Greetings Terrarians!
At long last, we are pleased to announce that Terraria 1.4.5.7 is out now for PC! Terraria 1.4.5.7 is the latest and last (barring any critical fixes needed) hotfix for the Bigger and Boulder update. It has a heavy focus on balance, including stat and functionality changes to existing items and even some brand new items that we are sure you will all enjoy. Of course, while we were at it, we dealt with some outstanding bugs and more. We decided to post this update separately vs with all of the other hotfixes given its scope.
We had originally planned to sync this release across PC-Mobile-Console, but with Gamescom coming up next week (more on that below), we had to make the call to get PC out now and then get Console and Mobile into submissions immediately. This allows us to have the update out, time for any critical fixes, and then the submissions can run their course in parallel. Mobile and Console will release just as soon as those submissions clear.
What's next? Again, barring any critical fixes that would necessitate a 1.4.5.8, next up should be the long-awaited Crossplay Phase One update (1.4.6)! We will have more on what all that entails in the near future, though you can check previous State of the Game posts for some advance hints and how Phase One and Phase Two will roll out. In addition, the Re-Logic and DR Studios teams will be holding joint planning sessions next week at Gamescom in order to lay out the path forward for future Terraria updates. We will share the results of those meetings at a later time.

NPCs

- Ghosts from Tombstones and Wraiths from Demon/Crimson Altars now respect the Journey Mode spawnrate slider.
- Leashed turtles, frogs and water striders no longer have bubbles when underwater.
- Improved leashed Water Strider and Grasshopper behaviour with water.
- Leashed fish no longer voluntarily leave water, and other leashed fliers no longer enter it.
- Leashed fish now bob less, making them less likely to clip out of the waterline.

- Homeless NPCs can no longer spawn when time is frozen (same as regular NPC spawning).
- Jungle Spores are now considered the 'mushroom' of Jungle Grass and will convert as such.
Fixed the Aether biome sometimes generating without Shimmer.
- Ice Chests now treat the Fish as a secondary item, allowing other loot to spawn alongside it.
- Jungle Chests now treat Seaweed as a secondary item, allowing other loot to spawn alongside it.
- Hell Forts now have a chance to have crumbled walls if said walls are not between rooms, and exposed to the air.

Quality of Life
- Added loadout equipment sharing! Favorite any equipment to make it shareable between loadouts!
- Dead players can now skip the respawn timer when there's no great danger around them.

- Digtoise now appears on the minimap, and its item icon indicates whether it is summoned.
- Quest Fish can now be picked up even if you already have one of the same type.
- Stress ball now works when game screen focus is lost.
- Torch god's flames no longer hurt players other than the one who is going through its trial.
- Distressed Cattiva & Distressed Foxparks now take 5 damage from all hits, and should have a fair chance to be saved in higher difficulties.
- You can now open locked chests by directly using the key on them with your cursor (old method still works as well).
Art & Visuals
- Updated Banner of the Beast.
- Updated Chlorophyte Dye's glowmask.
- Walls with tiles in front of them once again draw over other walls (as before 1.4.5).
- The defense counter now has a unique outline color on Legendary difficulty.
- Fixed a gray pixel in the Marathon Medalist icon.

UI Changes
- Items picked up from the ground are now always highlighted if the Highlight New Items feature is enabled, regardless of how they're obtained.
- You can now adjust how the Sniper Rifle/Scope's zoom function works using the "Forward Zoom" option in the Keybinding menu. The available settings are Hold To Use, Click To Toggle, Always On, and Always Off.
- On gamepad, switching to the equipment menu while holding an item will now move the cursor directly to a valid equipment slot. This also works for Mannequins and Hat Racks.
- In the Banner Menu, newly obtained banners are now highlighted.
- Increased the scroll speed of the credits.
- Improved gamepad navigation of the crafting UI.
- The "Clear" button for the search bar is now accessible with gamepad in the Bestiary, Journey Duplication and Crafting UIs.
Multiplayer
- Items that are intended for a specific player are now briefly reserved for that player. This applies to (among others) mining, catching critters and using the Extractinator.
- The team selection controls now give better gamepad feedback when on cooldown.
- Empty servers now only start updating when a client fully connects.
- Servers now log a message when a player disconnects before having joined the world.
- Fixed Steam hosts not sending the kick reason when the person trying to join isn't the host's friend.
- Fixed hotkey dashes not being synced.
- Player direction changes are now properly synced.
- Fixed a malicious packet exploit.
- Servers no longer reserve slots for clients that connect and immediately disconnect.
- Servers no longer attempt to send data to clients slots when their clients have disconnected.
- Improved how NPCs handle being damaged on servers with high latency, reducing desyncs.
Localization
- Renamed Twin Mask to Twins Mask.

