A very small update from Friday's build that I forgot to actually click "publish" on (until now):

Once a viewer joins a game in Splat Chat or Minesweeper: 100, the game will start in 30 seconds instead of 60. Not sure if that's the best amount of time, but 60 seconds is definitely too long. Honestly, for Minesweeper: 100, I might make it so the first player to join immediately starts the game and people can join at any time, but maybe that will be an alternate mode/option.
The streamer character in Splat Chat can now look left and right when they move, so you are no longer an ambiturner. One of these days I will learn how to draw walking animations, but today is not that day.
Added a custom mustard hat in Splat Chat for a streamer, and connected it to their account. No one else has a mustard hat.

AFK Mode for Splat Chat works again!

It was brought to my attention last week that Splat Chat's AFK mode was broken! I am so sorry to all of you that were impacted, and it's all better now. Also, once an AFK game finishes, it'll only take 10 seconds to auto-restart a game, so viewers can look at the final stats and get right back into the action.
All the fixes in this update are.....

AFK Mode has been fixed and is working properly for Splat Chat.
Splat Chat and Minesweeper 100 AFK restart timers have been set from 60 seconds to 10 seconds, so viewers can get right back into a new game.
Removed the Open Lobby button for Splat Chat, so it's in line with Minesweeper 100. For both of these games, the game will start 60 seconds after the first viewer types !join.
I feel like every single time I come back to my code it is a hideous mess and it takes me longer to figure out where I am and what on earth I was thinking when I wrote it. So I spent a few days this week cleaning up my hideous garbage code to make future changes happen faster. There is still a long way to go, but this will just keep making my life easier.

This game has not had an update for a long time, and I appreciate a streamer reaching out to kick me into gear with a crash fix. Here are the things that got updated:

Crash fixes have been solved if you start an AFK mode game but no one joins.
On Minesweeper 100, the lobby countdown won't start until someone joins a game. If you're a streamer and want to test before you go live, type !join into the chat.
This will be applied to AFK versions of all games shortly.
I've updated to the new subscription version of GameMaker Studio 2. There are some big differences under the hood, and all my updates seem to be working properly. I've been doing a ton of testing, but anything's possible. Shoot me an email if you see anything weird. Messages on Steam don't notify me at all and it's the worst.
One last announcement is that I'll be removing access to Bombertown in a future update. Try as hard as I might, the stream delay makes it impossible for the game to work as intended. It feels like Bomberman, but slowed down to a crawl. I'll leave a secret command in case you really want to see how bad it is, but I'd rather try to put in a new game, like a 100-player rock paper scissors tournament. We'll see if I can take the time to make that happen.

Yes, it's ugly, but I've run a bunch of tests and everything seems like it's in good working order. The custom rules you can set are...

Your HP can be 1/2/3
You can start with a larger board size
You can adjust the difficulty by selecting how many mines you start with (the middle option is normal difficulty)
In the main menu, you'll need to click Custom Game every time you want to play with these rules. If you click "Play with viewers" it will revert back to the standard rules.
If there are other rules you'd like me to prioritize, let me know at [email protected] and I'll try to bump those up in the next release.
Other changes I made in this version are...

Fixed a bug where incorrectly-placed Minesweeper flags were not being removed when the streamer died.
Fixed a bug where the time running out in Minesweeper would trigger the nuke, but not end the game if you had 2 or more HP. Now you die for real.
Fixed a crash bug where if a corner square and all the squares around it were completely empty, it would create an infinite loop and slow your game down until it killed the game. This took a lot of time to track down, but it's all better now!
I basically rewrote a lot of the systems for generating a minesweeper board. The game wasn't designed to support adjustable rules, so this took about a week to set up.

A small update for all you Minesweeper Extreme: 100 fans.

Your character now has 2 HP instead of 1 HP. Since you can die on the first mine, this will hopefully make the game feel less unfair.
When you take your first hit, you will have 5 seconds of invincibility so if you want to dig in a straight line really quick, you now have the ability to do that. But only for 5 seconds. Be quick about it.
I have started writing the code which will let you customize your minesweeper games. It'll take me at least a week to have an early version of this ready. My plan is to let you change some elements of the game, such as

Increasing your HP (1/2/3/4)
Increasing the HP for everyone in the chat (1/2/3)
Countdown timer
How often earthquakes happen (15/30/45/60/90/120 seconds)
Earthquakes enabled/disabled
Size of the starting grid
Everyone has their own minesweeper preferences, so I'll do the best I can to give you some more control there.

