This quickly raised some eyebrows given Gaudechon's tenure at EA, a game studio that's had its fair share of controversies over the years thanks to its business practices. After all, Remedy are meant to be this quirky, Finnish game studio that does things their own, weird way, such an appointment felt out of step. But, in a recent interview, Gaudechon made it seem like he's not about to "change the DNA" of a place like Remedy (even if he does still want to bring more money in by expanding in other ways).

Certainly, when it comes to collector's editions, reissues, or the occasional game of the year overhaul, we'd be tempted to buy a second copy of some of these beloved stalwarts. And maybe, just maybe, we'd go a little further - if it's a game we really, wildly adore, we might buy it twice, just in case one copy breaks, or so we can play it on PC and also another, second platform. But even with Baldur's Gate 3, Doom, and Command and Conquer, it's hard to think of a game that we love so much we'd buy it 4,000 times. Alan Wake 2 was fantastic. Control, Max Payne, and even the overlooked Quantum Break more than prove that Remedy is one of the best mainstream game-makers today. But is that enough to justify owning 4,000 copies of the studio's original, 2010 horror shooter? For one Alan Wake fan, the answer is a resounding 'yes.'

It seems like Alan Wake is up to his ole reality shifting tricks again, as the real band that Alan Wake 2's fictional band is performed by is finding worldwide success, as the fictional band.
Ok, so, let's bear with me for a second as I give you some context. The Old Gods of Asgard are a fictional band who first appeared in the first Alan Wake back in 2010. You also will have heard them in Control, and most recently, the best section of Alan Wake 2. What you might not know is that there is a real, actual Finnish band that plays them called Poets of the Fall. But, under the fictional moniker of Old Gods of Asgard, they recently a "Greatist Hits" album called Rebirth, featuring the instant classic Herald of Darkness from the sequel, as well as tracks from the original game.
Now, as shared by Poets of the Fall themselves, that album has managed to enter the top 10 albums on iTunes over the weekend, undoubtedly due to their stellar performance of Herald of Darkness at The Game Awards last week. It came in at the 10th spot specifically, behind Christmas albums like Michael Buble's Christmas, and Cher's Christmas (real original names there), with a couple other spots being Christmasy too, so clearly Old Gods of Asgard fits in pretty perfectly.

You might think you're a big fan of something, you may even be the creator of a beloved text, but no one will know more about a piece of media than a fan wiki. As it turns out, this is definitely the case for Alan Wake as well, as in a recent interview with Sam Lake and Kyle Rowley, co-directors on the long awaited Alan Wake 2, the pair have go so far as to thank those that have written for Alan Wake fan wikis to help them "remember the details."
Lake and Rowley recently appeared on The Friends Per Second Podcast, where they also shared the game's best bit almost didn't make it in. But Lake also said that he wanted to "officially give a big thank you to all the wonderful fans keeping Alan Wake wikis up to date. I confess, I trust these people, I’ll be thinking, 'We said something about this in the original Alan Wake but I can’t for the life of me remember the details.'"

So if you think you never actually got round to playing the first game, and want to pick it up for cheap before Alan Wake 2 launches, a new Humble Bundle deal has you covered. The "Fright of Your Life" game bundle is available right now, and nets you eight games for as little as £10.65 - though you can pay more, as you can choose how much of the proceeds goes towards the pair of charities this bundle is for, which are the International Medical Corps and Direct Relief.
It should be noted that while the bundle does net you the Collector's Edition of Alan Wake, it is specifically for the original version of the game, and not the Remastered version that came out a couple of years back. Remedy Entertainment's partnership with Epic Games continues to bore some interesting fruit, as last week it was announced that those that pre-order Alan Wake 2 on the Epic Games Store will net a skin of the titular character in Fortnite. Perhaps an odd choice for a game like Fortnite, sure, but Epic Games is publishing the upcoming sequel so it makes some amount of sense! As it turns out, though, that skin isn't the only collaboration the battle royale is having with the upcoming survival horror game; you can now (sort of) play through the original game in Fortnite itself.
Alan Wake: Flashback is a new, micro version of the original game that sees you playing through its main plot beats in about 25 minutes.
