It seems like a lie that it's been almost a year and a half since my supermarket was released in early access, but it really has.
During this time different features have been added, new items, new products, new ways of customizing the supermarket and even the possibility of opening a café inside the supermarket.
Thanks to everyone who took part in this adventure and gave feedback, especially on discord!
Does this mean that the game will no longer be updated? Not a chance!
I still have a few more things I'd love to add, including new achievements and modding to allow any product to be added to the game. In addition, optimizations will still be made and bugs fixed!
Sometimes it took longer than usual to release what I wanted, but overall, I'm quite happy with the result considering that I didn't have any outside help in the development apart from the support of the wonderful community in fixing bugs, translations and coming up with great ideas. Many thanks to everyone! 💖

Quick hotfix for some game issues that would make the game unplayable.
🪲 Bugs Smashed

Fixed a bug where employees would get stuck around the escalators in an eternal search for the dirt lost underneath.
Fixed a bug where the game would crash right after loading a save due to the painting system.
Fixed a problem where players (as clients) couldn't update employee task priorities.
Fixed a bug where the price paid/displayed at the delivery kiosk was the buy price and not the sell price.

Products with a higher price will not be ordered.
Fixed a problem where the shopping cart was available in the store. This is something that will come in the future, but at the moment was available for purchase by mistake, opsi D:
For those who have already purchased and have one in the store, you will keep it and see the future improvements on it patch after patch until the official release.

Game Changes
Delivery Services
Delivery services allow you to increase the sales of your store.

The delivery kiosk has been added back to the store.
Delivery services can be enabled or disabled in the Services application on the player's tablet.
Now players can interact with the delivery kiosk to check and fulfill current delivery requests.
Products must be placed on the Delivery Kiosk table to mark the delivery as ready for pickup.
Store Customization
Something that has always been asked for is to be able to customize the color on the floors and walls. Today I bring you the new paint roller that allows players to choose any unique color and customize the store the way they want.
This is purely cosmetic and doesn't affect customer sales in any way!

New painting application added to player's tablet.
After activating it through the app, players have access to a color picker palette to choose any color they want.
Using the paint roller, the player can paint any floor or interior/exterior wall with any unique color.
Now is possible to change the store name in the administration app alongside with the color that shows up outside the store.
I'm looking forward to see prints of some crazy store customizations!! ❤️
Wall Props Changes
This is a change that was requested by some players and will allow you to customize the outside of the store in addition to the new colors!

Wall props (like paintings or symbols) can now be placed outside of the store.

Game Changes
Staff
Previously, each employee had a single, player-defined task. There is now a priority system within each area of the supermarket.

Employees can now be assigned to a specific area. For now, Supermarket or Coffee.
Employees can now have different priorities for each task inside their area:

High
Standard
Low
Disabled Quick explanation: The employee will check which of the high priority tasks needs to be done and is more urgent. If there is nothing to do, he will check the default priority and repeat the process until he reaches the low priority. It is worth mention that employees can still be assigned to a single task. For example, assigning an employee to the cash register while blocking all other tasks will make the employee stay in the cash register until his priorities change or he gets tired.
Two new tasks have been added to the coffee area:

Serving - Includes handing out menus, taking orders and fetching/delivering food to customers.
Cooking - Includes making food or drinks, cutting and sorting in food displays where possible. If you find some wrong behavior in this new tasks or want to provide feedback on how to improve them, feel free to send me a message! 😁
A new tab has been added to the employee application, where it is possible to check all priorities of all employees at the same time and define their priorities for each task.
Employees will no longer take into account other objects that are being interacted by other employees. This means, no more 5 employees trying to restock the same shelf. 🥳
Employees will now prioritize litter, paper, and dropped bags that are closer to them.
Employees will now prioritize trash bins that are more full.
Employees will now prioritize chairs that are more comfortable and closer to them to take a break.
Employees will now properly handle products left on the street. They will move the products to desired racks and eventually to racks with empty spaces.
Customers

Customers will now start to leave if the store is about to close. Be careful, because closing the store abruptly can cause all the customers to rush to the cash registers to pay and leave.
The customer's coffee product interface will only appear when the player is close enough to the customer. This avoids the crazy icon madness when you have multiple customers in the coffee area.
The coffee products delivered to the customer will disappear from your head instead of having the product there with a check mark. This should further help with the mess of product icons that appear when customers are too close to each other.
Others

Updated engine version. Should fix some crashes and issues.
Moved Apple Juice category to Drinks and Bottles.
Temporarily removed the delivery kiosk from the store. It will come back in the next update fully implemented with the delivery services.
🪲 Bugs Smashed

Fixed an issue where the employees were not going to the cash register with more customers at the checkout waiting.
Fixed an issue where employees would start restocking the same shelf all together after some minutes in-game.
Fixed some weird pathing of customers and employees when moving around coffee tables and chairs.
Fixed an issue where products in delivery guys hands were counting as available products for recipes in coffee area.
Fixed some wrong scaling text in some languages.
Fixed some wrong/missing translations.
For the next patch, I'll be focusing on adding new items and products, as well as the long-awaited delivery services! Also will be taking a look at performance issues reported!