Today's update brings some fixes that have been on my todo list for a while. I've needed to spend a lot more time than I expected working on my actual board game (QuickFight: A Legacy Game) because a major board game publisher is interested. But as that work is wrapping up I'm starting to come back and make improvements here because I know how much some of you love playing these video games.
Most of the changes today are small, but they'll make a big difference to those of you that ran into problems. The fixes I can remember are...

When something is clickable, there's now a pointer finger icon for your mouse cursor. That should make it much easier to figure out where you can interact with things, or when there are surprises.
Your Supertank in Happy Tanksgiving can now lean over large holes. Previously, if you touched a hole your tank would fall in and die, which was horrible and I apologize. Now, as long as you don't drive more than half of your Supertank over a hole, you'll stay alive.
"AFK Mode" has been renamed to "Chat-Only Mode" in the main menu. I still need to clean things up a little there (maybe an icon for the game modes that support keyboard and controller), but I hope this makes more sense.
Translation issues and places where the text was too big have been cleaned up.

First on my list to talk about is the updates to Happy Tanksgiving. I'm slowly getting Happy Tanksgiving's UI and features synced up with the other games, and some of the changes that you'll notice are:

Crowns now stack when a player wins multiple times (across any game)
The endgame stats and awards screen has been completely updated so it doesn't look completely horrible
A few awards had minor problems in certain situations, which are all fixed now
Lots of fixes to the codebase to make future updates faster and easier
The other thing to talk about is language support for the Party Pack. International support has been strong, so I've made it a priority to add translations for countries that have purchased the most copies. The languages that this game now supports are...

English
French
Korean
Spanish
German
Greek
I can't tell you what a painstaking process this is as someone who can only speak the tiniest bit of French, Italian, Spanish, and Korean, but all the main games are fully translated and hopefully I haven't made too many mistakes.

For the past week I've been doing a ton of work behind the scenes on a new mode for Splat Chat that a streamer suggested! It should be added to the pack before Friday, so if you already enjoy Splat Chat, prepare yourself this week for another ridiculous mode that you and your audience will love.

The Boston Festival of Indie games this Saturday at 10 AM Eastern!
It's one of the biggest indie game festivals in the world, and it's online-only this year, and pay-what-you-want. I was there last year and they used an amazing platform called Gather to run it. You can get your tickets and more info here: https://www.bostonfig.com/fest-homepage
There are always a ton of really unique games that make it in, and the 100-Player Twitch Chat Party Pack will be there as a showcase game! I'm super excited, and in preparation for Saturday, I've been doing a ton of UI cleanup and bug fixing.
If you're on the lookout for unique indie games to play on your stream, I seriously can't recommend this event enough, especially now that it's all-digital. It's better than PAX if I'm being honest.
For this update, here's what changed:
Splat Chat

Fixed a horrible bug where people could leave the island and hide. You could still kill them by turning on Kill Mode, but it's fixed now and no one can escape Splat Chat Island.
Added a tutorial for Splat Chat since I've seen a few people get slightly confused at the beginning. It takes about 10 seconds to watch and then you'll never see it again.
If you have less than 50 people in the chat, I adjusted the streamer start position so you don't start in the space between the anvils. You might think that this would be a safe space, since it's right on the line, but it's literally the only spot where everything will kill you immediately.
Minesweeper Extreme: 100

I cleaned up a few bugs but I forgot to write down what they were so uhhh, enjoy whatever it is I fixed!
General fixes

The main menu has gotten an overhaul, and I'm no artist, but I hope it looks a little bit nicer!
There are now animated screen transitions as you're moving from game to game, which also looks much nicer.
Continuing to fix bugs with the music system. I think I've got them all now!
Sometimes buttons were not being disabled properly and that is fixed now
Other minor UI tweaks

