Hello fighters! After several days of testing and rebalancing, this update finally adds the beginner difficulty to Carsteroids.
This is a long time requested feature that finally lands after having balanced the "normal" and "less hard" difficulty, aiming to give the opportunity also to the players who prefer a less challenging experience to enjoy the game. This new difficulty setting is still a true Carsteroids experience, but with a small feature added. After selection, it simply increases your car maximum energy so that you can take more hits and last longer in the combat arena. As a result, when you play in story mode, you will also receive more money to spend on upgrades after you clear a stage. Hope this new addition can give a better gameplay experience, especially to the players who are having hard time when playing the other difficulty settings. There is also a new paint job to unlock in the arcade mode. It's named "N-Wave" and you can have it for just 50 tokens :) That's all for now! Hello pilots! Carsteroids just received a new update based on your feedback, thanks very much! This update is about balancing the difficulty and the score bonuses based on it. Because the game has now a third difficulty level, any extra bonus received will be proportioned to the difficulty chosen. The new selectable difficulty level is named "normal (alt)". This is just an alternative variant to "normal" featuring the same difficulty, but with automatic reload. Also, when playing a "Car-ball" single match Vs the CPU you can now win tokens for each goal you score (if you don't lose the match, of course). This change should give an additional reason to choose a single match instead of the tournament. Here the full changelog, let me know what you think! v1.06t changelog:

The new extra mode named "Bonus Round" is ready to play
It consists in playing the 4 bonus stages to achieve the best score (and of course for a bit of practice too). You need to unlock the stages by playing the story mode if you never played them before. The sum of the 4 best scores will form a megascore, let's share and compete! ;) I have also added a new item in the bonus stage 4 that adds 5 seconds to your timer when picked up. This addition further balances the gameplay of the stage, I hope it is welcome.

Promo codes are finally active
You'll just need to input the code in the title page to redeem it, very easy. Each code is one-shot and grants a different effect (permanent or just temporary). I'll share the codes in the future, but here is one for you to try: The code is: J F G B (effect: receive 50 tokens)

Paint jobs
The last introduced feature is the selection between two paint jobs before starting the arcade mode. There will be more of them in the future updates, maybe with a "collection page" too. The new flaming paint job in action ;) Here are the first two: "Phoenix" overwrites the default orange paint job. "Regno" introduced for the fresh Italian language translation.

Mine deployer's turret is now disabled when has active shield.
The spinning opponent doesn't shoot at you anymore when is deploying bombs.

Fixed a bug that prevented to close the stats page in the title screen.
Fixed duplicate reload sound in Bonus stage 2 (easiest difficulty).
The message "stage clear" isn't overlapping active elements anymore.
Rate of fire of Spider Tank's laser reduced on easiest difficulty.
Rate of fire of walking opponents have been further reduced on easiest difficulty.
Now the red box can be destroyed by the tank's shot.
Now the final battle opponent do not shoot anymore after his HP is zero.
Fixed a bug preventing immediate selections in the title page after closing options page.
Now opponent cars properly display the visual effect when hitting the stage borders.
Barrels do not spawn in bonus stage 1 anymore before the game starts.
Holo-asteroids do not spawn in bonus stage 2 anymore before the game starts.
Some other minor fixes.

This update is about the recently added "reload" sound effect, now replaced with a new one (the voice sample seemed a bit out of place). Also, now when you enter a boss stage you will find an energy divider that is active for few seconds, this makes the fight not immediately starting (but there is a surprise during stage 20). Hope you'll enjoy! v1.05x changelog:

The Scavenger now also appears on stages 1-2.
No more received hits when a pop up message is on screen.

Hello fighters! Thanks to your feedbacks the update 1.05 is now live. This update is mainly about difficulty balancement and savegames, but also other things listed below.
1. Difficulty You face many types of opponents in Carsteroids, but they can mainly be categorized in primary and secondary. Primary opponents spawn once at the start of a game (they're your main target) and secondary opponents spawn at some intervals during a play. Before this update a game could have been infinite because the continous spawning of secondary opponents. After this update when you beat a primary opponent no more secondary opponent will enter the combat (now a secondary target enters the arena only if the primary target is still in play). This change brought a significative alteration to the "ecosystem" of Carsteroids because with less secondary opponents less points are generated and consequentially the player might earn less money for the upgrades. So it took a while to rebalance all the factors for a good compromise between all of them. Hopefully the gameplay will be better balanced now. 2. Saving Because the game automatically saves at certain points to preserve the unlocks and the overall progress, when I added the possibility to manually save, the load of a checkpoint started to mess all of this. Now with this upgrade when starting a new game (independently if it's arcade, story or versus) the game always overwrites the previous data deleting also the story mode saved checkpoint. This is the best option to keep all the data for a game born on roguelite foundations and featuring 3 different main modes connected between each other. 3. More... Lastly, some improvements to the reload notifications and some AI upgrades to give to your opponent a little more of unpredictability. Below you can find the complete changelog. Game on! v1.05 changelog:

Added "reload" voice on zero shots (normal difficulty).
Added "reloading" sound on button pressed.
Remaining shots' HUD info now counts downward.
Now the game automatically records a leaderboard score on "quick restart".
Reduced screen-shake magnitude from stage 6 onwards.
Added a new save checkpoint on stage 15.
Upgraded boss' hit points for stage 10 and stage 15.
Opponents' combat AI updated.
No more secondary opponent is spawned after you beat the primary target.
Rotating opponent now holds the fire when spawning bombs on later stages.
Reduced secondary opponent's respawn rate (for early stages and easier difficulty).
Reduced fire rate of walking opponents.
Reduced quantity of scattered tires on easier difficulty.
Tire sprite outline is now a little darker.
Adjusted Parasite's beam collision box.
Increased Parasite's 3-way shooting interval.
Updated description of "Less Hard" difficulty option.
Updated load/save/new game brief descriptions.
Added savegame informations before starting a new game.
FIXES:

No more opponent is spawned after you hear the gong.
Gamepad's select button in the controls page now works again.
Drones are no more automatically destroyed when you wreck the Deployer.
Fixed loss of progress caused when reloading a save state.
Fixed bonus stage 4 bug preventing the timer to work.
Fixed collision bug between beam shot and enemy shield.
Money earned playing Parasites's intro stage are now kept after a quick restart.
"Invincible" achievement trigger is no more randomly activated.
Achievement "Car-ball favourite" now triggers on the spot.
Other minor fixes.

Added the option to swap the main gamepad layout with an alternative one.
Updated the design of the Control pages.
Adjusted car responsiveness in the scrolling stages.
