We've been hard at work implementing new technologies and improving player experience on our first table, The Curse of Crab Cay. Players can expect more patches in Q1 of 2022 that will wrap up development of The Curse of Crab Cay and a playtest of our next table sometime near the beginning of Q2!

Today we've released a small patch that adds the ability for players to report bugs and provide feedback while playing the game. All you have to do is hit F5 on your keyboard or SELECT on your gamepad to pause the game and get a form with which you can tell us about a bug or provide feedback on the game. A screenshot will automatically be taken of the game and sent along with your message, as well.
We are specifically hoping to get some feedback on gamepad functionality and any bugs related to either gameplay or key rebinding. Of course, we're happy to hear any feedback players might have that will help us make the game better. If you have any suggestions or requests, feel free to use this function and let us know!

Flip-Out! 0.3.0 was just released! We've been working on internal features to improve the gameplay experience and add to the game's features, which means that players now have the ability to rebind their keys for all inputs besides movement inputs. It also means that gamepads are now supported (experimentally)! If you are a gamepad user, we'd love to hear your feedback on how the gamepad gameplay feels and behaves. There were also a few bugs in the game preventing the normal gameplay loop from progressing and they have now been fixed.
Development of our internal systems has been progressing rapidly, enabling us to improve performance and speed up development of future tables. We are currently designing our next table and we hope to be able to start showing off that table very soon. For now, we ask any players that encounter issues or bugs to leave us a message on the Steam Community forums. That's it for now! Enjoy the new patch!
Patch notes:
Drop targets fixed
Pufferfish target fixed
Nudge function fixed
Forward nudge added
Bug that caused a new ball to fail to spawn after a ball was lost has been resolved
Flip-Out! has reached its first major development milestone with the completion of the basic pinball code for our first table, the Curse of Crab Cay. There will still be some adjustments and additions to the table, but the basic flow of the pinball state machine is now in-place.
Flip-Out! has reached its first major development milestone with the completion of the basic pinball code for our first table, the Curse of Crab Cay. There will still be some adjustments and additions to the table, but the basic flow of the pinball state machine is now in-place. Going forward, we'll be focusing on improving performance, refining physics interactions on the table, adding more complexity to scoring opportunities, and visual and audio enhancements.
We're very excited for the future of Flip-Out! We've built a solid framework from which to build pinball games with as many twists as we want. We're looking for player feedback on the build we've released today. You can provide that feedback in the Steam community forums or in our Discord server which you can access from the button on the main menu screen.

Flip-Out! Early Access is now available! Flip-Out! is a challenging new take on Pinball that will require quick reflexes and creative thinking to get the highest scores. We've combined the mechanics of pinball and brick-breakers like Breakout and Arkanoid into a satisfying, engaging new gameplay loop and we're excited for people to try it. The game's mechanics are currently very early in development and are not representative of our final vision of the game. We've decided to release at this time to help make sure we stay ahead of bug reports and get player feedback that we can use to improve the game.
During this early access period, we'll be looking for feedback on physics and mechanisms, as well as bug reports. The pinball state machine will be added in the coming days, which will provide the foundation for the pinball game mechanics and scoring system. We are happy to announce that we are developing new tools that will assist in making the design of the pinball state machine much more streamlined. In turn, those tools will be made available to modders in the modkit, once it's released in the coming months.
There is currently one table available, The Curse of Crab Cay. You assume the role of a crab who's home has been invaded by the ghosts of pirates, doomed to a watery grave from the battles on the surface. Their influence has brought some bad juju upon your home and you must dispel their magic and defend your home against the evil invaders. You'll collect treasure and items from the ship's hold to either aid or hinder your efforts and you must be strategic about draining those items between the paddles to both maximize your score and progress through the table's mechanics.
Once we have the physics, mechanism behaviors, and state machine integrated to a point where we feel the process is streamlined, we'll be making more tables and we'll be publishing a system for players to get creative and make their own tables and share them with the community!
Thank you for your interest in Flip-Out! Expect lots of updates from us and lots more fun to come!