Melee Weapons
All Boomerangs
- Now fly back faster to the player depending on melee attack speed, roughly every 1% = 1.5% faster comeback.
Beam Sword
- Now turns the player towards its shooting direction.
Sleepy Octopod
- Increased smash damage range.
- Can now smash while airborne.
- Smash damage now has 25% increased critical strike chance.
- Now covers all angles around the player as it is swung, without gaps.
- Increased swing speed.
Sky Dragon’s Fury
- Now covers all angles around the player as it is swung, without gaps.
Slime Spear
- Damage increased from 9 to 12 in non-skyblock worlds.
Starlight
- Range now scales with melee attack speed, at a rate of 1% range for every 3% melee attack speed.
Light Disc
- Crafting cost of Hallowed Bars reduced from 20 to 12.
- Crafting cost of Souls of Might reduced from 25 to 15.
Chlorophyte Saber
- Reworked and buffed into a stabbing weapon similar to Gladius and Starlight.
- Inflicts a new Spored debuff on enemies, dealing damage over time.
- Now scales its stabbing range with melee attack speed.
- Now has autoswing.
- Damage increased from 57 to 80.
- No longer fires a spore projectile.
Chlorophyte Claymore
- Reworked and buffed to be similar to the newer swords from 1.4.4.
- Now slams the ground with an explosion that releases spore clouds dealing 75% of the original swing's damage. This explosion has a short cooldown.
- Swings emit spore clouds as well.
- No longer fires an orb projectile.
Mandible Blade & Stylish Scissors
- Throwing range reduced.
Paladin's Hammer
- Reworked to be usable as a melee weapon. Shocking. We know.
- Now swings before it’s thrown.
- Thrown hammer size increased significantly, and deals 33% increased damage on first hit.
- Now uses local immunity.
- Range reduced, still scales with melee speed.
- Now reduces its damage by 10% when piercing multiple enemies.
- Reduced Broken Armor duration from 10-20 seconds to 1.5 seconds.
Possessed Hatchet
- Reduced Hemorrhage duration from 8-12 seconds to 2-4 seconds.
Cascade
- Now applies explosions every 2 hits, dealing 200% damage to a nearby enemy.
Malaise & Artery
- Now require 10 bars to craft instead of 12.
Amarok
- Increased damage from 43 to 47.
Hel-Fire
- Increased damage from 39 to 43.
Format:C
- Critical strikes now deal 250% damage instead of 200% damage, and have a visual effect.
- Added 20% critical strike chance.
- Damage increased from 39 to 40.
- No longer sold by Skeleton Merchant.
- Is now crafted with Gold/Platinum Bars, Adamantite/Titanium Bars, Souls of Night and Souls of Fright.
Kraken
- Now has a whirlpool surrounding it, increasing its hit detection range significantly.
- Splashes 3 waves every fourth hit.
- The waves have static immunity.
- Increased damage from 95 to 120.
- Increased range and speed.
- A kraken deployed by the Yoyo Glove moves 25% slower, this gives it more area coverage.
- No longer drops in the hardmode dungeon.
- Is now dropped from Duke Fishron.
Yelets
- Now inflicts Acid Venom for 2 seconds.
Gradient
- Speed increased from 12 to 16.
- Added a visual gradient trail.
- Rarity changed from orange to red.
Chik
- Now applies a crystal explosion every 3 hits, spreading 5 shards.
- The hit that causes the explosion deals double damage.
- The shards have static immunity, and cannot hit the original enemy.
- Damage reduced from 39 to 34.
The Eye of Cthulhu
- Now summons the Eye of Cthulhu when the Eye of Cthulhu hits enemies. (Including the Eye of Cthulhu!)
- The summoned Eye of Cthulhu appears every 7 hits, and has local immunity.
Flymeal
- Damage to villagers doubled.
Ranged Weapons
All Rocket Weapons
- Self damage reduced to a flat 60.
Marrow
- Buffed its arrows to split into two bone shards that deal 25% of the arrow's damage.
- Damage reduced from 53 to 40.
Ale Tosser
- Is now ranged again!
- Now deals 10% increased damage, and has 5% increased critical strike chance, if used while Tipsy.
Ichor Dart
- Damage increased back from 7 to 10.
Cursed Dart
- Now pierces up to 3 enemies, up from 1.
- Flame duration increased by 50%.
Barrel Launcher
- Added a visual effect for bouncing barrels to indicate their damage increase.
- Updated tooltip to reflect the existence of the damage increase.
Nano Bullet
- Now increases total attack damage by 25%, in addition to its other effects.
- Damage reduced from 15 to 10.
Cursed Bullet
- Damage increased from 12 to 15.
Venom Bullet
- Now inflicts Potent Venom in addition to Acid Venom.
- Now inflicts venom in a splashing cone from its hit point.
Venom Arrow

