Known Issues This update has been observed to have a minor performance impact on systems with AMD Radeon GPUs when running 3DMark Port Royal. However, no changes have been made in this update that should affect Port Royal performance, and in our testing, we observed no performance impacts for systems using GPUs from other vendors. AMD is aware of this issue, and an investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of it.

Since the original Solar Bay Benchmark launched on Android, iOS, and Windows, hundreds of thousands of gamers around the world have run it to see how their devices might handle the next generation of games developed for mobile devices and lightweight computers.
However, gaming technology moves fast, and just over the horizon are always new processors with the capability to run even more realistic lighting in games at minimal battery drain.
To be ready for these, we think now is the time to clock things up with an extreme version of Solar Bay. It significantly increases the existing raytracing workload with additional raytracing implementations such as ray-traced specular reflections for all surfaces and glass reflections, and ray-traced soft shadows for directional light.
This time is a little different from previous extreme benchmarks of ours - not only have we turned up the scene heaviness with new raytracing techniques, but we’ve expanded the scene with an additional assembly bay. where a rival team is competing to build their solar array faster.
Solar Bay Extreme is a free update for everyone who owns 3DMark and supports Windows, Windows on Arm, macOS, iOS, and Android.

We became aware after launch that there was a compiler issue with the 3DMark for macOS that negatively impacted performance by up to 5% for Solar Bay, Steel Nomad and Steel Nomad Light.
This performance impact means that, unfortunately, results submitted using the launch version of 3DMark for macOS are no longer valid.
Luckily, quick reports from users made us aware of this error, so thank you to those who noticed this and contacted us!

Today, we’re very excited to bring 3DMark to macOS gamers around the world. Since we launched 3DMark Steel Nomad Light, we found that 1/6 of all iOS app submissions were from macOS devices. Running an iOS application on a macOS device can negatively affect scores on some benchmarks, especially when run on some more powerful Macs, as iOS application maximum frame rates are limited to the system's display refresh rate. 3DMark for macOS is a full native macOS application, and the best way to benchmark the gaming performance of the latest Macs with 3DMark. It not only includes the Wild Life Extreme, Solar Bay, and Steel Nomad Light benchmarks, it also brings the even heavier Steel Nomad Benchmark, previously only available on Windows. These benchmarks all run natively using the Metal API, and are fully comparable with results from Windows, iOS, and Android devices. As with Windows, owners of 3DMark will gain access to additional features:
Explorer Mode for Steel Nomad and Steel Nomad Light, where you can freely explore the benchmark scenes, edit camera controls to take the perfect background image for your Mac, and even find many secrets hidden by the 3DMark development team.