Major improvements for Minesweeper Extreme: 100 and Splat Chat

Today was hugely productive and I was able to get a ton of high-priority improvements and fixes done all over the place.
One big fix was adding volume control and a mute option for songs when the music box shows up. I also start the volume at 50%, so you can decrease, increase, or mute immediately. It's still a little ugly, but it's functional.
Another big one was adding more UI details for Minesweeper Extreme: 100. Earthquakes make way more sense now, and everything is explained below.
In terms of everything that got fixed or improved since yesterday's update:
Splat Chat

If less than 20 people are in the game, there are now 4 spaces to choose from instead of 2. Having only 2 spaces is still a lot of fun, but I think 4 spaces is going to make things a little more interesting than a binary choice.
If a viewer wins multiple Splat Chat games, they will keep stacking crowns with every win. It'll get ridiculous at 6 victories or more. The crowns also carry over into Minesweeper Extreme: 100, though they look a little different.
Movement speed has been increased for streamers.
Minesweeper Extreme: 100

The game now shows you the total number of mines on the board, the number of mines that have already been detonated, and the number of flags planted.
Added a seismograph system and a stopwatch to provide more information about earthquakes. The seismograph will start to move slightly when there are 30 seconds left, and at 5 seconds left an alert icon will appear (along with the screen shake at 3, 2, and 1 seconds).
Fixed a bug where Minesweeper Extreme: 100 wouldn't always talk to the high-score database properly, so it could fail to load a player's crowns.
Fixed a crash bug where if you had a really, really fast computer, sometimes a player joining would break the game.
Updated the UI placement of some buttons and pieces of information
Movement speed has been increased for streamers.
General fixes

Added a volume control system and mute option for the main menu soundtrack and in-game soundtrack.
Fixed a bug where an unmute wouldn't be remembered by the game in some specific cases
Made some really, really inefficient code run faster.
Updated the in-game credits
Minor UI tweaks

As you are aware, this game is designed for Streamers, and oh boy, do you all have a lot of differently-sized monitors. Everything here is made for 1080p resolution, which is still the most common monitor size by far, but I've been desperately trying to figure out a way to support different resolutions. The solution I've finally settled on is...

If you're on a 1080p or 4k monitor, the game will be fullscreen, and scaled to look like 1080p
If you're on any other resolution, the game go to windowed mode, and be 1920x1080 so it fits nicely on your monitor and you can move it around

Gamemaker Studio doesn't let you mess around with the Windows toolbar, so I needed to use a tool that someone else designed, which created a bug. If the game is in windowed mode, you'll see the maximize option in the toolbar, but if you click maximize, it will stretch the game's camera and everything will look weird. Unfortunately there's no perfect solution for this, so I added a warning during the initial connection phase telling you not to click maximize.
So hopefully you don't click maximize!
List of changes in version 0.56:

All monitors above 1080p are now supported and working properly!
Some sprites have been created for a potential 5th game: Rock Paper Scissors 100.

More German/Greek support + Minesweeper: Extreme 100 Improvements

Hope you've been having a good week! Some good news for those of you with a german or greek audience - Both Minesweeper: 100 and Splat Chat have full German and Greek language support! It took a lot of work, and I needed to adjust the fonts to account for Greek letters, but it's working really well and I'll get Happy Tanksgiving done soon.
I also fixed a lot of problems with Minesweeper Extreme: 100's explosions:

The explosions way too long (three seconds)
For a whole three seconds, anyone who walked into the fire would die
They were horrifically ugly placeholder art, done in MSpaint. It was one of the earliest sprites I made and oh boy was it horrible.
All three of those are fixed now. On the graphics side, I took a hint from Luftrausers and added some simple colored circles that feel way better. And now, people only die at the moment of explosion (even though a little bit of fire remains) so it's not unfair to players that were passing through way after the explosion.
That said, here are the full list of changes in version 0.55:

Luftrausers-style explosions in Minesweeper Extreme: 100
Minesweeper Extreme: 100 explosions kill people at the instant of mine detonation, and no longer
Tombstones in Minesweeper Extreme: 100 are fixed so they don't cover over the actual numbers
German and Greek language support for Minesweeper Extreme: 100 and Splat Chat
Fixed a Splat Chat bug where you could kill all your viewers with Kill Mode, but the game wouldn't end immediately
So much code cleanup
Started language translation work on Happy Tanksgiving

The first version of Splat Chat is almost done and I'll have it in your hands in just 2 days! Based on some early feedback I think you and your stream are really going to like it. And if you haven't caught previous updates, the best way I can describe is - it's my 100-player take on Mario Party's It's the Pits (see video below), but instead, heavy objects fall from the sky and splat you. It's simple and super fun.

