animations adjustments: Now the key gently floats on the top of the player’s head and it’s animation display correctly on it’s way to the door;
Fixed the arrow key on the character selection screen, now it works properly as you change characters;
Complete pushable objects rework (like boxes) to interact properly with treadmills, moving platforms, etc, move faster when more than 1 character is pushing it and they can have a respawn behavior if needed;
Steam store page update: more languages, newer gifs, screenshots, etc;
Game ending cutscene implementation;
Addition of a crush detection system: this opened up a lot of interesting level design possibilities and prevent a few bugs;
Ending puzzle implementation;
Addition of cannon “eject” behavior, now it’s possible to have multiple cannons in one stage and players won’t be stuck inside at the same time;
Adjust on the size of some UI elements to display it’s background better;
We did the recording of main characters voice lines (Yes, we did it ourselves and the result is brilliant hahahah);
Audio system rework: FMOD implementation, we added more sound effects, changed some others, volume level balance (loudness). We plan to change all the BGM’s and add a few more SFX;
Defined the criteria for all UniDuni’s achievements and made the art of it’s icons. There’s a sneak peak!
Addition in the game and balance of a new enemy: Tracker!
Refined the composition, added new sprites and new stages in almost all worlds and levels;
Addition in the game and balance of a new boss: Gibo, the volley-bomb genius!
That’s all for today, I hope you like it! We are still working on more things but they are secret, hahah! Our next step is to create a roadmap to make it clear to UniDuni fans what will be our next steps. Please be mindful that UniDuni is still in development and may change even more in the future.
We will try our best to beat our own game. It's not as easy as it seems, try you too and tell us if you manage to get all medals! Download our demo and wishlist UniDuni!

UniDuni from Studio Clops is a new puzzle-platformer adventure title with a demo available for the Steam Games Festival. Cooperation is key in this chibi-looking retro romp coming out of the burgeoning Brazilian indie-game development circle. I played all of the first world available in the demo with a partner to experience the co-op puzzle solving as intended.
Awash in competent and bright pixel art, the cutesy look might not appeal to everyone, but it certainly won't offend. The titular characters, Uni and Duni sport an anime inspired look along with the rest of the cast of various animals, creatures, and monsters. It's a familiar style in indie games in recent years, but given the simple story and game design that is presented in the demo, it doesn't feel out of place. The main musical theme played on the start-up screen is instantly cheerful and inoffensive as the visual treatment. It's well-crafted and superbly arranged, but the music heard in-game leans more towards quality than quantity.
The pixel art in UniDuni is delightfully adorable.
Opening up into a lush green mountain and forest backdrop, the starting village has lots of cute animal friends to converse with, each giving different responses to different players. This is a small but very nice touch in making the demo feel more polished. You quickly find a rotund famished pup blocking your progress who needs a snack in order for you to leave the village. This fetch quest introduces the basics with walking and jumping. That's all you have to worry about in UniDuni, player accessibility is their goal and it definitely shows. I think this is a great goal for enticing co-op partners that might not play video games often and getting them hooked in the process.
From here the puzzle-platforming begins with levels broken into single-screens with a number of guarana berries to collect. Proceeding quickly, collecting the berries, and minimizing player deaths is all necessary for achieving the medals for every puzzle. This should help seasoned gamers find some challenge in an otherwise relatively easy playthrough. Player deaths are nothing to worry about, however, with instant respawns for both your characters and any physics items needed for a solve that may plummet into a pit. By simply walking, jumping, and using your partner for a lift, you and a friend can learn to cooperate and progress quickly for those gold medals.
The single-screen puzzles in UniDuni can become a little complicated.
The puzzles become slightly more difficult on each screen, slowly adding interactive elements such as blocks to push, switches to press, cannons to fire, bouncy balls to bounce, and more. Timing is crucial on many stages with see-saws or cannons requiring your buddy to act with care, but failure is always a minor delay. Late stages in the demo start combining different interactive elements, making those perfect screen-clears a matter of optimized cooperation.
With the first world featuring ten levels of co-op fun, the UniDuni demo offers a good look at the puzzle-platformer from Studio Clops. The full game is set to have five worlds total with a nice variety of themes teased in the stage select. I'm eager to see how UniDuni shapes up as Clops Game Studio continues development in 2021. There is no current set release date, so the wait might be longer than shorter. UniDuni is sure to please cooperative puzzle lovers everywhere when it eventually launches on Steam.
This preview is based on a public Steam demo. The UniDuni demo is available now as part of the Steam Game Festival 2021 and is set to release TBA.