Game Changes
Customers

Customers now only enter a queue when they are close enough to the object they want to interact with. This should stop customers from being stuck around some objects while waiting for the queue to decrease. This was very noticeable once the player unlocked the second floor.
Added a scroll bar to employees affected when changing the schedule of multiple employees at the same time.
Employees

Employees will now check if the product they are placing on the shelf is the product wanted.
Employees will no longer move to the store entrance when the save gets loaded.
Added a new priority task list where the player can define the tasks the employee will do (lower priority, default, or higher priority) or not do.
The UI on employee stats has new icons with tooltips.
Cash Register

Products spawned no longer get destroyed if the player leaves the cash register. This means you can resume if you need to leave for some reason.
If the player leaves the cash register after scanning the last product, it no longer stops the payment sequence.
Employees can resume attending after the player leaves the cash register.
Delivery

Delivery people's movement has been updated to avoid some wrong positioning.
Fridge

Added a configuration option to the fridge.
Translations

Improved some PT translations.
🪲 Bugs Smashed

Fixed scale on the interaction key for gadgets and cloth shelves.
Fixed Onion not moving at the cash register.
Fixed an issue that was disconnecting players when some new product was unlocked.
Fixed an issue where unlocking new products was not working properly when the language was Japanese.
Fixed an issue where the wanted products assigned by the players were not saving properly. This was fixed both for shelves and storage racks.
Fixed an issue where employees were not carrying the maximum products they could while moving products between storage racks.
Fixed an issue where employees were placing products in the wrong assigned slot on the storage racks.
Fixed an issue where delivery guys were placing products in random positions inside the storage rack.
Fixed an issue where employees would carry “nothing” if the product they were supposed to pick from the storage rack was not available anymore.
Fixed an issue where dirt on the floor had a weird metallic glow.
Fixed an issue where the products that the player placed on the storage rack were not placed in the right assigned slot, resulting in two identical products assigned to two different slots.
Fixed an issue where customers would get stuck if the player removed the self-service cash register while the customer was moving towards it.
Fixed an issue with multiple dropdown lists where the last option was not visible.
Fixed an issue where the enter/exit hours slider in bulk employee schedule change was not properly initialized with the correct open/close hours of the supermarket.

This is the biggest update coming to the supermarket and brings the game one step close to the final vision.

Something I will be reworking in the next weeks is the reputation system.
As more and more items are added in, the unlock time between products is too small for the player to handle the new product without having unhappy customers in the store.
For this, the player will now win reputation stars that will be added infinitely and those will allow the player to unlock any product he wants.
Also, here is the roadmap of features coming next:
- Rework on the current reputation system in order to accommodate new product
- Build own supermarket and customize walls, floors and more
- Delivery Services
- Achievements
Game Changes
Coffee Expansion
Now there is the possibility to run a coffee shop inside your supermarket. This means you need to attend customers, take their orders and serve them the products they desire. The products available are yours to decide. Also, if you decide to run only the coffee and no grocery store, that's also possible! At the moment employees cannot be assign to any coffee shop task but that's something changing in the near future!
Player can enable coffee area after the first day in the administration app.
Grocery store can now be disabled also in the administration app.
Crafting Products

In this expansion, some products (presented below) will require to be crafted/baked.
Each product have now some recipe that requires some products in order to craft. This products can be in the storage racks and don't require the player to being holding them in their hands.
Some products will required to be cut in a cutting board, before served or even stored in the display shelf. Quick note: Like I mention above, the reputation system will be reworked and you will be able to choose what products you want to unlock at any point in the game. This will improve the recipes since you will also be able to pick what products you must unlock to craft some recipe you want.
Coffee Menu Application

Added to the tablet a new application called "Coffee Menu". This App is unlocked when you enable the coffee area inside your administration application.
Inside the application you will be able to:

Add/remove products to/from your coffee menu
Change the product price.
Products Price Customization
Alongside with the possibility to change every product price, customers will also take into consideration for how much you are selling the product and how much it costs daily.
Products prices are now applied daily instead of hourly.
Players can change all products selling price.
While changing the price there is a face reflecting the current selling price compared to the buy price. This will help identifying when you are pushing too much on the price or making a good discount price!
Customers will take into consideration the current selling price and how different it is from the current daily price of that product (buy price). This will force the player to run low prices to avoid unhappy customers or keep updating daily the prices to reflect the current market situation.
Customers now have a tolerance to high prices. Abusing it may end up with the customer being unhappy and take no product at all.
Customers now can take more products than they initially intended. This mean the player can run some discount promotions on some products to quickly empty the stock of some product.
Any product price change will show a notification to other players telling who changed the price of what product. When players are grabbing some product from the shelf, they will check the price of that product. New emotes were added to reflect what the customer thinks of the price:

Green Sign - Customer thinks the product cheap and decided to grab more than they initially wanted.
Yellow Sign - Customer thinks the product expensive and they are taking less than they initially wanted.
Red Sign - Customer thinks the product is abusive and is not taking any product at that selling price. If no sign shows up, means the customer is accepting that product price and is taking the full amount intended of that product. Also, this will affect the happiness of the customer and eventually the reputation gain. If the customer finds expensive, he will be unhappy while in the other hand, cheaper promotions will keep customers happier and increase the reputation gain.
Warehouse Stock Manager

New service Stock Manager added to Services Application. Activating this service will enable the Warehouse Stock Application.
This stock manager will automatically buy the products you want when some criteria is met.
The stock manager will check if he needs to buy new products every hour.
If there is not enough money, the stock manager will send a message to warn the players.
In this new application you will be able to:

Check ALL the stock you have of ANY product.
Turn On/Off the auto-buy of any product.
Set the minimum stock level to order that product.
Set the maximum price to order that product.
Set the quantity to order.
Both the minimum stock level and the maximum price must be met for the stock manager to buy the product.
New Game Customization
This will allow the players to customize uniquely their game experience while providing also some predefined game modes like easy, normal and hard.
When starting a new game, in normal mode, the initial money was bumped from ~~$15K~~ → $20K.
When starting a new game, options menu is now available under the store name.
Different presets can now be picked (Easy, Normal and Hard).
Game mode called Sandbox is available where the player have unlimited money, reputation and everything will be unlocked since the beginning. Some other parameters can still be changed with sandbox selected like reputation multiplier, customers frequency or happiness modifier.
Beside the presets, the player can customize the following parameters:

Imagine you want to start with employees right from the beginning? Just unlock all tablet applications and hire employees right away!
Want to switch to coffee shop since the beginning and ignore grocery? Unlock all tablet applications, go to administration app and switch them!
Want to spam your game with thousands of customers and maybe crash the game 💀? Sure, you can do this but... heh never mind, just bump the Customer Frequency and check it!

New Snap/Place-On-Top Mechanics
With this update, not only new products were added but new mechanics to snap and place on top were added also.
Some objects can now be snapped to other objects. For example chairs to tables.
Some objects can now be placed on top of others. For example, some small plants, coffee machines, cutting board and others can be placed on top of coffee tables or counters. Both this mechanics will be further improved in later versions to being able to snap shelves to other shelves or the introducing of new cosmetic objects just for decoration purposes.
Player

Added the ability to control the Field of View (FOV) in settings.
Punching other player is now triggering a hit animation.
When placing/moving an object, the camera will apply slight zoom and offset.
New crosshair while placing/moving object to help with the placement.
[Multiplayer] Now weapon is syncing while aiming in all clients.
Employees

Employees can now hold more than one box in hands (10 products) up to 3 boxes (30 products) like the player. This is increased by the employee motivation stat. The maximum 30 maximum products is achieved when the employee reaches 80 motivation. Quick note: the movement will be capped when holding more than one box at the time (like the player is) but this will speed up restocking, meaning you probably gonna need less employees restocking than before.
Employees will now trigger the street trash animation when interacting with it.
Now when skipping night, both employee recruitment and employee training will fast forward accordingly to the time skipped.
Employees resting will not use any chair that is snapped to a coffee table.
Customers

Customers cannot have player or employee skins anymore.
Customer AI got tweaked so they get stuck less often.
Tutorial

Tutorial has suffered a little rework in order to accept the placement of the new different capacity items (like small, normal and large shelves).
Skip night don't show up until you get to the tutorial point where it's time to open the store or intentionally skip tutorial.
When skipping tutorial, it will now show a prompt to confirm that the player really wants to skip it.
Cloud Saving

Now the games are stored in Steam Cloud. This means you can jump between different computers or even reinstall the game that your saves are safely stored in cloud.
Steam Deck & Gamepad
Officially going to support steam deck from now on.
Now when playing in steam deck, the keyboard will automatically open when some input is required from the player (like write store name).
Virtual cursor will now be visible since the beginning without needing to press any button.
New icons were added to confirmation dialogs (like hire, fire, skip tutorial, etc.).
User Interface

Added new HUD showing interaction keys every moment on the right bottom corner. This will adapt based on current context and controller being used.
Interaction indicators now switch between keyboard/mouse and gamepad.
There are new object indicators when using keyboard/mouse.
When editing, now there is a selling price indicator so the player can check the value he will get before selling it.
All Scroll views got their movement clamped while the scroll sensibility got increased slightly. This will avoid infinite scrolling and clumsy scroll movement.
Shelf/Storage Rack configuration UI now show the keys to interact around.
Added indicator in the shelf/storage rack configuration UI when hovering some product.
Added gamepad icons and support in edit mode, cash register and skip night.
Multiplayer Invites

Now when accepting any game invitation with the game close, after steam launch the game, the game will automatically join your friend that sent the invitation without require to sent it again and accept in the lobby.

Updated the engine version. Should fix some crashes.
Updated the game version watermark on bottom left to something simpler.
Old music were removed while new ones were added in-game. They are completely copyright free.

