Need some BattleTech tips? The world of the MechWarriors is harsh, encompassing a universe where metal is more valuable than people. BattleTech is one of the best turn-based strategy games around, but it's a game you need to take seriously if you're going to win. Luckily for you, we're here to help.
While the economic and management layers to BattleTech are important, the real game-changing action happens in the tactical battles. Before you consult the bellow, you'll want to make sure you know everything there is to know about BattleTech mech builds, which we conveniently have a guide for. Provided you're up to see on that though, now it's time to learn how to handle your lance.
Below you'll find everything from contract tips, to general mech principles, to detailed 'dos and don'ts' for the various weapon types. There's a lot of detail you can bury yourself in, and the more you master the better time you'll have on the harder missions. Official support for BattleTech has finished now, so we don't expect this will need updating much but we'll refresh this guide as we need to.

Looking back at it now, 2020 doesn’t feel like a banner year for strategy games, but that doesn’t mean there haven’t been a few gems. The list below – gathered by a panel of experts and regularly updated – contains games from as recently as 12 months ago alongside classics from as far back as 28 years ago. They’re all games we think you could play and love right now.
If you've spent any significant time with Harebrained Schemes' BattleTech you've undoubtedly had a sense that just as much of the game takes place in the MechLab as on the field. There are interesting tactical decisions to be made certainly and BattleTech packs a lot of detail in
If you've spent any significant time with Harebrained Schemes' BattleTech you've undoubtedly had a sense that just as much of the game takes place in the MechLab as on the field. There are interesting tactical decisions to be made certainly and BattleTech packs a lot of detail into its combat encounters. But building your lance the right way and picking the missions best suited to your lance is just as important - if not more so - than proper positioning and timing in a fight.
These mech building tips should provide you with plenty of guidance for crafting your ideal mech. There aren't any real hard and fast rules when creating your lance because everything in BattleTech is situational. We'll go over a few general principles to bear in mind, but it's important to remember that these can always be superseded in certain circumstances. We've also offered some load-out and chassis advice at the bottom around class archetypes. Feel free to tweak at your leisure, though.
We'll continue to update this guide as we learn more about BattleTech, but the rules below should apply to BattleTech as of the Heavy Metal expansion and the latest Patch.
Even if official development of BattleTech has now finished, it will always remain one of our favourite turn-based strategy games . It may be a bit rough around the edges, but it also has everything you could want: gritty, frontier-style survival, giant robots, accounting... it's

The BattleTech universe has been going for decades and so features a rich and diverse history that can be used to fuel any BattleTech mod scene. In fact many of the most popular mods - including the ones listed below - involve setting changes rather than adding new mechanics. There's also plenty of utility and quality of life mods that can be used to enhance the experience and iron out some of the fiddly edges.
As of October 2020, there are three main 'enhancement' mods that greatly enhance the base game in similar but subtly different ways. This reddit thread offers a good breakdown as to the key differences. Speaking of giant robots, BattleTech is also one of our favourite mech games, but there are plenty more to check out.

We'll go over a few general principles to bear in mind, but it's important to remember that these can always be superseded in certain circumstances.
BattleTech's latest expansion (and possibly final) is Heavy Metal, and with the two new 'mechs that came along in the free update, it adds a total of ten new Battlemech chassis to customize to your hearts' content. There are also new weapons and specialised hardware, so the design space for lances is now officially huge. The previous DLC was Urban Warfare which not only added the new Raven and Javelin mechs, but also changed the game's balance by weaving 'electronic warfare' in the form of interesting, battlefield-changing equipment. The Flashpoint expansion also added the Hatchetman, Crab, and Cyclops 'Mechs to the mix.

How to mod BattleTech
BattleTech is one of the few modern games we cover not to have Steam Workshop integration, and as such you need to head on over to Nexus Mods for all of your 'official' BattleTech moddings needs. There is also a modest reddit community dedicated to this topic. This means there will be a lot of manual installation things, so make sure you follow instructions.

In BATTLETECH, there are two battles going on. The most obvious is taking your Mechs planet side and beating the opposition into scrap. The secondary front is the main economics of the game: keeping your mercenary lance solvent, while optimizing yourself for increasingly difficult scenarios. Managing your budget each month while staying ahead of the difficulty curve is just as important as managing your Action Economy in battle. Below are some strategies we've found helpful to getting yourself well equipped and ready for potential disaster scenarios.
Manage Your Growth Responsibly
I cannot stress how important it is to consider the ramifications of small expenses in BATTLETECH. While each of the following ideas may sound small, together they add up to large amounts of C-Bills that you can shave off your monthly expenses.
Pilots get expensive quickly. Initially, you will be given a reminder that a normal Mercenary Lance consists of 8 MechWarriors. The idea being if four of your pilots are injured in combat, that you'll have another four prepared at a moment's notice. I can say with confidence that hiring that many pilots at the start of your career is a terrible idea.

June is here, and Microsoft is once again upending its big bag of video games over its buckets marked Xbox Game Pass on console and PC, with this month's freshly tumbled treats including Kingdom Hearts HD on Xbox One and BattleTech on PC.
Starting tomorrow, 11th June, Xbox One Game Pass will expand to include two preposterously titled Kingdom Hearts collections of Disney-themed RPG action; first up is Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 & 2.5 ReMix - which features HD spruce-ups of (brace yourselves) Kingdom Hearts Final Mix, Re:Chain of Memories, 358/2 Days, Birth by Sleep Final Mix, and Re:Coded.
That's accompanied by Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue, offering up Kingdom Hearts Dream Drop Distance HD, Kingdom Hearts 0.2: Birth by Sleep - A Fragmentary Passage, and Kingdom Hearts χ Back Cover. Which is to say you're in for a lot of Kingdom Hearts, even if there's no chance you'll ever remember exactly what any of them are called.

After three expansions and almost two years, BattleTech is just about done. The developers, Harebrained Schemes say they have one last free update due later this month February then that’s the end of their current plans for the turn-based tactical mech ’em up. After this, they’re focusing on making two new projects. Mysterious, non-BattleTech projects. Could it be the Crimson Skies some long for?

For a time it looked as though strategy games had sunk into a kind of deathly malaise, unsure which territory to claim next and which ones it should leave well and truly alone. Fast forward to 2020, though, and strategy games have never looked healthier, which is why we’ve compiled this best strategy games list of all time. Whether you want to conquer the depths of space, wage historical warfare or hulk around in big mechanical robots, there’s a strategy game for you below.

Here we stand in the dark neo-year of 2020. The spam bots have risen to prominence, the governments of the world are bickering over follower counts, and history class has been renamed “meme studies”. Somewhere, in a dusty room in the RPS treehouse, a rogue human is compiling a list article for a crumbling PC games website. It is a warning to all those who read it. A prophecy of the terrible things to come. Wars, invasions, disease, heat death. Videogames, it turns out, have predicted all this and more. Here we replicate this cautionary pre-chronicle, your guide to the harrowing times ahead. Here are the 11 worst years in our future history, according to games.

Mech love, not war. That is the lesson we must learn from the futuristic prophecies of the MechWarrior games. Yes, it is very noble to slam your big steel shoes upon a separatist s bedroom, and to laser him in the head. But would it not bring greater valour, greater unity, greater enlightenment, if those same 65-ton brogues were used to dance!
No. Here is a list of the 9 stompiest mechs in PC games. The heaviest, most murderous machines we know and trust with our frail human bods. But are they are all good at squashing?