This week I was also able to make some improvements to the other games as well. The biggest was that I've finally re-implemented screenshake and it feels really good. It's presence was noticeably felt, so I'm glad I could get that worked out quickly.
One last major note: I will be doubling the price of the party pack soon! If you got in early, you're lucky you did because I'm going to keep add more and more unique games that can only experienced with a big audience. It's going to be a fun journey and thanks for being an early supporter!
Fixes and additions in version 0.53 are

Screenshake is back in all the games!
Fixed a few messages in Minesweeper Extreme: 100 that were using the old coordinate system instead of the new Battleship system.
Added a few blocks of text for other languages than English
Looooots of code cleanup so future games can be built faster
Even UI cleanup. I can't believe how far we've come here.
Tons more work on Splat Chat before release
Fixed some bugs with the permanent crown system for viewers in the chat, assuming they win a game of Happy Tanksgiving

It's called Splat Chat and it's a simple game of luck and survival for 100 people in your Twitch Chat. The best way I can describe is - it's my 100-player take on Mario Party's It's the Pits (see video below), but instead, heavy objects fall from the sky and splat you. It's simple and super fun.

On top of all the work on Splat Chat, I've spent a ton of time building out some systems that will be implemented soon. The biggest is a tool that adds somewhat-intelligent bots to all the games. I figure it will give all streamers a way to somewhat experience the chaos of a full house, even if they only have a small audience.
Fixes and additions in version 0.52 are

Added a cool Steel-Battalion-style lock when certain keys are disabled in Minesweeper Extreme: 100
Actually for real fixed the bug where 2-factor authentication would die and the game would be stuck
Fixed a crash bug in Minesweeper Extreme: 100's AFK mode. Whoops!
Fixed a crash bug in Happy Tanksgiving where every one in a thousand times, a bullet would lose it's ID and crash the whole game. Still no idea how it's happening, but it won't crash the game anymore!

I hope you had a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! I'm back from vacation and working on a new game that will be added to this pack next week. It's called Splat Chat, and it's an extremely simple game where heavy objects fall from the sky each round, and everyone needs to pick a random square to move to and hope they survive. The games it's closest to are Perfect Match in Fall Guys and It's the Pits in Mario Party. Imagine a very, very simple version of this, supporting 100 players:

I'm really far in development, but the beta version is not done yet. It should be in your hands by the end of next week.
I also fixed a massive connection bug, where sometimes the 2-factor authentication would fail and you'd be stuck. It took me months to figure out, but hopefully it's gone forever.
Outside of all the work on that, the biggest change is actually adding buttons on screen for arrow key movement for Minesweeper Extreme: 100. Hopefully this makes it easier for people to figure out how to control their character (WASD won't work because D is for Dig) when they are juggling a million things on stream.
Other fixes in version 0.51 are

Fixed a bug where 2-factor authentication would die and the game would be stuck
More UI cleanup on Minesweeper Extreme: 100
Way more translations have been added for French/Spanish/Korean
Added art and animation for keyboard keys
Lots of code cleanup and art cleanup

Huge news for you Minesweeper Extreme: 100 fans around the globe.

The UI for this game has been completely overhauled and made simpler for everyone to understand. The game now links to a website with full rules and animations, so everything is easier to figure out and your viewers don't have to feel as rushed. Everyone seems to do well with how this works in Kukoro, so that'll work for me too.
There is now full support in Minesweeper Extreme: 100 for French, Korean, and Spanish languages. This took a ton of time to work through, but it's done and barring a few Korean issues (the bot can't send korean messages through Twitch chat for some reason) it all works flawlessly. Hope Google Translate didn't trick me anywhere!
I also made it so Happy Tanksgiving will unlock when 10 people play Minesweeper Extreme: 100 at the same time. That game literally does not work with a small number of players, so I made the hard choice to lock it away until the game knows you have the right number of viewers.
These fixes took me all week, and I'm so excited to finally share this new version with you. Here is the full list of changes:

Known issues in version 0.50:

An update to Game Maker Studio 2 broke my awesome screenshake and I haven't been able to re-implement it. Curses!