Before I tell you what is new in this patch, I would like to thank you all for your continued support, especially in our Official Discord Server.
This month hasn't been easy and I've unfortunately slowed down the development of the game, but not on purpose or because I'm bored with development.
As some of you already know, I've been developing this game on my own, and it's not even my day job. I'm currently a teacher at two universities at the same time and since the semester is ending, I had a lot of exams and works to grade...
Today, I'm bringing you character customization! At the moment there are only a few items available, but I want to expand this in the future to be able to fully customize not only your character's clothes, but also your staff with some fancy stuff. With this, I'm also introducing some companion pets that will follow you around the store 😁.
Currently I'm also working on the next update that brings:

Ability to customize the price of products.
Delivery service where you will have to pack some products and hand them over to the delivery driver.
Warehouse services where you will be able to set some minimum threshold product quantities and those will be ordered automatically.
New Features/Improvements
General Updates

(Super Experimental) Increased the maximum number of players to 8!
Engine version has been updated. This should fix some crashes.
Redesigned main menu with new interface.
When hiring a security guard, no money is paid immediately. The cost is deducted when the hour expires or the service is cancelled.
Tablet Wardrobe application has been reworked to match the new customization settings.
New Christmas category added to Furniture application.
Furniture categories are now organized correctly. Seasonal categories such as Halloween and Christmas are the last.
Both main menu and game screen have been adapted for this holiday season🎄.
Employees now have a proper hat to get in the spirit.
Delivery guy will now first search for racks where the product is defined to be (by rack configuration) and is already there. If not found, he will search where the product is wanted and some slot of that storage rack is empty. Finally, if none of these conditions is met, it will randomly place the boxes if available, otherwise it will drop the boxes outside the store.

Some seasonal items have been added to the furniture. This includes

Fixed issue where booth products were not working properly when customers chose to interact.
Fixed issue where arcade machines did not interact when they should (memory leak).

Today I'm bringing you a rework of the inputs and also support for gamepads!
This took more time than I expected, but I think it's in good shape to officially support gamepads.
I would also like to introduce a new beta branch. As some of you may know, I'm currently developing this game all by myself, and sometimes I rush some updates that haven't had enough testing. Some of you have been kind enough to ask how you can help. So I'm going to create this branch on steam that will give you access to the latest builds for testing!

New Features/Improvements
General Updates

The Halloween theme has been removed from the game. The items and furniture are still in the game!
Updated game engine. Should fix some crashes.
The input system has been reworked. Now you can remap things like the character's WASD movement.
Updated the controllers section in the settings menu.
Gamepad is now supported. 🎮🥳
Issues Fixed

Fixed some translations.
Fixed an issue where the delivery guy put the products on the wrong shelf..
Fixed an issue issue where the large storage rack was not working properly.
Fixed an issue where the player could jump or punch while interacting with the cash register.
Gamepad 🎮
From now on I'm officially supporting gamepads. No matter if it is xbox, playstation or even nintendo switch gamepad.
Everything should work properly for you to just connect your gamepad to the computer and just play.
There is a virtual cursor to interact with the tablet components, while also some buttons to speed up the process, like ordering x100 of some product at once, just like it was with the keyboard/mouse using CTRL and SHIFT while clicking on some product.
In the game there are also changes where you can just switch between keyboard and gamepad, the game will automatically detect the new inputs and adapt the game and interface for that gamepad.
Something that's missing that I'll be adding in the future is the icons for each gamepad. For example, the default interaction button in the gamepads is the south button, which is
for Xbox or
for Playstation.
Also remember that you can reassign any button you want in the settings menu!
I hope to get some feedback from players who decide to give the gamepad a try. ❤️
Beta Branch
So you are interested in helping test new builds before they are released to the general public? That's great, thank you very much for your help!
You can access the beta branch in Steam.
Go to your library, right click on My SuperMarket and then Properties...
After that you should see a tab called "Betas".
All you have to do is type in "mysmbetatester" and click "Check Code".
This will unlock the beta branch, where you just need to press the new button and it will start installing the beta branch. In your library you should see the name of the game like "My SuperMarket [beta]".
How do I leave the beta branch?
Go back to the same tab and in the first field that shows beta participation just select "None". The game will revert back to the normal branch.
In the future, if you want, you can simply select the beta branch again to test some new features!
Reporting bugs in the beta branch
In order to keep this under control, I ask that you use the "beta-branch" discord channel to discuss or report games found in this particular release.

What's coming up next?