Mana
- Reworked!
- Mana regeneration delay completely removed.
- Mana now regenerates even when attacking, at 5% of its normal rate.
- Standing still now doubles the full mana regeneration rate, including regeneration from accessories. (roughly 20% better than it was in 1.4.5)
- Increased mana regeneration rate when having low mana.
- Mana consuming weapons can now be without enough mana, at 40% attack speed. The players squint their eyes when using magic weapons without enough mana.
- Mana regeneration rate reduced by 13%
- Mana regeneration potion (still) gives maximum mana regeneration rate at all times (As if standing, and as if you had full mana bar), but is now significantly better because it applies while attacking.
Mana stars
- Now grants the Mana Surge buff, which increases magic damage by 20%, decaying over 2 seconds, in addition to the mana recovery.
- No longer gets pulled by players who are at full mana and not holding magic weapons.
Super Mana Potion
- Mana recovery increased from 300 to 400.
- Now crafted using ectoplasm, fallen stars, and greater mana potions.
Mana Cloak
- Reworked to summon a falling mana star on magic hits. Picking it up gives Mana Surge.
- The falling mana star now breaks when it passes the player's elevation, even on platforms, making it easy to grab.
Toxic Flask
- Now uses static immunity.
Leaf Blower
- Now emits 3 leaves in succession on use.
- Use time increased from 7 to 15.
- Leaves now whirl in circles after traveling some distance.
Shadowbeam Staff
- Knockback increased from 3.25 to 6
- Increased hit detection range significantly, making diagonal shots easier.
Blood Thorn
- Increased damage from 36 to 40.
- Increased thorns size by roughly 30%.
Flower of Fire
- Mana cost reduced from 12 to 9.
Book of Skulls
- Skulls reworked to be more reliable and comfortable to use, now move faster, and can go through blocks.
- Skulls expire significantly faster when traveling blocks.
- Skull homing accuracy improved.
- Skull duration reduced from 60 to 8 seconds.
- Use time increased from 26 to 32.
Unholy Trident
- Reworked to shoot a significantly faster trident that sticks to blocks for a short time.
- Damage increased from 88 to 150.
- Damage in remix increased from 42 to 77.
- Knockback increased from 6.5 to 6.66.
- Added 25 armor penetration.
- Now inflicts Shadowflame on hit.
- No longer pierces enemies.
Magical Harp
- Buffed and reworked to reach the cursor significantly faster and then linger close to its area.
- The notes now take roughly the same amount of time to reach the cursor regardless of the cursor's distance.
- Velocity minimum is now lower, letting you set note mines.
- Hit detection range notably increased.
- Notes are no longer slowed by water.
- Now uses local immunity of 30 frames.
- Now pierces five targets, rather than endlessly.
- Knockback reduced from 2 to 1.5.
Summon Weapons
All Whips
- Can now Whip Stack, when the proper accessories are equipped!
- All whip tag effects are now calculated independent of their application order.
- This is a buff compared to 1.4.4
- Improved all whips enemy collision detection, especially when swinging at high attack speed.
Leather Whip
- Buy price reduced from 10 Gold to 5 Gold.
Slime Whip
- Damage increased from 12 to 15 in non-skyblock worlds.
Electric Eel
- Buffed and reworked to interact better with minions.
- Now primes enemies with electric energy.
- Minion hits consume the electric energy for a single powerful electric attack, resonating with up to 5 nearby enemies.
- The electric attack deals 50+50 damage per resonating enemy.
- Resonating enemies take 20 damage each.
- Damage over time is now always 50 DPS.
Constellation
- Reworked to interact better with minions.
- Now primes enemies with cosmic energy on hit.
- Minion hits make the cosmic energy grow. Hitting again scatters a constellation of stars.
- Each star's damage increased from 29% to 38%.
- Doubled star's homing range.
- Doubled star's chase speed.
Durendal
- Buffed to interact better with minions.
- Now primes all enemies hit with enchanted energy.
- Minion hits consume the enchanted energy dealing 30 additional damage.
- This is in addition to its existing effects, which are unchanged.
Vulgar Display of Flower
- Reworked to interact better with minions
- Petal damage is now based on the minion's hit damage x2.25.
- Now summons 3 to 6 petals instead of just 3. The damage is split evenly between the petals.
- Petals now chase significantly faster, and from farther away.
- Damage reduced from 75 to 50.
Staff of the Frost Hydra
- Projectile now uses local immunity.
Lightning Aura Rod/Cane/Staff
- Removed tag damage penalty.
Cattiva
- Can now be empowered with a Kinship Peach
- Increased damage from 9 to 11.
- Immune time between attacks increased from 8 to 9.
- Can now jump using a Cloud in a Bottle!
Foxparks
- Can now be empowered with a Kinship Peach
- Increased Huggy Fire damage from 75% of item damage to 100%.
- Removed Huggy Fire armor penetration.
Blade Staff
- Reintroduced tag damage penalty at 33%, up from 1.4.4's 25%.
- This only applies to flat tag damage, and does not affect tag critical strike chance.
Barnacle Staff
- Increased drop rate significantly.
Desert Tiger Staff
- Added 2.5 knockback, up from 0.
Xeno Staff
- Attack speed reduced by 12.5%
Pirate Staff
- Summoned pirates can now use Cloud in a Bottle, and grappling hooks, to chase enemies better.
Equipment
Hermes Boots
- Are now properly affected by speed reducing debuffs.
Arcane Flower
- Now inherits its 5% critical strike chance and 5% damage from Putrid Scent.
Spore Sac
- Now uses static immunity.
Band of Starpower
- Max mana benefit increased from 20 to 40.
- This affects all tinkers that use Band of Starpower.
Mana Regeneration Band
- Mana regeneration per second increased from 12.5 to 30.
- The mana regeneration bonus now doubles when standing still or using Mana Regeneration Potion.
- Now inherits Band of Regeneration's life regeneration.

