One of the central mechanics in Savior is territory capture. Unlike traditional Metroidvanias, we're aiming for a more persistent world impact where battles have lasting effects rather than enemies respawning in the same spot. It's meant to add a strategic layer where your actions directly shape the world and story.
Depending on the game's events, different factions will vie for control of Arcadia’s outposts. Once captured, outposts offer food, rest, and information to those who hold them. It’s up to you to balance exploration and story progression while preventing hostile factions from taking too much ground.
Fail to hold them back, and they'll reach your home village, destroy your resources and kidnap your friends—events that will be hard to reverse.
Feedback
I'd love to hear your thoughts on the Territory Capture idea. Do you think it will work with the genre? Have you seen it in other games before? What features would help improve it?