I'm already planning a Halloween update for the 27th of October with new items and products. I'll also be introducing new product categories such as glasses stands, flowers, balloons and even gumball machines 😎!
I'll also provide a roadmap of features and updates I plan to implement in the game between now and the full release in summer 2024.
This roadmap could easily change as you all give me such great ideas that I'm always tempted to implement them before the planned ones 😅
In any case, if you have ideas, keep them coming! The best thing about being in Early Access is that we get to make a better and better game 😁
New Features/Improvements
General stuff

Updated engine version. This should fix some crashes.
Customers

The customer path has been greatly improved. They will now try to grab the products they want from the nearest shelf. This will prevent them from walking around the store like crazy in a random path, which would end up taking longer to buy what they want.
Employees

Employees will now display an icon over their head when they are on break.
New filters have been added to the staff list. This allows players to quickly get to employees who are doing a specific task, or even those who are doing nothing.
It's now possible to schedule multiple people at the same time. The previously added filters apply to this new window where it is possible to check which employees will be affected by the change and even toggle each employee individually.
Storage Racks

The player can now configure the storage rack to define which products will go there. This will be done by the employees who restock the shelves. When the shelves are full, the workers will try to reorganize the shelves according to the criteria set by the player.
In-Game Console

There is now a new in-game console (F1 by default) that allows the player to enter some codes to trigger some effects. This will help players who are testing something out, as well as those who have been asking for a way to cheat the game and make some extra money. Now you can easily get that extra money if that's something you want to do! 😁
Issues Fixed

Fixed an issue where trash papers and dropped bags were getting stuck in the middle of the escalators.
Fixed an issue where loading the employee list for the first time after loading a game was incredibly slow.
Fixed an issue where employees would get stuck when interacting with a trash can.
Fixed an issue where players could get disconnected when visiting the cashier.
Fixed an issue where the canvas above the worker's head would not rotate properly in the local player.
Fixed an issue where players were getting disconnected after the employee interacted with the shelf.
Fixed an issue where players were getting disconnected when spawning an item at the cash register.
Fixed an issue where players could jump from the bus station to outside of the playable area.
Fixed an issue where the dirt wasn't spawning on the 2nd floor, but on the ground floor instead.
Fixed an issue where the client-side player would get disconnected when hiring an employee.

Before the notes, there is currently a bug when loading your saved game that does not load everything properly and your store will be empty. No furniture, no products, not even lights.
I'm already trying to find the source of the problem and hopefully this will be fixed in this latest version (0.4.33).
If this happens to you, please don't exit to the menu, save the game, or even submit a bug report in-game. Close the game with ALT+F4 and send the save file directly to me via Discord or email to [email protected].
I'm currently releasing new versions every few hours to get to the bottom of this.

General

The engine version has been updated to the latest version. This should help with some random crashes that some players were experiencing.
Some optimizations have been made to improve performance. This should be especially noticeable as your store grows.
The navigation system is now loaded from a pre-generated file instead of being calculated at runtime. This will improve performance and also the frame drops when loading the game or even expanding the store.
Added missing translations for the banking application.
Reputation drop is now halved. This doesn't mean it's easier to progress, but it's easier to keep your current reputation without dropping too much if things get out of hand.
Now there is a real bus stop in front of the shop! 🚏
Thieves now move much slower and have a different animation than other customers.
New Services

There is a new application in the tablet called 'Services'. This will provide some services that you can hire to improve your store.
The first service is 'Security'. With this service you will have 24/7 protection against thieves. Don't hit the cop outside... 👌
Currently, I've planned two more services. One is a delivery service, where you will have to handle some delivery packages to be handed to the deliveryman.
Another is a stock management tool, where you will be able to define a minimum stock for each product and they will be bought when the stock gets below the threshold.
Staff Training

Now you can train your employees.
You can choose which trait you want to train and the amount of time/money you want to spend. While the employee is training, he will be out of town 🏃‍♂️
Bug fixes

Rain in the store? I called the plumber and he fixed it. 😎
Fixed an issue where employees would get stuck against each other in the middle of the store.
Money changes are now displayed in the bottom left corner in order instead of all at once.
Fixed an issue where you could interact with the open/close button from outside the store.
Fixed an issue with the store sound announcer after expanding the store.
Fixed an issue where the player was disconnected when unlocking a store expansion.
As for the second floor store expansion, I'm still working on it! I just need more time to finish it!

What's coming next?

Store second floor - It will be unlocked in a future small patch. Probably between this week and next week.
More functionality in staff - The staff is not even close to what is ideal. The next goal is to implement some way to train them to avoid firing and search/contract new employees, but also more complexity on their tasks.
More Furniture - New furniture is coming along with a new product cart I've been working on for the last week. You will be able to move multiple boxes of products in the cart. This will be used later for customer shopping carts ❤️
More Polish - Gonna spend some time polishing several things and fixing some visual issues. Expect new animations and interactions! And also a permanent solution for the thieves 😁.
New Features & Balancing
Tablet Homepage

All applications will now display the unlock requirements on the tablet homepage. This should make it easier for new players to know when to unlock each feature.
Hovering over the reputation stars will now display the current star percentage.
Banking Application (Tablet)
This application will allow players to check some details such as:

Current balance
Daily income versus expenses
Request/Repay loans
Check loan details
List of all transactions in the supermarket.
Currently in the banking app is possible to obtain 3 different loans:

$10.000 - 10% interest rate - 24 days to pay
$25.000 - 12.5% interest rate - 36 days to pay
$50.000 - 15% interest rate - 48 days to pay
Probably in the future I'll add a feature where the player chooses the amount he wants and the days to pay and the bank automatically calculates the interest rate for that specific loan.
Construction Application (Tablet)

New application that allows players to expand their current supermarket space. Unlocked when you reach your second reputation star for the first time.
Currently, you can expand your ground floor to double the size of your supermarket. This will increase the rent.
New alert message when a player upgrades the store. Shows the new rent.
Currently this is limited to the first floor, and there's not much to do, but I've been working on the second floor for the past two weeks with some surprises! 😍
Another thing this application will hold is the ability to customize the store. This means different walls, floors, colors, ...
Gonna leave a little gif here showing what's coming next when the second floor is available 😁.
Bankruptcy
Before, you couldn't really lose the game in any way. Even if your balance went negative, it would be okay because you would probably be able to make it back in the next few minutes.
This is something I want to keep in the game since the main goal here is for you to have fun and not to get into a fully complex management game.
Now, you will go bankrupt if your balance stays below zero for seven days in a row. If that happens, it's game over.
There will be new warnings when this happens and also when there are 3 and 1 days left for bankruptcy.
One way to combat immediate bankruptcy would be to take out a loan in the new banking app, but remember that this is only a temporary solution.
Short version:

New bankruptcy scenario that happens when your bank balance is below zero for 7 consecutive days.
New bankruptcy warning notifications.
Report bug in-game
This will help me analyze your save file and get straight to the problem and fix it as fast as possible!
Please use this feature while you are in the game, describing the problem and how to reproduce it if possible!

New option to report a bug in the game.
The in-game main menu has also been reworked. It now includes this new Report Bug feature.
Customers
Those nasty customers getting 25 pineapples, apples or milk are gone! 👌

Fixed a problem with the customer's shopping list, where saving and reloading the game would add the basic products (like apples, pineapples, milk, ...) to the available products.
Fixed a problem where some customers would get stuck in the self-service checkout.
Employees

Employees will now avoid tasks that others are doing. No more multiple workers interacting with the same objects and doing the same task over and over again.
Workers will now find the nearest janitor's cart instead of a random one.
Employees will show up on time. Even if they skip the night.
(Temporary) Workers can now grab items that are out of reach. This includes papers or product bags that are sandwiched between items. This is a temporary solution, but in the future the plan is to let the player know that it's out of reach and they should take a look at it. This will also help with customers in the future.
Thief chance lowered even more. New mechanism coming soon!
Confirmation Dialogs

Now there are real confirmation dialogs for some actions. For example, when you fire an employee, take a loan or even pay back the loan, you have to confirm the action. This should help to avoid accidentally hitting some button 😎
Audio

Others

Added on-screen message to warn the player to restart the game due to lighting when changing the quality setting.
Increased lighting capacity on balanced settings. This should avoid running into these lighting problems.
Bug fixes

Fixed bug where interacting with shelf near an employee would block all player interactions with all objects.
Fixed bug where player/employee could place products of different types on the shelf if the employee changed their type.
Fixed a bug where employees would get stuck if the trash can was sold when the employee was about to interact with it.
Saved games should no longer show negative products on shelves!
Fixed a problem where clients would get disconnected when opening/closing game settings.
Fixed a problem where it was not possible to interact with the shop switch until the player opened the tablet for the first time.

Game Improvement
Employees

For new saves, the staff application will now be unlocked upon earning the first reputation star.
Employees got their scanning speed increased greatly. Most of the feedback I got was the cashier employees were pretty much useless early game, this should help! You should also notice bigger differences when employees with higher speed/attention work as cashiers.
Employees resting time was greatly decreased. Now the average time will be around 45 minutes (in-game time) , possibly decreased by comfort furniture like the chair or the new brand couch 😎!
Employees will now wander around the store while recovering their stamina (if no chair/couch) was found.
Employees with 80 or more attention will not fail a single scan. Combined with speed they are guaranteed to get bonus tips from customers.
Speed traits on employees are now taken into consideration when moving around the store. More speed equals faster movement.
Employees will try to sort the products in hands into the existing stock of the storage racks. If no stock found, they will try to find a random available slot in a random one. If this also fails, they will drop the products in the street rack outside the store.
Employees will now clean the closest dirt instead of random ones around the store.
Employees will finish their current task (like grab paper, clean dirt or pick products) before going off duty.
Customers

Customers will now take into consideration the distance to the trash bins when thinking if they should drop or not the papers in the ground.
Runners will now tend to ignore the distance to trash bins (since they are busy people 😅)
Thieves' chances are lowered. I understand those are frustrating to deal with since you need to drop whatever you are doing in order to chase them, and so, until we get some mechanism to fight them more effectively, the chance is dropped.
Object Placement

When in Edit Mode, there is now a white indicator around the object that is currently selected. This will help some moments where you can't be really sure what you are moving or selling.
User Interface