Magic Cuffs
- Now crafted from Band of Starpower instead of Mana Regeneration Band.
- Max mana increased from 20 to 40, thanks to Band of Starpower's change.
- Added 2 defense.
Celestial Cuffs

Ankh Shield
- Increased defense from 4 to 5.
Roller Skates

Deerclops

Empress of Light
- Everlasting Rainbow can no longer hit players on most faded out sections, reducing the hurting area significantly.
Moon Lord
- Added warning to several attacks
- Phantasmal Eye attack now stops homing after 1.5 seconds, and its explosion radius has been reduced.
- Phantasmal Bolt attacks now lock their direction briefly before shooting.
- Phantasmal Spheres contact damage is disabled during the first second after they spawn.
- Phantasmal Deathray locks its target earlier, allowing for better coordination in multiplayer.
- Moon Lord's void highlight now centers on the True Eye of Cthulhu whenever it fires a deathray
- Moon Lord & True Eye of Cthulhu no longer deal contact damage.
- Deathrays from Moon Lord & True Eye of Cthulhu damage disabled during the first second after they spawn.
- True Eyes of Cthulhu maintain better distance from each other and overlap less.
- True Eyes of Cthulhu now synchronize their attack patterns with Moon Lord, preventing some impossible-to-dodge situations.
- Adjusted Void shader to preserve bright reds and green better, increasing visibility of some of the player's attacks.
Enemies & Critters
- Many NPCs will no longer fire at players when off-screen.
- Some enemy bullet shots now have a much shorter projectile lifetime.
- Santa-NK1's missiles now have a much shorter projectile lifetime.
- Man Eater, Angry Trapper, Fungi Bulbs and Clingers no longer pick up money on Expert+ difficulty.
- Santa-NK1 shooting range limited to 125 blocks, preventing it from hitting players extremely far away.
- Heavily nerfed Nailhead's nail damage, from 120 to 60 in expert mode, and from 270 to 90 in master mode.
- Sand Elemental no longer attacks players from significantly far away.
- Storm Divers can no longer fly or shoot while confused.
- Spiders that can spit webs no longer spit webs while confused.
- Snow Balla, Snowman Gangsta, and Evolution Beast no longer fire while confused.

- Explosive Trap damage no longer scales based on difficulty, and now always deals 500 damage.
Tools & Utility
Dual Hook
- Launch, reeling, and swing velocity increased across the board, to catch up to multi-hooks and restore some of its former glory.
Buffs & Consumables
Warmth Potion
- Now reduces the duration of Chilled by 75%, and Frozen by 50%.
High Spirits Buff
- Now only obtains duration when the kite is above its players' head.
- Mining speed bonus reduced from 15% to 10%.
- Movement speed bonus reduced from 25% to 15%.
Flask of Nanites
- Now increases total melee and whip attack damage by 5%, in addition to its other effects.
Flask of Venom
- Now inflicts Potent Venom in addition to Acid Venom.
Midas buff
- Coin drop bonus increased from 10-50% to 30-50%.

- Fixed an iOS crash for users with Git installed.
- Fixed a crash involving overzealous use of the Last Prism.
