This is a public beta release - which means that it's
important to back up your work as you could find bugs which our testers haven't encountered previously. But at this stage, we would like as many of you as possible to get onto the editor and
give us more feedback!
To opt into the Public Beta branch:
- Open Steam and right click on the Beatmap Editor
- Choose Properties
- Choose Betas
- Opt in to the "public.beta"
What's New?
A summary of new features and changes is below. For more detailed information on features, please see the
Beatmap Editor Reference Guide which is updated to incorporate all changes between the current Production Editor (v 1.9.7-10) and the Public Beta
For this build, you will need to reset your editor keybinds to default. This will clear any existing faulty/duplicate bindings (even if you don't use them) and migrate you to the new default keybinds.
New Features:
- Gridless rail move: when snap to grid is off, rail heads and nodes can be dragged off-grid.
- Move Rail Head: you can now move a rail head without moving the entire rail with it (ctrl + left-click drag). You can still move an entire rail at once with alt drag.
- Note Outline Toggle: toggle note outlines on or off (ctrl+q).
- Free Camera Improvements: free camera now moves more responsively (hold right-click and use WASD + Q/E while in free camera mode). 9 now resets the free camera position.
- Measure Indicator: shows what bar or beat your editor plane is on.
Bug Fixes/Changes:
- Playback desync fix - the way timing is done has been changed to sort out playback desync.
- Ghost notes fix - deleted notes should no longer give audio cues.
- Save changes - changes to the save function were made to resolve save issues (however anti-virus, permissions or having a file open outside of the editor may still interfere).
- Intermittent cursor loss addressed.
- Very dense stacks of notes should no longer cause audio loss on playback.
- Holding onto a rail head while scrolling should no longer cause the editor to crash.
- Terminology around rails has changed to be more consistent.
- Obstacle confirmation messages changed to be more clear.
- Default keybindings have been changed to avoid conflicting functions and consistency with existing hotkeys:
Ctrl/8 = Toggle Triangle
Ctrl/B = Toggle Bookmark
9 = Reset Free Camera View
Q/E = Camera Down, Camera Up (hold right-click)
WASD = Forward/Horizontal Movement (hold right-click)
Known Issues:
- Geforce Experience may interfere with the rail snapping toggle shortcut (Alt+F3)**. To solve this you can either disable Geforce overlay, go into Geforce In-Game Overlay Settings and change the hotkey binding to something else or rebind the hotkey in the editor.
- For all other known issues / bugs, please see the Beatmap Editor Bug List (Google Sheet)
Reporting Issues:
- If you encounter issues which are not on the Beatmap Editor Bug List, have feedback or wish to make a feature request, the fastest way to let us know is to join us in the Synth Riders Official Discord. There you can make #editor-bug-reports or request features in the #editor-wishlist.
- When reporting issues, please let us know what you were doing at the time, whether you are able to reproduce it and if so, how. Video of it happening is helpful in narrowing down the cause.