Now the commands to place, rotate, align and duplicate objects are shown when placing or moving objects.
Little rework on the tutorial interface, now it's constantly showing the key to continue and also showing the key to skip the tutorial.
Others

Change the default value, for new players, of the QOL option "Always Run" to true. This makes your character run always instead of the need of pressing SHIFT constantly...
Bug Fixes
Player

Fixed issues where picking up bags or papers while standing on top of them would get the player stuck.
Customers

Fixed an issue where the customers would be jumping from cash register to cash register because they were not accounting for the new queue size with his change.
Fixed an issue where if the player would hit a thief inside and outside the store, would drop duplicate drop bags.
Employees

Fixed issue where employees would not go off duty when times came.
Fixed issue where employees would not go to work when the player skipped night.
Fixed an issue where the customers would not spawn their products when attended by employees.
Fixed an issue where products would get stuck at the cash register.
Fixed an issue where products would be negative at the storage rack (Hopefully). Need feedback in case this happens again!
Fixed an issue where employees' salaries would still be paid even if they were off-duty.
Fixed an issue where employees would block the cash register while resting in the same place when no seat was found.
Fixed an issue where employees would get stuck at their tasks or around the store.
Fixed an issue where employees at maximum attention levels would still fail to scan products.
Fixed an issue where if an employee tried to grab paper or a bag at the same time as another, he would get stuck in an animation loop.
Fixed ghost employees on the client-side.
Language

Fixed some missing characters in Chinese and Japanese.
Others

Fixed an issue where trash papers were outside of the playable area, unreachable to the player.
Fixed an issue where different keyboard layouts (such as QUERTZ) would not show the properly assigned keys in the settings.
Fixed an issue where if the store was open 24H the save button was always visible, triggering/spamming the store schedule changed message constantly.

What's coming next?

Store Expansion - It's time to expand the store. This gonna be released in two separated parts, one where it will be possible to expand the store in the ground floor and next, different floors!
Bank Loan and Bankruptcy - One of the most asked features you asked is the possibility of taking loans. It's coming! Also need to introduce some kind of bankruptcy 😅
More Furniture - Expect a bunch of new furniture in the next big patch. In all categories!
New Features
Staff Application (Tablet)
New Staff application will be unlocked when achieving half your first reputation star.
In this app you will find two tabs:

Recruitment - Where you can post job ads, spend money, and search for candidates. The number of candidates that apply is influenced by two factors: the amount of time or money spent advertising and the reputation of the store. Stores with a higher reputation will attract job candidates with better qualifications.
Employees - This is where you can find a list of all the currently employed workers. You can review task assignments, current progress, and schedules. You can assign a work schedule for each employee and task. In addition, you have the option to terminate an employee's services if you no longer require them.
The current employee tasks are:

Restocking - Check the empty shelves and get the products restock. In first place, if some product is available in a storage rack and not placed in a shelf, the employee will try to get those first. If there aren't new products, they will try to restock the shelf with lowest product quantity.
Cleaning - While cleaning, employees will complete four tasks to keep the store clean: cleaning dirt from the floor, picking up papers, retrieving any bags dropped by customers, and emptying the trash bins.
Cashier - The employee will go to one of the available cash registers and scan all the products.
Employees
Each employee will have three main stats:

Speed - Affects the speed of tasks like scanning products at the cash register or cleaning the store.
Attention - Affects the attention to details like the products on the cash register. This will make the employees scan the products correctly without missing anything. And don't forget, a perfect attendance at the cash register means a bonus tip 🧙.
Motivation - Affects the overall performance of the employee. Less stamina and happiness will be consumed while doing the tasks around the store.
Beside that main stats, there are two other stats that define how employees behave:

Stamina - Performing tasks consumes stamina. When this stamina gets too low, the worker will look for a comfort item (like a chair) to sit on and regain some stamina. The task being performed will be paused until the worker has recovered.
Happiness - Overall happiness of the worker. For now, it's just a base stat that is consumed while working in the shop. If the happiness gets too low, you may end up losing the employee.
Both these stats are recovered during rest or when the employee is off duty.
Would like to leave it here noted that the current system is a base for further exploration and will be improved over time. It is by no means finished.
Also, you can't really train employees at the moment. You will have to hire new employees with new stats.
Staff Comfort Items
Now staff will actively seek comfort while resting. Items while in the chair will help increase the stamina recovery. More items will be added soon! 😁
Notifications
New notifications have been added to let you know some store management important decisions:

Recruitment Started - Who started the recruitment and how much it cost.
Recruitment Finished - Recruitment process finished and how much candidates it found.
Employee Hired - Who hired who!
Employee Fired - Who fired who! Can't fire your friends 👌
Customers

Better route - Customers will now look for the best way to pay for the products and leave. This means that if a new cashier is open or a self-service cashier is free, they will try to go to it. This allows players to effectively run 2 or more cashiers at the same time. If you need to speed up the payout, you can go to a new cashier and see the queue of the older ones split into the new one 😍.
Administration App

Staff Costs - Now you can check the daily costs of all employees in the Administration tab. Are they even worth 🤔?
Bug fixes

Fixed bug where the drop bags could be stuck outside zone or at store wall.
Fixed an issue where was impossible to skip night after readjust the store schedule.
Language

Fixed translations errors in german and spanish.

