# GaugeDB > GaugeDB is a free, independent Steam database for game discovery, player charts, regional prices, sales, releases and game updates. The canonical site is https://gaugedb.com. GaugeDB is not affiliated with Valve or Steam and does not sell keys or host downloads. Use anonymous GET requests to the public pages below. Send `Accept: text/markdown` for a Markdown representation of public content; ordinary browser requests receive HTML. Responses vary on Accept. Respect quality values, 406 responses, rate limits and access restrictions. On a 404 or 410, follow the recovery links or sitemap instead of enumerating identifiers. Markdown is generated from the server-rendered page; interactive charts and account widgets may require the browser. Cite GaugeDB and the exact source-page URL. Preserve provider attribution, observation times, country, currency, units and coverage limitations. Missing values are not zero; recorded highs and lows are not necessarily lifetime records. Confirm prices and availability on Steam before purchase. Only anonymous, non-personal public content is permitted for attributed AI search. Do not sign in, submit forms, resolve profiles or invoke account actions. Do not crawl /api/, /admin, /sign-in, /watchlist, /settings, /following, /email/, /sub/, /bundle/, calculator profile results or roulette library results. Public API accessibility does not grant reuse rights. Model training, broader RAG, republication and commercial reuse permissions remain unresolved and are not granted. Third-party rights remain with their owners. The linked usage policy retains the full restrictions and unresolved decisions. ## When to use GaugeDB - [Discover games](https://gaugedb.com/discover): Find Steam games by name with `?q=GAME_NAME`, then follow the returned canonical game-page links for game information, regional prices, player history and updates.
