What's Arriving in this Release
The heart of this update is a dinosaur we know many of you have been waiting for: the Spinosaurus! 🦖 You can now discover and befriend this magnificent new friend, featuring the first selection of colors and patterns chosen by the community.

New Discoveries:
Rare Meteor Showers: Keep an eye on the sky for this new atmospheric event.
Fallen Stars: During these showers, you can find fallen stars to craft into Dreamstones, helping you create even more homes for your dinosaurs.
Wild Apium: For the first time, you’ll be able to find Apium growing as a wild plant during your travels.
New Colors: Several existing species now have new color variations, thanks to our "Dino Color Transfer" backers.

Community Designed Decor
Your creativity is all over this update! We’ve added a substantial amount of new ranch and character decor, including multiple items designed by our Decor Designers.

We have some incredibly exciting news to share today. Because of your overwhelming support and belief in this journey, the first major content release funded by the Players' Choice Kickstarter is officially launching on April 20, 2026!

This update is a direct result of our collaboration with all of you over the past 12 months and the incredible support of our backers. When we reached our primary goal in just 48 hours, it was clear that you were ready to help us shape the evolution of Paleo Pines.

This has been a passion project for a long time, and we're so excited to share these high-quality collectibles with you all. Get ready to start your collection!
Why Trading Cards? A Peek Behind the Project
For those wondering why we chose to create trading cards, it comes down to four key reasons:
1. A Blast from the Past! Just like Paleo Pines itself, trading cards are a nostalgic throwback to our childhoods. We grew up collecting everything from Garbage Pail Kids to classic sports cards, and there's an unmatched joy in cracking open a pack to find that one rare, shiny card. We partnered with the lovely folks at CREO to ensure these cards are a premium collectible.
2. Supporting Our Amazing Artists We're always looking for ways to keep our incredible team creating! These cards became a special project for our concept artist, Elain Chen, who poured her heart into bringing our dinos to life on cardstock. The designs are breathtaking, and this project gave us a chance to celebrate her talent and hard work!
3. More for the Community to Share This isn't just about collecting; it's about trading, sharing, and connecting! We designed these cards to be shared so you can hunt for every single dino to complete the set. We can't wait to see our community trading and helping each other track down that elusive last card.
4. Funding a Brighter Future for Paleo Pines Here's the really important part: sales from these trading cards will go directly toward funding further research into wholesome gaming and implementing a special, experimental feature into Paleo Pines. We are committed to using 100% of our Kickstarter funds strictly for rewards and development goals, so this provides a separate stream of income to keep our passion project, The Power of Peaceful Play, moving forward. Every pack you collect helps us make Paleo Pines an even more nurturing and innovative place to spend your time.

We wanted to give all of our Ranchers a sneak peek into what to expect from the Kickstarter which launches on July 1st at 8am PT. 💪
We thought the easiest way to do this would be to share the preview of our actual Kickstarter page with you so you can get a sense of the funding goals and rewards we have on offer.
Some caveats:

This is a PREVIEW of the page, which means you can’t see all the details you will be able to on launch. 👀
We’ve included a complete list of what each Reward Tier includes below 👇 because we know this is what many of you will be really curious about.
You may need to be logged into a Kickstarter account to be able to see this page, but I hope not.

What is a Reward Tier?
The primary goal of our Kickstarter is to fund an expansion pack for Paleo Pines. Why A Kickstarter?
We've had some questions surrounding WHY we're doing a Kickstarter for this content, which we've added to our Kickstarter itself, but we'll share it here as well to make sure folks can see it easily! 🤗
It's completely understandable to wonder why a studio with a game like Paleo Pines, which many consider a success, would need a Kickstarter. This has been one of the toughest communication challenges we've faced as an independent studio, and we want to be as transparent as we are able to be.
While Paleo Pines has indeed been a wonderful success story in terms of its reception and reach, the unfortunate reality is that the financial benefits of that success have, so far, primarily gone to our publishers. Our merchandise sales, while appreciated, don't generate substantial income due to high costs and thin margins. We have managed to get to this point primarily through the sales of our plushies, determined as we were to keep on trying to secure other forms of funding.
The current landscape of the games industry is incredibly tough. Funding opportunities for independent developers have been drying up at an alarming rate. This makes it incredibly difficult for studios like ours to secure the investment needed to continue our work, especially when it comes to creating expansions and updates for existing games.
Last year, when we shared our financial struggles with our community, our main hope was to find a new publishing partner. We poured countless hours into this effort, approaching over 50 different publishers in a desperate attempt to secure the resources that would allow us to keep our dedicated team together and bring new content to the game. Despite our best efforts, we were met with disappointment at every turn.
It was in this moment of uncertainty that our incredible community stepped up, with a huge number of players urging us to try crowdfunding. With no other viable options on the horizon, we decided to listen to your voices and embrace this path. This Kickstarter isn't just an option for us; it is truly the only way we can bring the Players' Choice expansion to life. Your support means the world to us, and it's what will allow us to continue building the world of Paleo Pines.