What's coming up next week?

Staff - It's time for some helping hands in the supermarket. I know most players play with a friend, but I have to admit that the store gets crazy after a few days and to keep expanding it's almost an impossible mission.
New Features
New Products
Here are some new products that will be unlocked early in the game.
New Furniture Category - Electricity

There's a new category under the Furniture app on the tablet. This new category will give access to lighting objects. Currently this is limited to four types of lights, but new furniture will be added in the future.
When the player starts a new save, the default is two lights. Players with older saves will need to place lights! These two default lights on the ceiling can now be sold or moved 😁.
Store Administration

Now the player is able to control when the supermarket is open or closed through the 'Administration App' or by interacting with the strange object on the wall inside the store. 🤔
Now you can move any item while the store is closed. This will help players because now they don't have to buy multiple shelves or racks to move products to those new shelves and racks. Just close the store when you want, move the object, open the store again!
Players who run a 24-hour shop will find that customer traffic is lower at night than during the day (just like in real life).
Administration App

New 'Administration App' on the tablet will be unlocked at the end of the first day (tutorial).
The app provides settings to manage the store schedule, such as opening or closing the store at any time. If the store is closed while customers are inside, it will switch to "Closing Soon" state and refuse new customers. After all customers inside have left, the store automatically switches to Closed.
In this app you will also find the running costs of the supermarket. This will provide the current rent and electricity costs. as well as future costs and expansion (future release).
Reputation
Previously, the reputation was given when the store closed every 17 hours. Since the player can now open/close the shop whenever they want, reputation is now given when customers leave the shop. Reputation is increased/decreased based on the player's happiness and also the amount of products they bought compared to the products they wanted.

Bug fixes

What's coming next week?

Supermarket Control - Your supermarket, your way. You will be able to open/close the supermarket whenever you want. Need to take a break? Restock the shelves or clean the market? No problem! Close it and open it again when you are ready.
Reputation Rework - Since you will be deciding when the store is open or closed, the current reputation system needs to be reworked. The reputation you earn will be constantly added to your rating based on individual customer feedback and experience.
More Languages - Since the release of Early Access, many players have asked for additional languages. I'll try to bring more languages as possible!
Bug Fixes
Player

Fixed an issue where the player could pickup the products that were on the carpet of the cash register. Consequently the player couldn't interact with the cash register.
Rewrote the way boxes in player's hands works. Some bugs related to invisible crates and such are hopefully gone.
Fixed an issue where the product inflation graph would disconnect the player when changing product views too quickly.
Customers

Fixed an issue where customers wouldn't display the correct emote if no cash register was found.
Fixed an issue where customers were spamming the bored emote when entering the store.
Fixed an issue where customers spawned by the bus would have double skins on top of each other.
Cash Register

Fixed an issue where the cash register was causing products to get stuck while at maximum queue.
Fixed an issue where products being scanned weren't destroyed when the player left, causing some weird behavior.
Cash registers now have an unlocked camera that allows the player to rotate it using the mouse.
Reputation

Fixed an issue where all unlocked stars were displayed when reputation changes were 0%.
Fixed a wrong formatted string on reputation after closing the store.
Game Improvement

Customers will now display an emote when they get tired of waiting in line.
Customers will now walk around until the checkout line moves.
[Performance] Fixed a problem related to the storage rack where it would drop the FPS.

Bug Fixes

Player - Fixed an issue where a player could grab two trash papers or product bags in a single animation. This was causing problems and possible disconnects.
Player - Fixed an issue where the player could spam the key to keep the animation looping when grabbing something.
Player - Fixed an issue where the player could interact with bags/trash at the same time as shelves or racks.
Player - Fixed an issue where if the player interacted with an object too quickly, the interaction ring would get stuck permanently in the center of the screen.
Saving System - Now the store will properly save every hour (or when night is skipped) when the store is closed. It doesn't save when the store is open, but that will change soon!
Drop Bags - Fixed an issue where players couldn't grab the bag from the ground even after reloading the game.
Drop Bags - Fixed an issue where drop bags would contain the wrong amount of items.
Storage Rack - Fixed issue where connected client players would be disconnected when trying to place items that didn't fit on that specific storage rack.
Rain - Fixed an issue where all clients were disconnected when rain started in a consecutive loaded game.
Reputation - Fixed an issue where daily reputation would be greater than 2.5%. This will be fixed soon when players start opening/closing the store whenever they want.
Skip Night - Fixed an issue where the server-side player would get stuck without being able to move.
Networking - Fixed other minor network sync issues between clients that were causing disconnects.
Game Balancing

Floor Dirt - After some more testing and player feedback, the drop in chance from the previous version was probably too much. The chance has been increased slightly.
Drop Bags - Players can now grab multiple bags from the ground without the 30 item limit.
