Today we're saying congratulations to our good friends over at DON'T NOD on the launch of the studio's newest game, Lost Records: Bloom & Rage.
"Embark on a new narrative journey by the creators of Life is Strange. Film your summer of 1995 and create memories of a lifetime with your new friends. 27 years later, confront the dark secrets that made you all promise to never speak again after that fateful summer."
We're also delighted to announce that Lost Records: Bloom & Rage has today joined the Narrative Excellence bundle, where it sits alongside Eternal Threads as well as The Chinese Room's narrative horror, Still Wakes the Deep.

From May 23rd – May 30th, Eternal Threads will be 75% off in the Cerebral Puzzle Showcase. The Cerebral Puzzle Showcase is an annual event on Steam which showcases and celebrates some of the world’s best “thinky games”.
What is a Thinky Game? Well, it’s a puzzle game, but more specifically it could be any sort of game that really makes you think, as you play.
In Eternal Threads, you’ll have to carefully consider the decisions you make, as each choice will have consequences. As an operative tasked with fixing corruption in the timestream, you have been sent to the North of England in May 2015, where six people died in a house fire. Prohibited from simply stopping the fire, you must instead manipulate the choices made by the housemates in the week leading up to it so that they all survive the event.
Today we are also celebrating the launch of Eternal Threads on consoles. This non-linear, narrative-puzzle adventure is also now available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.
After sifting through various plotlines and potential butterfly effects, today Secret Mode and Cosmonaut Studios can confirm that the non-linear, narrative-puzzle adventure Eternal Threads will release on PlayStation®5, PlayStation®4, Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One on 23 May, 2024.

Plus, as a result of the game’s extended temporal tinkering, we can also confirm that Eternal Threads will also launch on Nintendo Switch, along with the PlayStation and Xbox versions. Now who saw that coming?

The Epic Games Store has confirmed next week's free games, one of which is the very seasonally appropriate The Evil Within.
If you were looking for a pretty good horror game to play through this Halloween, Epic Games has you covered. Starting October 19, you'll be able to claim the Tango Gameworks developed and Bethesda published The Evil Within, directed by none other than Resident Evil 1 through 4 director Shinji Mikami. Released in 2014, The Evil Within very much feels like a spiritual successor of sorts to the Resident Evil 4 era of games, where you play as Sebastian Castellanos, a former police officer who gets roped into a horrifying world filled with all kinds of monsters. It's not exactly a masterpiece, but it's got some good scares and monster designs, and for the price of free you really can't go wrong.
It's good timing, too, as it seems like Mikami has teased his intention to return to the world of game development. Earlier this year, it was reported that Mikami had left Tango Gameworks, the very studio he founded, which seemingly resulted in a non-compete clause. "Now that I've broken the spell of non-competition on myself, I guess I should get to work," Mikami tweeted yesterday, implying that the clause has now finished. PlatinumGames co-founder Hideki Kamiya seems to be going through something similar, as he himself recently left the Bayonetta developer. Kamiya has started his own YouTube channel, where he explained that he signed a non-compete agreement which lasts a year, so we won't see a new game from him for a while.

The Independent Games Festival (IGF) announced the nominees of its annual awards yesterday, and Eternal Threads, the narrative-driven puzzle game from Liverpool developer Cosmonaut Studios, received an Honorable Mention in the category of Excellence in Narrative.
Eternal Threads is a single-player, timeline-hopping, first-person story-driven puzzle game about choice and consequence. As an operative, you have been sent back to 2015, where six people died in a house fire. Prohibited from simply stopping the fire, you must instead manipulate the choices made by the housemates in the week leading up to it so that they all survive the event.
"We are thrilled to receive this recognition from the IGF," said Paul Johnson, the lead developer of Eternal Threads. "We put a lot of hard work and passion into this game and it's an honour to have our efforts acknowledged by such a prestigious organization."
The Excellence in Narrative category recognizes games that have exceptional storytelling and character development. IGF accepted over 500 individual games for the 2023 competition, making Eternal Threads' Honorable Mention even more impressive.
The IGF, which has been running since 1998, is one of the most respected and well-known awards in the game development industry. The awards showcase the best in independent game development and recognize the efforts of small and indie developers. The Independent Games Festival Awards will take place on Wednesday, 22 March at the 2023 Game Developers Conference, which will be held at the Moscone Convention Center in San Francisco.

We’re incredibly proud to announce that that Eternal Threads has been selected as a finalist in this year’s Indie X 2022 Online Edition awards. Indie X is Portugal’s biggest indie game showcase featuring both national and international indie games with the aim to promote the best games that Portugal’s rising game dev industry has to offer, as well as a selection of international indies who tag along for an awesome showcase.
As part of the showcase event, Indie X Online 2022 will be hosting a livestream of the game alongside the game’s writer Dave Bottomley as he discusses the development of Eternal Threads.
The livestream will be on Wednesday November 9th at 16:00 GMT over on Twitch. You’ll be able to view the stream and post your questions to Dave here: https://www.twitch.tv/rtparena or here: https://www.twitch.tv/rubberchickentv

We have been blown away by the response to the release of Eternal Threads by Cosmonaut Studios. It has been such a joy to us all to see our players give the game such high praise AND for press to have reviewed the game so highly. As we hoped, people have loved exploring the house: trying to save its inhabitants and altering the past to save the future.
What we didn’t see was our release price not aligning with our fans’ expectations. We’re going to hold our hands up: at a time when global prices and the squeeze on our players have been very intense, we got our pricing wrong.
Firstly, we are so grateful for those players who did buy Eternal Threads and we thank them for their support and custom. In return we will shortly be gifting two Secret Mode titles to those players, directly into their game libraries.
Secondly, we have activated a 50% discount very early in the game’s lifecycle. Since launch we have seen incoming Wishlist numbers that far exceeded our highest expectations. This has been very humbling but also a sign that our fans were expecting a different price point. We wish to correct this and welcome many more players into Eternal Threads to experience the game’s twists and turns first-hand.
Finally, the game will exit the Steam Summer Sale at a new price, lower than our original launch price.
At Secret Mode we want to do things a little differently. This swift action, we hope, will show our customers that we are watching and listening.
Enjoy the adventure and remember: it’s never too late to fix the future.
The Secret Mode team

Time travel stories can have pretty high stakes, because usually you only travel in time when you really need to change something. A killer robot is trying to kill a lady because of something her son will eventually do, that kind of thing. My favourite episodes of Doctor Who, by contrast, were always the ones where the Doctor met a miserable dog-alien thousands of years in the future, and the dog alien is like "Not only is the planet about to blow, but my marriage is in trouble," and then the episode was mostly about the latter issue rather than the former. This is all by way of introduction to Eternal Threads, a puzzle game where you go back in time to stop everyone in a house share dying in a fire.
To save a present that has been rendered apocalyptic by time travel itself, you are part of a team who go back and change tiny things in the past to fix it, in this case 2015. While it is imperative for some reason that the fire does indeed happen, it is just as important that all six occupants live. You can alter small decisions they make in the week running up to the fire, and so save their lives by choosing whether they go to the pub, if they comfort each other in times of need, or what they have arguments about. The beat of a butterfly's wing, indeed.
